just read that briarlight from your rewrite doesn't only have her thing with Millie and her inappropriate behaviour (at least from what I got) BUT also has strained relationship with graystripe, which I think is interesting concept 👀 could we get more detail on that ?
Sure thing! I don't plan to completely eliminate Millie's inappropriate behavior, but her abelism is treated as abelism by the narrative.
Graystripe is not allowed to get off blameless here; he should have protected his daughter. But he didn't. Briarlight has complicated feelings towards the fact that her dad didn't help her when she really needed him.
I actually really like Graystripe as a character so this matters a lot to me; the narrative treats him like he's a perfect being when he's an extremely complex guy. Graystripe does what he wants to do, and is a passionate and loyal person, but how would he decide between telling his mate to back off, and protecting his daughter?
I don't think he can decide. Siding with one could mean losing the other, and after what he's lost, he can't do that. So instead he does nothing, trying to play 'Both Sides', and just ends up alienating both.
Briarlight
Around the time of Bramblestar's Storm, ThunderClan is working on a better mobility device for her that will allow her to get out of camp, on more types of uneven terrain. I plan for Jessie to actually be the one who finally figures this out, a proper kitty cat genius of engineering, using that blanket they salvaged to help prevent chafing.
Here is a mouse drawing in paint lmao, it is a modified version of @cryptidclaw's Briarlight design, which I asked for their permission to use!
Tumblr media
[ID: A drawing of a paraplegic cat, Briarlight, from Warrior Cats. She has a furry 'mullet' mane and a mobility device in three colors. There are green rings around the neck, hips, tail and back legs labelled 1, a blue blanket stretched over the belly labelled 2, and a red bark sled under the immobile legs marked 3]
The rings are made of twine of some sort, with the blanket sewn into the ones on the neck and legs, with the ones on the hips looping around the sides of the bark sled
The blanket prevents thorns and rocks from scratching her body; very important because if they were caught under her legs, she would not feel the pain to know it needs to be removed else cause infection
The bark sled is the only part that touches the ground, to prevent wear to the blanket and prevent it from getting ripped up too quickly. (oops I drew it too short lmao it should reach as far back as the paw)
This version is an improved model of the one that Wildfur used and made the entire TNP journey with; his would look very similar to Cryptidclaw's initial design (For the record it is the best mobility device for a paraplegic warrior I'd ever seen and they deserve a ton of credit here, I just improved some technical aspects of their design!)
ANYWAY back to discussion of abelism
So around this time, Briarlight finally sets a hard boundary with Millie. Her mom can't respect her, makes her feel horrible about herself, can't appreciate this incredible new mobility device, so finally Briar says, "Do not talk to me until you understand that my life isn't a tragedy!"
I think this actually does make Millie reconsider what she's been saying and doing to her kids, but fixing the relationship from this point is slow and gradual. Graystripe also gets caught in this; I'm thinking it was a sort of, "honey please speak to your mother," "Dad if you keep that up you're getting cut off too" situation.
Thankfully there's going to be plenty of time to do it since I'm not letting Briarlight die in AVoS. She survives AT LEAST until TBC, where her outspokenness against Bramblefake is going to put her in danger.

The Medics of the Clans
I’m planning a rewrite of warrior cats so I’m messing around with how they work, nothing too out there but I like what I got going on.
Ok so somethings I’ve changed is the hole thing of you are an apprentice until your mentor dies, that’s silly and I’ll get to that in a minute.
The second thing I changed is the name, medicine cat as it’s an appropriation of North American indigenous cultures.
A lot of people have changed the name to Healer but personally I don’t like it, nothing against I just don’t care for it. So I’ve changed it to Medic because so much of warrior cats is fighting and battles, it makes sense to me it wound keep with that theme.
Different titles
I’ve gone and made little “titles” for different types of medics. These are the most common titles.
