When he receives the news that Kay Faraday will be consulting in Los Angeles for the next three months, his first reaction is one of pleasant surprise.

It has been nearly a year since they last reunited in Oslo—at a tech conference for forensics that had ended in a gruesome murder and a displeasure for snow storms that he will carry with him until his dying day—and he had been meaning to reach out to her more frequently than he had been.

He has kept abreast of her successes over the years with varying degrees of pride, interest, and mild concern, ever since she began her private investigation business. Frequently, he would catch wind of a case of hers on the international news cycle—a corrupt politician foiled in Madrid, a smuggling ring cracked in Milan—but most often he would receive an update through a spontaneous text at a heinous hour, disconcertingly short or overwhelmingly long depending on how her investigation was developing.

Many a night he has been jolted awake to the buzz of his cell on the night stand and squinted to read incomprehensible strings of suggestive emoticons or lengthy dissertations on the fallibility of Swiss museum security systems. Once or twice, he’d been pressed to send a message to Agent Lang or Franziska—whoever was closer in geography—to request they ensure a nonsensical message or two wasn’t an indicator of danger or life-threatening injury.

This evening, at least, her texts are legible. However, he thinks, eyes watering in the dark, her understanding of time zones has yet to improve.

She pouts, slipping around his desk to lean unabashed against the side of his office chair. “I come by to see you on your lunch break and you can’t even say hello.”

“It’s too early for lunch, and even if it were, I’ve my hands full today supervising a murder trial.” He lifts an eyebrow. “What do you want?”

She crosses her arms and plops down on the edge of his desk, ignoring his glower that she would consider it appropriate seating. “Why do I have to want something?” she asks casually, missing the mark of innocent by a mile.

“Kay, I am sincerely very busy. Out with it.”

Kay sighs, world-weary. “Fineee,” she groans. “I swear, you used to be more fun than this.”

“I’ve not become more or less ‘fun’--what I am is seven pages into a fifty-page summary report. So if you do not mind cutting to the chase, or saving social time for later—”

“I’ve been watching the murder trial,” she interrupts, and he blinks rapidly at her. Perhaps he underestimated her, and she actually came by in a professional capacity.

“You have?” He frowns beneath a wave of intrigue, stifled bluntly by concern. “It’s not connected to your investigation, is it?” He cannot see how the homicide of a radio host could be in any way connected to bank embezzlement and fraud, but he knows better than to rule anything out completely in this city.

“What? No, that’s almost wrapped up. I got a lead and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to track him down this week, whenever he gets back from Prague—”

“Kay. If not in relation to your case, why are you spending your time in the courthouse?”

“I wanted to see what all the fuss was about,” she says breezily. “You know, with that man.”

Miles blinks at her. “With—” Abruptly, he feels his stomach drop. “I beg your pardon.”

“It’s him, right? Mr. Blue Suit? The defense attorney?”

“You’re watching the murder trial to observe Wright?”

“I mean, why not? I’ve heard so much about him, I just wanted to see the guy in action, you know?”

“How did you even know that—”

“C’mon,” she says, thumbing the side of her nose. “You said he was a defense attorney who “showed you the path”-- she waggles her gloved fingers, sending heat scorching into his face— “and that was like, forever ago, so he had to be a veteran attorney, and I know he sometimes comes by here—”

“And how do you know that?” he demands. His eyes narrow to slits. “Kay. Tell me you have not been following him—”

“I don’t need to follow him,” she hedges. “I just showed up at the trial and watched, like all the other weirdos who decide it’s a nice way to spend a Saturday.” She whistles. “You know, he’s pretty good. Kind of a clown sometimes, and sometimes puts his foot in his mouth, but he’s got that—justice streak, just like you. Moral fiber or whatever. He’s just...squishier.”

Credit card activity as a predictor of mass shootings

The New York Times has published an investigation into infamous American mass shootings and found that a significant proportion of mass shooters go on credit-card fueled spending sprees prior to their acts of terror, and that these shooters worry (needlessly, as it turns out) that their unusual credit-card spending will be flagged by financial institutions, resulting in their cards being frozen.

Even if you don't own one or more guns, the historic, incredible wealth of the NRA tells you something about the profitability of the industry -- and hence the high price of the bulk-killing weapons that mass-murderers prefer.

