Summary:

The family tree starts off with Jean Louis.

He marries Renée Pierre and they have two boys Ames and Marc.

Marc falls in love and runs away to Paris with Julien Roux, but after Julien is killed Marc commits suicide.

Ames goes to Paris, after taking over his father’s business, and it is there that he meets his future wife, Nicole Moreau.

They marry they have two children, Fitzgerald and Victoire.

Victoire is introduced to the son of an aristocratic family, Alois Chevalier, and, after dozens of proposals, finally agrees to marry him.

They have one child, Carden.

He falls in love with a French/Greek girl named Iris Marie and, like Carden’s parents, they have one son, Adrien.

Fitzgerald marries Gabrielle Leblanc, the daughter of Henri and Sophie (née Reyer), Leblanc, and together they have two daughters, Diane and Cecilia.

Gabrielle’s younger sister, Juliette, marries Quentin Fortier and they have one child, daughter they name Charlotte.

After Charlotte marries Alice Fontaine (a girl and a muggleborn), she stops associating with most of her family. Juliette and Diane are the only family members she remains in close contact with.

Diane and Grant, coincidentally just like her sister and his brother, have three children. Their twin boys, Francois and Nicolas, come first, and Adela is born about six and a half years later.

From very early on it’s clear that Nicolas, despite being the son of a deeply rooted pureblood family and having a magical twin, is a squib. To avoid a scandal, and in part because of their own embarrassment and disappointment, Diane and Grant give Nicolas away to Diane’s cousin Charlotte and her wife Alice. DARK! ALOIS who gains a large amount of supporters that are eager to take the world back from humans and force them into submission for the sake of feeding the vampires.

DARK! ALOIS who becomes Supreme Commander of the Night Court's army and builds an Empire in the name of the royal family (though, it's really in the name of revenge). He employs demons, sorcerers, magicians, anyone he can to block out the sun and plunge the world into eternal night. Humans are forced to live in designated communities where they are unable to leave and are forced to give blood to be distributed to vampires across the Night Empire.

DARK! ALOIS who looks out over his work and one day realises that it will never be enough, that humans could never possibly suffer enough to redeem themselves for the way his family died. He thinks of the sight of Ambroise being run through with a sword while Yvonne's blood-curdling screams filled the air as the flesh melted from her bones and he knows no suffering he inflicts upon humans will ever be able to rival those memories.

DARK! ALOIS who's given a particularly delicious sample of blood one day and is curious to see who it came from. There you are, a frail little thing in captivity (as you should be, the world but be spared from humanity's evil) and yet in your veins is the best blood he's ever tasted.

DARK! ALOIS who brings you back with him but makes it very clear you're not a companion and you'll be lucky if he comes to see you as a pet.

DARK! ALOIS who, despite who he's become and how he's come to see humans, takes quite a liking to you (has be become lonely? surely not?) and dolls you up, fusses over your health because 'you humans are such sickly and fragile little things, my pet' and will have you sit at his feet or on his lap as he works or takes meetings.

DARK! ALOIS who will have you see your own kind the way he does: you're too prone to corruption, to wickedness and evil, too destructive of the world around you. Can't you see how much better off humanity is now? You no longer wage war on one another, you're taken care of to prevent you from dying of sickness, you're clothed and homed and protected and all you need to do in return is give blood and obey. You could never accomplish such peace on your own.

DARK! ALOIS who hates all humans except his darling little pet and who won't stop until the Night Empire successfully quells humanity.

You had been clever and escaped while the sun was up, assuring that Alois wouldn't be able to follow you. However, by the time it set once more, you were terrified. The terrain was steep all around you and you knew that you were still nowhere near the closest town.

You tried to stay under the cover of trees, expecting him to fan out and search for you in his bat form, which had caused you to take little notice of the mist that gathered on the forest floor all around you, seeming to caress your legs as you stumbled through the darkness. You couldn't have a light source, you knew, or it would make it so much easier for him to find you which is how you ended up tripping as you bolted at hearing a twig snap behind you. You tried hiding in some foliage but ended up wrestling your clothes out from where they were snagged on the brambles that you were hiding in as the pain set in and you realised that your hiding place had thorns.