First is Medic Apprentice could also be known as the Medic’s apprentice or Medic in training, it’s exactly what it sounds like, a cat that is learning how to be a Medic.
The Second Medic is a fully trained medic who, most of the time is the youngest fully trained medic, it’s custom for there to be at least two Medics in the clan, the second is to listen and help the head medic
The Head Medic is the one who is in charge of the medicine den and everything that is going on, in and around it. The Head Medic takes on the role when the previous Head Medic retires or dies.
Senior Medic the oldest, most senior medic in the clan. Is normally retired but not always.
Tumblr media
A chart of Leafpool’s history as a Medic, going from bottom to top, just to give you an idea of how this kinda works.
A Disgraced medic is a cat that broken the code severely and has been stripped of the medic title (even when that code is severely unfair).
Field Medic are warriors that have basic training in medicine and healing, they are normally sent on battle patrols or patrols that have the possibility to turn violent.
Tumblr media
Hollyleaf and Brightheart are examples of Field Medics!
Tumblr media
Also important to remember that Senior medic does not always mean their the head medic!
Example of this is while Goosefeather was the senior medic of Thunderclan, he was retired and Featherwhisker was the Head Medic who was in full control of the Thunderclan medic den.
History of Medics
Ok this is very much a work in progress/ has ver little done and I’ll definitely be revisiting this later with a more in detail post, BUT, until then this is what I got so far-
I dont like a lot of stuff in moth flight’s vision, so much of it dose not make sense like, why would you split up your young kids when you didn’t have to? Why did any of the other medicine cats agree to such a dumb rule proposed by a very young, new to this job cat?? Wtf is going on here??
I really like the direction bonefall’s going with their rewrite of moth flight, it makes sooo much more sense to have the kits be older and have training in medicine and that’s why they were split up. I still don’t know how I’m going to tackle moth flight’s vision tho, but moth flight will definitely have a lot of Importance in the clan’s history.
Such as below! After a cat finishes their Medic training they receive a Luna moth wing.
Tumblr media
I will be doing a post on Starclan so hopefully she’ll show up there.
The Medic role will be invented in dotc.
The no mate no children role may not be invented until later in the timeline?? Maybe??
At the end of oots/avos the clans are going to get a bit of a soft reboot and the no mate no children rule is going to fuck off, much to the dismay of a handful cats who think the code is a vital part of clan life
Which brings us to the broken code where shit is hitting the fan but that’s for another post
Like I said it’s really a work in progress but I’ll put a link down here when I post more stuff about it!

Do you have any favorite Warriors fanworks or rewrites? :O I know there’s a lot more cropping up recently, so I’m curious!
My good friend @bonefall does easily the best rewrite content I've ever seen. His command of the sprawling source material, his eye for weaving interesting conflicts, his meticulous worldbuilding, his admirable levels of research, all of it comes together to make him top the gold standard of the fandom.
It's a testament to his skill how much he's pulled me in considering his work leans really heavily on elements that I usually do not like very much in WC content and in storytelling generally. The way in which he anthropomorphises the cats is waaaaaaay past the point I myself usually like. And his work is extremely theme-driven and centered in arguing a specific thesis which usually makes me want to scream at the author "GO WRITE AN ESSAY!!!!!"
Other than that, let me drop some recs of stuff
saccharine tithes of love and glory by mallowstep was a very formative influence when I was first getting into the fandom and I think you can very clearly see its influence in many of my AU concepts dealing with the rules surrounding meddies. I really like the ways in which is explores the solitude of the position and the ways in which the different characters nagivate it. I know it's a bit of an unpopular opinion in my circles these days, and it may just be the growing up Catholic religious trauma speaking, but I do really love the idea of the meddie position as a curse and I wish it was explored with the full gravity of what it entails.
you wear your heart on a ripped unraveled sleeve by space_pilot3000 is one of the most delicious pieces of character-centric writing this whole fandom has to offer. You really get to understand very deeply the bundle of issues that the whole of the Po3 apprentice generation of WindClan is. This series is what got me really turned me from being moslty apathetic towards Breezepelt into really cementing his place as one of my absolute favorite secondary characters.
