Using a minority character to redeem a bigoted character is so annoying and cliched and just bad. Why is the show like this?????

Totally.

The far right story has been great so far but I’ve had concerns about the aftermath from the moment I heard about it. Hollyoaks don’t really do aftermaths very well anyway, but this is a story where we really do need to see Ste face some sort of consequence for what’s he done. 

By pairing him up with Azim, it’s like the show are saying, “the Maalik’s are going to forgive and forget, so you viewers need to do the same”.

This radicalization storyline makes me feel like I might be officially done with ste. I know it will be a long thing and I don’t know how it will go yet but it doesn’t sound great for ste’s character even if it’s a well done ‘topic’. Freaking sucks they decided to use his character this way and I don’t really have faith they would do it well tbh or that ste at least would be redeemable after something like that. It’s even worse that it seems like they are going to try to make us feel empathy towards him. I get why they feel it could be an important storyline I just wish it didn’t sacrifice my favorite character to do it. I feel such an ugly feeling about how this will play out. Hoping I’m wrong but just wanted to put it out there...they make ste racist and I’m 110% done. Ugh wtf are they doing. Why couldn’t they have picked someone new, there’s just no coming back from that so once they are through I can’t imagine any resolution to the storyline that would make me feel good with still liking ste. :( oh well. Bye sideblog.