Your entire body froze when you felt a chest press up against your back, holding you close. A pale hand wrapped around your wrist and brought your arm back so that he could lick up the little beads of blood from where the thorns had scratched you, his saliva healing the wounds. "Look, sunlight, you've hurt yourself. We're going home now, stop this ridiculous behaviour." If you try to protest or break free, he'll simply grab you by the face and make you look into his eyes that now seem so much more vibrantly blue than usual. He tells you that you want to go home with him and you'll let him carry you and all you can do is lazily nod your head and agree. Why were you outside again? You couldn't remember, you just wanted to be at home in bed with Alois.

You had been lost in the rainforest for just over a day now after escaping the ruins that Nasana had trapped you in. You were hungry and thirsty and beginning to feel like you would never find your way. The one thing keeping you going was the fact that Nasana hadn't found you yet which gave you at least one advantage. You were following the river now, hoping that you would reach the familiar cliffs just beyond the border of Nasana's territory soon.

You had been listening to the sound of the river when you suddenly realised that you could no longer hear a single bird or insect, like the whole rainforest was holding its breath in anticipation of the spectacle that was about to unfold. With few other places to hide, you made your way into the water, keeping close to an outcropping of rocks with just your nose and above breaking the surface of the water, breathing heavily as your eyes scanned the river bank stretched across from you.

You had no idea how long you had been there but your fear only made it seem like it had been hours before you were sharply pulled under the water and then you were upside down, dangling above it as Nasana, who had crept up behind you on the rocks, held you up with his tail coiled around your calf. You won't be able to fight his strength but if you insist, he'll tie you up while he takes you back to the ruins that have become your prison, lecturing you on how dangerous the rainforest can be on your way back.

If you've managed to escape, it's probably because you managed to earn enough of his trust for him to escort you outside of the shrine and you managed to give him the slip. The first place you go to is your family/friend's home to get some help, you need to get far, far away as soon as possible and you'll need some money.

But no one answers your knock at the door and when you try the handle it's open. Right away, you knew this was Takeshi's doing and you had no idea how far he would take this. Was he really above hurting or killing your loved ones? So you make your way inside and silently wander the house, grabbing a knife from the kitchen and exploring the place for any sign that your loved ones are here or hurt. You had left the front door open and when you hear it slam shut while you're upstairs, you realise that you've walked into a trap and quickly hide under the bed of the master bedroom that you had been in. The house was utterly empty except for you and Takeshi.

You see his feet as he enters the room and you have one hand clamped down over your mouth while the other is holding onto the knife, eyes following him as far as they could in your peripheral but not daring to move a muscle to follow him further in case he heard you. Though, this made no difference in the end because his hands wrapped around your ankles and pulled you out from under the bed, flipping you onto your back. His hand wraps painfully tight around your wrist until you have no choice but to drop the blade and he looks at it in surprise, "Were you going to use this on me, my darling?" He feigns shock as he easily pins you down and brings the blade up to kiss your throat, "I have a better idea for what we can do with it:" and he leans down to whisper in your ear, "I want you to pick where I'm going to use it to mark you with my name. That way you'll always remember that you're mine and you won't try and pull another little stunt like this again."

. * ⋆ . · 　. DESDEMONA NAUSIKÁA

Desdemona has wings and you do not which is why it's so difficult to escape from her home that's carved into the edge of a cliff with a very high drop. But one day, during high tide, you grow desperate and take your chances, plunging into the water below and getting thrown about towards the rocks a little in the process but managing to avoid any major injury. You managed to not get pulled out by the current or knocked out on the rocks, a miracle in itself, and got to the beach of the cove. This was when you heard the echoes of her shrieking when she came home to realise that you were gone and you bolted towards the little village that you knew to be nearby.

You burst into the first public building you can find which happens to be a diner and run right up to the counter where you're already breaking down into tears and begging the owner for help. She's a woman who seems to be in her 50's and she's quick to round the counter and try to comfort and calm you down while she calls to one of the kitchen staff to call the police.

