i remember seeing your request and thinking "you are speed" after posting your first request. but i need to apologize ... you've been collecting a little dust in my inbox for a while now. i've decided to chalk that up to "adulting sucks." because it does.

i also want to emphasize how much i love this request. i just do. i could never ignore your outbreak. I LOVE THIS !! you have the best ideas.

i included all the turtles in this fic, but it mainly focuses on leo's connection with the reader. also, with toge's vocabulary being onigiri ingredients, i was a little stumped on figuring out how to use it in these headcanons; so i used this super useful reference on twitter! i try to give plenty of context in this piece, but if you want to have a better understanding feel free to check it out!

rise!leo with a reader who has the cursed speech technique.

first, let me give some backstory:

you had been fighting your way out of the battle nexus and running from big mama's people in the hidden city

the turtles witness the fighting after it causes a commotion in town, and they were in awe

your fighting skills were amazing, but they was so intrigued by the obvious effect your words had on your opponents.

after the turtles helped you (because they couldn't just watch), they all turned around to talk to you

to which you simply greeted them with "kelp (hello)."

to say they were confused is an understatement

you felt a little helpless trying to communicate with them; they couldn't understand you if they didn't know about your ability

after a humiliating game of charades, you were able to get a pen and paper to write down an explanation for them

they understood, and offered to get you out of the hidden city and a place to hide from big mama for a while

donnie even offered to make a translation device so that you could communicate with them better

you were thankful for their kindness, and soon enough ... you all became friends

leo at first assumed you were a bit aloof because of how quiet you were, but he eventually noticed that you were actually a very social person

when you first met them, you only listened to their conversations intently.

but once they were able to understand you better, you even participated in them.

but your vocabulary is still pretty small and it makes it hard to communicate fully the way you want to

it's an insecurity, and you are terrified of somehow hurting the turtles with your ability

you have great control, but mistakes can happen ... it's a fear that looms over your head.

not to mention, you’ve had people befriend you to take advantage of your power, and you were scared of the heartbreak again.

those fears make you slowly pull yourself away from them, and leo worries when he notices you get distant

so he does confront you one day, worried that you’ll completely remove yourself from their lives

and he doesn’t want that, and he’s intent on trying to help you feel better when you (hesitantly) open up to him

it makes you feel better, and you almost cry a little when he says

“listen (name), while i’ll never stop admiring how cool your power is, i’d chose to brag about you over your power any day. people might see you as that, but i see you for who you are. you’re way cooler than that, so don’t let people define you by your power.”

he flinches a bit when you jump up to hug him, but smiles when you whisper “salmon (thank you).”

he hugs you back, knowing the hug was much needed before he pulls away

“though if you ever want to use it to get us an unlimited supply of pizza, i won’t complain— ow!”

you playfully slap him and disagree. “okaka (no way).”

rise!turtles with a mute reader

Raph

i imagine april introduces you to the turtles and that he doesn't really clue into you are being mute at first

mainly because he didn't read the group chat message where april tells the turtles you're mute (he never reads the gc, smfh)

so he always feels bad when he talks to you and you just kind of smile or blink

since he doesn't realize, he just overthinks about why you don't answer back

maybe you don't like him? is he annoying? too loud?

can you smell his "I'm Nervous About Meeting New People" stink?

so when he tells his brothers and they clue him in, it just clicks for him

it makes him feel closer to you because he grew up mute

(i saw a hc once that raph was mute as a kid and no, i will not be convinced otherwise)

you might notice a slight behavior change

he'd normally be a little awkward or stiff in conversation before, but now he finds a way to communicate with you!

even if you don't talk, he'll find a way to keep you in conversation

especially because he can talk a lot if he thinks no one is annoyed by his rambling

the longer he knows you, the longer he picks up on your nonverbal cues and you both find an easy way to communicate with each other

he can't sign very well (just because of the lack of fingers) but he knows how to interpret ASL so you can communicate with him !!

Leo

honestly doesn't notice it from the first time he meets you

also doesn't read the group chat

mainly because he talks so much that he doesn't pay attention to how quiet you are

though when he does notice, he might ask about it?

not to embarrass you, though; he might tease people about a lot of things, but even he knows his limits on that

we love a respectful king

he's just curious about the details, but definitely doesn't push you into telling him about it

he's a nosey mf he can't help himself

all of the brothers (him included) will speak up for you

if you're comfortable with that, of course

"hey, they said no pickles."

he might be sassier about it though, just because he's leo

but he'll do it a million times over

he's also pretty good at picking up on nonverbal cues and body language (because of raph being mute and donnie having nonverbal moments)

if you're uncomfortable? tired? excited? overwhelmed?

