For the three word sentence prompts: Don’t you dare. Thanks 😊
Oh boy, this one might have inspired a whole new AU. The vague premise in my head is that Eddie spent a couple years in Hawkins before leaving for... elsewhere. But he still did the talent show. And kept up with Gareth, I guess. IDK! if people like it, I might flesh it out into a full thing of college girl Chrissy and bar band Eddie!
“Don’t you dare!”
The words are a whispered admonition; Shawna pays no attention and leaves Chrissy standing, mortified, by the side of the building while she marches over to where the band from earlier is loading equipment into a van.
“Hey,” says Shawna to the curly-haired drummer, who looks like a muppet and a teddy bear had a baby. “You guys were really great.”
The drummer stops cramming his kit into the back and turns, giving Shawna a once over and evidently liking what he sees. Which makes sense—she’s in a skintight blue dress with zig-zag green stripes, and her hair is teased and crimped like she’s Tawny Kitaen’s little sister. Or, big sister, considering the size of her boobs.
Chrissy’s never had a friend like Shawna before. She’s half in love with her because Shawna is scary and brave, and mean sometimes. She does what she wants when she wants to, whether talking back to professors or flirting with bar bands in parking lots.
“Hey, thanks,” says the drummer, leaning against the van’s edge and grinning at Shawna.
“Do you have, like, a tape or anything?”
“Uh, we’re working on it. We play here every—”
He’s cut off by the back door opening, where the reason Chrissy didn’t want Shawna talking to the band emerges. The lead singer, carrying an amp, looks every inch as terrifying as he did onstage, stalking around in tight jeans and a cropped t-shirt that shows his stomach and whose hair makes Chrissy think about Richie Sambora.
Chrissy kind of has a thing for Richie Sambora.
“Move,” says the lead singer, and the drummer hops out of the way with milliseconds to spare.
“Hey,” says Shawna.
“Eddie,” says the drummer. “This is uh… what’s your name, honey, sorry?”
“Shawna. And this is Chrissy.”
Chrissy’s feet shuffle forward before her brain can catch up. Shawna always does this—drags her in to talk to guys when she’s not even sure how she’s feeling about guys these days. Not since she broke up with Jason before the start of freshman year, then had some bad dates, and attended a disastrous frat party in the wake of her freedom.
“Hi,” she says, only her introduction is drowned out by the lead singer jamming his thumb between the amp and the door.
“Jesus fuck, Gareth,” he snaps at the drummer. Gareth, apparently.
“What the fuck did I do?”
“Move your fucking shit, man. I’m bleeding out for space back here. Hey, sorry.” That’s to Shawna, who he’s looking at with some interest. Obviously. Most guys look twice.
“Hey.” Shawna nods, then tosses her head at Chrissy. “Chris, come say hi.”
God, Chrissy should never have said she thought the singer was cute. Idiot. Idiot!
Still, she goes. Takes Shawna’s hand and lets herself get pulled into her side and smiles at Gareth, then goes stock still when the singer—Eddie—gives her a once over.
She fully expects he’ll find her wanting. Next to Shawna, she’s still a church mouse. Country mouse. Plain black dress and flats and her hair in a ponytail, and, honestly, she’d wear sexier things, but she never feels quite right in them. Life was easier when all she had to worry about was a cheerleading uniform on Fridays. Choices stink.
To her surprise, though, Eddie smiles. Leans against the door of the van and says, “Chris, right?”
“Chrissy,” she corrects, then feels dumb for correcting him. Chrissy’s such a babyish name, but Christine sounds too grown-up, and Chris is just for certain people who know her well.
“Chrissy.” He tucks some hair behind his ear and smiles. He never once smiled onstage, and it’s a relief to spy some kindness on his face. “You liked the show?”
“Uh-huh,” she says, which is mostly correct. The music wasn’t her thing, but she really liked watching him perform.
“Cool. You guys from around here?”
“We’re at IU,” Shawna supplies.
“Cool, cool,” he echoes. “We play there sometimes, too.”
Eddie won’t stop looking at her. He’s doing that thing that guys do where they have a whole conversation without transferring their attention, and it makes her want to squirm. That would be undignified, though, so she fiddles with the sleeve of her dress instead, and hopes to God that Shawna will pick up the loose threads of the fraying conversation.
“Like at parties, or what?” Shawna asks.
“Sometimes.” Eddie cocks his head to the side, studying Chrissy closely. “Hey, question.”
“Hmm?”
“You didn’t grow up in Hawkins, did you?”

So, I got bored and decided to make a quick index of my OC's and their faceclaims in This Ain't No Place For No Hero! In all honesty, I use faces that I've seen IRL a lot, so Liam and Jimena don't look EXACTLY like I imagine them, but both actors are close enough. I will make another one of these as other characters are introduced.

