Another redo, this time with larimar earrings. I trimmed off the watercast elements and removed most of the patina for a shinier look. Simplifying isn't always the best answer, but, in this case, I think it is. I made 3 new pairs of earrings! Hooray, let me know what you think. The 1st pair are prehnite with reticulated silver leaves. The reticulation happens at the whim of the torch flame so these are truly #ooak. The 2nd pair are textured copper rolled around freshwater pearls. The earring hooks are sterling. I love pairing rustic with refined. The 3rd pair are fun spirals fused to discs, because spirals are always my favorites. Sometimes things don't work out as planned. The clasp part of the box clasp I'm trying to make turned out beautifully and I intend to hold onto it for the future. But... the tongue that inserts into the clasp? 3 attempts and finally I said the heck with this and melted the 3rd tongue into a ball. Creating a box clasp is very dependent on accurate measuring and precise angles, something I'm not in the mood for at the moment. Sterling silver, handcrafted beads are wirewrapped with tiny, white, freshwater pearls. One side of the beads has a hammered texture and the other side is smooth. Handcrafted sterling silver beads feature a stamped bird surrounded by leaves. I paired the silver beads with peridot and tanzanite. I am so pleased with how these turned out. I'm considering making more earrings with beads similar to these, maybe with different patterns or stamps. I just need to figure out a better soldering routine as connecting two raised discs together is challenging. This photo really shows off the texture I added on each oval. Yes. I had a lot of fun making these! The earrings are 2 inches long, including the earring hooks, and 1/2 an inch wide. I've hit a block of sorts. There's a combo of big personal stress last week (nothing to worry about and it's all good now), completing a really amazing, complicated piece like the Monarch butterfly necklace and achieving master artisan status on Sunday. I'm kind of left wondering, what do I work on now? So, the past few days I've stayed away from my bench, feeling somewhat intimidated. What if my next design isn't awesome? What if it sucks? I could stay blocked by these worries for weeks if I let them get ahold of me but, tonight, I'm going to just try to make simple, pretty earrings. These aren't very original and they're pretty basic, but I'm hoping the act of creating them will help me barrel through my roadblocks.
