when I say that INU-OH is absolutely transcendent, I mean that it’s quite possibly my favorite theatrical experience of the last 20 years and I do not say this lightly. I had as much reaction to the sheer artistry of this movie that I did in the goddamn Vatican museum. criminally slept on. please do whatever it takes to watch this… it did not do particularly well due to being underpromoted and experimental, which is an absolute crime.
And don't kid yourself into thinking that you're helping "real" disabled people by viciously attacking people you think might be faking their disabilities. The best thing you can do for disabled people is taking our words for who we are and what we need. Creating an environment where you constantly have to defend and explain yourself against accusations of faking will in fact harm the "real" disabled people you claim to support
Head's up for all you Fist of the North Star fans! - A Kickstarter campaign has started where you can an officially licensed Japanese kitchen knife featuring an exclusive design of Rei from Fist of the North Star! The original knives were first sold exclusively in Japan, and sold out online quickly. Now you have your chance to own a unique (and fun!) piece of official merch that doubles as a useful kitchen tool.
The campaign description boasts: "Each one takes over an hour of skilled labor by our Japanese artisans! Once the campaign concludes, no more will ever be shipped out of Japan…EVER!" It continues: "Dedicated artisans spend over 40 hours meticulously handcrafting each Fist of the North Star knife, infusing every piece with the essence of Rei's intensity through groundbreaking blue coating technology. This technology was developed to capture the spirit of Rei's signature special move, 南斗水鳥拳 (Nanto Suichoken), using a beautiful blue blade that symbolizes his cool composure and refined skills."
If you want a Rei knife of your own, it'll cost you a backing donation of ¥21,047 (or "about $137"), which seems to include shipping as well as a card guaranteeing your knife's authenticity. Check out the Kickstarter here for more details.
if anyone is wondering where I’ve been, the pollen count is high enough that I’ve been reduced to Benadryl in the daytime so that my eyes aren’t swollen enough to feel it when I blink. this is not enjoyable and I keep dozing off.
saw my first cybertruck in the PNW and I can confirm that it was EXACTLY as rusty as you’d imagine for an uncoated steel machine being driven around in an area known for being fucking wet all the time
like not only was the owner enough of a dumbass to buy a cybertruck, but he bought a cybertruck in an area infamous for constant rainfall and didn’t even give it a clear coat or vinyl wrap. Just let his $80k embarrassing death trap do what metal left in the rain does best.
I might not have my shit together, but I am comforted that at least I have my shit together more than that piece of bubble wrap for brains.
I’ve been trying for ages to figure out why the heck Moira Quirk (the narrator of the Locked Tomb audio books) sounds so incredibly familiar to me, in the “you’ve known this person since childhood” way, despite that being the first series I’ve had her narrating
a quick google later and I found out that she was the rules announcer for literally every episode of Nickelodeon GUTS. I loved that show as a kid so much. I actually DID “know” her since childhood!
