Royal Tiaras Highlights: The Spencer Tiara
Having been worn by Princess Diana at her wedding, the Spencer Tiara is one of the most famous diadems in modern history. The tiara is reported to have been created originally in 1767 for Viscountess Montagu and remodelled by Garrard in the 1930s: the central motif was purportedly gifted by Lady Sarah Spencer to Viscountess Althorp, the grandmother of Princess Diana, in 1919, after which further motifs were added, resulting in the design we see today. In the mid-1970s, John Spencer, the 8th Earl Spencer, inherited the tiara. It was subsequently worn by all three of his daughters at their wedding: Lady Jane in 1978; Lady Sarah in 1980; and finally Lady Diana the following year, in 1981. The tiara was most recently worn by Celia McCorquodale - niece of the 9th Earl Spencer Charles - at her wedding in the Spring of 2018. The Spencer Tiara remains in the possession of the Spencer family.

Meghan was absolutely never offered the Spencer tiara. Did not happen. Celia McCorquodale, the daughter of Diana's sister Sarah, wore the Spencer tiara at her wedding in June 2018 just weeks after Meghan and Harry married. It was the wedding H&M attended where Meghan wore the bedsheet dress with the toilet paper roll on her head. Why would any of the Spencers, let alone Diana's sisters-one of them being the mother of a bride set to wear that very same tiara in weeks- offer that tiara to Meghan?
Exactly.

Since we’re not getting godparents (yes I know, their kid, their choice, but I was excited so I’m allowed to be low key upset), my Harmless Royal Conspiracy Theory of the day is that these are going to be Archie’s godparents:

Her Oscar De La Renta list- a £2000 coat when she visited SmartWorks, an approximately £10 000 bird dress to Australian Geographic Society Awards, a £4600 flowing dress that looked too big on her to Celia McCorquodale’s wedding, a £1401 flora + fauna dress to Bristol and now this lemon dress. NONE of them suited the occasions despite the hefty price tag except the the most recent one maybe, coz she's sour about being ghosted by the BRF 🤪
The Bird dress freaked me out...it was like that move “The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock. Made me hate crows for years...
I will never forget the Dior dress she wore to the RAF anniversary.
It was a cocktail dress in the daytime to a service event. I mean I liked the dress but it was just not the best choice.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attend the wedding of Princess Diana's niece Celia McCorquodale
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attend the wedding of Princess Diana’s niece Celia McCorquodale
The recently wedded Duke and Duchess of Sussex went to a family wedding yesterday and they looked each piece like the lovestruck couple.
It was the wedding of Harry’s cousin, Celia McCorquodale, 29. Celia is the girl of Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle co-ordinated in powder blue as they watched Princess Diana’s niece get married with George…

Harry's cousin Celia McCorquodale wore the Spencer tiara at her wedding just a few weeks after H&M got married. (That was the wedding Meghan attended with the bed sheet dress...) So I don't think the Spencer tiara was an option for Meghan. I don't doubt Meghan wanted it, and they probably asked for it. But that might be part of why Harry pitched such a fit about the tiara, Meghan probably didn't get her first choice (the Spencer) then got turned down for the other one she wanted too.
Is it bad that it pleased me to read this ;)

I just can’t. This is the WORST she has ever looked. EVER.
It is beyond the unforgivable blue venetian blinds “magic ass flashing” skirt in New Zealand. It is worse than the giant, flapping, floral Givenchy Super 8 bedspread worn to the society wedding of Celia McCorquodale.
It is a fucking polyester monstrosity that probably gave off sparks as she shuffled across the car seat to get out, complete with bare legs and suede slingbacks in the dead of January. Clock the lovely purple hooker bruise on her upper thigh as the dress rides up, and the stringy hair extensions coupled with zero neckline makes her look like she is wearing a wig from Party City. Just a head plopped onto a square body built like a brick shithouse on two chopsticks for legs.
I’m crying laughing- I mean, I just CAN’T. I would literally give my left tit to be the courtier bring HM the papers with this thing on the cover; a jacket nipping at the armpits because it is too small to be closed, the polyester dress halfway up her naked thighs with the purple bruise on display, the wet slingbacks worn in January rain, the large empty purse with the gold grill swinging about topped off by the fake fur hair. Picture the sound in the drawing room: the crumple of the newspaper being opened, the dead silence, and then the sound of a teaspoon dropping against a china saucer. And then oceans more of dead silence. The courtiers would be around the corner, shaking with silent laughter.
Ohhhhhh fuck me. Like I said, I just CAN’T.

Ugh the dress just should have been strapless 🙁
Tumblr media
This one, right?
Um, to be completely honest, I’m not sure if strapless would have been enough to save this one… she’s glowing, and beautiful as always, but this dress is in my top 5 worst looks ever.  I legitimately like the one she wore to Celia McCorquodale’s wedding more, and that’s saying something.  Strapless would have helped but it def wouldn’t have salvaged the look completely imo lol
