like ik last time i said this i literally ghosted the app for like 6 months but i really do wanna start writing more on here even if what i write isn’t like the next coming of shakespeare level literature, like even if no one actually reads my stuff just to at least flex some sort of ‘creative’ writing muscle yk

a/n: omfg this is literally so ass i wrote this at 2am when i was very sleep deprived so i apologise for this lmaoo

bertholdt hoover was quiet at the best of times, he was quiet in a way that if you didn't know him, you would get the impression that he wasn't enjoying your company when in fact this wasn't the case at all, y/n knew this, and didn't mind taking the lead in conversations, they knew he preferred to listen.
the two grew up together and formed a comfortable companionship, outsiders saw them as inseparable, a pair, where y/n went bertholdt followed.
such was the case on a boring dreary day after school, the two often studied together, this particular day bertholdt found himself rather distracted from his piling homework. y/n was very obviously struggling with sone trivial question but bertholdt couldn't help but focus on the arch of their brow as they were focusing intently on their work, the way they unconsciously chewed the end of their pen in concentration, the way their eyes, although tired, shine as they jot down their answers. even in these mundane moments he couldn't help but think about how fond he was of them. he wished he could find the words to tell them how he felt, but everytime he tried to put his feelings into words he backed out feeling like a coward.
he wished you knew how much he loved them, everyone else could see it and constantly teased the two about it, he wished they didn't deny their feelings, he wished y/n felt the same way.
y/n felt bertholdt's stare burning into them and gave him a small, gentle smile. "you almost finished bert?" he felt his cheeks heat up as he was caught in the act. bertholdt simply nodded and pretended to read his textbook.
little did bertholdt know that y/n felt exactly the same way. y/n loved bertholdt for as long as they could remember, they wished they could gather up the courage to just ask him out, they had an inkling that he felt the same way, but the embarrassment and humiliation that comes with rejection proved too daunting. they didnt want to ruin the friendship they had if anything happened between them.
"fuck it" y/n thought to themself, and they looked up into bert's deep green eyes, "bertholdt, i really like you, and not just in a friends kind of way" bertholdt's eyes widened in surprise, if he was red in the face before, he thought he must look like a tomato now, he was stunned into silence. "its okay if you don't like me back, in fact its probably better that way, let's just forget i even said anything" y/n nervously blurted.
bertholdt felt himself begin to panic internally, he was shocked, "y/n actually likes me back" he thought. in the backround he could still hear y/n ranting on. bertholdt gathered up all his courage, remembering the advice his 'wingman' reiner had given him previously and shut y/n up with a timid peck on the lips.
y/n immediately stopped talking and returned the kiss, in complete disbelief that this was actually happening.
bertholdt nervously cleared his throat and said "i like you too y/n... im sorry i couldn't tell you earlier, but i do, and i have for a long time now" taking y/n's hand in his larger one and looking into their eyes. y/n just widely smiled and kissed his cheek glad they finally came clean about their feelings for each other.
