The Sion Road Over Bridge, a 110-year-old flyover located in Sion, Mumbai, will be closed to the public starting from January 21 for a period of two years to facilitate reconstruction work. The bridge has been operational until January 20, but the Mumbai Traffic Police have announced the closure to commence immediately after. Initially, the closure was scheduled to begin on January 17, but it was postponed to allow traffic until January 20. Preparatory measures such as barricading and the installation of 'No Entry' and 'No Parking' signs are underway to manage traffic flow and prevent congestion in the vicinity of the bridge. Dr. Raju Bhujbal, Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Mumbai Traffic Headquarters, has issued a formal notification regarding the closure, and citizens are being informed in advance. Senior Police Inspector Ananda Rao Hake of the Matunga Division confirmed that the bridge will be accessible on January 17, but will be closed thereafter due to demolition activities. Additional police officers are involved in efforts to redirect vehicles, with signage placed near the bridge to guide drivers on the detour. To manage the expected increase in traffic due to the closure, approximately 50-60 wardens will be deployed across various jurisdictions, including Mahim, Chunabhatti, Bekesi, Chembur, and Dharavi. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes such as the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, Sion Hospital Road via Sulochana Shetty Marg, and the Chunabhatti-Bandra Kurla Complex connector. These alternatives provide access to the Eastern Express Highway, Dr. BA Road, and other key areas. It is important to note that two-wheelers and three-wheelers are prohibited from using these alternative routes during the reconstruction of the Sion flyover.

★ Salman Khan visits Mumbai Police HQ for weapons license; actor wants to protect his family from Bishnoi and gang!
July 22, 2022
After the Sidhu Moosewala assassination earlier this year, Salman Khan was dragged into the controversy with the superstar reportedly receiving death threats. Accused was a certain gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who has earlier threatened the actor and his security, post the blackbuck case. Now, yet again, his name has resurfaced with the actor and his father Salim Khan once again receiving threats from the gangster and his men. In order to protect himself, latest reports claim that the superstar visited the Mumbai Police headquarters for a weapons license.
As per recent reports, Salman Khan has applied for a gun license after his father Salim Khan received a threatening letter when the latter was jogging near their residence in Bandra, Mumbai. If these reports are to be believed, Salman Khan met the top cop Vivek Phansalkar as a part of the process for applying license.
Sources were quoted confirming in these reports adding that the visit was a mandatory one where physical verification before the authority is a required part of the license application procedure. These reports also suggest that Khan has reasoned in his statement that he requires the license for a gun as a means of protecting his family from Bishnoi and his threats.

How safe is Mumbai really for ladies at night?
In general, Mumbai is considered quite safe for women compared to other similar big cities. Violent crimes against women travelers are rare. During the day, you can freely roam around the main tourist areas like Colaba, Bandra, and Juhu without much trouble.
But it's recommended to avoid deserted alleys, poorly lit areas, and traveling alone late at night. Like other metros, incidents of eve-teasing and groping in crowded public transport have occurred. It's best to take prepaid taxis from authorized operators at night. Also, beware of ‘‘fake’’ police asking for bribes.
So what’s the solution for girls who want to stay out late and have a blast in this amazing city?
Get a bike on rent in Mumbai
Bike rental in Mumbai gives women freedom of movement and control over their travel. Instead of relying on public transport or taxis, you can zip around the city at night in your own vehicle. It's also cheaper than cabs, especially for short distances.
Some key advantages of Mumbai bike rental:
Avoid harassment/groping on public transport
No need to rely on potentially unsafe taxis
Flexibility to go wherever, whenever you want
Saves money compared to cabs
Feel empowered cruising through the nightscape solo or with friends
Easy parking around most hotspots
Where to get a bike on rent in Mumbai
A company like Rentnhop offers bike rental in Mumbai. You can book them online or by visiting their outlets across the city.
Rates are affordable, starting around ₹500-800 per day for gearless scooters and ranging up to ₹1200-1500 for powerful bikes. You'll likely need to submit a copy of your driver's license and identity card. Make sure you carry all the important documents before you get a bike rental in Mumbai.
Once you've got your stylish ride, you're all set for a fun-filled nocturnal adventure across Mumbai.
Safety Tips for Girls on Bike Rental in Mumbai:
Stick to well-lit main roads as much as possible
Wear closed shoes and tied-up hair to avoid accidents
Carry a helmet & wear it at all times
Keep your phone charged in case of emergency
Avoid drinking & driving
Ride defensively by watching speed, spacing from vehicles
Park only in safe areas like malls, petrol pumps
Maintain a moderate speed and avoid stunts
Know basic bike repairs in case of flat tire, overheating engine, etc
So, ladies, bike rental in Mumbai is a smart way to enjoy Mumbai's fiery nightlife while staying safe. Follow basic precautions and get ready for an epic girl's night out in this sizzling seaside city.

‘Biggest scam of India’ email demands resignation of RBI Governor and FM Sitharaman
On Tuesday, The Reserve Bank of India, headquartered in Mumbai, and two other city-based banks (HDFC and ICICI) received threatening emails accusing them of carrying out the ‘biggest scam in the history of India.” The email also had the sender claiming to have planted bombs at 11 locations across the financial capital.
The sender further demanded the resignation of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. This was because of his 'involvement' in the so-called ‘scam.’
“We demand that both RBI Governor and Finance Minister to immediately resign from their posts and release a press statement with a full disclosure of the scam. We also demand the government to give them both and all those who are involved the punishment they deserve,” the emails said, as per a leading media house. The mail further read – “We have sufficient solid proofs for the same.” The mail was sent by ‘[email protected]’.
However, after the email, the Mumbai police sent the personnel to each 11 locations but found nothing. A few locations where the sender claimed to have planted bombs were: RBI-New Central Building, Fort; HDFC House-Churchgate; and ICICI Bank Towers, BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex). The mail said that the explosives would detonate at around 1:30 pm.
A police official later said, “A case has been registered and the probe is underway.”
