I haven't many at the moment, and I am definitely not at home to the idea fairy just lately so most of these are actually longstanding WIPs that aren't quite behaving themselves and aren't being actively worked on.

Completely unwritten:

Sequel to Break You But You'll Mend, which was going to be later chapters of that story but it was doing my head in so I've chosen to end it at a convenient point and then put all the subplot stuff in a new story. In essence, Sigrid and Tilda (reborn in Valinor because Auriel (Thranduil's wife) went and gave the Valar a piece of her mind for letting Thranduil almost fade from grief though he'd defended his corner of Middle-Earth from Sauron for thousands of years alone, and demanded they send Bard back, and when he arrived he was accompanied by his daughters and his wife (Maudie)) are not happy with how unfair it is that they got to come back but any number of other people there have mortal loved ones who aren't coming back, and come up with the idea of putting their case before the Valar and persuading them to change the rules. It's going to be plotty and complicated and is therefore giving me the Fear, because I don't do either a) plot or b) complication.

The Sigrid-and-Tauriel queerplatonic companion story to My Heart Is An Empty Vessel, which I suspect at this point just plain isn't going to get written because I've run out of spoons where it's concerned. I've written little glimpses of them in EV-'verse, and various other beginnings for them, and I honestly don't think I have enough to write a proper long-form multi-chaptered fic. Which means that the full story of Elrond and co's visit to Dale from the later chapters of EV, including most of the Rivendell crew making friends with the Bardlings, is probably not going to happen, unless I manage some one-shots sometime.

A vague idea for Glorfindel Week sparked by this post about flowers spontaneously growing where Glorfindel is in Imladris, because they can't grow on his grave any more.

In progress in one way or another

Part four or whatever it is now of It's Always Been You, in which Rúmil and Orophin happen to be in Imladris not long after Legolas arrives after the Battle of the Five Armies and take issue with how the twins are treating him; they also meet young Estel, witness the aftermath of his first meeting with Arwen, and then the idea was to follow the characters up to the end of the War of the Ring (Haldir DOES NOT DIE). I am very stuck with this one, and it feels like one of the long stories I tried and failed to write 20-odd years ago - I had the idea but not enough of it to fill it out.

The twins-make-their-choice fic, of which I have about 900 words. I am really struggling with it, mostly with knowing quite what form it's going to take and how the story is going to unfold. I've been circling it for a while now and nibbling at the edges of the problem with various other fics, so I'm fairly sure it's going to happen at some point, it's just...getting there.

A canon-'verse fic for Barduil Month week 2 involving a linguistic diplomatic incident for @myeaglesong which I'm halfway through, I'm just a bit tangled up in how the incident itself will unfold, having done the setup.

Another Dancing in the Dark-'verse fic, a direct sequel to there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me, delivering a happy ending for Barduil Month week 4. I've got a bit done but I've been singularly lacking in spoons this week, for no apparent reason, and it's also from Tilda's perspective and I haven't written much from her POV before, especially not a modern teenage version so it's taking a while.

The Legolas/Haldir-in-Ithilien fic I was intending to write for My Slashy Valentine's event for Keiliss in February 2023. Also not cooperating. >.<

All I Want Is You, which is getting more and more difficult the further we get from the summer of 2020 and I forget more and more of the historical details. Another one where I think I had the idea but not enough filling. I just need to get back on with it, I think, and it'll fill itself out. Possibly need to do that May writing challenge I reblogged earlier and try and write 200 words a day, which might kick it off.

Stars and Arrows, a sort-of-originalfic based on a really glorious moodboard and concept by @mihrsuri - featuring two rather familiar-looking Oxford professors in a possibly-the-future-of-Middle-Earth-set reincarnation story with a mysterious illuminated medieval manuscript, which again probably requires more plot than I'm capable of but I'm greatly enjoying writing scenes here and there.