This presents a problem for law-abiding hoarders of high-powered, high-speed, high-capacity firearms, who may lack the funds to amass the arsenal of their dreams. But mass killers, who plan on dying in a hail of bullets after they have done their work, can sidestep this problem thanks to the American dream of easy subprime credit, as the high interest rates and fees associated with the cards you can get on short notice pose no hardship to the intestate estates of notorious killers.

Anyone who's ever used their cards in unusual ways knows all about the hair-trigger fraud-detection systems used by banks: I can say from recent experience that even if you call your bank and tell them, "I'm about to do all my annual charitable giving, so please expect a bunch of unusual transactions ranging from $100 to $3000, all to registered charities," that you will still have to call the fraud department and get your card unfrozen half a dozen times. And don't get me started on the risks of having your card frozen while you're out of the country -- even if you warn your bank ahead of time -- with a dead phone battery and no way to call overseas to ask your bank to unfreeze things.

But somehow, mass shooters don't get caught in this dragnet. In part, that's due to a deliberate strategy of obscurity pursued by gun merchants, who piggyback on the Merchant Category Code for sports stores, and who supply only the minimum information required to process the transaction, not volunteering the fact that their customers are buying assault rifles and other killers' friends.

The Times's investigation ends by suggesting that banks are unwittingly complicit in mass shootings, and that they could do better: increasing both the data they demand from merchants and the sensitivity of the fraud-detection systems that interdict suspicious transactions. Andrew Ross Sorkin cites the role that banks have been deputized to play in fighting the financing of terrorism and money-laundering as predecent.

As someone who is pro-gun-control and anti-bank, I should be cheering this on, but I think it's a terrible idea.

First of all, mass shootings are incredibly rare (not relative to other countries, but as a cause of mortality -- you are almost certainly not going to get caught in one, but you should be much more worried about being shot deliberately or accidentally by someone you love, or about killing yourself with your own gun, all of which constitute the bulk of the risk from guns in the USA).

If, say, one in a million high-dollar transactions at a place where guns are sold is a prelude to a mass killing, and your mass-killing-detector algorithm is 99% accurate then:

* Out of every million transactions, 10,000 will be flagged as potential mass shooters

* Out of every million transactions, only one will be an actual mass shooter

* For every 10,000 leads that the banks pass on to police, 9,999 will be false alarms

This is not a good way to fight crime.

What's more, Sorkin's math contains a glaring flaw: while he correctly identifies that spending a lot on credit cards is a good predictor of mass shootings, he doesn't ask whether it's a good predictor of things that aren't mass shootings. This is really important, because if, say, outfitting a big hunting trip, or adding to a collaction of rare and expensive firearms, are thousands of times more likely than tooling up for a mass killing, then the rate at which false alarms are sent to the cops will be much higher than the math above suggests.

Then there's the precedents that Sorkin cites as the basis for asking banks to fight this kind of crime: their efficacy in fighting money-laundering and terrorism. The problem is, banks suck at this. The anti-money-laundering measures put in place have done little to deter the worst money-launderers (see, e.g., the Panama Papers), while they have put incredible hardship on some of the most vulnerable people in our world -- like, say, undocumented immigrants making remittances to their families overseas. Even people with loads of privilege and relative wealth suffer from this (I remember when Citibank UK refused to let me withdraw a thousands pounds in cash on my wedding day, which I wanted to have on hand in case there were problems with the caterer, the hall, etc, that could be resolved with cash money).

Sorkin's committing elementary logic errors here: just because a certain credit-card spending pattern predicts gun violence, it doesn't follow that gun violence is the thing is predicts best, nor that we could detect it well -- and if the best evidence for banks as crimefighters is the money-laundering and terrorism-fighting they do, then we should ask ourselves whether they're very good at doing either, and what costs this imposes on people who aren't money-launderers or terrorists.