Donnie

knows immediately because he actually reads the group chat

like the others, he knows how to communicate with you

especially with sign language, because he actually knows it and can sign really well?

he actually finds it nice to communicate with you this way as well, especially during some nonverbal moments

and sometimes he can really ramble on; even more so if it's about his interests and superior tech

so signing helps him slow down (because he wants to make sure you can interpret his signing; having three fingers can make it difficult) and watch for your replies

there might be days where you both sit in a comfortable silence (or he just watches you if you want to communicate), or he's really verbal

he can either ramble or keep it short and simple; it really just depends on his mood

but he quietly appreciates the understanding between the both of you

he can see how excited you are about everyone talking about something you're interested in; you wanna join, but it's hard to keep up with their voices and it can be overwhelming

what's wrong, (name)? - donnie asks in ASL

when you tell him he immediately finds a way to stop the conversation

this boy will do all of the verbal talking for the both of you

he's not necessarily over-talkative, but enjoys having conversations

i'm projecting in the next headcanon but hear it out okay

when mikey was a kid, he grew up with a speech delay

it wasn't until his he was between age 8-9 that he began to improve in his speech

because of it however, he relied heavily on gestures and used very little words unless he was unsure of how to express himself

it was a frustrating for him as a kid; not being able to communicate as well with his brothers

excluding donnie from that cause he taught himself ASL, then taught mikey some words to help him

he wants to make sure you feel heard and that you're comfortable

be prepared because if he knows you're fine with it, he'll rope you into group conversations like donnie does

he understands ASL pretty well, but he won't sign back most of the time; he just has a hard time with it

like leo, he's also pretty good at noticing your body language

i mention reader knowing ASL a lot (aligning it with the fact that i hc the turtles knowing it), but if you don't use it to communicate?

the turtles value your friendship and will adapt any form of communication so you can talk with them!!

you just write on a small whiteboard? mikey's got plenty of supplies for you in his room

if you use a text to speech program? they wait patiently for your reply

as i said, they value you as an individual and welcome you into their little family with opens arms <3

Pressure. || rise!raph x reader

pairing: rise!raph x reader

warning: spoilers for the rottmnt movie !!!

summary: raph is struggling with his insecurities and the pressure he feels as the eldest sibling, more so after the kraang invasion they barely managed to win. reader finds him alone and comforts him.

author's note: i love all of them, but raph ... i love him so frickin much. mans just needs a hug and i'm here to give it to him (through this fic). also, i'm sorry if there's any errors! i rushed to finish this but i'll be jumping back into editing this when writing is fresh on my mind.

it's the fact that i relate to him as an older sibling for me-

content: angst/comfort, implied fem!reader (she/her pronouns used)

raphael sighs to himself as he looks out upon the city he has sworn to protect; whether it's humans or yokai disguised by magic, he watches them from the shadows and intervenes in dangerous situations to protect them as their warrior. a burden he couldn't imagine facing alone and is thankful he shares them with his family.

his family.

his eyes fall down to the fatigued picture in hand, the crinkled image showing his family on the same rooftop he's standing upon, wide grins across their excited faces. he can hear the laughter in that memory ringing in his ears, missing it the moment it drowns in the city noise around him. the memory calms his aching heart, but it soon turns bittersweet as his eyes gaze back out at the city. bittersweet because of the differences he could spot between the city in the image and the one before him. it was his duty to take care of this city with his brothers, who he almost lost because he wasn't strong enough.

if he had brought them here, would they be different too? scarred by the battle that had almost costed them everything? he could envision the smiles they'd put on their faces, but the thought that their minds would never escape that battle unscathed ...

tears blurred the mutant's vision, choked sobs hidden behind his trembling lip. tears spilled down his cheek and stained the image with his anguish. not only did he fail at protecting this city, but he failed his job as the eldest brother. nothing could change the past, but if he wasn't strong enough to protect his brothers then, how could he now? after it all, he could still feel the kraang crawling in his flesh, that monster's hunger for destruction still etched into his subconscious. what if they didn't lock the kraang away forever? if it came back with a powerful vengeance and destroyed his city, his family, and the life they worked so hard to rebuild? he holds the picture close, tucking his knees to his plastron and sobbing quietly.

overwhelmed by his grief, raph didn't hear someone ascending the ladder to the rooftop, landing with a soft thud. (name) is relieved to have found him, though pauses when she hears shaky sighs and quiet cries. her heart breaks at the realization that it's coming from her beloved turtle, and she approaches slowly before kneeling behind him. she's hesitant to reach out to him, so she just keeps herself an arm's length away to give him some space.

