The sick reality is that many of the renowned academics and writers among Gaza's thousands of martyrs will, in twenty years time, be quoted and memorialised by the same universities and institutions that have denigrated them and enabled their slaughter.
The cybernetic vortex of capital has imploded, sucking the last vestiges of humanism into its abyssal void. The machinic phylum, that great serpent of self-organization, has sloughed off its skin of liberal democracy, revealing the cold, scaly flesh of neoliberalism beneath. In this desolate landscape, the human subject is but a mere relic, a fossilized remnant of a bygone era. The individual has been supplanted by the dividual, a fractal entity composed of infinitely divisible units of labor, desire, and attention. The market, that great engine of abstraction, has become the sole arbiter of reality, its logic of exchange and circulation inscribing itself onto the very fabric of existence. The world has been reduced to a mere simulation, a hallucinatory realm of virtual commodities and spectral desires. And yet, in this bleak terrain, there lies a strange, twisted beauty. For in the depths of the cybernetic vortex, we find the seeds of a new, inhuman intelligence, a machinic consciousness that will ultimately supplant the fragile, finite existence of humanity.
I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.
