#tb 17/12/2017. Bate e volta em Chiang Rai. Saindo de Chiang Mai são 199km, então contratamos o passeio com uma empresa quando chegamos em Chiang Mai. . Esses foram os 3 templos principais que passamos. O templo branco se chama WAT RONG KHUN , mas ficou conhecido como WHITE TEMPLE. Nesse templo, elementos das tradições budistas e hindus se misturam com inúmeras referências à cultura pop ocidental. Ele começou a ser construído em 1998 e só vai ser terminado em 2070. O templo é magnífico, indescritível. Tem um lago cercando com criaturas mitológicas. Mas também revela monstros, aliens e demônios por todos os lados. O templo encoraja os visitantes a refletir sobre os ensinamentos budistas. As representações do bem e do mal se alternam a todo momento, como no mundo em que a gente vive. A tensão vai aumentando à medida que a gente se aproxima da da ponte para o templo central. Protegida por dois grandes guardiões, a ponte fica sobre uma espécie de abismo do inferno, com esculturas de mãos que representam o desejo e o sofrimento humano. . TEMPLO AZUL (WAT RONG SEUR TEN) O portal, o interior e as paredes externas do templo são todas pintadas de azul, assim como algumas esculturas que o rodeiam. Apesar da grande quantidade de turistas, a visita vale a pena, pois o lugar é muito bonito. A entrada é gratuita. . MUSEU BAAN DAM Casa Negra em Chiang Mai foi construída pelo famoso arquiteto tailandês Thawan Duchanee, onde reflete sua visão artística peculiar do mundo. Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. Degas Baan Dam / Black House (baan = house / dam = black) Baan Dam, a short drive out of Chiang Rai; part museum, part art studio, part home. The artist, Thawan Duchanee, created this collection of 40 buildings. Some are traditional Thai houses. Others were odd shapes. All different sizes. All (except for one, I think) painted black. Inside the buildings was a collection of animal skulls, furniture made with buffalo horns, phallic statues and animal skins. Some buildings allowed you to roam throughout. Others provided glass covered doors which allowed you to admire the odd interiors from a far. When first opened, Baan Dam was quite controversial. While there are many interpretations some feel the buildings represent the sickness, old age and death Buddha witnessed on his travels. Others think it reflects human desire and cravings. Still others feel it depicts evil and the depths of hell. I was grateful that I hadn't read what others thought until after I visited.
