Mr Pradip Burman Shares His View On Overpopulation
The birth rate is at an all-time higher in India as compared to the death rate. India is in the second position globally for the highest population and is said to step up to the first position by 2025. Also, its landmass is much smaller to accommodate a higher population. Such issues have been noticed by social leaders like Mr Pradip Burman and are making valuable efforts to eradicate overpopulation.
Tumblr media
Mr Pradip Burman, chairman of Dabur, Nepal and a board member of Aviva Life Insurance, is a philanthropist, sworn environmentalist and a crusader of sustainability. He has been the director of his ancestral FMCG company Dabur India. He has also founded Ayurvet, a company manufacturing herbal products for animals.
According to Mr Pradip Burman, overpopulation has led to the two biggest sustainability challenges, i.e. climate change and air pollution. Due to air pollution, our children are suffering. They have asthma, lung ailments and other respiratory problems from a young age. Pollution is also the leading cause of climate change. It is happening through overpopulation because the greater the population, the higher the emission of gases.
Mr Pradip Burman further says,” Overpopulation is the most significant challenge faced by many countries today. As the global population grows towards 10 billion, consumption of water, food and energy is increasing, which results in the depletion of non-renewable resources. But these challenges can be overcome through solutions like recycling and 100% consumption of renewable energy. We have to recycle everything and consume resources that will come from renewable energy. If we can execute these two things, I think the problem will be solved”.
Being around philanthropists and environmentalists all his life, Mr Pradip Burman is determined towards protecting the environment and is currently working for various social causes. One of them is population stabilization through Project Aakar.

REPORT THIS AD
Project Aakar is an initiative that focuses on curbing overpopulation in India. Setting up the project in 2 districts in Uttar Pradesh, namely Barabanki and Bahraich, they educate the people in rural areas on the importance of family planning, reproduction, and the usage of contraceptives. The reason behind starting this initiative in these regions is due to its high fertility rate. They are also creating awareness among newly married and young unmarried people. There are primary health centres where they make contraceptives and distribute them to young couples. Their short film, namely ‘Dampatti No 1’, depicts the importance of family planning and has won an award for the best film towards family planning.
Tumblr media
Project Akar is an initiative through the Mobius Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Mr Pradip Burman that works towards environmental protection. The organization aims to protect the ecosystem by educating people about the importance of sustainable development that can also help eradicate overpopulation. They organize awareness programs that help to curb overpopulation, pollution and traditional practices that harm the environment.
Besides Project Aakar, they have also initiated two more projects, i.e. World Environmental School (WESc) and Gyan Anant Vidyalaya (GAV). These are educational institutes that help people educate about the importance of a sustainable environment and the harmful consequences of resource extinction in the future.
In today’s world, we can’t deny the significance of sustainable development. Adhering to the goals of stabilizing overpopulation is the need of the hour, and we as a country should come forward together to accomplish this mission.

Best Health Insurance Policy in Delhi
Tumblr media
Delhi, which is regarded as the heart of the nation, is well known for its rich history and culture. Delhi, a city with a long history, is host to many of India’s most well-known historical sites. Everyone in the city, young and old, enjoys it since it offers something to suit everyone’s interests. People from all across the nation have been able to move to the city because of this feature.
With Delhi’s growing population, it has also developed into a centre for cutting-edge medical services. In this city, there are some of the best medical facilities.
After the Coronavirus outbreak struck India at the end of 2019, health insurance became the most popular keyword on search engines. Since the introduction of the coronavirus, many Indians have given health insurance some serious thought.
Many consumers are being forced by rising healthcare prices to choose good health insurance options that are affordable. People who previously considered going to public hospitals have begun to consider going to private hospitals in the event of a medical emergency. Online comparison of the various health insurance plans provided by various insurance providers will help you find the best health insurance policy in Delhi.
Importance Of Health Insurance Plans In Delhi
Stress, pollution, dietary influences, and daily routines all contribute to health issues among Delhi residents. Delhi, the second-most polluted city in the world, has air that can have a major role in the development of respiratory conditions like asthma, allergies, and other infections.