(I would die for you in secret) by KatieK101 is a newer one that I only came to after having spent a good bit of time in fandom and also one that doesn't originate within my circle of friends and acquaintances. All fics in the series just exude character and really embody the characteristics I value most in my favorite fics, namely the snappiness and conciseness that still manage to say so much about the characters portrayed.
And finally Uncle Jayfeather Chronicles by Dragon_Writes is just the cutest goddamn fic series out there and it has forever made me mentally unwell about Hollytuft, Sorrelstripe, and Fernsong. I have barely made it past the half-way point of AVoS but I'm attached to them a lot. My emotional support nothing characters. I should write about them some day.

If I had the strength, I would reread dotc and make a video about that arc because I don't think enough people talk about BAD it gets. Even as a teen, I knew it was worlds worse than anything that came before because it turned me off of the series for years. Still haven't finished the arc, I think I stopped when Starflower and clear sky were getting together because it grossed me out! It made me angry to read
I would love a video on dotc like that but of course that would take a lot of time and energy and. Driving yourself insane probably (I'm having a crappy time with AVoS overall despite liking Shattered Sky and Tigerheart's Shadow I can't imagine the slogfest it'd be like revisiting DotC. Especially since I did read it when it came out)
It does help to make posts pointing out it's many flaws. Like @/bonefall's posts on Bumble was the first time I actually saw someone point out and dissect all the nasty shit involved with her storyline

Ancient Roots: The Dark Forest
Credit where credit is due: This is heavily inspired/built based on what the lovely @bonefall has created! This is just my twist and continued brain rambling!
How do cats get sent to the Dark Forest in the first place???
Die
A StarClan representative is sent to retrieve the soul, just like they would for a StarClan-bound cat
Judgement is held by the cats who have been in StarClan the longest. In this house StarClan is far removed from Clan life, more like TPB than ASC. In theory, the longest existing StarClan members are the ones who founded the clans and, hopefully, should be impartial to history and chaos of living clans
Things that will get a cat sent to the Dark Forest:
Disloyalty
attempted coups EXCEPT if a leader is being challenged for their position (which can only happen if they are harming kits and/or their clan members or are otherwise deemed a poor fit for the role. This is very rare). This also includes cats who turned away from their own clan to join a rogue or outside group (for example: Antpelt allying with the Dark Forest during the Great Battle or Darkstripe joining Tigerstar I)
Harm (abuse, poisoning, murder, etc.,) of cats, especially kits. Killing in battle does not usually result in a cat being sent to the Dark Forest unless the death was unnecessary or uncalled for, not an accident
"Splintering" (pulling an AVoS ShadowClan) of a clan to join a rogue group
Taking over another clan and/or their territory (cough cough Tigerstar I and II cough cough)
With this in mind, the following cats are going to be in the Dark Forest
Tom (abuse)
Bramblestar (abuse)
Frecklewish (harm to kits- indirect)
Hawkheart (murder)
One Eye (attempting to kill a kit)
Ashfur (Tyranny as the Imposter; abuse; attempted harm of cats)
Hollyleaf (Murder)
Darkstripe (Murder)
Mapleshade (Murder)
Thistleclaw (Abuse)
Snowtuft (Attempted coup)
Brokenstar (Murder; harm of kits)
Tigerstar I (Murder; attempted coup)
Redwillow (Disloyalty to one's clan)
Maggottail (unknown)
Stumpytail (Disloyalty to one's clan)
Rainflower (Abuse)
Clawface (Murder)
Juniperclaw (Disloyalty to one's clan; poisoning)
Houndleap (Unknown)
Antpelt (Disloyalty to one's clan)
Rushtooth (Unknown)
Hawkfrost (Murder; abuse)
Darktail (Murder; abuse)
Silverhawk (Coup; murder)
Shredtail (Unknown)
Sparrowfeather (Unknown)
Mudclaw (Attempted Coup)
Clear Sky/Skystar (Murder)
Raggedstar (Murder)
Nettle (Attempted harm of kits- indirect)
Sleekwhisker (Attempted/Threatened Harm of kits; Murder)
Tigerstar II (Takeover of another clan)
Bone (Murder)
Scourge (Murder)
Boulder (Disloyalty to one's clan)
Hoot/Snake (Attempted Murder; abuse; Murder)
Snag/Jaggedtooth (Disloyalty to one's clan)
Jumper/Ice (Abuse; Murder)
Lizardstripe (Abuse; Harm of a kit)
Quick Water (Attempted murder; murder- caused)
Nettle (Abuse)
Slash (Harm of a kit- threatened; Harm of a kit- attempted)
Raggedstar (Abuse)
Leopardstar (Abuse; Harm to kits; Disloyalty to one's own clan)
There will probably be more added to this list, but this is what I have so far! If anyone has any thoughts or ideas of cats to add/remove from this list, let me know! I'd love to hear other's opinions!