Two of a Kind, the long-ongoing original novel (based on a very old fic from the fandom that does not speak its name) which I am stuck on in various places. If anyone wants to read 180-odd-k of damaged ex-street-kid musician idiots in love and help me fill in the gaps, please do let me know (but please heed the tags)! I was posting it to AO3 for a bit but got out of the swing of it and now I'm totally out of the habit, though I tend to do a few one-shots here and there mostly for Writers' Month and Writers' Pride Month.

I think that's all of them. More than I expected, but still...! Do please ask me about any that catch your eye, I am in dire need of talking about them, and it might just kickstart the muses...I do need interaction to spark the ideas, it turns out, I'm not great at this in isolation.

10. What work was the quickest to write?

It was either closure or the lack thereof, which I technically wrote 2 drafts of and posted over a weekend but I did have that idea kicking around since 2021, so from concept to post it was probably either with teeth we've come this far or I feel like I'm borrowing all my time, because I came up with the ideas for whumptober and finished them. All the others existed as idea bulletpoints or little jotted down paragraphs before Sept 1 but those two were completely contained.

11. What work took you the longest to write?

While the dark ocean duology did take me all summer after I'd initially thought it would take a couple weeks tops, the winner has to be the first chapter of omens and all kinds of signs which was at 60% done for 2 years. I honestly don't know that I would have finished it if I hadn't decided to post it serially, so yeah little plug for writing serially. It was really just to get back on the horse after having an off year last year.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

I really like this bit where Greez is like 'wtf' in 'I feel like I'm borrowing all my time':

This all feels like an overwhelming, insurmountable task. Greez wishes he hadn’t been chosen for it. He knows how important it is, wants desperately to find the kid before he can be hurt, but it really feels beyond him. He misses the Mantis, misses the rest of the crew, even the little droid and the stowaway bogling. He misses feeling like he understands his place in the universe. His mind struggles to keep up with how long it’s been. A couple of hours? Days? Five years but wound in reverse? He knows it shouldn’t feel like five years, but it kind of does. It feels like the warmth and safety of home is something he lost long ago, or perhaps never had. Now that Cal’s missing from his proper place, it all feels like none of it ever actually happened. It both exists in his memory and doesn’t, like a distant dream. Greez shivers. All of this is very, very wrong. Cere is staring at the fire again, an inscrutable look on her face. Greez decides to fill the silence with: “I guess we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” Cere whirls on him abruptly. “Of course we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” “I just mean that…” Greez swallows. It’s started raining harder, raising more steam and smoke from the fires. The smoke makes his eyes sting. Cere waits for an explanation, brow furrowed. “Don’t we have to avoid…I just mean…you shouldn’t meet yourself, right? That’s one of the rules of this sort of thing, isn’t it? At least, it was in the cheesy dramas my grandmother was always watching…” “Oh.” Cere turns back to the fire. “I hadn’t considered that.”

Apologies for the length of it but I like it both for the 1) 'it shouldn't feel like five years but it does' bit, just leaning into time travel being WEIRD. Also I think I slipped up a couple times responding to comments and referred to 'timelines' but as best I can come up with for fitting time travel into SW worldbuilding....there are no alternate timelines really. Because time isn't really...real. So Greez is right, once things have started changing, they change in the future as well so it all both does and doesn't exist at the same time...idk if I ever went further on the time travel concept it would be along these lines, rather than having distinct alternate timelines.

2) the very human moment of filling an awkward silence with the exact wrong thing. XD It's such a little thing but I ended up LOVING the "Greez decided to fill the silence with" dialogue tag. XD

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

I'm going to answer this one with a screenshot of my ideas list I found while cleaning it up this weekend:

I don't want to sound like too much of a curmudgeon (though the ship has probably said on that one)*, but I can't stress enough how surprising it was that one of my biggest 'nope, would never write' became one of my favorite fics of the year. Now I feel like I can't said I'd never write something. Growth?

(*and just to stress, like...for me writing/reading, don't take this personally. I use the exclude tags but please don't take this as like a judgement, I just have never really liked them and got a bit grumpy about just how popular they were when I came back to reading Star Wars fic a couple years ago)

Hold onto your hats, because I want to rant about how Blizzard fucking sucks with women or any minority rep. And why it'll suck for your fav in whatever MW is coming up.