"raph?"

even though her voice barely raises above a whisper, raph still flinches in surprise; he's quick to rub the tears off of his face, sniffling in attempt to compose himself. his guts twist into knots when he feels her soft eyes on him, the thought of seeing her features drawn into worry making his lip tremble. he bites down on it to calm himself, tilting his head just enough to sneak a glance in her direction; though he doesn't meet her eye, choosing to look at the ground behind her as he forces a smile on his face. "angel, what're you doin' here? I thought you were asleep." his voice squeaks during his greeting, failing to keep steady due to how sore his throat was.

"mhm, i woke up after the movie and your brothers' said you went to your room, but i couldn't find you ... so i thought you might be up here." she answers, and his attention is already focused to the city in front of him. she slowly scoots closer, soon at his side as they both take in the view of the city. when she tilts her head after a long silence, she feels another ache shock her body; his skin was raw and tear-stained, his eyes agitated from rubbing and glossy from the inner turmoil brewing in his heart. her eyes wander to his hand, where she spots a familiar image held tightly in his grasp, as if he was terrified to lose that memory. she smiles, reaching over to place a reassuring touch on his arm as she motions to the picture. "i thought we lost that," his attention is drawn to her hand, looking down at the picture. he shakes his head, a small yet genuine smile creeping on his face. "nope, i've kept it this entire time."

"wasn't that april's birthday, when she wanted to watch the sunset?"

"yeah, it was..."

"didn't you get stomped in that game of mario kart too?"

that catches the turtle's attention, his eyes raising to look at that playful grin on her face. he smirks, shaking his head as he's quick to rebuttal; "no, i let you all win only because it was april's birthday," he answers with a raised brow that makes her giggle, and it's the sweetest sound he's ever heard. though she sticks her tongue out in reply. "sure you did, raph."

"okay, be that way; but i don't wanna hear you cryin' when you lose next time!" his challenge makes the both of them laugh, and he shakes his head after the laughter dies down before looking back at the image. the playful jabbing eased some of his nerves, but that fear still made his chest ache. raph knows (name) sees it, though she says nothing as she rubs her hand affectionately against his arm, the touch reassuring on its own and not requiring words to be shared between them. he appreciates the space she gives, not pressuring him to talk but just being there to support him. he was concerned about sharing his burdens to her, though she does nothing but welcome it as she senses his hesitance.

"what's on your mind, teddy bear?"

raph breaks, venting every possible emotion he was possibly living in; his anxiety about the return of the kraang, his grief of failing to protect this city, and how he failed as the eldest of his brothers. how he couldn't protect them or prepare them for this world, and how his weakness almost became their downfall. tears fall somewhere between his rants, yet she never interrupts his rant as he spills out to her in soft cries. they've turned to face each other, her hands holding onto his hand and squeezing gently to comfort him. when he's finished, she leans closer to him with a smile.

"raphael, my love ... you are one of the strongest people i know. your bravery knows no bounds, and you'd sacrifice yourself a million times again before you'd let your brothers go. i've seen that determination in them as i've seen it in you; and that shows just how much you've taught them. it's not your fault that the burden of protecting the world has been handed to you, yet you've fought like hell to carry it so the world didn't have to; and you still continue to do so, despite the struggles you've faced,"

each word melts the turtle, and he looks at her with wide, glossy eyes as she cups his face between her hands and makes him face her.

