I got Wellesley, Chatham, most of Falmouth, half of New Bedford, my cousin down in Quincy, my guy up in Marblehead—if we can get Framingham, that’s…

I do what I can. -exhales heavily- Well, if ye can’t make it to dinner you could always pop ‘round ours Friday night. Vote’ll be over by then ‘n that means you could well be cured of Shite Company Pox. If not, I’ll bet a whiskey’d at least help. Plus, Maggie quite likes fawnin’ over the likes of you s’well. Or did. May’ve forgotten what ye look like by now…
-inhales thru his teeth in that sorta wince-y way ?bc feels a lil bad but also like I’m Doing My Duty THese R the Sacrifices- Well, if everything goes smoothly, I think there’s a good chance I can squeeze ye in — if only to remind Maggie what her favorite uncle looks like, of course. But who’ll be cooking dinner: you, Niall, or the blokes working at that Indian place ‘round the corner? My ultimate decision hangs rather perilously on that bit of information, ye realize.

-laughs- I said every McKinnon, not just Magnus. Marlene and Marc as just as terrible. But, that being said, I suppose I can’t force you to go if you don’t want to. Though, if you don’t show, that older brother of yours will just spend the whole evening whinging about him not being able to get out of it while you could. And that’s hardly fair for me.
I have an inkling that the two of ye will manage to pull through. And besides, if there’s anyone that can keep a rein on my older brother’s whinging, it’s likely to be you. Get him a drink — get him three drinks and I’m certain he’ll manage to forget all about me.
Though to be safe, you probably also ought to keep him a distance from my mum when ye can. I sent her an owl earlier today on the subject of my not being able to make it and I reckon she’ll have quite a lot to say.

-arches a brow, mildly amused- And why does that sound like the worlds mot half-hearted excuse? -smirks the tiniest bit- Must be a McKinnon trait; thinking up an excuse for near everything.
Hardly fair for ye to be projecting Magnus’ flaws onto me, now. I take great care in making sure my excuses appear as credible as possible.

Ye ought to give yourself more credit, Marls. You’ll be bringing Maggie, won’t ye? No vote can stand in a competition with the likes of that. The bairn’ll save ye from mum’s fawning and save me from ye subsequent fury — which I’ve always found a great deal deadlier, if I’m to be honest.

Don’t ye worry about me and mum’s wrath, alright? I’ve been well-trained in how to deal with it since the time I was near five years old. She’ll just have to come to terms with the fact that her second eldest has got his hands plenty full. And I’d be shite company anyway, what with the vote this Friday.

As much as I would like to go, I'm not sure I’ll be able to carve out the time for it.