Fully inspired by this post, I'll be referencing to a few points that @spookykittenwrites made

As I said in those tags, I've been playing WoW since Burning Crusade, so I've known about the company since about 2007. I've not touched overwatch, but according to emp, their rep there is surface-level as well.

It's half me yelling about MW and half me yelling about how WoW fails in representation.

I have 0 faith in them with any sort of proper representation. I'll mostly be sticking to queers and women. I do have a small section about Gaz, but I'm white and keep that in mind.

Onto the bullshit

They're not gonna make any main character queer. This means Soap, Gaz, Price, and Ghost. Farah and Alex by extension. Most likely not Alejandro and Rudy. They won't risk the repercussions.

Hell, Alejandro is implied to have a family, but we skimmed over that part as a fandom.

What they will do, like Laswell, mention that a side/secondary/tertiary character has a partner, but won't put ANY thought into it. Laswell's wife could SHOULD have been talked about by name.

They don't CARE enough about their characters to even solidify her over a facade of rep that will make the queer people happy. It did in a sense, I am happy that she has a wife. But if you're bothering to have a line about her, just add a second. Like Price could ask "Oh, how's Madeline doing anyways?" or "Yea, you've told Jenny you'd stop smoking how many times already?"

WoW-wise, their queer characters are mostly surface-level. Which isn't bad in a world full of queer stories that are queer-centric. The problem is they don't have the balls to upset any fan by making a popular character explicitly queer in their portrayal. Hell it wasn't even THEM who made Matthias and Flynn queer, it was originally put into the novels (I believe Chrissy Golden?)

Here's a quote from an executive producer: "We don't try to put a big focus on it and make it a big deal, we just try to make the game feel comfortable, friendly and approachable for everybody"

I don't know about you, but using "comfortable, friendly, and approachable for everybody" as an excuse for why you don't have more outwardly queer rep (versus "hint around it") leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Because my sexuality or gender identity is uncomfortable for people? My existance is uncomfortable for people, so you don't want to explicitly say it???

but he implied that the devs don't think Pelagos is the first trans character. Fuck you. It's giving JKR saying that Dumbledore is gay, but it wasn't important to Harry's story. What isn't explicitly said in the source material is not canon.

They had, HAVE, the chance to make major players into canonically queer characters, but they're afraid of backlash. Vol'jin would have been so easily bi in canon, especially with his whole thing with Tyranthan in the fucking novel. And that Tyranthan went to his funeral??? even though they're on opposite sides????

Onto the next point, they don't and won't give a shit about the female characters. All I'm thinking about is the disappointing outcome of Tyrande's revenge after the burning of Teldrassil, hell even the whole Azshara thing. I'm not gonna go into detail about how it, just know it led to nothing. She didn't get revenge. She didn't have a satisfying end. Why? Probably because Sylvanas and Azshara are both more popular than Tyrande. Sylvanas probably being the WoW character with the most merch (not to mention the whole thing about a dev loving her).

Farah is gonna be brought up minimally, much like she was in MW II. Valeria/El Sin Nombre and most likely the Vaqueros will be completely forgotten. Maybe brought back (again like Farah was in MW II)

They're not consistent with their characters in the first place, why give a shit about a promise they made. It'll most likely be implied between games that some shit will be solved, or a line or two in the next game. Just so people get closure.

The surface level rep keeps going throughout. We have a bunch of diversity in the operators, but significantly less in the campaign, where the characters need to be fleshed out more than a written backstory and voiced lines.

How often have they shown Alex properly since he lost his leg?

The dudebro's are pissed that they changed Gaz, a mostly 1-dimensional character that died within the first Modern Warfare. Gaz is a good character, there's no reason that they're pissed about him vs them being pissed about any other member of the task force. But I've seen more hate on Gaz than any other 141. Which sadly leads me to conclude that they probably only dislike him due to his race.