For the WIP ask, Xmas overcommitment? 🤔
Aha, that is my attempt to participate in my own festive prompt challenge. My aim is a minimum of 500 words for each day for one thematic story that spans 12 years of vignettes of HellCheer Christmases. I don't have much of a track record, historically, though, so we'll see what I can manage.
Thanks for the ask!

I got tagged by @1lostsoul0fishbowl @pipergirl17 AND @pearlypairings weeks ago for this fic challenge, so thanks for all the love guys:
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love❤
The Interview A fun college AU that starts out with Chrissy meeting Eddie when she interviews him for her journalism class and devolves into fake dating and real falling in love. Fluff, angst, and humor bundled into a fic that's very close to my heart.
A Very Harrington Christmas Chrissy agrees to be Steve's fake girlfriend to help him get Nancy back over a Christmas ski vacation and ends up falling for Eddie along the way. A Hallmark-esque comedy of errors with Christmas shenanigans aplenty.
Hold Onto Me Vampire Eddie tries to help clairvoyant Chrissy figure out her gift - and tries not to fall for her while he does. Angst, supernatural elements, and my very first explicit smut lol.
Devil in the Woods A fairytale-esque story where Chrissy runs away from her family, only to fall right into the arms of the devil himself, Eddie Munson (who isn't quite as scary as he seems). Whimsy, magic, and a lot of hurt/comfort.
Long Is the Road Out of Hell I'd be remiss not to add this one, my most popular fic to date. Chrissy joins Hellfire club in the hopes of getting Jason to dump her, but with Eddie's help she gains a whole lot more than that. Hurt/comfort, Chrissy becoming a nerd, and the Mike Wheeler we all deserved to see.
I decided to only do long fics for this, because I never would've been able to choose otherwise lol. If anyone wants to see my top five oneshots, feel free to inbox me!

Thank you for the tags @pipergirl17 and @mistressheroine ❤️
I have made a surprising amount of progress on the next chapter of afterglow.
A(n emotional) snippet:
Daryl felt quietly saddened as he looked at the guitar, though it was beautiful and he wished he could appreciate it how she wanted him to. But as it stood, he gave it back, and after she set it down, he took her wrist into his hand and turned it over, so that he could see the scar. The pictures, from the medical papers in the folder from Rick, they had been haunting him to some degree. This was better than what he'd seen. It was healed. But you could still see it there, the ridges, pale pink and shiny. She seemed embarrassed by it at first, but she didn't wrestle away from him. She let him look. He felt the guilt pressing behind his eyes but he would not break down in front of her. It was his fault.
"I'm sorry, Greene," he said, though his voice broke, he was steady. "You wanted to stay with me. I should have kept you with me."
Basically just like a lot of emotions in this one.

@khaleesa, thank you for this awesome prompt! It was a lot of fun to write. And thanks to the lovely @pipergirl17 for betaing! I hope to work on the other prompts in my Ask box soon.

