Hello I'm the person from a little while ago telling you about my recasts and telling about my story of how I love them to death. I was looking on bjd confessions and they basically copied my sentence changing things basically saying I was a piece if shit for not selling my recasts. It kinda made me feel more upset knowing there's people in the world who desperately go in the ways of people to make them feel worse just because they have legits and others don't. Honestly people always say recasts have bad faceups but I have never had issues and even get compliments from the antis for my dolls 'gorgeous faceups'. A recast custom faceup is 35$, sometimes 40$ if you want many details and freckles and it is always sheer perfection and done in 3 days. I don't have time to wait 6 months for a doll and then wait 3 months for a faceup. I do faceups myself and it takes me 4 days at max when I work full time on the side. 3 Months is a scam...

It's a fact that painting on top of resin it's not affected by the shipping label origin, but by your ability to actually get the faceup right.

it took me more that three years to save up for a doll. The doll costs less than 200$ and it still took me 3 years because I’m damn broke and don’t get enough money with my job. I could have bought a cheap legit, but there is so much hate, recast owners need to eat too, they also struggle with money. It’ll probably take me a full yeah before I can order him his outfit, and other three or more years to buy his partner’s, but who cares? I’m in not an artist, so "screw me", right?

A lot of the legit bjd discourse is “they did something to their doll that I do not like for my own dolls”, if someone spends their money on a doll, who cares? Let them do what they want to it. The only problems should be if someone messes with your exact doll that you own, not the make or the sculpt or the company or the price or the authenticity of the doll. Is not your problem, is not your doll.

So the other day I tried to buy a legit doll from someone and they declined because I dont have enough feedback. That person has followed my legit account for 3 years so Im not sure what they are on about.

This whole „you need a bunch of feedback to get this doll“ thing gets on my nerves. How can antis not see how unwelcoming that is and how new people might be drawn towards recasts because of it?

Ngl if the doll Im talking about ever gets recasted I’ll buy three just out of spite.

That's pretty much how I got my first recast. The artist wasn't shipping to the states, if I wanted it I had to hire a guy in asia to buy the exact doll on a couple minutes window and then ship it here, so I finally spend like five years for nothing and in that time it got recasted.

Now to that kind of people, I offer them just a tissue...

Why are you still buying legits ? to be part of the arsehole elite ? I am a student without wage, except when I work on holidays, I sometimes have money for my bday or Xmas, sometimes small amounts beside from my parents, and I still can buy dolls, and be part of the community. I wait, spare, sell, re-wait for the good opportunity to buy the doll I want for cheap or at the good moment on ali sales. And I’m quite proud of it. Why are you still buying expensive legits ? I usually try to save up and buy legit when I find a doll I want, but then always find I'm too scared of doing something I can't fix to a doll I just spent months saving for, which has made practicing any customizations pretty much a no-go for me. I recently bought one of my long discontinued grails from oueneifs, though, and it's been so amazing to get to mod a doll and make them mine without being scared of "ruining" them. I finally got to practice dyeing a doll! :D She turned out incredible!!

Congrats on your efforts, anon. That's the joy of not spending 5 year savings on a single snap.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if it’s Volks, Minifee, Soom, Resinsoul, an artist BJD, some obscure-ass company or a recast. It doesn’t matter if the faceup is flawless art or the shittiest n00b crayon trash ever. Clothes, eyes, wig, etc, doesn’t fucking matter. Professional photography or badly lit shit. I feel like me owning recasts is one of the least destructive things I’ve done. A lot of my clothes are fast fashion, I’ve used makeup with materials mined by child labourers getting payed as little as a penny a day, the processed food I buy ruins habitats for animals, etc. An artist not getting money from me is not the same as a child dying an early death due to the conditions they’re in. And if I do start caring about my impact on the bjd world let’s start with the people who make the resin. They are constantly around dangerous chemicals and do the artists care about that? No. So why should I care about their life when they are harming people too?

It probably is...

That Minifee went from $1,200 to $900, and while it’s an improvement, it’s still way too expensive. Nobody is ever going to spend that much on a Minifee and considering the body is about $365 new, there’s no way the head is worth $535. I like how antis are like "if you can buy x amount of recasts you can buy a legit." that's the thing, I can buy multiple recasts for less than the price of one (usually for the same quality as well). Also not to mention that sometimes people build their collection up over many years so someone having multiple recasts doesn't mean they bought them all at once.

Every time I hear an antirecast "pro artists" argument, I realize they're their own worse enemies...