But the aspect that isn't giving me much hope is the phasing out of Gaz in additional content. You're telling me the only POC in the 141 is not included in the red team? Out of all the dudes you could have removed?? Like I'm all for including Farah into the red team; but removing the only person of color on the team, one who was canonically in the Ghost Team mission, isn't the win they think it is.

Not to mention the numerous merch of the 141 that have Ghost, Price, and Soap; but not Gaz. With only 1 design containing Gaz.

And don't come at me that "those are the old designs though!" It's in their current website for sale. The 8-bit design is fairly recent within the last few weeks or so. Gaz is a main character in MW 2019 AND 2022. He deserves more than 1 solo shirt that is just the repurpose of the 141 shirt.

Onto the points brought up by @spookykittenwrites

Ghoap

Either won't be mentioned at all or will be excessively "haha we're just pals" kinda vibes.

They WILL play up the dynamic in trailers and such, as it did bring a new group of people to the games, and it seemed to make the dudebro's happy with their bromance.

Death

None of the main characters will be killed off. There's too much opportunity to make money off of their survival. So far the new games have been very light with the major character deaths. In the original games Soap and Price are the only 2 that survive past 1 game.

Roach

They're not gonna make him mute or selectively mute.

I do think they might bring back Roach to kill him off within the same Game though.

Hell, they might not even bring him back.

Farah and Alex

I honestly hope that we see them together, it might not happen. I think they're gonna keep the Farah/Alex line as the raid focus.

As for the no chemistry thing. Depends. If they're seen for 3.5 seconds they definitely won't. Hell, they aren't technically ever stated to be dating in canon AND the dudebro's get pissed that people are shipping them. Again with the not saying anything that'll upset the target audience.

For the Muslim aspect; not sure they even think about their own characters enough to have her religion mentioned in game. (They can't even get the bios straight when they update the game, I'm not gonna complain about this here)

Laswell's Wife

Important thing to remember, the line about her wife isn't even in every playthrough. It's a hidden one.

No doubt about her never being mentioned in my head. It only got past the dudebros because it's a lesbian couple. If it was a dude talking about his husband I doubt it would have gotten into the game.

US can do no Wrong

Definitely, the entirety of the blame will be on Russians. They did in fact blame a real US warcrime on Russians in the past.

Interestingly enough, the most recent info I can find is that the Military took out their funding post-sexual harassment allegations from Activision-Blizzard in December 2022.

Military Propaganda is still Military Propaganda even if the Military isn't funding it.

Moral of the story? The comfort of the dudebros, the target demographic for the game, will always be priority. They won't risk hurting their profits by claiming a character is queer or putting too much importance on a woman. Whatever their comfort level is, is what that we'll be getting.

I'm gonna stop my rant here... Don't go into the next game hoping to get some good rep.

On a slightly positive note: they are getting better. Farah was genuinely a good character in MW 2019. The fact that there's a mention of a same-sex partner, even in passing, is pretty good.

Also, enjoy the Christmas merch shirts that I found of Price and Ghost.

7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?

the closest i can say is wisp. i technically don't hate wisp, i love her both as a warframe to play as well as aesthetically but also she is so obviously tryhard sexybait, and with the amount of porn i've seen it just goes around to becoming a complete turnoff. i automatically hate any porn fanart of wisp but i love love love fanart of wisp that shows off her beauty in other ways. u can show erotic beauty without being straight up pornographic

i do recognise the hypocrisy in this with the shit i've drawn of other warframes but i like to think it's just me balancing everything out

8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

again, not everyone but a BIG FUCKING CHUNK of the fandom: margulis isn't a bad choice and is just as much of an identity of "her" as the other facets of her identity (though i am aware of how many ppl chose margulis solely bc boobs and face, rip). they're parts of a whole, just that post-new war she has to prioritise different values. i'm someone who very much appreciates compassionate characters and i think the margulis identity encapsulates that very well and in some cases would be helpful especially for the drifter/operator. but i personally believed that natah was a clean slate for "her" to start over, and that post-new war needed a driving force to protect in the grand scheme of things - compassion wouldn't be enough

somehow it's only lotus-pickers who seem to have a superiority complex over this - i've never seen a natah or margulis picker who had beef over what other ppl chose 🙃