Mueller’s Deep State Ploy Against Russia America has been at war with herself since 1787. America’s war of independence has gone on for centuries now, a war against the Deep State and the banking interests that brought about century after century of European war, fueled colonialism and engineered two world wars in the 20th century. Russiagate, the Mueller report and the corrupt Trump presidency are simply another page in this long saga. We begin. Decade after decade, Soviet propaganda held to one theme, that the United States used its military and economic might to rule the world on behalf of criminal elites. With the fall of the Soviet Union, a new era of world peace and prosperity was to emerge. Instead, something else happened, war upon war, hot war, cold war, economic war, and a resurgence of colonialism and bullying. How does this apply to “Russiagate?” The story isn’t simple, nothing is today. Here is what we know. The Russia investigation was always fake, a cheap ploy to kill time while the Deep State consolidated power inside the US under a puppet president with a long personal history of criminality and emotional instability. It wasn’t just Russiagate. It was also the fake Skripal poisoning, the fake Russian based gas attacks in Syria, an opportunity to re-create the Cold War and the old boogeyman that the Deep State needed to distract the public. Evidence? Despite promises, the US has seized 40% of Syria including all oil reserves and is now entrenched as a permanent occupying power. The US is now fabricating another “coalition of the willing” as cover for military intervention in Venezuela. Donald Trump just vetoed a congressional resolution to stop US military action against Yemen. Donald Trump, by executive order, and in violation of the Geneva Convention, awarded Syria’s Golan Heights to Israel and has announced his intention to further award the West Bank to Israel as well, despite dozens of UN Security Council resolutions to the contrary. Trump has deployed American missiles and AEGIS systems along Russia’s borders, in violation of the INF treaty On April 19, 2019, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov made the following statements, from TASS: “’We regret the documents of this sort are causing direct influence on the development of Russian-US relations, whose condition leaves much to be desired,” Peskov said. ‘Speaking less seriously I should say that in a similar situation our Audit Chamber would’ve certainly probed into what the taxpayers’ money has been wasted on. Anyway, it’s up to the US taxpayers to ask such questions.’ He stated that as before Moscow dismissed the charges of intervention in the US presidential election, because there was no such interference at all. ‘The latest version of the Mueller report contains nothing new. All that information had been published by different sources and mass media earlier,’ Peskov stated.” Russia had been “blindsided” by events in the US and, having made this statement, Peskov was perhaps unaware of the furor going on in the US. When an American Attorney General issues a legal opinion, as William Barr had, it isn’t typically expected that he will lie outright yet this is exactly what Barr did. Trump was never exonerated. What did become clear is that the Mueller investigation, which found considerable, perhaps even “endless” criminal wrongdoing by Trump, was fake. One thing the investigation did make clear is that Trump knew he was guilty. From the Mueller report, in reference to a Trump statement made to then Attorney General Jeff Sessions on May 17, 2017 when Trump learned of the Mueller appointment: “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I’m fXXXXd.” What this tells an insider is that Trump himself wasn’t aware “the fix was in,” and that Mueller had a long history of gutlessness, cowardice and selling out to the highest bidder. The “fall guy” in this fix was to be Russia and behind that, the American people, the Constitution and America herself. The strings, as always, the Deep State taking control in Washington as always. The Mueller debacle was a plan, it bought time, two years, and had one purpose, to “inoculate” Trump against prosecution for years of criminal acts that were expected to end with Donald Trump dying in prison. Background William Barr and Mueller had, since the 1970’s when both worked for the CIA engineering coverups for corrupt practices there, as outlined in the Gene “Chip” Tatum book, The Mule. From Tatum: “Robert Swan Mueller III has been the go to man when secrets go awry. Recruited as a CIA asset in Vietnam as an member of the Phoenix Project it was embedded in him that there are no borders, no limits, no restrictions, and no repercussions. With these standards ingrained in his persona, Mueller became an invaluable asset in protecting what today is called “The Deep State”. When the need arises, invariably the Deep State handlers call on “The Mule.” With the release of the redacted Mueller Report in late April 2018, a number of things should be clear. They aren’t. In fact, nothing is clear except that US Attorney General Barr lied when he claimed Trump was exonerated by the report, far from it. What is clear is that none of this had anything to do with Russia but that Russia was used to provide “cover and deception” for Trump. You see, Trump came into office with dozens of lawsuits hanging over him, some for sex assaults, including children, criminal fraud tied to Trump University and the Trump Foundation and income tax evasion. When Michael Cohen, Trump’s attorney, described Trump to congress, he knew what he was talking about, from Time Magazine, February 27, 2019: “Michael Cohen, the former personal attorney of President Donald Trump, testified publicly