Hoard
Eddie sprawled on his stomach across Chrissy’s white eyelet comforter and peered over the edge of the bed, like the invisible Bilbo peeping at Smaug. All around herself, his girlfriend (someday he would stop italicizing that word in his mind, but today was not that day) had spread a veritable dragon’s hoard of paper, folders, notebooks, flashcards, pencil cases, and pens of all colors on the pink shag carpet.
Sitting cross-legged in her running sweats, framed in a patch of afternoon sunlight, Chrissy looked luminous as she carefully pried open the lid of a box of new pencils as if it were a treasure chest.
“Tell me again,” Eddie said.
He pushed up the long sleeves of his T-shirt and rested his chin on the heels of both hands in what he hoped was a coquettish and distracting manner, his jean-clad legs bent and kicking his socked feet behind him like he was at an honest-to-god Annette Funicello pajama party.
“Why are you doing this, exactly?”
Chrissy gave him the briefest of eye rolls, because she’d already started to explain on their way upstairs…though she’d been interrupted when they’d passed the Cunningham household’s actual dragon, who’d bellowed after them, “Door stays open!” Eddie could almost feel the mistrust billowing like acrid steam from Laura’s sewing room. Well, the old reptile would get used to him sooner or later. Or not.
“Make fun all you want,” Chrissy huffed (oh, she was cute when she was miffed at him, and maybe he shouldn’t rile her up, but he was a dumbass still getting used to having her undivided attention, so sue him if he occasionally resorted to his old habits of poking and prodding and other sorts of ill-advised provocation, and anyway, she didn’t seem to mind). “But it’s the end of spring break.”
With that, Chrissy pinned him with a friendly glare, as if a reminder of the calendar date should’ve made everything crystal clear.
Smirk (and dimples) still firmly in place, she broke the eraser off one of those brand new pencils, an unexpected act of violence that made Eddie’s eyebrows shoot upward. She tossed the nub into the flowery little trash can under her desk. Then she grabbed a fat, pink, arrowhead-shaped cap eraser from a pile of them and twisted it onto the top of the pencil.
“Ah, I see,” said Eddie, not seeing at all.
Chrissy only laughed at his confused expression, so he lay flat on his chest, chin on the bed’s edge, letting his arms dangle so he could fiddle with the felt tip pens scattered on the carpet. He stole a glance at Chrissy and pondered why one eraser might be somehow inherently better than another, so much so that she had to amputate and reattach, like some nerdy bookworm version of Mary Shelley.
“School starts back in a couple of days, right?” Chrissy went on as she attacked the next pencil.
“Uh-huh.”
Eddie shoved aside her big green binder and slid his fingertips along the pens as he lined them up, orange and purple and red and blue—
Bonk! Another brand new nub landed in the trash can, and another cap eraser got reamed by a wooden writing instrument.
“I always reorganize my school supplies after fall break, Christmas break, and spring break. It helps me stay focused.”
“Mmm-hmm,” he bullshitted, as if he had any idea about systems for focusing.
He arranged the pens according to the colors of the rainbow, remembering Roy G. Biv, the acronym his seventh grade art teacher had taught for the progression of colors. But Chrissy owned way more than the seven basic shades here. There were at least two dozen. Did she carry these to school every day in a pencil case, a small treasure trove in her pink backpack?
“I love school supplies,” she gushed, continuing her mutilation of the pristine set of Ticonderogas, popping off a dozen heads one by one and replacing them with bloated Frankenstein ones.
He knew she had a thing about control, and Eddie had seen her do her fair share of feverish erasing in the two classes they shared this year. But were twelve cap erasers really necessary?
Messing with the felt tips on the floor, he must’ve asked that last bit out loud, because Chrissy said tightly, “Oh, you know. Just in case I need to correct a lot.”
Oops. He’d touched a nerve. He needed a distraction.
“I bet you pack five extra pairs of underwear for every overnight trip,” he mused, “just in case you have a blowout.”
“Ew!” she squealed.
An eraser nub hit him square between the eyes, which made him flinch and blink.
“Seriously, Eddie.  Are blowouts something I should worry about?”
“Oh, I dunno. Hang around with me long enough—”
A larger arrowhead eraser smacked him on the cheek. He caught it before it fell off the bed, stuck it on his pinky, and made it speak over Chrissy’s giggles.
“Look, lady,” he Muppet-squeaked, “you have an eraser problem. And possibly an underwear problem. You need help!”
Chrissy pointed to his pinky. “Speak not to me, nor my Trapper Keeper, ever again. You’re just jealous of my loot.”
“I have absolutely no use for dragon-guarded treasures,” Eddie murmured, quoting Tolkien as he slipped the eraser from his pinky and laid it reverently in Chrissy’s outstretched hand, “and the whole lot could stay here for ever, if only I could wake up and find this beastly tunnel was my own front-hall at home.”
Watching him, Chrissy’s eyes glimmered, prettier than any gemstones. His cheeks warmed.
It was something to be looked at by her, wasn’t it? To be admired? He dropped his gaze back down to the pens he was arranging and hoped his face wasn’t too red.
“That’s it.” The words were barely a breath.
Eddie’s gaze rose again to find Chrissy staring down at her hoard of loot, hands upturned helplessly on her knees, the arrowhead eraser still in the center of her palm like the One Ring.
He tried to match her hushed tone. “What?”
“That’s how I feel. All the time. This house. All my things. It’s just…stuff.”
And she had no other home but this beastly one.
Eddie's heart pinched.
“Come up here,” he said.
She did, lying on her stomach next to him, chin resting on her folded arms as she watched him arrange the felt tips into different configurations with one hand. Gravity made his veins bulge a little; they looked knobbly and greenish-blue in the bright light from her window. His hand could almost be a pale dragon skittering over its mountain of treasure.
He didn’t know what to say, because he couldn’t say what he wanted to.
Come away with me. Let me be your treasure. You are already mine.
Leaning into her with one shoulder, he reached awkwardly into his front pocket and scrounged for the ever-present handful of mismatched polyhedral die, which he tossed to the floor, a field of shimmering stars around what he’d written across the landscape of her Pepto-Bismol carpet.
“Wait.” Chrissy’s head lifted from her forearms. She blew her bangs out of her eyes. “Does that say—”
It did indeed. Eddie had arranged her plethora of pens to read
NERD
“You are such a nerd,” he whispered, creasing his brow and dipping his chin for emphasis. He wondered if she could somehow read on his face what he was really thinking.
Chrissy looked back at him and smiled like he’d just placed a crown on her head. He swallowed. Maybe she could read his thoughts. Eddie tucked her lovely smile away into his own mental hoard, for safekeeping.
“Takes one to know one,” she said, cutting the inhalation for his retort short with a kiss.
He nodded his fervent agreement until her widening grin made further kissing more difficult, but not impossible.
The eraser lay forgotten on the floor with the rest of the hoard.

