Developmental edit of the soul epilogue is done, now I gotta SPAG and send to my beta and then do my final paranoia pass where I read it out loud to myself to make sure it flows.

However, I also have to travel for work this week and my beta is going out of town so idk when it'll be up, maybe a week from tomorrow? SO WEIRD THAT IT WILL FINALLY BE DONE-DONE?! What will I even do with my life?

32. If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be?

I would probably change my college major, and I'd start taking writing seriously a lot earlier than I did. But then, without my major I wouldn't have the job I have now, so I don't know. I'd also do a couple things to change some health outcomes as well, I suppose, and maybe that would be the number one!

55. What's the one talent you wish you had?

I wish I could play a musical instrument in a fashion that's beyond perfunctory. Piano lessons for ten years, guitar for two, and the best I can do is the basics.

👀 What’s an idea you had for a fic that you never did anything with?

I did a teensy little bit with a Hellcheer pioneer/western thing, but I never could get it off the ground or really get inspired to do much more than my initial burst of brainstorming.

✏️ The first fanfiction you ever wrote? (doesn’t have to be a posted fic)

Oh, God, it was X-Files fic that I wrote with my best friend when we were in maaaaybe sixth or seventh grade? It was... horrifically embarrassing, and I have no idea what happened to any of it, but it exists! A lot of it was written in notebooks between classes, and I have a horrible feeling those notebooks are boxed up in my childhood basement somewhere.

⛰ Hardest fic to write?

Probably a hollow tree. It's just so far outside my style/comfort zone, and it was an interesting challenge to write something midwestern gothic and spooky and a little off.

📬 The best comment you ever recieved?

It would be very hard to pick just one, as I have so many amazing regular commenters who leave such lovely things on my fic. Overall, though, anything that gets really in depth and picks out bits to comment on and finds deeper meaning really makes me smile.

😊 The fic that you’re the most proud of?

In the Hellcheer fandom, definitely to get my soul known again. It has been a labor of love, and this community has, on the whole, been so generous and receptive.

🪜 Tell us a random fact about any fic!

The bar Chrissy and Eddie go to in the New York City chapter of soul is based on the Alphabet City dive bar where I hung out during college, and once a drunk woman came into the bathroom stall I was using and dropped trou and tried to pee on me. So I like to think I replicated the experience through their Thanksgiving adventures.

Unedited! It's a mess!

The phone rings when he’s halfway through his third refinement of the bridge, jolting him back to reality. He gropes for the receiver, mostly to shut it up, and it’s only when he bites out a gruff, “hello?” that he remembers who’s likely on the other end. There’s silence on the line. One breath, then two, then, “hi, sorry, I’m looking for Eddie?”  Her voice is tiny. Soft and breathy and he can’t figure out if it’s a put-on, but he doesn’t care because it’s making him think of how she sounded when he was going down on her.  “Hey, yeah, this is… hey, Chrissy?”  “Oh, good.” Warmth floods her tone, and he relaxes. “I thought I had the wrong number for a second.”  “Nah. All good. Uh, how was church?”  “Oh, fine. Thank you.”  “Are you Catholic?” He regrets the words the moment he speaks them; he’s got to stop talking with a dick-first mentality.  “No. Um, Methodist. Are… are you Catholic?”  “Yeah,” he says because the holy water used to baptize him hadn’t turned to steam, and although he hasn’t set foot in a church since grandmother Munson’s funeral, he doesn’t think the Pope has bothered to excommunicate him officially yet.  “Oh. Neat.”  The conversation is going swimmingly. Eddie wants to jam his hand into a toaster.
