7, 11 and 35 for the microstory prompts please?
Have some Smol Garrus™️ and Cecilia!
Cecilia stands in silent fury, staring at Garrus, who smiles up at her, blue crayon in-hand, his doodles all over the mural she and Val had painted for him. Toddler meat paste clings to his mandibles from his abandoned lunch - “I’m not hungry!” he’d shouted at her, when she knew for certain he’d be whining for food an hour before dinner.
Turns out her filthy little menace of a son had other plans, and those plans were to cause destruction around the house. She takes a deep breath, and the little life in her belly flutters, leaving her wondering just how she’ll manage two vandals once this new baby is out and walking.
“What do we draw on with crayons?” she says, more patient than her seething anger would suggest. He’s a child. He’s learning. He’s going to make mistakes.
“I wanted to give you a present,” little Garrus chirps, face falling, his subvocals humming with confusion.
A conversation about vandalism follows, and that night, when she calls Cas to give him the news, instead of showing frustration, he chuckles. Chuckles!
“It’s just a wall, Ceci,” Cas says calmly before explaining how to get the crayon off without stripping the paint. Something he had practice in during his days as a junior officer in the holding cells, apparently.
“He likes to draw. Why don’t I buy him some painting supplies here and bring them home?”
She stares blankly at Cas. Of course he’d suggest bringing paint into their home. Of course.
“No.”
“Ceci, with proper supervision…”
“No.”
“I would…”
“I am too pregnant for this shit,” she says firmly, and Castis shuts his mouth, adopting the same expression Garrus had on his face when she caught him drawing on the wall. Like father, like son.
“Yes, Ceci.”

tagged 4 a ‘wip whenever’ by @vakarians-girl! :)
some of the da3 stuff ive been sweating over
A few minutes pass without Cullen returning. Then a few more. Leliana begins briskly sorting through field reports. Josephine shuffles her notes to one side and finishes her letter to the Marchioness DuRellion.
“What song is that?”
She meets Kit’s sharp gaze and immediately regrets it. “What?”
“What you were humming.”
“...Humming?”
Leliana coughs, and when Josephine looks over, she’s smiling a little in the shadow of her hood.
“What did it sound like?” Josephine presses.
He pauses for a moment, then whistles the first four bars of Cecilia’s aria like a thrush in a garden. Josephine’s good manners prevent her from staring for longer than is polite.
“Fournier,” she says. “From La princesse de Barindur. It is... a favorite of mine. Was I really humming again? I do apologize.”
“Oh, Josie,” says Leliana, fondly. “It’s just quiet enough for us to hear you, that’s all.”

Break and skin for Ceci and Tully, I’m already bracing
break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
Tullia - She broke down completely after Tarquin died, and it involved a lot of crying and screaming at Sparatus' home on the Citadel, where she was staying after evacuating off Palaven. For a time, she lost the will to live, and when Cerberus tried to take over the Citadel, she defended Sparatus' staff at the house, and was actually disappointed the house and panic room weren't breached, because she wanted to fight and she wanted to die on her feet.
This really scares her - she's always been a fighter and she's never, ever given up, but she perceives herself as being on the verge of giving up. She throws herself into charity work, calling and haranguing everyone she can think of for donations to help the turian refugees, but what really starts her on the road to healing is recognizing that she still wants a life with Adrien, even if she's furious with him for his role in their son's death, and rescuing Marcus and Nero on the Citadel.
Cecilia - Cecilia is a tougher one. I think her biggest breakdown comes in response to Castis' insistence that they'll find a treatment for her and that she'll respond to it. In her mind, his unending optimism was a naive coping strategy, and she needs for him to get in his head that she is going to die, and that there are things that need to be done while she still has the capacity to make her own decisions. That came in the form of a shouting match.
Now, had she lost one of her children, I think that would have been a very ugly breakdown indeed. Castis and Solana hide the fact that Garrus has left his job and gone off to who knows where specifically so that Cecilia won't worry - and so they don't have to tell her the news repeatedly and break her heart every single time. "He's busy with work" is how they protect a very ill Cecilia from the terrible worry they're feeling.
skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?
Tullia - The part of Tullia that she's most ashamed of is the way she told Adrien he wasn't so different from his father after all, after learning about Tarquin's death. For the most part, she's very comfortable with the person she is; she's confident and secure, but when she was at her very worst, weaponized Adrien's greatest fear and hurt him in a way few others ever could. She has to live with that, and for the rest of her life, tries to make sure he knows what a good dad he is, and that he's more than the worst mistake he ever made.
Cecilia - Cecilia has an anxiety disorder and is prone to panic attacks. After her diagnosis during her early days of basic training, I think she was probably pretty hard on herself, because it became clear that she would never live up to the "turian ideal". The thing is, her family, her friends, and her immediate superiors understood! She discovered an important part of herself - and the reason why she'd always felt so deeply scared from the time she was a young child. She has a medical condition, received an accommodation, and was discharged to serve the Hierarchy in another way - no big deal!
Still, she's not that ideal, and there were people who didn't understand. Castis taking the revelation so casually, despite being in the military himself at the time, was a real relief for her. She learns coping strategies over the years - she's neurotic about money so she handles the family's finances. She worries about Castis on the Citadel, so he makes every effort to text her goodnight every single night - and is very good at warning her if he would be unable to for some reason. I think she does need a bit of help to learn what accommodations she needs, and that it is fine to have different needs from the other people around her.

🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
Castis, as hard as he tries, never does manage to plan a properly romantic date for Cecilia - but it's a relief to her in a way, because it's so much more fun for her to tease him about his romantic incompetence, and she wouldn't know what to do on a properly romantic date!
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I'd posted a teeny, tiny bit of Dragon Age fanfiction, but it was the early days of the pandemic that got me into writing at length. I'd gone through the Greedfall fics on AO3 and had read literally every De Sardet/Vasco fic on there, and realized I'd need to write my own stuff to see the content I wanted to read.
🎨 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it
It took me a bit to find it but this is my favourite fanart! I love the colours and the wistfulness of it.

Desire, fear and future for Ceci, Aurelia and Scarlett please?
desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
Cecilia - More than anything else, Cecilia wants her children and Castis to be OK after she dies. She wants Garrus and Castis to learn how to get along, and she doesn't want the family to fracture when she's not there to hold them together. Early on in her illness she's very open about this with Castis, because she needs him to cooperate and make the effort to change, and figure out how to be what his kids need him to be.
Aurelia - She wants to be an artist and an architect, and she wants to help make Tuchanka a better, safer place for the krogan. It's a dream she's had from a very young age, and her entire family knows it, and when needed, step in to help her onto the path to reach her goals.
Scarlett - Scarlett is a tougher one, but ultimately, I think she really wants to understand herself and where she came from. It was tough for her to find information about her family - she had so little to go on, and that makes her vulnerable to a biological relative who was hoping to grab hold of her and use her as a bargaining chip. Luckily, this doesn't wind up happening, but it does really make it clear to the rest of her family that they need to help her learn about her biological family.
fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?
Cecilia - For a long time, losing Castis is probably number one, which then expands to losing Castis or one of her kids.
Aurelia - I'm going to go with two here: ceiling beams, because one fell on her during the war and seriously wounded her, and losing her dad. The latter is cruel of me, because I'm (very) slowly writing a fic about the last year of Adrien's life. Aurelia is taking care of him and working on a graphic novel biography of his life, and it's such a deeply sad story that I can write a few hundred words at a time, and then I'm crying and need to switch off to work on something else before I cry myself into a headache.
Scarlett - She's very shy and is afraid of public speaking - a fear she needs to get over as she moves up the ranks in C-Sec, because once she hits a certain level, she's expected to participate in media briefings! Castis is probably the only one who knows just how much this scares her, and he'd visit the Citadel and give her some tips, as a fellow quiet introvert who had to periodically participate in such things during his career.
future: What's the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it's a possibility?
Cecilia - Ooh, I have a darkest timeline that I hinted at where Castis opted to remain in the military so they wouldn't have to do a whole year of long distance while Cecilia was finishing school. The ship he served on was destroyed and she realizes just how closely she came to losing him. I haven't written it - I'm not sure I ever would, but she doesn't take the loss well.
Aurelia - Remaining in the military after she wound up shot by a sniper when she was 21. She was deeply depressed and struggling, and eventually admits to herself that she hadn't checked for a sniper because she was hoping, deep down, that she would get hit. Had she not been transferred, I think she would have wound up killed in action.
Scarlett - Had she gone to Chicago to track down her uncle, who was the head of an organized crime syndicate in the city, he'd probably have taken her hostage. She becomes aware that it was a possibility and it does frighten her to think about what very easily could have happened, and that it would force her parents out of retirement, because they'd rush to Chicago and make sure not a single person responsible for her kidnapping survives.