For the WIP game: Hellcheer holidays 🎄
That's one I'm working on for a prompt I got as part of a holiday fic reveal/exchange. It's super cute! Or, rather, it will be super cute. Once I write it. But I know the general vibe I'm going for, and while it might not get posted until January (per the rules of the exchange) it'll be festive and bright and all that good kush. Right now the document is just an outline of my notes, but I'm thinking it'll be 3-5k, maybe a lil' smutty, if I feel up to it.
Thank you for asking!

For we’re a lie, questions 4 & 5!
eeeeee thank you so much! ok for we're a lie (you and I):
4. what's your favorite line of dialogue? ok I'm gonna give two bc I always give the same one (from ch 14):
“I mean, Christ, Cunningham, don’t you realize?  You already have my heart between your teeth; take a fucking bite!  At least that way, even if you break it, I’ll always have the scar to remember you by.”
and (from ch 10):
“And I think,” Eddie finished, his mouth dry around his confessions, “that that’s the plague that attaches itself to us from birth.  The–– the sickness of youth.  That, no matter what, no matter what, all children ever really want is to be loved by their parents.”  A beat.  A squeeze.  “And there are few things worse than realizing that they can’t love us the way we need.”
5. what part was hardest to write?
every moment where Chrissy is emotionally and physically abused by her mother was excruciating. I know these are fictional characters, but there is so much reality steeped in their horror. at the end of the day, all we want is for our babies to be happy and healthy (even tho canonically they're both dead lmao) so forcing her through all these awful, painful tribulations was a difficult process.

Do you have anything you can share about the spicy narrators au? That's piqued my curiosity!
OHHHHHH BOYYYYYYY hehehehehehe
ok so in this au, both chrissy and eddie work as audiobook narrators for the same company but are based in different cities so they know of each other's work but have never met. BUT then they both get booked to narrate the opposing POVs in a romance series so they spend a lot of time listening to each other's voices (and yes the series is Spicy 😏) and eventually they exchange personal phone numbers and talk/text/sext until one day they actually meet in person 👀

WIP Whenever
Tagged by: @galadrieljones
I've been sick (with strep, yuck) and I got this tagged the other day. I love the WIP tags. This one made me open up my docs to write. I'm actively working on the next chapter of "Your Scent Lingers in the Air". Seriously. It's just giving me so much trouble. And I really thought this post would contain a snippet from that chapter but instead, I was recently inspired by some fanart from @spnfox of Daryl with a braid in his hair. I'm hopping to finish it up tonight or tomorrow and post it.
She reached out and touched a tiny braid nestle in his dark waves. She had noticed something in his hair a time or two, but had always brushed it off. Daryl was always in the woods, avoiding washing up when he came home…although Judith knew it was more as a joke than a real avoidance of being clean. She always figured it must have been a leaf or some kind of dirt or debris in his hair. “Jude…” Daryl’s voice rumbled out sleepily.  “Do you always have this here?” “Wha--?” He rubbed a hand across his eyes. Judith tugged at the braid. “This braid.” “Hmm.” She shifted closer. “Is that a red string in it?” She was squinting. It was early dawn and the lighting in the room wasn't very bright.  A coughing fit blocked out Daryl’s response. He rubbed her back. “Ya good?” She nodded.  “What do you know about Maggie's sister?”

Holiday Dash Game
Tagged by: @justhere4thevibez with her cute new version of a fanfic dash game :)
Rules: post an older fic of yours (it can be a christmas fic or just a fic that you think deserves some extra love) and give us a juicy snippet. Tag five people and pass on the joy!
My fic: Meet Me At Our Spot
Synopsis: Eddie and Chrissy have a meet-cute in the library while bonding over fantasy escapism. Fluff and comfort ensues:)
Snippet:
823.912 Tolkien. Her book roosted right in the center of the shelf, proudly peacocking its tan-colored lettering on the spine: The Hobbit: There and Back Again by J.R.R Tolkien.  It was like striking gold while panning the murky, winding rivers of the distant west. Chrissy smiled to herself—it was nearly time to unplug her racing brain into the sweet bliss of a fantastic escape. She plucked the book from the shelf on her tiptoes, tipping it towards her and revealing a deep canyon behind its home on the shelf. “Cunningham?” A deep voice startled her, intruding on her innocent joy and making her flinch at the sound of her own name. “Chrissy Cunningham, is that you down there?
Tagging: @ashleyfanfic @pipergirl17 @wendydarlingfics @a-strange-inkling @empress-of-snark & anyone else in need of holiday pep for their writing<3