I've gotta know, where does Heathertail fall into the rewrite? She's one of my favorite side characters, I find it so funny she was friends with Lionblaze and then went to date his messed up half brother. She feels like an 'I can fix him' kind of girl and I love that for her. Also, obviously, the drama she could have had about Darktail and Onestar, which could have been very interesting family drama. And, speaking of that, Whitetail isn't Onestat's apprentice anymore, right? If she's even still Heathertail's mother.
Tumblr media
[ID: Halfbody sketch of Heathertail from Warrior Cats. She has a long face, purple eyes, and one long whisker. She's a pale ginger with sandy ears, muzzle, and legs with brown stripes. She's glaring at something off-screen.]
Heather has a VERY expanded role in this rewrite. I'm VERY normal about kids with complicated relationships to their dads.
FIRST THINGS FIRST;
She's a bit of a rebel, but not completely disloyal either. She marches to the beat of her own drum, but stays in-tune with the band, y'know?
If she feels like she's got a good reason for doing something you can't stop her.
Heathertail's Clanmew name is Wishswash-- "Bell Heather Tail".
Contrast to Heatherstar's Clanmew name, Ssinbshai-- "Common Heather Tail"
Onestar's new reduxed parentage is Cloudrunner x Larksplash.
He was named Onekit because he is the only survivor of his birth. His siblings were stillborn and his mother died in the process. It's a hard word to translate; "Ul-arra" means One, but also a whole fraction, and loneliness.
I like the idea that Heathertail looks ginger in some lights, especially as she grows older and her pelt brightens. Like Firestar, or Brushblaze is flashing through her, somehow. A haunting for Onestar.
Onestar's apprentice was Runningbrook, who traumatically dies young in TNP.
Whitetail was not Onestar's apprentice nor was she even his mate; Heathertail was the result of an Honor Siring.
Whitetail wanted kittens and decided to ask the leader of the Clan. Onestar requested co-parenting.
There was no Galekit, Heathertail was from a single-kit litter.
(because im saving galekit for someone else's litter)
Heatherpaw in Po3
Since Bonefall Po3 is episodic and worldbuilding-focused, Heatherpaw is able to feature in a bunch of individual conflicts
She is meeting HOLLY in the tunnels this time around, not Lion
They catch feelings for each other, but Heather isn't as ready to ride as Holly is.
Pressure from her father as tensions between Thunder and Wind grow, Holly's growing investment in their relationship, and eventually the kittens getting lost following her, Heather breaks it off and stops seeing Holly.
When Sedge reveals the secret tunnels to Onestar, Heather was EXTREMELY uncomfortable that One immediately started planning to use it to attack ThunderClan
he was one of Breezepaw's friends who joined him on his dog-patrol, and feels bad he got in the most trouble when they were all part of the bad idea
She starts to develop a growing resentment for her father. He's unfair, he wants conflict when there doesn't need to be any, it's upsetting.
