call me sentimental but every now and then i catch myself thinking about the people who lived thousands of years ago, and loved and grieved, the people whose graves i wrote about in a paper. i may not know your names. i will never know your names. but this morning i went outside and i poured some of my drink on the ground and i watched it seep into the soil and i thought of you.

Guess who's back at it, after months of not having the time or energy to do art, finally thinking of painting and writing again!
I'm hoping to make a series of depictions of my main Deities (the Queens of each Spiritual Court you can find in my blog) and eventually, of other minor Gods and Goddesses of my family lineage. Maybe even get some firmas (literally translated: signatures, religious symbols similar to sigils that are meant to identify each spirit and sometimes, an entire spirit court) from each if they so wish to let me. It's going to be a fun exercise to get to understand each of the Queens and their Courts better through the inspired work that is sketching and painting their likenesses.
Wish me luck!

for the ask game: 2, 3, 18 and 20! 🌼🦋
2. Do you have a deity that is particularly close to you?
A few actually. Stella Maris being the first to come to mind, I literally call her Mother on the regular. La Dolorosa and the Mother of Rivers aswell, two Mothers of our lineage who've repeatedly come forwards to aid when there was need. From my father's side I've inherited a pact to Saint Cajetan that I'm still unraveling for myself, and yet he's also important to me as the most direct and recent representation of my paternal lineage's support. I say recent because there's also a few germanic Gods of old who've managed to make their presence known and their influence heard over the years, and still have a special place in my heart.
3. Whats your favorite tale about your Gods?
Any story having to do with the origin of water bodies and winding rivers in particular is specially dear to me, as a Child of the Rivers. I grew up with a lot of stories about mountains and Ancestors turned to stone, with their profiles still clearly discernible in the rock, and also of Ancestors turning to plants and flowers, their spirits still available to aid us in that form. Ancestors are Gods to me, and all the Gods I worship are family, even if very distant family members sometimes. I can't pick a favorite. They all remind me of very special moments of my childhood and of loved family members. Any of the stories about the Ancestors and the Land, and Ancestors becoming part of the Landscape, that I grew up with are my favorite.
18. Do you have any food or drink that is spiritually important?
Many!!! I was just thinking about this yesterday actually. There's certain plants that we traditionally make infusions of to ease spirit communication, to Gods, to Nature Spirits and to Ancestors. Anything (food, herbs, produce) grown or made in the land I currently live in, I also consider sacred as I see it as a direct blessing from the Land Spirits to our family. Rice is particularly sacred, as is corn and a few kinds of beans. Some drinks spiritually important to me are coffee, milk, water, rum and other high alcohol content drinks like vodka.
20. Do you believe in fairies, nymphs or nature spirits?
Yes to fairies and nature spirits, both things have a big place in my family's traditions. I grew up learning about them and how to keep good relations with them. Nymphs, yes? question mark? I'm not particularly knowledgeable about hellenistic traditions but I'd tentatively see them as separate and different from what I grew up with. I do believe they exist, I just have no business with them.
Thanks for asking!

I'm really just here for the ~vibes~ now but!!! there is some cool people that I enjoy seeing on my dash right now, including @brightgnosis @musingmelsuinesmelancholy @adderstruck

Polytheist asks 1,6, and 12
1. How long have you been worshiping?
Depends on who we're talking about! My longest standing relationship is with the Blue Queen, Stella Maris. I vowed myself to Her when I was just a child, more than 12 years ago. And while I feel silly looking back to that night, I have to acknowledge that She, Goddess or Saint, did take my vow seriously, much to my own surprise even. I have to thank Her influence for pretty much everything I am grateful about in my life nowadays.
6. What brought you to your current path?
The chaotic series of times that I've said "yes and" to the Gods' faces. My constant juggling between different parts of me that somehow make up the whole and somehow still find ways to retain their individuality. My Ancestors' constant encouragement, to find my own way and to make my own path when I couldn't otherwise find a way, for my own sake and for those to come.
12. What are your views on virginity? Is it worth anything spiritually?
I don't really have a set mind on this yet. Maybe one day I will, but I have to admit I have personal quarrels with the topic that make it hard for me to set my mind. My family has defined views on almost everything, from the menarche to what intercourse does to our spirits... but for some reason, the concept of virginity was only ever mentioned in relation to the Mother of God, and as a choice to make, not something that can nor should ever be imposed on anybody.
Thank you for asking! ♡