Your medical crises are covered by Nivesh Online health insurance plans in Delhi, which also assist you in receiving the proper care when you need it without breaking the bank.
These advantages make having health insurance essential since they allow you to concentrate on your treatment rather than worrying about the cost of the medical care. Even in the depths of your medical issues, you are safeguarded.
What Are Health Insurance Plans?
Health insurance policies in Delhi, often known as medical insurance or medical plans, reimburse the policyholder for medical costs such as those associated with hospitalisation, surgeries, treatments, illnesses, injuries, or even accidents. The insurance company, which is the insurer in line with the terms and conditions of the contract, pays the benefits to the insured when resolving claims for health insurance.
A Medical Insurance Policy in Delhi is, to put it simply, a contract wherein the insurance provider commits to cover the insured’s medical costs should they become ill or injured and need emergency care. Health insurance firms partner with networks or chains of hospitals practically everywhere so that covered patients can receive care without having to pay cash.
Family Health Plan
Family health insurance plans in Delhi cover every member of the family under a single health plan. Some insurance companies now offer policies that cover extended family members as well.
One of the main benefits of purchasing family health insurance plans in Delhi is that it offers a single defence against financial difficulties if one member of the family experiences a health problem. Additionally, they offer free or reimbursement-based access to high-quality medical treatment for the entire family in the hospitals in its network.
Who should invest in family health insurance plans?
In family health insurance policies, there is a proposer or primary policyholder. In addition, you can modify the policy to include more than one person. A family floater plan can help you save a significant amount on insurance rates if you have a sizable household. If necessary, you can also split the cost of the premiums with other participants, such as your spouse or parents if they are still working. This will lessen your financial load.
The best time to get a family floater plan is as early as possible, ideally in your thirties. This is another important consideration.
Similarly, you can purchase a family floater plan if you recently got married or want to have a family. You can add your spouse to an existing plan, and even cover your new born under your plan with a maternity plan.

COPD  and Asthma- An Ayurvedic Perspective By Dr. Sreeja Mohandas
Tobacco smoking and excessive smoke and dust pollution is causing humanity many chronic lung diseases. Lungs are the organ in our body which takes in atmospheric oxygen and delivers it to the blood stream so that it can reach each and every cell in the body. The air we breathe in enters a large pipe called trachea. From there it reaches two tubes called bronchi each one going into lungs on either side. These bronchi divide into smaller tubes called bronchioles which end in a small sac like structures called Alveoli. Alveoli is covered by blood vessels and here oxygen from inhaled air passes into the blood in blood vessels and carbon dioxide in blood passes into the alveoli. The Alveoli and bronchioles have elastic walls which force out the carbon dioxide filled air out of the body. But in some persons this elasticity is lost or the tubes which carry the air are constricted leading to breathlessness. As this condition develops gradually it is called Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is defined as a disease state characterized by airflow limitation that is not fully reversible (cannot be brought back to normalcy). Major cause of COPD is smoking. Prolonged inhalation of smoke, dust, toxic chemicals as a part of occupation or from burning fuel, asthmatics and familial predisposition are the major risk factors to develop the disease. The common symptoms are shortness of breath, physical activities, wheezing, chest tightness, chronic cough, frequent respiratory infections, lack of energy, unintended weight loss (in later stages), changes in nails etc. People with COPD are also likely to experience episodes called exacerbations, during which their symptoms become worse than usual day-to-day variation and persist for  several days. It can lead to heart problems, Pulmonary hypertension, Lung cancer etc. It is diagnosed by Lung Function Test (usually Spirometry), Chest X-ray, CT Scan and Arterial blood gas analysis.
Asthma is yet another disease of lungs caused by the narrowing of airways. Asthmatics on a long run have more probabilities of developing COPD than non- asthmatics. The exact cause of the disease is not known.  Some people are more sensitive or allergic to some common environmental factors or triggers which produce no response in normal individuals. The triggers include Airborne substances, such as pollen, dust mites, spores, pet hair, physical activity (exercise-induced asthma), cold air, air pollutants and irritants, such as smoke, certain medications, strong emotions and stress, preservatives added to some types of foods and beverages and acid regurgitation. Symptoms vary from person to person. The intensity, frequency, time of occurrence and period between two attacks vary greatly among individuals. Symptoms include Shortness of breath, Chest tightness or pain, Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing. Diagnostic tests recommended for COPD can be done. Allergy test, eosinophil count can also be done.