She does NOT join the Dark Forest though. She IS approached, but knows right away that this is bad news
Breezepelt's growing radicalization along with her old friends is concerning, but she doesn't know what to do without snitching
Yeah this is bad, but IMAGINE telling dad about this and seeing him do something drastic. She doesn't trust either side.
Onestar's not always the worst but she also doesn't feel like he reliably makes good choices.
Unlike canon, she is not a Breezepelt Stan after OotS. She doesn't trust him, for good reason. However, she is more sympathetic to his conspirators. Especially Sunstrike, who was so badly wounded in the battle that exiling her could have been a death sentence.
Heathertail in AVoS
She is a main character in AVoS this time around.
Her narrative use is to be the inside voice of WindClan. She's there to see how Onestar grows increasingly paranoid, and to point out his cruelty as he refuses to aid ShadowClan, and how this eventually leads to Darktail assuming control of it.
This is important because The Kin starts as a small problem. The point here is that the fall of ShadowClan could have been avoided if pigheaded Clan isolationism hadn't gotten in the way.
This directly leads to the Law of the Lake at the end of this arc-- that all Clans have a responsibility to preserve the others.
But, back to the story
The first members of WindClan who join the Kin are Known Halfclans and Dark Forest trainees. Cats who feel ostracized. Breezepelt is the very first, Sedgewhisker probably joins next.
(Adding a bit of depth to Sedge by saying that Gorsetail fumbled her secret and spilled the beans about Beechfur)
That causes the treatment of the deputy Harespring, the elder Sunstrike, and her mate Furzepelt to get worse, though they keep trying to prove their loyalty at first.
ONESTAR is not the one who makes his confession. Darktail pushes him and pushes him, trying to goad him into admitting it, finally revealing his pedigree after a point I haven't worked out yet.
And it's at this point he recruits Heathertail directly.
Heathertail joins The Kin, wanting to know more, and to hear out the other side of her father's legacy
Unfortunately, this was a trap. Darktail wants to hurt Onestar and the minute he feels Heathertail 'betrays' him in some way, she's in the same boat
She rekindles her friendship with Breezepelt in the meanwhile
Dark keeps Heather around for a while until some minor infraction pops up, and he uses this to execute her and a bunch of others (probably talking to cats outside of The Kin, maybe even Onestar himself and Darktail says this is spying)
And this becomes the moment where Breezepelt makes his dramatic turn.
"Execution? But, you said... you said you only wanted to show her the truth, not hurt her??"
"This is our truth. Breezepelt, you understand it better than anyone-- you want to bring the same pain to your own father as I'm about to do to my treacherous blood-kin."
Breeze has a moment here, realizing that he DOESN'T want to be Darktail and Heathertail doesn't deserve this
He has more to work through but right now those are the two major things
Heathertail escapes with several others including Breezepelt, back to WindClan.
After this, she's a huge proponent for SkyClan's inclusion at the lake. She is probably a major reason why the Law of the Lake is passed, cutting through general fear and xenophobia to remind everyone that The Kin never would have gotten as big as it did if the Clans had not allowed ShadowClan to falter.
The Clans need some good peppering of characters who make reasonable, diplomatic arbiters who are good at public speaking. That's how I'm seeing Heather.

Hey Bones, how are you going to handle Alderheart's switch into becoming a med cat? In cannon it's...pretty disgusting ngl. They basically kinda force him, and this is before he had any dreams about Skyclan, so...which made me even angrier at the Alder/Velvet situation because No, Jay he didn't willingly choose! It's just..ug. I wish we could give one of Lion/Cinder's multiple litters to him cause he's such a good dad.
