Graduation

On Friday I finally graduated from university, I finally got my Masters Degree! Been 5 years in the making, but I have finally finished uni! I’ve gained so much experience during this period of my life, my experiences here have helped shape the course of my life heading forward. Onwards & upwards!

Degree Show Private Viewing

Module - Major Animation Production

I've finally managed to complete my animation! Got to use a combination of programs to finish this, including Adobe Animate, After Effects, ToonBoom Harmony, and Premiere Pro! Only a few more pieces of work to sort out before I have finally finished my MA!

"The circus has come to town, a veritable carnival of animals! And an old, overworked elephant finds himself awaking from a nap cut short. Given his advanced age, he would much rather retire than continue performing in the circus. Unbeknownst to the elephant, a curious little mouse, the thing he fears most, is scuttling around his feet. It’s while eating a well-earned batch of peanuts that he notices the diminutive creature. Despite their colossal size difference, this encounter will frighten him beyond belief! The mouse will have to try his best to survive this encounter, lest he be trampled for good!"

Over the past week, I have been putting together animation tests, as I move towards finishing my final MA project! This first one is a test animation I put together using a combination of Adobe Animate and After Effects. I've also created another animation test with my mouse character, using Adobe Animate.

I have continued to create production stills, now having enough to string together an updated version of the rough blocking I created earlier, with the keyframes now being filled in with finalised, or close-as, frames. Since creating this, I have also created an animation test! This is a test animation I put together, using a combination of Adobe Animate and After Effects. Recently, I have been updating my backgrounds and prop artwork, as I wasn't happy with the original designs. With my project I'm aiming for an art-style that involves painted, high-detail backgrounds with no line art, in contrast to animated elements featuring line art and solid, simplistic colours.

Module - Major Animation Production

With my primary props finalised, I have begun designing the props from different angles, using my storyboard as a basis for the different angles I need to design for. I tried to recreated the text on barrels from a different angle while still making it look the same, just from a different angle. In recreating the designs from a different angle, I found it interesting having to keep the design consistent, which is a drawing skill I have not always managed to maintain. This skill will be useful when trying to animating the characters consistently.
