Some of my favorite flowers…
Every year about this time a lot of us get really excited about planting flowers in our garden. As for me I am not one with a green thumb so I have to stay with easy care easy to grow plants. I wanted to show you some of the ones I have the most success with today.
This container is filled with pansies, Lillie’s, and an ornamental grass. The Lillie’s come back every year and even multiply for you over the dormant season. All ornamental grasses come back also and are fairly hard to destroy by the wind and cold temperatures. The pansies I plant every fall…sometimes they bloom wonderfully and sometimes not so good but they are easy and that’s what we are thinking about today.
I also love hostas. They never fail to make me happy with their way they brighten my garden all throughout the growing season. When they start to get yellowing leaves the season is nearing the end. That is unless you neglect to water these little beauties.
These are some of my very very favorites to plant. Zinnias. I love the giant blooms and I assure you everyone will be envious of your garden.

Photos like the lady above makes me want to get into all my vintage fabrics and sew up something delightful. I love beautiful tea towels and candles and just being home.
Lemons are a wonderful fruit and I learned today that they actually are a form of evergreen tree. I did not know and would never have thought it to be so. This is according to Wickipedia.

Got Green Strawberries
Well I got some green strawberries 2 weeks in a row thinking they would ripen up. That’s not the case.
I learned once a strawberry is picked off the vine before it’s time it will never ripen any further. I did not know this! It’s not like a tomato so save your money if you can’t get a good strawberry that’s nice and red and juicy. So, now what do do with these unripened berries that you have wasted money on. Well, you could mix them with perhaps another berry of your choice and make jam, jelly or preserves or do what I did. I put diced up strawberries in a skillet, added a little sweetener, a little lemon juice, about a teaspoon crème of tarter and a little water. This made a fruity sort of syrup and I put it on my waffle. It was tasty but I still have 2 lbs of not very ripe strawberries and I do not know what I am going to do with those. Perhaps just put them diced up in a zip lock freezer bag and add to smoothies. That’s probably my best bet.

I love the sea! Can’t swim but love the sand and the sights and sounds of a beach front. Gather a blanket and a thermos of coffee is what we did as kids going to the beach. Foggy and cold on the Pacific but that blanket and warm coffee was wonderful. Salty moisture hitting your face occasionally and getting a taste on your lips. We never spent a whole lot of time there but oh how delightful it was when we did go. There were places where you could buy fresh cooked crab and fresh bread..warm from the oven and delightful does not compare to the way it melted in your mouth.
Got up today thinking about the water and how some enjoy the ocean front so much they add that coastal feel to their home decor. So today I added some items along that line and if you are that beach and sand type person I hope you enjoy.
The Pacific coast was not like this but this is more along the coast of Florida.
We have a beautiful coastal decor lamp here and if you are trying to incorporate a touch here and there a lamp or two along this line would certainly get your theme going quickly. Everything I show you today are available for purchase so if your interest is high I am trying to get these items on my Etsy shop which is no small task.
These fish trays are darling and placed in just the right spot on a table or chest with a lamp or plant would be cheerful and colorful.
I love these birds! Fun and perky in any area.
Another couple of lamps along the coastal theme to give you a bit of variety.
You can’t not have a touch of coral. So beautiful and this plaque is very very nice.
Last but not least I added this coral lamp. You have trouble finding this type of accessory but we have these lamps while inventory holds out.

The last few days have been filled with lots of activity around my home. Lots of cooking, sewing of new fall pillows and my first time ever experience at making soap. Sweet smelling aromatic pumpkin soaps in fact. Having never attempted such an undertaking I headed to Amazon to find some products to make my experience successful.
We bought the goats milk melt and pour that already has the lye in it. We cut the pieces as closely the same size as the others so when we did the microwave melting they would all melt down pretty much even.
You can see here it is melting very nicely and being a first time soap maker our excitement was at high pitch.
Now this is one of those silicone loaf bread pans and this is what we used as our soap mold. I think the ridges on the bottom of this pan made the soap turn out nicely. Anyway after it was all melted we put in a Pumpkin Essential oil that was also purchased from Amazon.
This is the pumpkin oil we used along with vanilla and tumerick for coloring and we were very happy with our soap.
Don’t you think it’s pretty? Well it cut up nicely and naturally we were thrilled. It smells lovely and lathers so nicely and we got all of this at Amazon.

It’s been a while since having time to create. Sewing gives me a clearing of the mind. Personally I think things through..so peaceful when all is going well. Fall days are perfect for sewing, crafting, knitting. Young ladies should learn this art. Growing up I had a friend that only got one new outfit a year but that new outfit was always made to perfection and of course not like anyone else’s outfit. Her mother always chose quite the fitting piece of fabric. I think she had a good eye for being able to vision the project before beginning. That’s a gift! Anyway I love to sew. Pillows were on the drawing table a couple weeks ago and they turned out nicely. Today it just could be I will freshen my kitchen towels.