Oh it's GROSS in canon, I completely agree. It's insulting how consistently disabled cats get shoved into the medcat role. Girl... that is anxiety. This man is displaying Severe Anxiety. That is an ADA-recognized disability
Some noteworthy changes
Bonefall AVoS has a big POV shift The POVs are split between Heathertail, Breezepelt, and Needletail with her POV shifting to Violetshine after her death. It is a WindClan and ShadowClan centric arc; we are not in ThunderClan.
Alderheart and Sparkpelt are the kittens of Jessy and Bramblestar. And Jessy may have taken Alderheart in the kitty-divorce. His visions lead him back to the Clan; Velvet is an old childhood friend.
Jayfeather is not Alderheart's family. Bramblestar loudly disowned the Three at that fateful gathering and they did not forgive him. Jayfeather wouldn't take it out on a kid but... he's really not happy with the situation.
Bramblestar's issues with his kids would be so large it would fill up an SE Bramble is emotionally abusive. His children have extremely complex feelings on him. They love him, but also dread dealing with him, but appreciate him for things he's done, but also feel like their pain isn't justified... it's a lot.
Not to mention how Alder and Spark feel about each other Spark blames Jessy for leaving her all alone, but Alder doesn't blame her at all. Spark feels like Alder takes away her 'right to be angry' in a sense but can't articulate that. Alder feels like she's not the same cat he remembers.
I like these guys they're fucked up. They ended up being so interesting that I had to remove their POV completely for Bonefall AVoS. They're so fascinating that they would eat up all of The Kin's screentime, which should be the main focus of this arc.

Every time you talk about Rowanstar drowning all his lives for Tigerheart, it hits me so hard. In canon after a leader loses a life, they have a brief chat with StarClan while their body recovers, so I just imagine Rowanstar dying. And talking to StarClan. And coming back. And dying again. He's drowning and it's slow and painful and deliberate and between deaths some StarClan cats try to dissuade him and others support him and give him a moment to rest. Again and again, he chooses Heart to live.
And just before the end of every chat, he sees Tigerheart there, the stars shining fresh on her fur. He plunges back into life and dives even deeper.

how does rowanstar die in your rewrite? it's always felt to me like he was only leader for such a short time and he lost his lives so quickly
Leaders can't give up their lives anymore, they have to burn through ALL of them before the next leader gets theirs.
So I'm planning for him to be cursed with horrible immortality, unable to perish and unable to lead. When Tigerheart returns with Dovewing and dies, he's saddled with outliving his last child as well
So in MY version, he grabs his daughter's body and plunges into the Moonpool, desperately pushing her down as far as they'll go, drowning himself and ripping away the last of his lives for hers.

Is Rowan going to be as hated by StarClan as he was in canon? Like with Blackstar saying he ruined everything and Needletail still blaming him after he died, or will there be more of StarClan that sympathizes with him?
@halogenwarrior
He will DEFINITELY not be as hated by StarClan.
In fact it is very frustrating that canon rips into Rowanstar so badly for... *checks notes* having rebellious teens who were manipulated by a cult leader, but ONESTAR gets to abandon a kitten, deny medicine, bark and holler that ShadowClan needs to get its shit together as he refuses to help at all, and then gets his own super edition where the Erins all but pop open a can of friskies for him
No. Bonefall AVoS is an arc about Darktail, a charismatic Pied Piper, exploiting legitimate weaknesses in clan society by playing up to cats who feel frustrated and alienated. Starting off with only a few supporters, The Kin never would have become the threat it became if something was done sooner.
And this creates the Law of the Lake; that all Clans have a responsibility to preserve the others.
So, Rowanstar will still be seen as someone too soft, who should have done something, and as foolish and cruel for dividing Twig and Violet for no reason (depending on how this reason gets worked out...). But StarClan doesn't hate his guts
And they CERTAINLY don't hate his guts when he drowns himself several times to resurrect his daughter, StarClan would be incredibly emotional seeing him do something so brave. They aren't ALL spite and smite!

