this is a loving reminder that just because your character is set in a specific universe, doesn't mean they have to stay there. likewise, other people's muses might be originally based in a particular world, but that absolutely doesn't mean that they want to keep them in that world. the wonderful part of the rpc is that we actually don't need to take things so seriously! what does it matter if ted lasso woke up in the same universe as tony stark? does it really make any massive issue for us to put shrek and kaz brekker into the same thread? not at all! go wild! don't let the fictional boundaries of fictional franchises stop you from having fun! the purpose of the rpc is to have a good time with one another: we don't need to have a fully fleshed out reason for these characters to interact! we can just throw them together and see what happens! so go forth, have tons of fun, and don't let logic stand in the way of anything on this dash!

some vibes that i absolutely think need to be explored in a dnd thread (bc baldur's gate 3 has the lot of us CAUGHT!)

first, characters sitting by the campfire. cooking a nice meal with the supplies they've gathered along the way. maybe they use a very highly sought-after ration as a treat after a long day, like cream or fresh meat or a spice of some sort. they sit around the blaze together, and tell stories of their earlier travels, adding ingredients to the meal and fuel to the fire, and bonding as they discuss what's next in their shared adventure.

i also love the potential of them walking together along a long, winding country road! maybe they pick some flowers idly, or for each other, or maybe they find herbs or vegetables or fruits to add to their supplies. maybe they overhear footsteps up ahead and have to decide between keeping to the path or rushing into the nearby stream to avoid being seen or smelled. perhaps they have a horse, or two horses, or even a carriage, or maybe they're just walking along together. they could discuss what's next in a journey, or their choices from earlier encounters. if we think of roads as liminal spaces, this is an opportunity for many things to be happening, from a fallen tree blocking the road, to the road forking at a junction in the woods, or enemies/allies travelling along the same path, or even a side quest of sorts awaiting them in the woods!

character A meets character B when they're wounded and unconscious, and brings them back to their camp, either out of fear of what might happen if they don't, or for concern for B, or maybe they recognize them from somewhere! they nurse them back to health, and have to fend off attacks along the way because B is too weak to retaliate, and ultimately it leads to a curious bond where neither are willing to separate from the other, but they also don't know nearly enough about each other to understand what makes them trust each other so much.

the last one for this post: the two characters have travelled a long way. they're tired and weary, battered and bruised from past battles, and they find themselves in a merry kingdom that welcomes them heartily to a party, where they get to eat and rest and bathe and dress in finery and attend a ball together. and this may sound romantically leaning, but i also think it works in a platonic sense or a parental sense, because i think the concept of watching someone you've grown to care about finally laugh and smile and enjoy themselves after a long, brutal journey, is smth that would make many people very happy. and they get pulled to their feet for a dance, and this night of levity and merriment, as beautiful as it is, still inspires a transformation in the journey. perhaps the more experienced or worn-out of the two decides to slip away in the middle of the night, leaving a letter that begs the other to stay where they're happy and safe and allow them to finish the journey alone. or maybe they're about to leave but the other character intercepts. like there's so many outcomes for this one besties!!

hi my beloveds! i'm about to undergo a series of rapid and jarring changes in my life, but i wanted to cope with that by reorganizing my meme making blogs over here! so please find below a list of changes that will be taking place shortly over the coming weeks:

i will be changing the URL of this blog to suit the new focus that will be maintained here!

this blog will now be focusing on PSAs, helping members of the rpc, and occasionally providing plot ideas or ideas for ways to either make the rp experience easier, or more fun and interactive!