For the hurt/comfort prompts: "Did you hear me?" with... Castis and Ceci pls 🥺
Ooh, this is a good one and I'm sure you won't be surprised by the direction I went with it! Have some emotional terrorism.
Ceci remains beautiful; her spirit remains, even if her cruel illness has locked it away much of the time, and her eyes are a brilliant blue. Her plates are dull and brittle, and at this stage of her illness it is difficult to get her to eat, so she is far too thin; withered like a flower in a drought.
“You’d look so beautiful in the moonlight tonight,” he says, wistful.
“It’s a full moon, Cas?” Ceci’s hoarse voice rings out in the dim room, startling him.
“Did you hear me?” he asks her and she turns and smirks at him as if he’s being foolish.
“You were speaking loudly, so it was impossible not to. Why am I not riding you in the moonlight right now?”
His heart clenches at the well-meaning question, but it gives him insight into her current state - lucid, but unaware of her condition. She’s liable to want intimacy she cannot consent to. It hit him not long ago that they’ll never be intimate again, and he despairs, because it never would have been enough. They could have forever and it wouldn’t have been enough.
Why didn’t he tell her this? Such a fool he is; now it’s too late.
“How about we sit outside in your garden?” he says, hoping the idea of lovemaking will slip away from her, but that the lucidity stays.

For the OC asks, please may I have: -💯, 💔and 💘 for Cecilia pls 🥺 and then maybe... -🥯, 🍃 and 🎮 for Adrien (I know it says OC but frankly you know him better than bioware shh)
Cecilia:
💯
She likes to sing! She's not an amazing singer, but it's one of her favourite ways to comfort her kids when they're young.
She's allergic to varrens and the thought of experimenting with allergy medication to find a combination that works exacerbates her anxiety. This is something that was missed during the gene therapy she received while her mother was pregnant with her, and her parents probably could have pursued some sort of claim, but figured a pet allergy is hardly the worst thing that could happen.
She's only had a few sips of alcohol in her life - after her anxiety disorder diagnosis, she resolved to avoid intoxicants. Plus she just didn't like the taste of it and never understood why people would want to drink something that (in her mind) tastes gross.
💔
She's stubborn, and sometimes pushes too hard when she encounters red tape or a rule that prevents her from doing something. Garrus gets that from her!
When she's hurting, she can be blunt in a way that hurts those around her in an attempt to get through to them. This is most apparent following her diagnosis when Castis is struggling with the reality of the situation.
If you buy her the wrong brand of food/personal care products she gets cranky.
💘
I'm gonna cheat and say Castis, Garrus and Solana. Castis would claim that she puts the kids above him (and believes that is the way things should be), but when the kids are old enough to be left with her sister, Val, once a year she travels to the Citadel to spend a week with Castis - just the two of them. Her marriage is important to her and she recognizes the need to have time alone.
Adrien:
🥯
Before having children, it was usually a protein bar as he was going out the door, but after the kids are born, he and Tullia really want to get their children into the habit of eating healthy meals for breakfast, so one of them cooks breakfast every morning. When he's home, this means he almost always has a hot breakfast - eggs, toast, sausages and dextro bacon are common breakfast items in the Victus household.
🍃
Military tactics and the pre-combat lessons he received in grade school before beginning basic training. He was obsessed with strategy - partially because he wanted to find a way to do things better.
🎮
Bad movies! It started out as a form of rebellion for him - his dad wouldn't let them watch action movies, indicating that they'd rot their brains, so as soon as Adrien left for basic training he downloaded as many action movies as he could get his hands on. Unfortunately no one intervened as he wound up with a bunch of really lame ones, but he discovered how fun it was to crack jokes while watching them, and it's something he got his sister, Sabina into, and then decades later, he started watching them with his daughter, Aurelia.
Exercise. Keeping in combat condition is a priority for him, which means he maintains a strict exercise regimen that includes an early morning run and at least an hour in the gym. He doesn't necessarily spar with someone every time he visits the gym, but he does several times a week, and post-retirement often finds himself fighting fairly green young people who haven't been around at the gym long enough to realize that he's really damn good at hand-to-hand. Most of the people his age at the gym are smart enough to stay well away from the sparring ring when he's around!
Photography. As a boy, someone gave him a camera and it became an excuse to escape the estate. He prefers landscape photography and enjoys hiking to photograph captivating views, sunrises, sunsets, and anything else that happens to catch his eye. He refuses to ever sell his photos - at least while he's still alive, because it's important to him that it remain a hobby and not an occupation.