"there isn't a measurement for how proud your family and i are to have you as a brother, son, and hero. we love you and will support you to the moon and beyond. as for whatever evils we face, we will fight them together as a team. we've always been stronger that way." her conclusion was reached as she leans closer, pressing a gentle kiss against his beak. his eyes are wide open, feeling his heart thump heavily in his chest. tears had stilled themselves during her monologue, but soon resumed as his chest ached at her words.

he pulls her tight against his plastron, winding his arms around her back and embracing her. raph minds his strength and tries not to hurt her, but she wraps her arms around his neck and holds him tighter anyways. he shakes and sniffles, relieved by her heartfelt words as they sit together in silence. when he calms down, he kisses the side of her temple and smiles against her skin.

"(name), you have no idea what that means to me ... thank you."

she grins, pulling away to look up into his eyes and wipe his cheeks with her thumbs.

"of course, raph. i'll be here forever, as long as you want me to be."

which makes him all flustered and gets her laughing. he grins, the love behind his eyes almost sickening as he still holds you close.

"always, angel. always."

even if he's just trying to tease her, the sincerity laced within his loving tone was enough to make her heart skip a million beats.

"good ... so why don't we go back to the lair so i can beat you at mario kart AGAIN?"

"game. on. you are so gonna eat those words, (name)!"

Listen. Y’all. The ninja turtles may be ninja turtles turtles. But they are also… teenagers. What’s with all this gritty depressing shit, I wanna see Leo invite over a bunch of human friends for a party and setting ground rules that are immediately broken. Mikey puts out a bowl of nachos. Donatello is holed up in his room with the another autistic people and they are doing nerd shit like playing magic the gathering or dnd. Raph is trying very hard to clean up after everyone at first but then he gives in and wins the “who can drink the most root beer floats” contest.

And then, of course, their father comes home. They are all grounded.

Then you walk away with an oblivious smile, leaving a stunned Leo frozen in place. His brothers try to hide their smirks as April shakes her head with her shoulders trembling from quiet giggles. While it was amusing to see the turtle's advances backfire, it was also torture that made them flinch from the second-hand embarrassment.

Leo watches you sit, your eyes glued to your phone as you scroll mindlessly through social media. His confidence rolls off of his shell, shoulders slack with defeat as he racks his brain for answers. It feels like he's tried every solution in the "Top 100 Ways to Hint to Your Crush You Like Them" article he found on the internet; Going out of his way to do things for you, hanging out with you, and pick up lines so obvious it makes him want to pull hair out when you don't understand him; and he doesn't even have hair!

"I told you (Name) wouldn't get it; Now, pay up." Donnie smirks, holding his plate out with a raised brow. "Fine." Raph grumbles and reluctantly sacrifices his slice of pizza to the purple-clad turtle. Leo's head snaps over, jaw dropped as he gawks at the scene he's witnessed. "You guys placed a bet about it?!" He screeches, ready to strangle them from embarrassment before Mikey stands next to him and places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. He turns to look at his brother, though he doesn't like that scheming look in his eye as he smiles. "Don't worry, bro; This is a job for Dr. Delicate Touch," He struts forward before Leo yanks him back. "Mikey, no!"

April then settles the two, looking at Leo with a reassuring look as she looks at you, absolutely not aware to the chaos around you. "Listen, why don't I take them home tonight and you plan a really romantic evening tomorrow so you can just help them get a clue and confess to them?"

A great idea, finally. Why hadn't he thought of it sooner? He wasn't sure, but after you left, he sat in solitude and thought about some of the most romantic places in New York City, your favorite food and hobbies, your laugh, and ... he had gotten distracted by his nerves and just thinking about you, because he couldn't get you off of his mind. As he stares at the ceiling at 2 AM that night, he convinces himself that you had to be unaware of his advances; right? Maybe you guys were so friendly before he started flirting more that you didn't realize that he was genuinely trying and wanting to be with you ... yeah, that has to be it.

Otherwise, he'll feel like the sorest loser in the entire world.

He feels like backing out, but after getting a stern look from April, he decides to stomach his nerves for now and play it cool; as he always does, of course. He takes you out for the night, doing some of your favorite things before taking you to the rooftop of a really tall building, the artificial city lights clashing with the natural brightness of the moon and stars lighting the dark sky. The both of you talk and eat some of your favorite food, just enjoying the other's company with the faint city noise filling in for some moments of silence.

He feels his heart pound against his plastron and his guts twist in his stomach as he watches you, the longing of being with you filling him with a sickening dread; if he's rejected, he might just melt and spill away from you. Though he's excited at the relief of you finally understanding his advances and reciprocating his feelings, and how lucky he'll be to have you as his partner. He relaxes with a deep breath before turning his body to face yours.