That's when Desdemona walks in, disguised as a human and looking like a runway model, her milky white eyes hidden by sunglasses because as much as she could change her eyes, you knew that she didn't like to. You can't help but scream as she approaches you, everyone in the diner stopping to watch this scene unfold, a few people standing from their seats quickly, ready to jump to your defence. "Oh, this is all a terrible misunderstanding." Desdemona begins, "Please, all of you, carry on with your meals, I'm so sorry to disturb you." And when everyone did exactly that, you burst into tears all over again because you now knew she had enchanted her voice and these people would want nothing more than to hand you over to her if she so asked. "My wife has been having a difficult time understanding that she isn't supposed to leave the house. Isn't that right, treasure?" She smiles at the woman who is no longer standing in front of you protectively, "There's no need to make a fuss, no one has to get involved. I'll be taking her home now, none of you ever need to think of this again." And, looking for help, you spun around to see that the kitchen hand had hung up the phone. "Come along, Y/n." And with those words, you were unable to will yourself to stay away from Desdemona any longer and you felt like you fell into a daze as you took her hand and followed her back to that cliffside prison.

. * ⋆ . · 　. APHAELEON

Your eyes frantically searched all around you as you stood on the train platform, foot impatiently tapping against the concrete as you checked the time again. Two minutes. You glanced down to your ticket once more and your eyes widened. How could you have made such a mistake? You were on the wrong platform! You ran up the stairs to the bridge over the tracks and further down to the next platform that seemed so much further away when you were trying to run for your life.

You took another step and your foot seemed to fall through the ground, making you stop and repeatedly lift your foot and put it back down to watch as it went just slightly into the concrete and back out again. Your world melted away and you realised that you hadn't walked over to another platform at all, you had walked right out of the station and into the darkest area of the empty car park. Your breathing quickened and you spun around in search of the culprit who you knew was messing with your vision.

You cry out in horror when you spin around and Aphaeleon is standing there in his human form, dressed in a white button down with the sleeves pushed up to show the various tattoos of eyes that he had in this form. "Is this why we're supposed to say 'be not afraid'?" He asks himself with a smile and it horrifies you that he can make a joke in such a situation, "Come, Y/n, what are you doing? Come home with me." He takes a step forwards, reaching out to you and you practically leap back, knowing that he can sedate you with just one touch. This must have been the plan because the smile quickly falls from his face. "You said that you loved me, Y/n. If you loved me, you would be loyal to me and you wouldn't be trying to run away!" You continue to back away from all of his steps until arms are suddenly wrapping around you and the Aphaeleon before you melts away. "But it's ok, I'm here to teach people how to be better and I'll start with you, the one I love the most." He suddenly takes on a darker tone, "And I'll teach you to never run from me again."

✭ Alois takes decorating the tree very seriously. He's the type that needs to have everything in a matching colour scheme and all the ornaments in the right place. He will transform into his flock of bats to reach the really high up places or, to make sure you don't feel left out at all, he'll carry you while he floats up so you can reach this totally isn't an excuse to hold you or anything.

✭ However, once he gets this plan across, it becomes a group effort for the whole estate to decorate the manor together and it's often a really fun day with everyone getting the day off their duties to just decorate and then cook together. The tree in the foyer is huge. Everyone at the Leblanc Estate looks forward to Christmas for this reason.

. * ⋆ . · 　. NASANA

✭ Doesn't really do Christmas. But he's happy enough to decorate the place with you and he certainly won't turn down a big, warm meal in this cold season. I think he enjoys the cooking part more than the decorating. Nasana has a truly feral diet before you came along and he's come to really enjoy cooking, especially your cooking or just doing it as a quality time activity with you.

✭ This naga will be all wrapped up in a jumper and blankets with the fireplace roaring as the two of you go about the place and decorate with ornaments and garlands. He comes to quite like all the shiny stuff everywhere.

. * ⋆ . · 　. TAKESHI

✭ Takeshi celebrates Christmas for the fun of it - he likes decorating and giving/receiving gifts. Also, it creates the perfect opportunity for him to pull tricks when everyone around him is only expecting kindness. Expect a few gag gifts or pranks.

✭ He really likes the ambience that the lights create and you can find him in his fox form napping under the tree and all its twinkling lights in the holiday season. Takeshi strikes me as the type to leave up the neutral-coloured lights around the place for the rest of the year even after all the other decorations are taken down because he really likes it.