❤ - How We Met still owes me for emotional damages but Citadel Adventures is my favourite comfort re-read
How We Met is one of my favourite gut punches that I've ever written and I'm very proud of it. I like Castis and Cecilia so much and even though their story ends in tragedy in canon, they have a really beautiful love story.

May I ask for 7, 12 and 26 for Barrix and/or 4, 25 and 26 for Castis and Ceci for the couples character development questions please?
7. Do they (or would they) pursue the other character’s affection, and if so, how? Do they tell the other character how they feel? Try to earn their admiration? Woo them with romantic gestures? Flirt with them, skillfully or otherwise?
Avitus never would have pursued Macen - he enjoyed the flirtation during the mission where they met, but had Macen not actually asked him out, nothing ever would have come of it. For Macen, he did a quick search and found a photo of Avitus, realized he was attractive, and was at a point where he was feeling pretty lonely and decided it was worth inching back into the dating world. Macen has a pretty good read on Avitus from the beginning, and recognizes his tendency to self-sabotage (arriving late on their first date, wearing clothes that don't fit so he looks messy and not put together, etc), so accommodates for that.
12. How much independence do they prefer in a relationship—do they want to share their lives as much as possible with their partner, or do they prefer to mostly do their own thing and let their partner do their own thing?
They want to share their lives as much as possible! Avitus doesn't quite know how to ask for that early on - it's what he wants but he isn't even able to admit it to himself, because he's so used to being alone and afraid of losing more people he loves, in addition to his self-loathing, but Macen can see this and works through it as best he can with him.
26. They have an argument with their partner—what is it about? Do things stay respectful, or is there some shouting and accusing going on?
Macen isn't the sort to lose his temper or raise his voice, so on his end it's more a charged conversation. Avitus does lose his temper and has yelled, but Macen knows when to step away from an argument to give them both a chance to cool down, so they can come at it with a fresh mindset.
And for Castis and Cecilia!
25. They accidentally hurt or upset their partner. What happened? How do they respond? What do they do to make their partner feel better?
For Castis, it would either be related to his challenging relationship with Garrus (so a heated argument between them, for example), or something coming up that would prevent him from being able to message Cecilia before bed, causing her to worry that something happened to him.
With the former, Castis can be stubborn and resistant to Cecilia's urging that he "meet Garrus where he's at" and not assume their 12-year-old son will become a lawless criminal because he happens to find Spectres fascinating (and is a fan of "those damned Blasto vids").
With the latter, Castis feels terrible and messages her as soon as he's able, with a profuse apology. While he can be obtuse in some ways, he's very aware of her anxiety disorder and the impact it has on her life, and works hard to structure their life together to accommodate her needs. Life sometimes happens - they both know that, but he tries so hard not to cause her more anxiety.
26. They have an argument with their partner—what is it about? Do things stay respectful, or is there some shouting and accusing going on?
Almost all of the time they fight fair - the two of them love a good debate, so when they wind up arguing, they keep it to the conflict at hand and do not bring up past issues between them.
Sometimes there is yelling when things get particularly emotionally charged, though.