9. worst part of canon

all of the early quests especially alad v's questline have bloody awful storytelling. alad v's quests are a complete mess and even i still don't know the proper order of what happened to him (i'm pretty sure i did all his quests save for the amalgam arc in reverse). almost all of the early quests are based on retired events/operations and new players aren't even given background summaries explaining them. vor's prize as a tutorial and story quest is HORRIBLE. so much pre-sacrifice stuff has been retconned, even lore from tsd/coh/tww

10. worst part of fanon

any ppl who thought natah/lotus deserved to die for 'betraying' the operator and were even hoping we'd have the option to kill her LMFAOOOOO y'all stupid to think they'd include that

scout/sniper - i fucking hate that ship i see it everywhere and is the only tf2 ship tag i have blocked on tumblr. most basic bitch shit ever

heavy/medic - i love this ship with all my heart but its shippers need to calm the fuck down bc they think this ship is canon just bc the voice actors ship it as well. at best it's heavily implied in game but is ultimately still not canon, and shippers get so mad when you tell them that. very a much a "stop making the rest of us look bad" moment

"Hey, what if MK was a horribly written telenovela with a poorly conceived mystery storyline that's tied together in the most precarious of ways with nonsensical plotpoints and was also endgame Hakukai" So here's the start to my Hakukai longfic! I have a lot of things to say about this story so I'll just ramble about it at length beneath the cut if anyone's interested in my nonsense notes. Otherwise,

I've been working on this thing on and off for a year and a half now, it lives rent free in my head every day and has been editted, restructured, and rewritten a lot. I've been very apprehensive about sharing it. ...To be honest, I still am! It's a chaotic story where I just allowed myself to write the most self-indulgent thing I could muster. This entire plot is an amalmagation of random things and ideas I like. It feels like a niche concept that is very messy and ???¿¿¿¿??? why did I make this

But, I guess that also makes it a very "me" story, so having fun with it and writing something that just brought me joy is what matters most, ultimately.

I'm very thankful to everyone who has read the outline and concept for it or just listened to me ramble about the incoherent plot and characters or cheering me on when I've been kinda anxious about it— it's thanks to that support despite this being such a specific and ¿¿¿ idea that I've found the courage to actually share it. I'm very grateful and I hope you guys can enjoy something in it o)-(

So, about the fic,

It's a story about Hakuba! I think we are all well aware that jokes about his long absences and infrequent appearances are very commonplace (where in the world is hakuba saguru??? TT) and it unfortunately leads to him being forgotten and overlooked often. The initial concept that inspired this fic was "Hey, what if Hakuba stopped showing up for real?" and explore the implications this would have on the MK storyline (and Kaito, by extension). I wanted to make a plot where he was allowed to be the protagonist of his own story, highlight his worth as a detective, his role in the main narrative, and the depth of his relationship with Kaito. It's a Hakuba Saguru Appreciation fic, first and foremost!

So, the romance itself is very slow burn. There is a lot of plot, because I have a lot of fun with ridiculous, contrived stories haha. It takes a while for the story to be fully set up, and Kaito doesn't make a proper, official appearance until the end of Chapter 2.

Chapter 1 is rather lengthy and sets the context and plot from Hakuba's POV, Chapter 2 focuses on establishing where his relationship with Kaito (as well as Aoko and Akako) stands at the moment, and Chapter 3 onward starts seeing the first proper developments in the relationship.

It's a bit rocky at first and they have a lot of ups and downs but I promise they work it out (I promise!!! I swear!!!) I tried my best to maintain a balance between the fluffy and angsty moments, but I have to admit it's quite dramatic at parts lol I enjoy stupid, trashy drama a lot sometimes— this is the reason I'm calling it a bad telenovela.

Despite the fact that this is very plotty, their feelings for each other are the guiding force behind the storyline, and their relationship does take center stage later on. The romance is in no way secondary, it just takes a long while to fully develop. They most definitely get a happy ending, but you can expect this to be 95% pining.