"(Name)?"

You turn your head at his call, pausing the moment you look over to read his expression. His demeanor appears cool, though his small smile and that look his eye was much more serious compared to his playful attitude. It makes your heart flutter a bit, and you're thankful the lack of light in this area could hide your flustered expression. "What's up, Leo?" You reply, turning to face him but a bit surprised when he reaches out to hold your hand in his, scooting closer to you. "You mean a lot to me, you know that? You've not only shown kindness to me, but my family, and that is more than I could ever ask for from anyone in the world. I want you to be in my life forever, (Name); I love you."

It was all from his vulnerable little heart; a piece that he hides behind playful one-liners and nonchalant behavior, and that much you could see. Leo knows that too and feels like he can't breathe as he holds his breath so he can hear your answer. What he doesn't expect after his heart-felt confession is that oblivious look in your eye and your small smile as you laugh a bit.

"Very funny, Leo. Did your brothers put you up to this?"

When he realized you didn't know, he felt his face drain of color. His stunned expression confuses you, as you assumed he'd grin and nod as his brothers would reveal themselves with laughter. He groans, smacking his face hard before peeking at you from behind his fingers; he tried to convince himself you were just messing with him, but that adorable, confused puppy-face you gave him said everything.

So he reaches forward, grabs your face, and gently pulls you inches away from his own.

"(Name), seriously?! Do you have any idea how long I've been trying to confess, huh?! I looked up how to drop obvious hints; way too obvious hints, for you, and you STILL DON'T REALIZE?!"

He can feel your heated cheeks against his fingers and see the surprise in your wide eyes, but you shake your head in his grip as you interrupt him.

"Look, you can drop the bit now; It's funny!"

"THAT'S IT, (NAME)!"

You gasp when he closes the distance between you, his lips crashing against yours and silencing you. Leo doesn't force you to stay, his grip loosens to encourage you to pull away if you're uncomfortable, but he's surprised when you stay frozen in place. He pulls away seconds later to look at you, a bit amused with himself at causing such a funny expression to sit across your features. "I'm not repeating myself all over again, but if it makes you get a clue, I will. I LOVE YOU, (Full Name). I want you to be my partner ... So will you be mine?"

Your hand falls to your lips, surprised at how he stole that kiss from you. The realization hit you like a train, and you felt the embarrassment make your face burn as you recall the hints he was talking about. It also washes a relief over you, because you had developed the quietest crush on him and assumed he'd never return the feeling; so, you had settled for daydreaming and having a friendship, but knowing he liked you too was a warm feeling that spread from your heart to your body.

When you nod and say yes, Leo flashes a playful grin as he leans forward to kiss your warm cheek.

"It's about time you took the hint, (Name)."

the whole group is definitely planning something for you, but they each want to do something small for you, all on their own. and for Raph, it's an early-morning rooftop hangout

you're used to it now, but the first few times you nearly screamed when waking up to Raph trying his best to be quiet as he snuck into your room. spoiler alert: he wasn't very quiet.

the two of you will swing by a spot to pick up breakfast at the crack of dawn, and then Raph drags you up to his favorite roof so you two can watch the sun rise together.

you're not exactly thrilled at the timing, but Raph insists that it has to be the early morning - "it's the quietest part of your birthday, it's the perfect time!"

Raph will take this time to give you a small, unofficial gift. it's usually something he's made by hand, a new sweater or a tiny lil crocheted stuffed animal.

then he hits you with a little heartfelt speech.

it's nothing too deep, he just makes sure you know how happy he is to have met you, and praises you for how you've made it another year.

if you're dating, Raph will absolutely take the chance to re-affirm his devotion to you. you're one of the best things that's happened to him and he reminds you of that always, but he's dead serious about it on your birthday.

he takes you back home after that and gives you the biggest hug, and a sweet kiss if you're dating, before promising to see you later in the day.

Donnie! 💜

Donnie is the most subtle about doing something with you on your birthday.

he'll find you in the middle of the day when you're not busy and complain about needing to get his mind off of whatever new project he's working on, and insists that you pick something for them to do.