🥘🌼🤦‍♀️ for Ceci and Tully my darlings
🥘 Ceci has a sweet tooth and loves a good cake - specifically one that has a cookie base and chocolate frosting.
🥘Tully is a big fan of seafood, but especially fish. There's a spicy fish stew that she loves (based on laksa) that her mom always made her that she craved badly while pregnant with Tarquin, so Adrien and her dad went to extreme lengths figuring out how to make her late mom's stew for her.
🌼Ceci has the girl next door thing going on. She enjoys dressing well but otherwise does not put a ton of time into her appearance, giving her an effortless beauty.
🌼Tully on the other hand, has a unique, almost other-wordly beauty to her. She has emerald green eyes and pale, pearlescent plates, but what gathers the most attention from the estate folks Adrien grew up around is the fact that her fringe is just the slightest bit asymmetrical. To them, it's a sign of ugliness, but Adrien sees it as special and thinks she's the most beautiful person in the galaxy.
🤦‍♀️ Ceci would never admit it, but she's a little embarrassed by how far she went to fight the neighbourhood's rules on play structure heights. Garrus and Sol's was too tall, and Castis wanted her to just remove the part that did not comply with the regulations but she refused, accepting fine after fine until Castis realized just what was going on (she... may have told him she'd "dealt with it"). It's probably the worst argument they ever have, and ends with Ceci agreeing to fight to have the rules changed instead of just ignoring the rules.
🤦‍♀️Tully struggled with Tarquin's toddler years and the inevitable public tantrums. While mostly well-behaved, Tully is not known for her patience and on one occasion when Tarquin really melted down in a grocery store, right in front of colleagues of hers who just happened to be shopping at the same time, she found herself wishing she could sink into the floor and disappear.

😱🎳🤝 for Ceci pls!!
😱 For Ceci, it depends on when it is. Early on in her relationship with Castis, her greatest fear is losing him while he's on deployment. Once he's at C-Sec, she does worry that he'll get wounded or killed in the line of duty, but it's not something she lingers on, like she does when he's in the military.
Once the kids are born, she worries about them - their safety, whether they're doing a good job raising them, whether they'll find their place in the world, etc.
Following her diagnosis, she is terrified that Garrus and Castis will never be able to make peace with one another and that Garrus will remain cut off from the rest of the family for the rest of his life.
🎳 She loves to garden! She maintains an elaborate garden and it's her pride and joy. She also enjoys tinkering with tech - building and upgrading it (with questionable legality - she knows how to jailbreak things and does so regularly).
🤝Ceci is an extrovert who loves being around people, and would say that she has better social skills than average. At work, she's the one who takes on the task of scheduling office events (holiday meals, cakes for people's birthdays, etc), and everyone is happy to cede the task to her because she always does a great job at bringing everyone together for whatever reason they're celebrating.

fic asks T, L, Y (i was gonna do tully but you already answered U. tlly.) :3
T: Any fanfic tropes you can’t stand?
Answered here!
L:  Which of your fanfics was the most emotionally challenging to write?
Is it cheating if I talk about a fic I haven't published yet and may never be able to bring myself to finish? I started work on a fic about the last year of Adrien's life last summer. It focuses on Aurelia interviewing her father for a graphic novel based on his life, and how she cares for him and struggles to balance her deep desire to finish her book before her dad dies and spending that time with him, making memories. It's heavy and sad, and I generally cannot write more than a couple hundred words at a time before I become a blubbering mess.
I started writing it after a family member became very sick, and that family member has recently died, and I sort of have this story and my family member connected in my head, so right now I think it'd be too painful for me to poke away at.
In terms of published works, anything focusing on Cecilia Vakarian's illness was really tough to write. How We Met probably has the most painful gut punch I've ever published in the final chapter.
Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories?  Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?
The works I'm proudest of are definitely not my most popular ones. They tend to be my more niche works, or works I've written for a fandom that's very quiet, meaning few are around to read anything I publish. That's not to say I'm not satisfied with my most popular works - but the positive reception I received from some of them gave me the confidence to stretch myself and start writing/developing far more minor characters.

