Remember me, for I will soon be gone Remember me, and let the love we have live on And know that I’m with you the only way that I can be So until you’re in my arms again, remember me!

Ramblings on “Brave Not Perfect”
Tumblr media
Reshma Saujani’s Brave Not Perfect has become one of my favorite personal development books. Some take a ways from this novel include:
1. Bravery and not letting fear stop you from achieving your goals and passions.
2. Courage to embrace your imperfections
and
3. Change “can’t” to “yet”; shift mindset of limitations.
Some other points Saujani made that really stuck with me are:
Give the advice you give to someone else; listen to your own advice.
Ask yourself if the fear of putting yourself out there and being vulnerable is worth the risk of not doing it and not achieving your dreams.
Learn to accept criticism and ask for feedback
Become more accepting of your imperfections; become comfortable with them.
Ask yourself if your scare and out of your comfort zone or if it doesn’t really make sense to do? (drama or wisdom talking)
If voice of wisdom you will feel at peace because it’s calm with a sense of authority
Drama is whiny, nervous and defensive.
If you make excuses, find yourself compelled to explain your choices to anyone who will listen, feel disappointed or unhappy this is voice of drama calling the shots.
Next time you’re going to pass on something pause and ask yourself drama or wisdom talking?
Thanks for Reading!

Ramblings on Present over perfect
Tumblr media
I read this book several months ago, as part of my journey to gain more tools in my self development tool box.  It’s interesting that this novel left me with so many thoughts on being comfortable in the uncomfortable but until now looking back on my notes on Niequist’s books I realized how thankful and timely this book came into my life.  The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of changes and has left me grappling with how to process all these paradoxes.  For the first time in my life I’m forced to confront myself in ways I’ve always been able to avoid in the past that I can no longer do.  When I originally read this I wrote in my notes:
challenge: letting myself be seen in silence.  My fears and anxieties about being vulnerable and letting love in.  Fear of heartbreak.  Open heart space.  Anxiety of being alone.  Becoming comfortable in the silence of being by myself.
Did I challenge myself to do any of these things? nope, I went back to my old habits. Being far from home with no family has really brought these challenges into my life and I’m finally working through them and I’m so glad I finally am facing these challenges because it has taught me that I am stronger and capable of so much more than I think; it’s okay to be uncomfortable because that’s where you grow.