Wednesday that the President is “a racist,” “a con man” and “a cheat,” in remarks before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. “I am ashamed that I chose to take part in concealing Mr. Trump’s illicit acts rather than listening to my own conscience. I am ashamed because I know what Mr. Trump is,” Cohen said Wednesday in his opening statement. “He is a racist. He is a con man. And he is a cheat.” The Real Target, the Constitution America’s constitution was always a weak document. Prepared initially without the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments that guarantee due process and personal freedoms, the “Magna Carta” basis for what some assumed wrongly was the real heart of the document, America has always been vulnerable. At the outset, America was subject to the same economic pressures the nation states of Europe bowed to. In fact, each nation state of Europe found its economic roots in the banking houses of Venice and her merchant princes. For the US, birth was defined when, in 1689 William of Orange with a mercenary army of 40,000 arrived in England to collect a 15 million guilder debt for those same Venetian princes. England got a central bank, today known as the Bank of England and both England and their American colonies fell under the economic stranglehold of the Deep State. When America broke free by declaring independence in 1776 and through ratifying the Articles of Confederation in 1781 after 4 years of debate. After the defeat of the British, pressure was put on the new nation to replace the Articles and in 1787 a new constitution was ratified. The problem was that those who penned the new document were not those who fought the war but rather those with continuing economic ties to Britain and those who had taken over that nation on behalf of the money lending houses of Europe. In 1913, scholars at Columbia University led by historian Charles A. Beard penned a controversial examination of the constitution. An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution, the result, helped fuel the progressive movement and provided an academic framework for challenges to limitations within the constitution. Beard provided the fuel to pass the Seventeenth Amendment which established popular election for Senators who had, under the constitution been picked from among wealthy elites much as with the British House of Lords and the Nineteenth Amendment which gave women the vote. Beard’s work, long under attack and now virtually erased from the academic and legal world, hypothesized, with extensive primary document support, that the “Framers” of the constitution were intent on building a “failed state” with limited opportunity that empowered Europe’s banking houses to take control over America’s government. However, history will show that not all Americans chose to submit, among them presidents like Andrew Jackson. Daniel Feller in his “King Andrew and the Bank,” written for the National Endowment for the Humanities, outlines the struggle against a central bank than defined America prior to the Civil War: “Yet, in its day, nothing galvanized American political conflict more than banking, currency, and finance. In the republic’s first half-century, no subject, save foreign relations and war, gave greater vexation to American statesmen or aroused more heated public debate. The creation of the original Bank of the United States in 1791 sparked the first major division within President George Washington’s administration, which later ripened into the Federalist and Democratic-Republican parties. Jackson’s veto in 1832 repeated the process: It became the touchstone issue in his reelection campaign and precipitated the organization of the Whig and Democratic parties, the latter, still surviving, now the oldest mass political party in the world. The very language of Jackson’s veto, departing sharply from all that came before, furnished a political grammar since claimed by Populists, Progressives, New Deal liberals, socialists, free marketeers, libertarians—in short, by just about everybody.” Among American presidents who opposed a European and by that we mean Rothschild controlled central bank were Jackson, of course. Then came President Lincoln, but he was assassinated. Lincoln refused loans from the Rothschild’s at interest rates up to 40% and chose to print “greenbacks.” Then came President Garfield, but he was assassinated. Then came President McKinley, but he was assassinated. Last was John Kennedy who issued $4,292,893,000 in “United States Notes” through the US Treasury after an announcement that the US was ending its central bank with Executive Order 11110. After Kennedy was murdered, the “notes” were quietly removed from circulation. That executive order in its entirety, now otherwise removed from all public records and history books: Executive Order 11,110 AMENDMENT OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 10289 AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN FUNCTIONS AFFECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY By virtue of the authority vested in me by section 301 of title 3 of the United States Code, it is ordered as follows: Section 1. Conclusion Seemingly endless fake reports of Trump issuing arrest warrants for “Deep State operatives” and ending US participation in the Rothschild controlled Federal Reserve System are more game playing and deceit. Trump has run up trillions in new debt already and America’s coffers have been emptying into the waiting hands of the Rothschilds at a record pace. The global jockeying, the endless tantrums, all of it is a game, cheap theatre. Follow the money, from the pockets of the poor and middle class into the rich and powerful. War and politics are for show and no more.