Get to Know Me!
Tagged by @korblez, over here! Thanks!
Rules: Tag 10 or more people you want to get to know better
Fave ships: At this very moment, I've been really into Tav/Astarion, Tav/Karlach and I just started writing my Tav/Astarion/Karlach fic! I'm so stupidly excited about the OT3 fic, because Karlach is just SO exasperated with Petra and Astarion being completely unable to have one single adult conversation about their feelings. Like, they could have been making out and cuddling weeks before they sort their shit out in this universe.
I'm sort of perma-feral for Adrien Victus/Tullia Victus, and Castis Vakarian/Cecilia Vakarian - gotta give some love to my DILFs. 💜
Favorite color: Blue and purple - don't make me choose between them!
Song stuck in my head: I'm extremely on-brand at the moment and have A Letter To Georgia by The Airborne Toxic Event stuck in my head. Been feeling melancholy and it sort of fits my current frame of mind.
Favorite food: I'm really into charcuterie right now, so we'll go with that!
Last song listened to: Hero by Family of the Year. I was doing some writing over my lunch hour and I feel like that song has a real Astarion vibe to it, so I listen to it often while working on my current BG3 WIPs.
Last tv show/movie: My partner and I are watching the fourth season of Barry at the moment. We just finished White Lotus!
Spicy/sweet/savory?: I love all three so hard, so this is a mean question, but gun to my head I gotta go with sweet.
Currently reading: I've got A Cold and Unfamiliar Home by @thetrashbagswasteland on my to-read list at the moment! I'm reading Perfect Slaughter by Imagineitdear as well - perfect for anyone who is looking for a heavy read to cry the cobwebs out.
Last thing I googled: "Ivy hedge" because I was trying to come up with an OCs last name and my brown-thumbed ass wanted to make sure the name I had in mind would actually make sense.
Tagging: @westernlarch, @dr-paine, @writernopal and anyone else who wants to do this!

Get to know your fanfic writer!
Tagged by @commander-krios - thanks!
When did you post your first ever fanfic?
2005 - it was for the Lost fandom and was a silly little one shot about Vincent the dog.
First Character(s) you wrote?
Captain Jack Sparrow, in a fanfic I wrote as a young teenager in a notebook I still have hidden away somewhere.
Main Character(s) you’re currently writing?
Astarion, Karlach and Petra (my Tav) from Baldur’s Gate 3.
Adrien Victus, Castis Vakarian, Urdnot Wrex, Alec Ryder and Lora Shepard from Mass Effect.
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan to write about soon?
He’s an OC, but Jan, who is Petra’s youngest brother! He’s a sweet bean of a person and I’m not sure if he’ll show up in Lost Souls Like Us or if he’ll make his first major appearance in whatever the sequel is, but he’s a lot more like Petra than her other siblings, and knows the pain of not fitting in with the rest of the family, as Petra does. He’s a lot younger than her (23 years younger!), so she’s very protective of him.

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?
From an as yet untitled Baldur’s Gate 3 WIP:
“Be realistic. Don’t send your youngest son away,” she pleads, but Father gives her a sharp look and when he speaks it's stern; more like Grandfather instead of Father’s own gentle tone.
“You do not contribute more than the bare minimum to the household, therefore you do not get a say in how I raise my son.”
There it is: because she makes magic on stage instead of shoes, she’s not good enough to have an opinion on how her youngest brother spends Mother’s final days.
“Does Jan not get a say in how he lives his life?”
“He’s 14,” Father says, deflating. The carriage arrives to take Jan away and he weeps, wiping his eyes on the velvet sleeves of his black suit. Father told him to wear his nicest outfit for the journey to the academy. A dragon must make a good first impression.