All conditions involving dyspnoea or breathlessness are categorized under the heading of Swasa in Ayurveda. Causes of Swasa roga include dry, heavy diet, excessive intake of cold drinks, excessive intake of food, exposure to dust, smoke and cold air, living in cold areas, overindulgence in sex, bathing in cold water, diet including black gram, sesame and kapha producing food and Vata kapha vitiating diet and activities; suppression of urges, injury to chest region, excess of  journey etc. According to Ayurveda all these result in vata kapha vitiation leading to the obstruction of Pranavaha srotas (channels carrying Prana vayu- Respiratory tract). Due to this there is difficulty in breathing and respiratory distress.
The treatment of Swasa mainly depends on the strength of the patient and according to the increased dosha. Though there is predominance of vata kapha in all Shwasas, the condition having increased Kapha and strength of patient is treated with purificatory procedures like Vamana and Virechana. If the patient is having more Vata vitiation and decreased strength then he should be given medicated ghees, gruels, soups and a nourishing diet. Oleation and sudation are specially indicated in Swasa rogi. Medicated smoking or Dhumapana is also specially indicated in this disease.
A diet consisting of aged rice, brown rice, horse gram, wheat, barley, aged ghee, goats milk and ghee made of it, honey, snake gourd, garlic, ivy gourd, amaranth, raisin and cardamom are considered beneficial in the disease. Wind, sheep milk and ghee made of it, contaminated water, tubers, fish, dry, cold , heavy food are considered to worsen the disease.
But the first line of management is always to find reasons and eliminate them.  It is more or less described as a manageable disease in Ayurveda rather than a curable disease. Yoga and Pranayama is highly beneficial in keeping the disease under control. Proper diagnosis and management of lung diseases and maintenance of lung health is highly relevant in current times due to the pandemic. Ayurveda helps in a holistic management of COPD, Asthma and other lung disorders.

TURMERIC OR THE SAFFRON OF INDIAHISTORIC BACKGROUND
While the use of this spice dates back 4000 years to the Vedic culture in India, we do know that the Vedic people used Turmeric and products derived from it as far as 4000 years back and slowly spread through other regions with Marco Polo describing Turmeric’s properties as very similar to those of Saffron.
ETYMOLOGY
Today, turmeric is widely cultivated in the tropics and goes by different names in different cultures and countries. In North India, turmeric is commonly called “haldi,” a word derived from the Sanskrit word haridra, and in the south it is called “manjal,” a word that is frequently used in ancient Tamil literature. It is known as terre merite in French and simply as “yellow root” in many languages. In many cultures, its name is based on the Latin word curcuma. In Sanskrit, turmeric has at least 53 different names.
CULTIVATION
Turmeric itself is a plant belonging to the ginger family, which is native to tropical South Asia. As many as 133 species of Curcuma have been identified worldwide.  The turmeric plant needs temperatures between 20°C and 30°C and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive.
India produces nearly all of the world’s turmeric crop and consumes 80% of it. With its inherent qualities and high content of the important bioactive compound curcumin, Indian turmeric is considered to be the best in the world.
COMMON USES
Turmeric has been put to use as a foodstuff, cosmetic, and medicine. It is widely used as a spice in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking. The spice lends curry its distinctive yellow colour and flavour. It is used as a colouring agent in cheese, butter, and other foods.
HEALTH PROPERTIES
Some cultures give herbs and spices almost magical powers and turmeric is no exception. This cure-all spice, is well known for various health benefits from reducing inflammation, helping alleviate and cure asthma, bronchial hyperactivity to different respiratory allergies, indigestion, bloating, stomach aches and various eating disorders.
Consuming turmeric on a regular basis can help purify the blood, dissolve clots and thin the blood, which promotes better blood flow and increased absorption of oxygen. This helps raise your energy levels, increase sleep quality and lowers heart disease risk.