@soulprompts will now be focusing primarily on the prompts angle.

there will be no anonymous feature for either soulprompts or @soulscollection , which will continue to replicate the existing memes in a larger font.

soulprompts will open the inbox to requests once a week, however! i do have a list of upcoming prompts that will be written and posted once i've settled down.

due to the fact that this blog will be answering rpc related questions, and the fact that it may feel quite daunting to ask these questions without the anonymous feature, i'm choosing to bring back anon! but any abuse of this feature will result in it being switched off.

i'm starting a new part of my life that will take full priority, so i may be slower and less active, but i do intend to be here within reason! i think we all understand that this time of year is particularly hectic for most of the dash, so i appreciate you all, and i hope you're finding things easier and more do-able!

also i notice there's many new faces here and so it's time for another introduction post!

hi! my name is blue. i have been writing memes for three years now, and been part of the rpc for 8. i've written a female OC for all of those eight years, and recently started writing a multi-muse blog (but it's the most unsettling feeling EVER, so kudos to anyone and everyone who has mastered the art of the multi!)

i recently switched off the anonymous feature in my inbox, which is a switch i encourage people to make if it makes them feel more comfortable. i write requested memes over here, my own memes on @soulprompts and i'm in a slow process of increasing the font size of all these memes on @soulscollection !

i don't write lyric-based memes, nor memes that come from movies, games or tv shows, mainly because i can't seem to listen to them without forgetting why i started it, so i'll watch the entire series before realizing i meant to write some of the lines throughout! i also have some other limits, but the lyrics and lines are the most common request, and i'm afraid i just cannot write them!

what is force-shipping? (a PSA!)

what force-shipping IS:

guilting a partner into agreeing to a ship after initially declining the offer.

sending romantic or otherwise inappropriate (inappropriate because THEY SAID NO TO THE SHIP) memes despite them saying no.

writing a romantic or shippy starter/reply to a thread after they said no to the ship.

(listen this list will not end, let me finish this up with a very firm final remark:)

NOT RESPECTING YOUR PARTNER SAYING NO TO YOUR SHIP REQUEST.

what force-shipping is NOT:

asking your writing partners if they'd like to plot a romantic ship with you.

listen. forcing a ship is a conscious effort. if you're not able to respect your writing partners' decisions and choices when it comes to literal role play, then you need to step back and re-evaluate until you're able to do so.

BUT. you are NEVER forcing a ship simply by asking someone if they'd be interesting in shipping with you. it might be scary to ask. but once you respect their rules and boundaries, you're fine! there's never any harm in asking! just make sure you respect and honour their response, regardless of whether they say "yes", "no", or "maybe once we test their chemistry".

so i've been seeing a lot of people worrying that they're not writing or doing or saying the right thing on the dash, and in business studies, they talk a lot about the intended or target audience of a specific service, product, etc. and i think that if we were to apply that same logic to the rpc or writing communities within tumblr and as a whole, it might help ease that very familiar anxiety when we lose a follower, or when we worry that a quiet dash is somehow reflective of our writings.

for example, the huge amount of people who reached out to me about concerns that they were doing something wrong, because they're losing followers, i think we need to reframe that whole mindset. when we write content, it's for a specific audience of people who like the same things that we like and write about.

we can't change the opinions of people who, for example, don't like angst, and if people don't feel comfortable writing anything more than a peck on the cheek, that's absolutely their choice, also! and so, when we might lose a follower, or several followers, it's a hell of a lot more likely that they just unfollowed because they didn't vibe with the same things you vibed with, and there's nothing wrong with what you wrote, there's nothing wrong with their opinions, but neither are going to change, so it's for the best that we part ways. right?

i have this theory that the rpc in particular is so hyper-aware of certain toxic behaviours, or the history of call-out culture, that maybe we instinctively assume we DID do something wrong when someone unfollows or blocks us. but it's really not the case at all. tumblr is a place of strong opinions, and if we did something wrong to warrant the block or unfollowing, then we'd definitely be told about it. there's absolutely zero doubt in my mind as to that. so when we lose a follower, it's more than likely just a difference in tastes or opinions. nobody did anything wrong. establishing healthy boundaries is a good thing! and much more to the point, the people that remain mutuals with you ARE the intended audience of your content, because they stayed, because they like your work.