so how does sharpclaw end up associating with darktail and his rogues? i want all the drama
Lays on my belly and kicks my legs up all giddy-like
So get this; Darktail's modus operandi is divide and conquer. The destruction of SkyClan is this on full display. He enters a group, quietly observes the dynamics, acts as a loose ear you can vent to, and then exploits everything he learned.
There was no reason to reject him, of course not. He had less than 6 cats, and SkyClan is a well-trained fighting force that regularly accepts travelers. The proto-Kin couldn't have done it without help.
Sharpclaw wasn't murderous on his own, he was just xenophobic towards cats who don't "live the right way". He felt like he wasn't appreciated or listened to (in reality Leafstar listened to him plenty, his ideas were just Bad), and thought he was going to be stuck as deputy for the rest of his life. Darktail heard him.
"The daylight warriors don't respect our customs"
"Me and my cats want to join full time. See, we'll even change our names to fit Clan society."
"It's like she doesn't listen to me"
"You talk and it falls on deaf ears, that's so unfair"
"I'll be deputy until I die"
"...Or until she does."
Bigotry is a weakness, like a disease. It spreads in your mind and makes you prone to influence, it overrides your critical thinking skills and makes you angry and scared all the time. That's what Darktail did.
He found the highest ranking guy in the Clan with the most exploitable problems, and used it to deepen a wedge. This is why I find it important that there's only 6 non-Clan cats who are part of the Kin in this Rewrite; all others are going to be recruited Clan cats
(SICK of canon making Barbaric Hordes the main villains and conjuring up faceless nobodies for conflict)

The idea of Frankie/Stormcloud being a kitty pet with a big scar from surviving getting hit by a car is so interesting honestly. And the idea that everyone is like "you survived a monster? Please. Please spar with me. Please." Makes me very happy for him. Something about being appreciated for something you previously weren't.
I am also super super fond of the idea of Stormcloud just being this total battle prodigy, y'know? No one thinks the kittypet is going to be this good, but he just completely loves training, he's always down to spar, he uses his battle moves to pull off cool stunts...
It's no wonder he took to battle so fondly, people see his scar and think "what chance do I have when a monster could only dent him?" HUGE confidence boost
Just goes from "someone's house pet" to "Stormcloud of ThunderClan"
Plus it's neat next to Fernsong, who is a total den dad. Still likes the sedentary life. Friends with the same origin and totally different paths.

Does Onestar go to the Dark Forest? Cuz I remember you mentioning you dislike "redemption through death" and he technically did violate Darkstar’s Commandment by abandoning his own kit so :/
No, he does not go to the Dark Forest
They don't instant-damn for single violations of the Warrior Code, though they do blame him for abandoning Darktail and are a lot more pissed about him allowing The Kin to get as bad as it did.
But, this is before the Law of the Lake, and during a time StarClan is much softer. He DOES get a Trial, but not enough of them are FURIOUS angry to enter emotional-override.
It's very... disappointed. Loving but disappointed. Especially from people like Firestar and Tallstar, who wanted Onestar to rule peacefully, and help the other Clans. The people who are angriest with him are the people who loved him the most.
Cats like Skystar think he was great. Cats like his dad Cloudrunner wouldn't damn him.
But I do think they allow Darktail to testify at this trail. He needs to go to the Dark Forest, he's an evil cat who horribly drowned several young warriors, but they will still allow him to say his piece on the cat who abandoned him.
"...And I hope that you all vote to accept him," He says to wide eyes, "Because the worst punishment of all is having everything he denied me. His friends, his family, his leader name. Every time you see him, remember the place he denied me, and remember every warrior I sent here to get my revenge."

bonefall it's 2am but I'm having Thoughts about your shadowsight post.