On top of this, the antioxidants found in turmeric, not only help slow the aging process, but have been proven to help people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
INTERESTING FACTS:
While turmeric can help with many different ailments, it is not magic but consistency is key for the effects to take place!
Turmeric paste is applied to the skin of the bride and groom before marriage in India where it is believed to make the skin glow and keep harmful bacteria away from the body. No wonder several multinational companies are involved in making face creams based on turmeric!
Erode, a city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the world’s largest producer and the most important trading centre for turmeric. It is also known as “Yellow City,” “Turmeric City,” or “Textile City.”
Recently the plant has been praised for its ability to prevent multiple types of cancer (skin cancer, breast cancer, oral cancer, and stomach cancer), as well as slowing the aging process. If used in combination with other herbal remedies, it can be as effective and often times more so then high-end medication and all at a fraction of the cost!
Conclusion: Turmeric has a lot of underlying potential and should be looked at by anyone trying to improve their health and make any dish tastier!

Importance Of Indoor Air Quality For Employees
There is no doubt that our built environment has a profound impact on our health, well-being, happiness and productivity. It can shape our habits and choices, regulate our sleep-wake cycle, drive us toward healthy and unhealthy choices, and passively influence our health through the quality of our surroundings.
According to a study by WELL, we spend 90% of our time indoors, hence it is imperative for us to understand the impact of indoor air on our health and wellness as occupants. While companies focus on various diet and wellness programs, they need to start talking about the environment of the building itself. Developments that look at features related to wellness can help create a built environment that improves the nutrition, fitness, mood, sleep patterns and performance of its residents. USGBC and IGBC have their own wellness-related standards. The “WELL” Standard for USGBC and the “Health and Well Being Standard” of IGBC.
Our built environment shapes our personality, the choices we make, the habits we have, our sleep cycle, thus, driving us passively towards a healthier life. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a large part of the overall indoor environment that has a direct impact on occupants. Better air quality means fewer pollutants in the air and more oxygen to breathe. And with the improved flow of oxygen to the brain, our cognitive performance gets better, hence resulting in an increase in productivity at work.
Health and Wellness is one of the largest growing markets, directly impacted by the rising demand of consumers. In the next two years, the owners, designers and builders are expecting health to have a higher influence on the design and construction decisions of owners. Wellness Standards provide the opportunity to design and build with a human-centered approach, ultimately supporting the industry in addressing human health.
We can achieve the highest level of indoor air quality by taking care of the most common and deadliest pollutants.
PM2.5: They are these tiny and fine particles that tend to stay longer in the air than heavy particles. This, therefore, increases the chances of humans or animals inhaling them into their bodies. They can penetrate deep into our lungs after bypassing the throat and nose, which may eventually result in them entering our circulatory system. They are known to worsen chronic diseases such as asthma, heart attack, bronchitis, etc, in fact, exposure to these fine particles could result in premature deaths from heart and lung diseases.
CO2: At room temperature, carbon dioxide is an odorless, colorless, non-flammable gas. When CO2 hits 1000ppm in a room, workers feel slightly fatigued with common complaints of headaches and that results in low productivity. CO2 in the range of 2,000-5,000 ppm can result in poor concentration, loss of attention, increased heart rate and slight nausea.
TVOCs: They include a variety of chemical substances, which can lead to fatal health illnesses. Typically, VOC concentrations are up to 10 times higher inside as compared to the outdoors. These are typically even higher after new constructions and a “flush out” phase is required before the occupants can move in. With long-term monitoring, RESET Air (Standard for Air Quality for Indoor spaces) provides an alternative to standard industry practice in which spaces are flushed out, tested, certified, and unknowingly left to climb back up to hazardous levels.
To lead by example, our building Paharpur Business Centre has been rated as one of the healthiest buildings of Delhi by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Govt of India and also been tested to have very high air quality by Lawrence Berkeley National Labs (LBNL), California. We grow our fresh air in the 50,000 square feet space. We are able to curate the best quality of air possible using a combination of sophisticated mechanical filtration as well as indoor plants. The result is air so fresh - it feels like mountain air.
