My witchy iOS apps.
Wow! I’ve never gotten more than MAYBE 15 notes in my many years on tumblr. Thanks, witch fam!
UPDATED*** Here are some app links for @valicorne and others who requested. They should all be free. Some of these are also in the Android Marketplace, and for those that aren’t, there are comparable ones.
And my mom has a baller sigil making app on Android I envy: Sigil Automatron. Anyone know of a comparable one for iOS? (I don’t want just a paint or photoshop-like app, but one specific To making sigils)
Not all the full names show in the screenshotted app view, which is why some of you struggled to find them. Sorry!):
1. Tarot Card Memorizer: Pretty self explantaory. This is a nice reference when you’re trying to learn card meanings.
2. Pendulum Charts Free - a plethora of charts. I like using that on my iPad, not super useful on a smaller screen, aka my iPhone. Can also use to reference for making your own charts on paper, or woodburning like I’m working on.
3. Golden Thread Tarot - Really nice free eversion of great physical deck. Nice for witches on the go, or witches on a budget.
4. Crystals And Gems - Handy reference guide for both physical and metaphysical attributes.
5. Mighty Timer - temperature, time, and amount of tea you need for the perfect cup. Great kitchen witch app, especially if you grow some of your own herbs for tea, like I do.
6. TimePassages - Free daily horoscopes, meanings, planetary bodies glossary and then some paid options for chart downloads.
7. Herbs Guide - Herbs for health and cooking. ***never take any information found on the Internet or via apps as medical advice. Seek professional medical help if you have an issues. This witch is very pro-science and modern medicine, despite making teas, tinctures, and herbal salves. Those are merely supplements to help relieve symptoms.
8. Dreamboard - my favorite digital dream journal
9. Runes - pocket advisor - Get one, two and three rune readings. Also helps you learn the meanings of elder futhark runes. 10. SkyView Free -This overlays constellations and other astronomical information when you open the app and point it at the night sky. Uses your camera and GPS to know what it’s looking at. Works inside, too. I impress the heck out of people when I whip this out at stargazing events.
11. Best Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Guide Pro - This app, containing six broad sections - guides, application, single oil, oil blends, aromatherapy and weight loss. Again, this is not to be used in place of proper nutrition and medical attention, and be very careful when using essential oils. All need to be diluted with carrier oils, and some are dangerous if you’re pregnant, etc.
12. Spellcaster - tarot cards, horoscope and pre-written spells. Not my favorite, but fun to flip through.
13. Celeste -LOOOVE. Celeste allows you to calculate a natal chart, which you can view on a zodiac wheel. You also get a description of all the planets in signs, not just the sun sign.
14. Star Chart - This is similar to skyview. I haven’t played with it too much so I can’t vouch for it quite yet. I think I prefer the skyview interface.
15. Free Candle - Different candle options, and you cna blow them out. Great for on the go candle magick/meditation, and for those who aren’t allowed to use candles in apartments/dorms/etc.
16. The Pocket Pagan - “This unique Pagan app includes a map of the USA and Canada filled with Pagan, occult and New Age stores, a handy correspondence guide for quick magickal look-ups, and a calendar that shows you the next full moon and Sabbat dates. Quick links can help you find the latest news, blogs and videos too. One little widget shows the real-time moon phase too.”
17. Moon - current moon phase - Love this. Very simple interface for when you JUST want basic full, new, waxing, waning moon info.
18. Herbs in Magick - The application contains information about more than 200 herbs and their magickal use. No internet connection

Where are all my nonbinary, gender queer, agender, genderfluid, and in general witches who don’t neatly fit on the gender binary and/or witches who don’t incorporate the gender binary into their practice at?
I need more non cis, non binary witches to follow honestly. I just need some witches I can Relate™ to. I need some witches who Know™ the struggle. Who constantly see “X is a female energy plant, and Y is a male energy plant” and are just too tired with it lol
Like if you’re cis or actively incorporate the gender binary into your craft, more power to you, but also please don’t rb this post, as I am specifically looking for things that are not cis or binary.

This is so fuckin real. Like seriously when I started with my coven, whenever I wanted to do something powerful I would use our full ceremonial circle. It made me feel the witchy-est, cause of the DRAMA OF IT ALL, and while sure I sometimes still do that (it can be fun as hell if nothing else), I can easily create almost exactly the same effect just using a few things that feel useful to this specific working.
But like... If I’m in a rut, I pull out ALL those fuckin candles, incense, music, ect, cause holy damn does it help you get in the head space for magic! It’s like when an actor puts on their costumes and goes under the lights, new actors are like 100% likely to give a better performance, and even the best actor in the world still gets an extra bang for their buck. tools don’t give you magic, they help you realize YOU’RE DOING SOME MF-ING MAGIC RIGHT NOW
Magic and Psychodrama
I creep on a lot of magic blogs around here, and you know, one of the reasons questions like this appear, is because we don’t discuss psychodrama. And honestly, because I’m sort of old, I’m not sure if psychodrama is taught anymore? As in I’m not sure if it is appearing in your reading and research.
I encourage the lot of you to take some time and read up on psychodrama. Ritual magicians use psychodrama to set a mood, and get into a magical mental space that pretty much leads to being in a magical physical space.
Psychodrama lays the smackdown on doubt. You’re in character. You become a character actor. You lose yourself in the process and you come away with a fan-fuckin-tastic completed spell. Psychodrama gets you out of your own way.
One might notice that I teach a lot of low-tool no-tool magic, and that’s one of the reasons I say that I am not a good beginner practitioner teacher. Beginner magicians, in my honest opinion, must develop a sense of psychodrama. It is the ultimate in fake it until you make it.  Tools, clothing, music, and atmosphere all make up things that contribute to psychodrama. Even ritual design, where things are a little more theatrical, add to it. Once you feel like you’re the bee’s knees of magic, then you will naturally progress towards a lower-tool, less flashy, less prep-heavy practice. But first, one must build confidence.
The point of psychodrama is to feel witchy as fuck. If you feel witchy, you are witchy, and everything is right with the world.
I super encourage that if you are having difficulty developing confidence in your practices, to develop a more dramatic practice. Mold your magic into an art. Do things that make you feel like the witch you know you are.
Now go forth, and be witchy.
-St.