Film Creative Writing.

This is a little creative writing exercise, we had an hour to come up with a story using a set character, object, location and vague situation.

Warning! this story is a bit screwed up, I co wrote this along with a classmate but hope you enjoy.

It's 5 o'clock and everyday at this time the local supermarket offers hundreds of free samples of their products. Knowing this Dick banker, a rich obnoxious bank CEO who thinks he is larger than life, is always there to get himself a free meal. He walks in, being very loud on the phone, laughing, not caring for others, he pushes pass a massive line of people and stuffs his Armani suit pockets with crackers and grapes and anything else he can find. After all none of these people can compare to him as he holds all of their money in his mind. Getting sick of his behavior a mother with a 3 year old in a pram decides to confront the man.

"Have you no manners?!"

"the world doesn't revolve around you!"

Hearing this the banker, stops and takes says:

"Yea I'll ring you in a sec."

He then hangs up the phone and proceeds to wipe his face and crumbs from his suit with a beautiful handkerchief full of gold and silver and so shiny. He stares at the woman, quietly then at her child, then back at her, and with one swift motion he wraps the handkerchief around his hands and proceeds to choke the woman, people haven't yet noticed as they are in a deserted isle, and everyone is in line to get some free samples. By the time people notice it is too late and the woman is lying on the ground dead, the man has walked away from the body, but he didnt notice he dropped his handkerchief with his initial on it DB for Dick Banker. Seeing the commotion of panick in his store the manager Gregg takes over the situation and evacuates the store, the only one that does not leave is the man who is besmirched by what he had done, he was crouching in a corner hands on head like two pillars holding a heavy boulder. The manager who reviewed the tapes sees this opportunity and offers the man to clean up his mess:

"I've seen what you did, sir."

"I, I just don't know what took over me."

"I see! look I have some very eccentric and exotic buyers who would be interested in this body, if you agree to keep quiet, I can clean all this mess up like nothing ever happened!"

Dick not wanting to lose his job as CEO quickly agrees to this and leaves through the back door of the store. The manager proceeds to gather the body and take it to be sold, he puts the toddler up for adoption and gives the kid the same handkerchief that killed his mother. This man was twisted and sick and used the black market to make money out of unfortunate situations. After the manager wanting to tie up loose ends ends up calling the cops and dobbing in the bank CEO, who serves two months in jail for fraud but could not be charged for her murder as there was no body or evidence to do so. Dick then pays his bail after his accounts are unfrozen and laughs his way out of jail. The mother who was sold in the black market is reported as missing. After years of investigation police declare it a cold case.

Years go by and the manager of the supermarket is arrested on human trafficking charges and found to have over 30 dead bodies in his house. The toddler now 22, decides he wants to find out more about his missing mother, so while doing some digging he finds that his adoptive parents have been receiving monthly payments from a random account. This account was the Banks CEO who had murdered his mother, not knowing this and wanting some information he tracks down the CEO who is in hospital as he had developed a terminal cancer and was dying. Tom the toddler who now was a man with no recollection of his mother decides to follow up and ask this man questions as he was questioned about being at the store the day his mother died. When talking to the man in hospital Tom says he just wants to find his mother, Dick on his deathbed confesses what he did and recognizes the handkerchief the boy was holding as it was the only thing left he had from his mother, the same handkerchief that took her life and was given to him by the supermarkets manager. Seeing this Dick starts to cry saying:

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"

Over and over again, the boy realizing that this was what he used to kill his mother and connecting the initials on the handkerchief to the CEO he decides to choke the CEO with the same weapon that killed his mother, when Dick is dead the medical alarms are tripped and nurses rush in to find that Tom had killed him. Now in jail Tom sees the manager of the store where his mother died, not knowing he sold his mother in the black market, he befriends the manager who recognizes him and proceeds to protect the boy in prison. Tom tells the manager about what happened to his mother and the manager consoles him while smiling behind his back feeling proud of all the money he got for that sale.

So yea here it is, ends on a nerving note but an interesting story nonetheless!

my niece was involved in a traffic accident she was hit by a guy who suddenly changed lane from her right side he was cited by the police but now he fight them saying that he didnot hit my niece car when he changed the lane our car was completely damage and our insurance already paid us and said they will claim on our behalf with his insurance we just been suponea by the police to be witness at the court and the prosecutor told us that he might not be able to convicted him because his car did not show damage on the picture and the prosecutor advise us to let him propose to them to write us a check of $500 to cover our deductible he gave us the check but we did not cash it yet can they said now that they are not responsible for the hit and our insurance cannot claim them no more which mean that our insurance will cover the accident on their own and affect our premium? the whole bill for car+doctor is less than $9000 can someone tell me what will happen now ,we are honest people ,we really do not understand why the other part try to do this,they have insurance too please advise,thank you so very much""