. * ⋆ . · 　. DESDEMONA NAUSIKÁA

✭ Desdemona loves Christmas! I’ve mentioned before that one of her interests is old movies and she’d just love a chance to decorate the place with you!! You’ll have to lead the way with cooking Christmas dinner though because this siren would likely poison you by accident as she’s never had to learn to cook.

✭ She’s all about decorating together though and the whole place will be lit up with lights and candles, there’s a Christmas tree decorated with faux Pearl garlands and silvery ornaments (many of which Des has made with you!!).

. * ⋆ . · 　. APHAELEON

✭ Oddly enough, Aphaeleon isn't very big on Christmas. He's been around long enough to watch it go from a Pagan to Christian holiday and besides, what's the point of celebrating figures that will not be essential to his era as God? Aphae might not be a fan of all the decorations and such but he loves the charity aspect.

✭ You'll be decorating many trees with Aphae as he's used his money money from blackmailing corrupt ppl obv to buy decorations for shelters for the homeless/women/etc. to lift their spirits. This season is quite busy for him as he's leading charity events, masses and gathering essential supplies to donate to shelters. He spends a lot of time going around his churches too which are always open to those in need of shelter but become particularly busy with the colder weather.

. * ⋆ . · 　. VA’ARINIEL

✭ Oh! Va'ariniel's heard about this one! There are stories from a few centuries ago of humans decorating their houses with greenery and a tree with ornaments to invite the fae inside and give them shelter from the cold if needed. Not many humans decorate a Christmas tree for the same reasons now though and so, without the invitation, fae can no longer enter homes to reside in these trees.

✭ She's so eager to bring back this tradition that once stood between fae and humans and so she's got all the castle staff running around to decorate the place (it's also an opportunity to stake her claim to the throne by subtly putting green everywhere ahem). She'll fly up and place ornaments wherever you deem fit and she comes to love a hot chocolate substitute that the two of you figure out how to make together with ingredients from her realm.

. * ⋆ . · 　. TARUQU’INEL

✭ Taruqu'inel had also heard about this Christmas tree tradition but he wasn't as well-versed as Va'ari. He'll hang off your every word as you tell him all about the tradition's history and he's ecstatic to take part in something that once stood to join fae and humans like yourself! His advisors aren't very happy with putting green everywhere and insist he must convince you to use blue instead but he really couldn't care less as long as he gets to see that big smile on your face. He will 100% take you in his arms bridal style and fly up so you can reach places to hang decorations.

✭ However his advisors give you both more than enough resources to hold a feast in Taruqu'inel's name. He knows that they see it as a way of winning people over with generosity and it's a way of showing off what he can provide as a ruler but to Taru this is all about you. He'll have the head chef teaching you both how to make the tastiest dishes, all under your guidance of what a Christmas dinner should be like and you'll be feeding each other desserts by the end of the evening.

. * ⋆ . · 　. KHIONE

✭ While the landscape around Kanastra Highlands holds some beautiful scenery, it can look rather bleak in the winter and so Khione's more than happy to bring some greenery inside. He lets you take the lead in deciding how to decorate everything but he's helping you out every step of the way.

✭ Khione's very giving when it comes to his people and so I'm sure that, like Aphae, he loves the charity aspect the most. He'll get teams of people together months in advance to organise decorations and feasts and parades. Many of the cities across Kanastra have winter markets and he's eager to take you around them all to buy you little gifts and try all sorts of foods with you. Khione is a very serious dragon man 99% of the time but he looks like a child when he's eagerly dragging you around these markets. He looks forward to them all year round.

notes: I made a little post about this the other day and felt like turning it into a little drabble for our bat boi hehe <3

You had been waiting anxiously at the open door of the manor, eyes scanning the lightening sky in worry. He should have been back over two hours ago and now that the sun was threatening to rise, you were prepared to go out and look for Alois yourself.

A gardener had reported seeing a man lingering around the property a few times in the last week and she had come running inside, scared, when she claims he had made his way into the gardens where she had been working. Alois, ever wary of the threat of vampire hunters, had gone out to investigate himself and you were left worried sick for him. You had insisted on going with him, that you couldn't be hurt by a vampire hunter's charms or holy water but he was stern in laying down that vampire hunters were also keen wielders of blades and you would not be leaving the manor until he had chased this stranger from his estate, vampire hunter or not.