The story starts out some years after the current events in the MK manga. Pandora hasn't been found yet, and KID is still active. On the other hand, the DC canon is used very loosely; the conflict has long since been resolved. The BO was taken down years before the start of this story.

The two plots aren't too deeply intertwined here, they just intercept at parts. References to DC events appear here and there and some elements and character interactions overlap, but they tend to be minor for the most part. This is primarily a MK story and I wasn't too worried about completely integrating both plotlines (or staying 100% accurate to the DC plot, for that matter).

Of course, because this is MK-centric, Aoko and Akako are involved with the overarching story and have major roles to play.

In terms of DC characters, Masumi, Shiho, Heiji and Shinichi play semi-prominent roles in the story. I've tagged Masumi from the getgo because she appears in the first chapter, but I'll add the others when I get to the little arcs they show up in. Save for some specific contributions they have, they aren't too deeply involved with the overall plot progression, but the interactions Hakuba has with them are important for his character development and his better understanding of his relationship with Kaito. Basically each of these characters gets some sort of little story arc in which they interact with/help Hakuba in some way. I arbitrarily chose who I wanted him to interact with, lol.

Speaking of arbitrary decisions— Miss Masumi!!!! She's the first character that shows up in this and interacts with Hakuba. I understand this is probably a strange choice. Because I really wanted to flesh out Hakuba's detective methods and life in London a little more, I decided to use the very what if headcanon of Hakuba's maternal family and the Sera family being acquainted with each other. Like I said before, I didn't really want to connect DC and MK plots thoroughly, so the Akai family plotline isn't at all relevant here beyond a couple of passing mentions. I was mostly interested in Hakuba having an MI6 connection without the need of using another OC and I just wanted to imagine what a hypothetical dynamic between him and Masumi would be like.

And then, OCs. There's a couple of OCs with pretty major roles here as well. Really major— probably in equal measure to Aoko and Akako. I apologise in advance! I really needed them to properly build the detective/mystery aspect of the plot, and the more I wrote, the more they became involved with the story and relationship progression TT I really enjoyed writing them a lot, and I'm satisfied with how they turned out here. I understand OCs with prominent roles aren't everyone's cup of tea, though. Even though I enjoyed writing them, I'm a little self-conscious about how relevant they ended up being when they were originally just going to be there as a plot device to kickstart things ;;; Hopefully someone can find enjoyment in them nonetheless. They are most heavily involved with the story after the midpoint, but they appear all throughout.

I'm really nervous about the choices to have Masumi and major OCs in this story...I understand it is likely these things will make this story a little too niche. But!!!!!!!!! Again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having fun with it is what matters most Raffles!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get that through your thick skull!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, please expect the most convoluted explanation to Pandora. There is a lot of made up lore I had a blast writing but it's all probably needlessly complicated.

In summary, it's a detective story starring Hakuba that somehow ended up reading like a dramatic post-breakup/getting back together soap opera.

A significant portion of this has been prewritten, so my (ideal) plan is to have weekly or biweekly updates (but hmmmm let's see how long that lasts until I decide to scrap and rewrite everything out of embarrassment— this is very likely, I second-guess myself a lot)

I keep dragging it through the mud, but I've actually had a blast writing it, even though there's A Lot going on and I'm not very confident in it being decent enough to share.

With all that, I hope someone else can maybe find some enjoyment reading it.

This messes with his whole magic use because shapeshifter, shit overlaps? More or less?? Because this is literally all Anagan's fault, he's in charge of helping Duman figure out his new situation. Only he wants to go back to his pack for a while so Duman would have to join him. Did I mention he has a pack? Did I mention he's the leader of that pack? No?

Now here it comes, this is where the trouble begins.

You see, werewolves in this story take some funny little things from the good old omegaverse, in a way. There's alphas and omegas, for those who don't know; the omegas have the children. Duman ends up being an omega, he's offended at this. Mans takes one look at the other omegas and goes "I literally don't want to do any of the things they are doing bestie wtf" which, fair enough, right? It's a good thing he's still a powerful wizard that can easily stop any alpha advances towards him, right?? Anagan, in a werewolf frenzy, takes advantage of him.