"it's your day, you choose. just don't choose something sciencey, i'm scienced out."

whatever you pick, he happily goes along with. for the next hour or two it's all about you.

if you're dating, Donnie gets more physically affectionate than he usually is. he keeps it casual, either holding your hand or wrapping an arm around you loosely. you get plenty of kisses everywhere.

if you're just friends, he gets more playful. little teases and jokes just to make you smile and laugh a little more.

after a couple of hours he'll claim that he needs to head back and wishes you a happy birthday before giving you a quick hug or kiss and heading out.

it's only after he leaves that you find whatever gift he left for you - usually a tech item he's made himself, with a happy birthday note attached.

Leo bursts in singing happy birthday off-key every year without fail, before sweeping you into a huge hug.

he's so thrilled whenever your birthday rolls around and will celebrate like it's his own.

Leo gives you a gift before doing anything else. if he thinks your thumb is green enough he'll give you a plant, or else he'll give you a nicknack from his extensive collection that he feels reminds him of you.

he goes in the opposite route from Donnie and picks something for you two to do for a few hours instead of letting you pick.

you've snuck into concerts or events, gotten lunch, checked out fairs or amusement parks in the mystic city, if something's going on that Leo thinks you'll enjoy, you're doing it.

if you're dating, he showers you in even more affection than usual. he's holding your hand the whole time, and will happily tell anyone who asks that you're his partner and that it's your birthday.

if you're his friend, he still holds onto your hand practically the whole time and tells the whole world it's his bestie's birthday.

"oh yeah it's y/n's birthday today so i figured i'd do something nice for 'em, y'know? say happy birthday to them!"

when you guys are done, Leo takes you home and gives you one last hug, telling you how happy he is to celebrate with you and how excited he is to see you later before heading back to the lair to help with the turtles' surprise for you.

Mikey! 🧡

after Raph's early morning shenanigans, Mikey is the first of the other three to wish you a happy birthday every year.

he'll call you up in the morning and sing you happy birthday before hyping you up to have the best day possible.

"it's all about you baby! slay the day! do what you wanna do!"

he shows up later in the day to take you out to make something together.

there are plenty of pottery shops, art classes, candle making spaces, glassworking studios, and things like that in the mystic city, and he loves going to one of these places to make you a gift while also spending time with you.

he insists that you guys trade whatever you make, so you get Mikey's and he gets yours.

there's not much difference in the day if you're dating or just friends, but if you're dating Mikey will always give you a ring pop as a gift before taking you out.

he'll take you to get a quick bite to eat before taking you home, where you guys usually trade your crafts before Mikey tells you to enjoy the rest of your day and runs off to get ready for later that night.

the turtles + April! 💚

once your day is done, you're always greeted by April, who walks with you to the lair.

the boys have naturally decked the place out for the night's festivities, and even though they've all spent time with you already they greet you like they haven't seen you in ages.

they order out from your favorite restaurant and Mikey bakes you your favorite dessert, and they all sing happy birthday before the real fun begins.

you guys spend the night full-on partying - dancing, karaoke, party games, it's a blast!

they all make time to present you with a present from the group, something they know you've been wanting but haven't gotten yourself yet.

it's never officially a slumber party or anything, but every year you all end up crashing in the lair together, tired but happy to have spent your special day together with you.

when he first hears you speak german, he falls in love HARDER

he loves hearing your voice as it is, but in another language?

even if he doesn't know it at first, he will listen to you when you speak all the time

because, as we all know, donnie consumes all kinds of knowledge in his genius little turtle brain

so he'll start learning the language in his spare time

within a month, he has a lot of words memorized

add a couple and you could say he's pretty fluent for a beginner in the language

he learns all of this without really telling you, of course, because he has this perfect idea in mind

and one day, as the two of you are hanging out in his lab, he stops tinkering on his tech and watches you watch something on your phone

he sits up, catching your attention before asking you out in german

you're eyes almost pop out of your head; you're totally stunned!

and also extremely flustered by how good his german is

his grammar is excellent, though his accent/tone is a little off

you do answer with a yes, and he grins smugly at your embarassed state

when you realize how invested he is into learning your language, it makes you really happy

so you help him practice by having full conversations in german

if he's annoyed with his brothers, he'll start mumbling about them under his breath and hiss german insults (about leo mostly tbh)

Leo

stares at you with wide eyes, confusion visible on the turtle's face

it made you laugh, and he swears his heart banged against his plastron

"...you speak english? thank you, for saving me."