Alois was the count of these lands and he would not have anyone threatening him, you or his staff.

Your foot tapped anxiously against the stone floor, shivering lightly in your summer dress and the shawl you had thrown over your shoulders. Then you saw him! A cloud of bats swarming over the gates far ahead at the end of the straight road that led up to the manor. He flocked inside and you slammed the door shut quickly behind him, having already assured that all the curtains were closed in preparation for his arrival and The rising sun.

The bats dissolved into a mist that took on the form of a man and you threw your arms around him quickly, your vampire lover quickly returning the gesture, panting slightly.

"Hello, sunlight." He sighed out, relieved to have made it back home in time with the sky lightening above him the whole way back, like watching a sand timer spill to its end. One of his arms felt uncharacteristically warm around you and you drew back a little to try and inspect it.

"Yes, and I'm the only sunlight you should be seeing! You had me terrified, Alois!" The white frock coat he had donned that day was stained a deep, deep red and you couldn't tear your eyes from the stain, forcing the jacket off his shoulders and shoving his sleeve upwards. It revealed a gash on the inner side of his left bicep. The wound was leaking out blood stickily, a tar-like substance dribbling down his arm, the skin surrounding it was turning black and purple, his usually alabaster skin blistering around it. "You have silver poisoning, was he a hunter then?"

"Yes," He hissed as you gently placed your fingers beside the wound, the skin around it tender and burning, you turned your head up to finally meet his eyes and your own widened to the size of saucers, "a new one, cocky with something to prove. He is no more."

"Darling..." You began slowly before realising perhaps you should get his wound treated before you worried him any further, "Come to the kitchen, I've been doing my research and I know how to treat this for you, let me grab my notebook and I'll meet you there."

And so you did exactly that, beginning to grind up the herbal remedy in the mortar and pestle before applying the balm to his wound, sitting beside him and listening as he told you all that had happened, how the hunter had taken a blind slash at Alois in his bat form and caught his wing, why it took him longer to get home because he had needed to carry the injured bat in the flock. He had explained to you how the cloud worked before, that it was no different to how you moved your own body but that it required a particular focus, like playing the piano, you needed to be aware of what each finger was doing and it became easier the more you did the same thing over and over.

"So..." You began once the wound was wrapped in a bandage and he was sipping on a brew that should help his body to fight the poisoning without needing to fall into a fever, "None of the books really answered this question specifically but can silver poisoning affect your vampiric abilities? Other than the rapid healing, I mean, the books only commented on the healing." He pursed his lips in thought for a moment.

"I suffered terribly from silver poisoning a few decades ago but I was bedridden from it and didn't even want to attempt to use my abilities until I was healed. Why? Are you worried, sunlight? I can assure you I'll be just fine in no time with you as my nurse." He playfully pinched your cheek and you smiled before you reached up, fingers threading though his gossamer-like white hair for a moment before sneaking upwards to the top of his head.

"Yes and no..." Your fingers traced up the soft fur of the pointed bat ears at the top of his head and his glacial blue eyes widened as he almost dropped the tea cup in his hands to reach up and feel the ears atop his head.

"Oh dear..." His head fell into his hands as he leaned his elbows on the table.

"Oh, don't fret, darling." You stifled a little giggle as the ears drooped with his mood, "You look quite adorable like this, I mean I've always thought you look adorable as bats but-"

"Do not be cruel." He mumbled and you had to try even harder to hide your laugh as you shuffled closer to him. You worked his head out of his hands so that you could sit in his lap, hands threading through the hair at the nape of his neck, tracing your fingers there in soothing patterns.

"I'm not teasing you, Alois, I mean it." You pressed a kiss to the end of his nose with a smile as your hands went up to feel the soft fur of his ears between your fingers. He tilted his head to the side, a slight pout on his lips and you couldn't help but kiss his cheek. "Come on, my vampire bat, let's get you in a coffin to heal up quicker." You suggested, having read in the books that it will speed up the healing process a little.

"Alright, now you're teasing me." He said as he allowed you to drag him away by his hand