This is actually where this story ends, it never got a chapter after that. I'm guessing it was supposed to though? My reasoning for that will come up in a bit. To be fair, this fic was very much tagged. Everything was marked properly, it was my own curiosity that screwed me over here, I'm willing to take the blame for that, but let me continue.

Due to the lack of proper ending, I was fully prepared to block it out of my mind and move on. Just an unfinished fic with a questionable plot, there's tones of those. Silly me looks for different fics to read! Only paying attention to the characters that are in it! Because why would I pay attention to the title and author, that would be crazy! How was I supposed to notice my next read was written by the same person? Was the similar title I didn't pay attention to supposed to be a hint?

My rat brain is very simple, I see Duman is involved in a fic, I click. I was committed, I wanted my promised Duman mention. OVER 10 CHAPTERS GO BY- and there it is!! Ogron and Gantlos are discussing getting Anagan and Duman back, from wherever they are. You'd think this might set of some memory alarms, but you would be very wrong! For after the journey I had gone through to get my Duman mention, I had completely forgotten the other fic.

Few chapters after that they finally arrive, the boys :))

They acted very suspicious.

I can say that now, but at the time I thought it was just a combination of me being illiterate and translation errors. I had no idea what some things meant, which in hindsight should've been obvious.

Anagan and Duman are arguing while they need be focused on the battle they're in, enter stage left: Roxy. She's like "Can you two stop fighting each other and maybe attack the enemy? Hello??" Which they don't, they ignore her. Anagan is angry and wants Duman to not be involved with this fight against demons, yeah, meanwhile Duman doesn't want to leave Anagan to do this on his own. It is then brought up that Duman died before so I'm like "Oh is he weaker because of that? Kinda harsh to send him away but ig I get it-" Letting the sentence right after that completely fly the fuck over my head.

It isn't until Anagan is referred to as "his alpha" that I pause violently.

I keep reading, they keep putting emphasis on just how weak Duman is right now, and how weird it is. What could the reason beeeEEe?? Roxy comments on how Duman's energy feels weirdly warm, how very strange.

Anyway turns out he's several months pregnant and has been hiding it with illusions. Mind you, this man did a full on roundhouse kick prior to this reveal, but okay. So now Roxy is stressed because she feels the need to not let anything happen to her former enemy, and Duman is annoyed because he has been this whole story actually nevermind- Then it is mentioned that his child will be very strong just like the prophesy said what do yOU MEAN PROPHESY?? WHO ARE THESE RANDOM PEOPLE HE'S SUDDENLY BRINGING UP? This is why I think the previous story was going to continue because huh.

So after that chapter it once again ends, unfinished. I go back to the conversation in the previous chapter to confront my own ignorance, not only did the hints slap me across the ass, also in the notes it mentioned its connection to the other story, which I now remembered. So that all clicked into place, the fact that it took this long is actually on me but shut up. The author also said they didn't tag the mpreg this time because it's not a big part of the story, which is true but at least I was right about it not being tagged.

I actually doubt I have ever talked about HideKane in a romantic sense in any of those posts. It’s hard to not talk about Hide when you talk about Kaneki and his relationships, but even then (and again, I’m talking about the serious discussion posts, because I firmly believe nobody is stupid enough to make a deal out of silly shipping posts) I don’t think I ever pushed HideKane in a romantic way (at least not too much). “Hide is Kaneki’s most important person,” how is that in any way bashing another ship or making the HideKane fandom look bad? It’s a fact from the manga.

Sorry (not really), I’m just not into the whole “political corectness” and “safe spaces” thing, I prefer freedom of speech and expression. If a person decides to move around public spaces (and that includes the internet), they might get confronted with things they don’t like. I don’t like seeing mutilated bodies, but because our media love to show explicit images and because some people don’t care, I sometimes stumble across such images even while searching for something completely unrelated. That’s life.