Some Meditation Tips & Tricks
When meditating, it can often be hard or downright impossible to quiet your mind. That’s ok. If you can’t shut off the noise because you have ADHD or anxiety or you’ve just had a really rough day, that’s ok. Instead, you can try to lower the roar to a buzz, to a directed stream, and here’s how:
Lay comfortably. Put on pajamas or something, or whatever you can sit comfortably in for a while, something that isn’t going to distract you with how it feels, because you’re going to focus on your body. Maybe cut the tags our if you have to. Lay down somewhere comfortable. A big comfy chair, your bed, the bathtub, I personally love the floor.
Now start with your breath and even it out. Got it even? Good. Keep it slow and deep, but don’t worry about counting, that’s distracting. Just keep it relatively even and calming and focus your attention on your toes. Are you aware of them? Are they tense? Probably a little, everything in your body is low level tense when you’re awake. That’s ok. Consciously relax your toes. Got them relaxed? Good. Now get the rest of your feet. Now your ankles. Now your calves.
Move up and up your body, relaxing all the parts. If something tenses up again go back and fix it and move up again. Don’t forget your butt, your back, your chest and hands and arms. Get your neck. Get your face. Never forget the face, you never realize how tense it is until you relax it. Heck, feel your scalp and ears and tongue. I want you loose, I want you entirely comfortable and relaxed.
Ok are you there? Are your bones melty and your muscles relaxed? Good. Now I want you to breathe. I like to close my eyes and imagine my rough body shape floating in darkness, an almost gray outline of black on black. And then I visualize myself breathing out the swirling blackness and breathing in gold sparkles. In and out, bit by bit until I’m full. Maybe you lose some sparkles on an exhale and get some of that black. That’s fine, no worries, just keep breathing. Sometimes I like to imagine I’m pushing energy out of myself and into things, while pulling in other energy. I do a lot of earth work, so sometimes lay in the garden and I push my orangey energy into the ground and plants, draw in their bluey green energy. Just breathing. Maybe my mind goes quiet, maybe it doesn’t. That’s ok, I’m relaxed and in control of myself and at a place I can work from.
I’ve been doing this since I was little, like four or five, and I’ve gotten (in about 20 yearsish) good enough to do this all at once with a few breaths. Don’t be discouraged if it takes you a bunch of passes to relax, that happens. It can take time. But if you practice you’ll feel better in general (meditation is just factually good for you), and you’ll be able to master meditation. I hope this helps!

Quick kitchen witch tip- I got this silver spoon for a little coffee and tea magic from the goodwill for a dollar, and after a thorough washing I let it soak in boiling water, a few tablespoons of salt, and a tablespoon of vinegar and the tarnish just wiped right off.
(I really liked the look of thr tarnish, but I figured if I wanted a clean, free from any other energies spoon then it needed to be back to its original form :)

Part of the Yule gifts i gave to my clan, historically a Jarl would give gifts to his men and women in exchange for their loyalty, this practice dates back before the bronze age, the rarer the gifts the more people you would attract to your clan, which lead to jarls trading as far as Rome to trade for bronze daggers that were not produced in ancient Norse lands.

Nerdy Witch Idea
Use molecular structures as sigils. For example, I’m trying out a DMT molecule for enhanced dreams/visions. One could also try a melatonin molecule for sleep, or a dopamine molecule for happiness. Or use the molecular structure of a crystal or herb with the properties you need. The possibilities are endless!

TFW Loki likes to push your boundaries so he will literally stand behind you as close as possible and just kind of put his face super close and say stuff that I can't understand. (Language barrier)
Hi Nonny,
It’s important to remember that while Loki will often push your boundaries, it’s perfectly acceptable to push back!
You see, Heathens don’t view our gods as perfect or omnipotent or even acting primarily in the best interests of their devotees 100% of the time. You aren’t obligated to do absolutely everything a god says just because they’re a god. (Or because you think they’re a god. Not everything that shows up and claims to be a god is telling the truth.) If a god is doing something hurtful, or if they’re asking you to do something you find unethical, it’s okay to explain yourself and ask them to back off.
I’ve even heard other Lokeans say that Loki in particular will sometimes push your boundaries for the sole purpose of getting you to stand up for yourself and work on your assertiveness. In any case, he’s kind of the last god you’d expect to demand unquestioning, unconditional obedience.
So if his behavior is bothering you, have a talk with him about it. Best of luck!
- Mod E
