some changes

Just a little heads up that Sif and Dug are both gonna be undergoing some slight character changes! Me and @shroudandsands talked extensively about their current dynamic and where we want these two to end up, and we both agreed that in their current form, Sif and Dug are a lot of fun, but it's not exactly good for them. We want to try and give them a more mutually fulfilling relationship by shifting their dynamic and creating stories that are not only fun to write but are also healthier for everyone involved, including our characters.

I’ll start with Dug. Instead of having two knives and a mysterious career, he’s now a free paladin and a sworn protector, especially of Sif. Instead of being the least willing participant in a battle, he’s now valiantly leading the van and fighting for all things good and right as the Warrior of Light. He’s not Mr. Perfect and he doesn’t do everything right, obviously. Cooking and cleaning are not his strong suits, but that’s why he has his lovely wife!! He loves her so much and he's so thankful he has her to take care of him after every battle, physical and emotional.

You can already see some of Sif’s more obvious changes too. Rather than a wandering alcoholic bard, she’s now an amnesiac practitioner of white magic and Dug’s most faithful supporter on and off the battlefield. She has taken a vow of pacifism and has sworn to never harm another in word or deed because she’s a healer (and that’s her husband’s job). Little does she know that she is also a Lightwarden who escaped Norvrandt through the rift, which is amplifying her healing abilities beyond what she would ever be capable of, but it's also slowly killing her each time she uses her magic.

Rather than constantly bickering, these two will now be actively supporting each other in a much more wholesome way. While Dug is making all the tactical decisions, Sif is making all of the more domestic ones, balancing their relationship evenly and playing into their natural strengths. They are loyal to their friends and especially to each other, dote each other before every dungeon boss, and if I write one more complete sentence of this, I will probably be found dead at my desk so this bit is over. I take no pleasure in knowing I wrote any part of this. Have a good one, y’all. 💕

If the Volturi truly wanted to hurt Carlisle, they would without a doubt, come after Esme and I think Carlisle and Esme know that too. Obviously they'd target the whole family, but it would be more effective to specifically focus in on Esme. Not necessarily hurting her, but being able to emotionally blackmail Carlisle with violence as a possibility.

ok so.

i'm very unsatisfied with how sidestory B: DOWN has been going. It feels like a drag to work on and I frankly just don't think it works well as a story. I'd be mortified to release it if I could ever bring myself to finish it.

I want to start work on Chapter 3 properly and- well, I have an idea I've been wanting to try... I want to make my BGs in Blender and then render with paintery settings. Not sureeee if this will work but gosh. it'd save a lot of time + i already use Clip studio's 3d assets as it is.

SO uhh. I think. I'm just not goign to do the sidestory at least for now. So, for today, I'm going to try my hand at the 3D rendering! Wish me luck!

A small rant but how Gale is talked about and treated like some running gag both in fandom and in game is borderline aggravating. He's talked about with an air of, dare I say it, 'you chose...that guy?' in a way you don't really see anyone else treated. In Moonrise Towers, Z'rell will comment by calling him something pathetic. If asked precisely who you're romancing, you can answer along the lines of 'mock me if you will, but I like Gale' (who says this about their partner, lmao.) I've seen people get huffy when Gale doesn't approve of a polyamorous relationship, calling him...boring? Hell, apparently in game, you can say if you wanted boring sex, you would've just gone to Gale — which, as a tangent, I don't know why or how the idea of vanilla intimacy got such a bad rap to begin with. As if we don't know Gale, so utterly devoted, wouldn't treat it wholly as a moment of such importance because he'd never be with someone he couldn't love with all his heart.

I ramble. Point is, there's already weird lines in game, not to mention comments in the community that take really..choice tones about Gale. People still think he's annoying for his magical artefact consumption as though THREE ITEMS total, three items which can be UTTERLY USELESS items, is too much to ask for. As if that MINOR mechanic doesn't literally disappear by Act 2. You can find him annoying, but this man and his flaunting is just a man trying to sell and find confidence in his good points because he believes he has SO FEW beyond magic. He GENUINELY thinks he's better off dead and thought so before you meet him. He's a man who came off his abuse, and he's the character you can try to convince has to make up with his abuser. Where his suicide ending was apparently regarded as the "true ending"? Basically, all I'm saying is the "Gale eats my boots" jokes are mild, but evidently, some people truly think that's all his character is at best if not someone who really should die for his abuser's forgiveness and the sake of the world at worst. A character who I've seen receive so many comments going "he did fuck up, and Mystra gave him everything, but he remained ungrateful" as if a mortal with a GOD is any fair relationship. As if she didn't leave him to DIE and never freed him of his curse when it's proven by the end that she could've saved him with a simple wave of her hand. That guy. And this is all just. Blegh.
