February 8th is Honey Kisaragi’s birthday! 

Although it’s only revealed during a brief shot in episode 11 of Cutey Honey Flash, the Japanese fandom has widely considered today as Honey’s default birthday. It even has it’s own twitter tag!

Couple of notes on her birthday:

Honey's surname name, "Kisaragi" (如月) is a traditional name for February in the Japanese calendar. It refers to the seasonal "changing of clothes", which is all too appropriate for our transforming heroine. So naturally it makes sense for her birthday to be in February. (She has a different birth date in The Live TV series but it's still in February. More on that later).

If you flip the date 2/8 around you get 8/2 or August 2nd, which is “Honey Day” (ハニーの日) in Japan. This is play on ハ (ha) for “8″ (hachi) and ニ (ni) for “2″.

As I mentioned earlier, in Cutie Honey The Live TV series Honey’s birthday is different. In that series it’s February 26th. No idea why they changed it. Maybe they didn’t realize she already had a birthday? Maybe they just wanted to be different? Who knows! This also means her astrological sign is different. The 8th makes her an Aquarius but the 26th would make her a Pisces. I’m assuming they picked “26″ because 2+6 = 8? And then we would have 2/8 aka February 8th. But that’s just a wild guess!

On a related note, Honey’s younger sister, Seira Hazuki (who is an exclusive character to the Flash universe) is never explicitly given a birthday. She refers to herself as Honey’s “young twin sister” though I don’t know if that’s totally accurate. We know she was born after Honey, but don’t know how much longer after. One might assume they were born hours apart but I don’t think that’s the case.

Given that Seira’s surname “Hazuki” (葉月) is the traditional name for August, we can assume her birthday is in August. It would make the most sense for it to be August 2nd. Not only is it “Honey Day” but it is the opposite date of Honey’s birthday, which would go along with the idea of Seira being a negative image of her older sister. That makes sense, right?