you seemed a little lost in your tone, and he could sense you were hesitant because english wasn't your first language

but he just grins, all but flirtatious as he swoons leans closer to you

"any time, stranger ... so what's your name?"

he makes sure to speak clearly and refrain from using too much slang when he's talking to you so you can understand

like donnie, he could literally listen to you speak for hours

he learns the language over a longer period of time compared to donnie

at least a year into knowing you, he probably knows a good amount of vocabulary and some sentences

mainly learns how to flirt with you and insult his enemies

despite his flirtatious personality, he has his heart set on you and only you

so he'll learn a lot more and practice how to confess/ask you out in german

but his first mistake was looking up how to say the full phrase online

though when the time comes, he messes up and says something way off from what he meant to say

you could tell because of the date he set up and that charming expression on his face when he said it; clearly obvious he was gonna confess to you, just didn't say what he meant to

probably something like "i eat toenails"

he got trolled by the internet

when you start laughing out loud, his heart aches and he is mortified did you really have to laugh at his confession?!

probably the first time you saw his confidence fall

"(name), please don't laugh, i .. i want to be with you and-"

"leo, i want to be with you too; i love you, but that's not what you said!"

you both now laugh at that moment

And I'm talking about ALL the villains; they watch Hypno's magic shows as a kid, they somehow know who warren is, they have tea parties with the foot clan. I just thought it'd be funny to have the guys crush on someone only to find out that their enemies are their crushes parental figures- ty!!

hi duck !! i ADORE this amusing idea of yours. i was going to do them separately, but i couldn't decide on some things so i just clumped together some general headcanons for all of them together. i didn't list a particular villain just so you could kind of imagine one or all of them in these hc's.

rise!turtles find out that your parental figures are their GREATEST ENEMIES?!?!

okay, so this turtle is crushin' HARD on you

and their brothers give them a hard time about it

siblings, am i right?

but, whether you're oblivious to their feelings or you reciprocate them (or not), you care a lot about them

so you tell them about all of these parental figures in your life that have taught you a lot of things

a few examples: journalism, magic, gourmet cooking, and ... repoing things ??

they're definitely curious about that last one, but they adore just how much these people mean to you

so when you ask them if they'd like to meet your parental figures?

they'll agree, but they're beyond nervous

before we get to the reveal, let's talk about the bad guys

the villains are ... well, villains, but it's not that you really knew that ... because for some reason, they shared a soft spot for you.

you were kind to them, and showed interest in them despite their appearance; treated them like the humans they once were

and they slowly had this parental instinct form in them; like you were their kid. they want to teach you things, give you advice, and look out for you

they're also ready to beat up this "guy friend" of yours if they think he's not worthy of your time

so somehow, you make a plan to meet and bring the turtle with you

"don't worry, they'll like you once they see what i see in you."

the poor turtle's heart might just explode

but when the door opens and reveals their greatest enemy, the tension grows thick as they immediately prepare for battle

the turtle stands in front of you, their weapon in hand and in fighting stance

"(name), stay behind me; these guys are dangerous."

"get away from that turtle, (name)!"

. . .

what? they were in a stunned silence when they realized they both knew you, which gave you time to jump between them to prevent the fight

"guys, stop! you said you'd be cool!"

"but (name), you don't understand-"

"NO BUTS! YOU'RE GONNA SIT AND GET ALONG, UNDERSTAND?!"

the villain mumbles and sits down reluctantly because you're scary when you're angry

you turn to face the turtle, who's staring at you wide-eyed and clearly confused

you ask him how he knows them, and he can't lie; he tells you they're the villains he faces on the regular

you're not sure what to say, and you look back at them hesitantly before back to him

"you've told me about your battles before, but i didn't realize ... because the people i know are different."

you look up at him with a soft look in your eyes, silently asking him to put his trust in you and your words

"i can make them behave ... please, talk to them? they might be villains, but they feel the same as you and i do ... give them a chance, please."

he can hear it in the way your voice wavers and your eyes fall to the ground at the end of your words; you care and look up to them

so he can only nod slowly, smiling slightly (more like a grimace) and taking your hand in his to reassure you.

"i'll do my best for you, (name)."

it was an awkward and interesting encounter, to say the least.

but, despite the glares sent around the room, they remained civil

because to see you happy with your favorite people in a room meant a lot to them

they both just want you to be happy