"fully thunderclan-blooded since his father is bumblestripe . . . raised in shadowclan with his moms after dove realized bumble wouldn't leave her alone"
i don't know if you've mentioned this in a post already and i'm too new but i'm begging you to spill the Relationship Drama (tm) and the Trauma (tm)
I welcome all newbies, I am always willing to Spill the Dramatic Beans
So this time around, Dovewing is legitimately caught between these two options. Bumblestripe isn't obviously awful from the beginning-- for a while, she does very much love and appreciate him.
Bumblestripe has an emotional complex; he's always felt like he isn't very important to his family, so he tries to fill that emptiness with Dovewing. He wants to be attached to her hip, is always thinking of her, goes out of his way to give her attention...
But the problem with Bumblestripe is that if he doesn't feel like you're reciprocating, GOD he is miserable. He wants her to give more than she can possibly give and his plays for attention can get exhausting; it's a massive contrast to how self-assured and independent Tigerheart is.
So let's cut to the time just after the Great Battle.
Dovewing is losing her powers, and with it... goes her hearing. Suddenly she has the whole Clan's pity. The same people who shoved her at every problem, even though she cried and tried to tell them she had limits, are now the same people trying to tell her what her NEW limits are.
Yeah so what, she's hard-of-hearing now-- it's not like ANYONE ELSE listens in this goddamn Clan what's the big fucking deal
(maybe that's not fair to cats like Cinderheart, Briarlight, and Poppyfrost... but when you're mad that gets lost really easily.)
She's a-little-more-than-friends with Bumblestripe, but not officially dating. He makes her feel valuable and important, but at the same time, he's often just as suffocating as everyone else in ThunderClan. He's there for her to help her lipread, happily throws himself into learning Clan Glyphs, and uses battle-tail signs in regular conversation... but god forbid she just wants to go for a walk. Or go help Aunt Poppyfrost in the garden. Or start moving on with her life!
No one ever seems to ask Dovewing what SHE wants. What SHE feels comfortable doing. And it doesn't help that Bumblestripe is not patient when she goes against something he's planned, or she just wants alone time.
And meanwhile she is, of course, still seeing Tigerheart frequently. She is refreshingly uninterested in what Dovewing can't do. With the limited time they have together, it's all about what they DO have. The sights, the smells, their old inside jokes (Dovewing is ranting one day and Tigerheart puts her paw on her mouth, steps back, and does a backflip. Dovewing makes a joke about how she can't just backflip every time she wants to say 'don't worry'. Tigerheart grins and backflips again.)
It feels good. It feels right. Dovewing wants a fresh start to her life, and she wants to stop being ThunderClan's 'pity project'. She's getting a reputation in ThunderClan of being snappy and sensitive, making people trust her even less to do her own thing, she can barely look at her dad and uncle without being reminded of the Dark Forest Battle and the Prophecy...
The events of AVoS are no help to her feelings of discontent. ShadowClan falls apart as the Kin swallows it whole, Tigerheart needs her more than ever, she's caught between her family and clanmates or leaping headlong into a new life. But what of the danger? Does she know Tigerheart well enough to make that leap? What if her new life is the same as this one, but without anyone she knows and loves?
Meanwhile, Bumblestripe was there with her in this emotional time.
Aaaaand she ended up pregnant, and somehow, THAT was what made her snap. Bumblestripe would NEVER just let her raise her kits alone in ThunderClan, he would demand to be their father, she had no idea how her Clanmates would react, if they would try to infringe on her parenting the way they do with everything else, and at the same time, they weren't Tigerheart's! How could she know if she would take her in, especially into SkyClan, a Clan she's ALSO an outsider in???
So she SKEDADDLED. Got OUT of there. Packed her little kitty bags and beat it. If it sucks hit da bricks. Tigerheart followed... and the rest is history. The two moms came home with new friends, ready to hit the reset button on ShadowClan.
Minor setback where Tigerheart died and her dad plunged into the sacred Moonpool and drowned himself several times so his daughter could resurrect as Heartstar, of course. Small bump in the road. It's fine. She's ok now