TL;DR: unfollowing someone or blocking them is not a bad thing. being unfollowed or blocked by someone is also not inherently a bad thing. we are all individual people with different interests and aversions, likes and dislikes, and there's no sense in trying to transform them to suit a different audience. it just means that you're not catering to your own comforts and likes, and it'll lead to bitterness and unhappiness in what should be a perfectly enjoyable hobby. now go forth, drink water, grab a snack, and get some fresh air!

okay i'm back again with good news on the "search for accessibility extensions or other methods of making the internet accessible for you lovely angels" front!

now this is the link to the website where i found all this information, and honestly it seems far more concise and neat and tidy to provide this link and the information within rather than providing a gigantic list of extensions organized in terms of which browser they work on!

but just in case, i'll do my best to explain what the link contains.

so it has ways of increasing and decreasing the font size for all websites accessed on chrome, firefox, microsoft edge and opera (which i'd never heard of before now, so we're all learning!)

INCREASING FONT SIZE IN CHROME

so up in the TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER of your screen, directly below the "X", is a vertical column of three dots, like this ":" but with another dot in the middle.

you click on the three vertical dots, and select SETTINGS (this is the third option from the bottom!)

this opens a new tab, and on the LEFT side of this tab, is a list of categories. you'll want to scroll down to the FIFTH category, which says "APPEARANCE". clicking it will bring you to a list of options!

at the BOTTOM of the list of options there are three options of interest: FONT SIZE (it's automatically at a medium size, but you can make it large, very large, or small, very small!)

BUT there is also an option called PAGE ZOOM that allows you to increase the size of EVERYTHING on your screen, so font, images, everything!

there's also CUSTOMIZE FONT which is quite useful but i think the other two cover things very nicely!

INCREASING FONT SIZE IN FIREFOX

go back to the TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER of the screen, directly below the "X", and you'll see a small icon that has three horizontal lines in it (the website called it a hamburger, which was very cute but maybe a little confusing!)

click the three horizontal lines, and then go down to settings (which is fourth from the bottom of the list!) and click it

this brings you into the "GENERAL SETTINGS", and that's exactly where you need to be!

scroll down a little bit until you see the title "LANGUAGE AND APPEARANCE"

here you can adjust the overall view of the websites (i.e. light or dark) or adjust the font size, adjust the colors of the screen, and adjust the default zoom of the overall screen!

INCREASING FONT SIZE IN MICROSOFT EDGE

we're back at the TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER of the screen again! this time click the "..." button that's under the "X" button, but a little bit to the left.

select "SETTINGS" which should be THIRD from the bottom.

on the LEFT, there's a list of options, and you need to click the THIRD option, "APPEARANCE".

now, if you scroll ALL the way to the very bottom, you'll see FONT SIZE, but at the top you can adjust the overall appearance (light or dark) and even the colouring of the windows if you want, but right below the themes, there's the ZOOM setting option, and you can adjust the overall zoom of the entire screen from there!

INCREASING FONT SIZE IN OPERA

fair warning, i do not have access to the opera browser, i'm just going from what i see on the link posted at the top of this post!

launch the browser and click the "EASY SETUP" icon in the TOP-RIGHT CORNER.

select "GO TO FULL BROWSER SETTINGS" from the menu.

once you enter that tab, scroll down to the APPEARANCE section.

there, you should be able to adjust the font size and appearance accordingly to your hearts content!

okay i'm actually gonna make a special accessibility post soon with links to stuff that can make THE ENTIRE INTERNET more accessible bc like. yes, you can obviously ask me to not minimize my font, that will never be an issue! but it's not as if the entire internet is just ol' soulmemes, so it doesn't seem very fair for me to just say "yup!" and leave people with no easy way of accessing OTHER internet sites.

so i'll be doing that this evening, but i'm gonna leave a quick sampling of what has accidentally proven useful to me in the past, and it isn't even an extension!

if you press ctrl and + together at the same time, the stuff on your screen gets bigger. this applies to font, images, anything on the browser! (or definitely google chrome, at least!)

there is a tonne of proper extensions, but the ctrl method is like. you can zoom in a LOT. and the same with ctrl and - for my besties who struggle with the larger fonts! i will still make the proper post bc i think it'd be a very useful thing to have, but i accidentally use the ctrl method a lot, so i hope that helps until i get the time to sit down and test out some of the extensions!
