CRASH
Storm calls to be picked up and conversations are had taglist:@skylordgrey
The high shrill sound of Moose's ringtone filled the room. It nearly midnight. Someone was calling him. It was nearly Midnight and someone was calling him. Moose blindly reached for his phone.
"Captain Wilson speaking." He groaned.
"Your Last name is Wilson?"
Moose sat bolt right up. "Storm! It's nearly Midnight, kid. Did something happen?"
They chuckled. It sounded nervous. “No, nothing happened. Though you will probably need to come pick me up.”
Moose pushed the blankets down and grabbed his boots. “Come pick you up? Storm, where exactly are you?”
They hummed as they seemed to think about their answer. “Uh, about two three miles from base? I was following the train tracks to clear my head and maybe lost track of time.”
Moose sighed. “Kid it is literally,” He glanced at the little clock in his room, “Twelve o’ two. Storm it is literally just after Midnight! How long have you been out there?”
A slight hum and shift of fabric against the phone speaker. “I don’t know. My last Clear memory is from around Eight or nine. Everything after that gets a little floaty and Fuzzy.”
Moose pinched the bridge of his nose. “Are you telling me, you had a dissociative episode and Don't know where you are?”
The sound of snapping fingers met his ears. “Yeah! I think that’s what happened.”
Moose breathed deep. “Okay, okay. Here’s what we’re going to do. You are going to start walking towards base and I’m going to meet you halfway. Then we are going to have a talk. Am I clear, Corporal?”
A moment and then they spoke. “Sir. Yes, Sir.”
Moose hung up and finished pulling his boots on before swiping his keys off the bedside table.
The parking lot was fucking cold. Moose shivered as he tugged open his truck and climbed into the cab.
“Fuck! Kid ya picked a good day to do this shit.” He turned the key in the ignition and the truck roared to life under him. He gunned it out of the little parking lot and right for the nearby rail yard. It was an end of line stop, so Storm would have had only one direction to walk in.
Moose muttered and cursed as he turned down the rail yards service road. An old cracked up road that was more potholes than actual asphalt. He drove slow and careful til he saw a distant figure walking through the mist. Fuck, if that ain't storm, he’s gonna bite his damn tongue. He pulled to a stop and rolled down the window, sticking his head out.
“STORM!” He hollered. He watched the figures head snap up before they began to jog towards him. He waited for them to get to the truck before popping the passenger door open. He got a good look at them as they scrambled into the passenger seat and buckled up. They looked tired. They didn’t meet his eyes as they settled into the seat. He took a deep breath.
“Storm.” They sluggishly raised their head to look at him. He took a moment to gather his thoughts.“Do you want to talk about it?”
Storm snorted. “Can we just go back to base, sir?” They sound just absolutely done with the day.
The drive back to base was quiet and warm. You were curled in the passenger seat, soaking up heat like a lazy cat. The radio was playing softly in the background, some country station.
Moose huffed for the umpteenth time as the truck rode over another pot hole.
You quietly hummed as you gathered your thoughts. “You know, I regret it sometimes.”
Moose didn’t look up from the road, “Regret what, kid?”
You leaned your head against the window, ignoring the buzzing in your head. “Leaving the 141.”
Moose hummed, “Why do you regret it?”
You blinked, trying to think. “I guess,” you stop trying to gather words. “I think I miss the action of it all.”
Moose cursed as the truck bumped another pothole. “The action of it all?”
You side eyed moose for a second. “The best of the best in the captain’s eyes, and sure we had support on some things but at the end of the day. It came down to the wire, ya know. At some point it always became a rush to survive and get the job done. And now, well now a days, it doesn’t feel like that anymore. Don’t get me wrong, Captain O’Neil and the rest of safe house six are wonderful and working with Taskforce Dante is helping but. But it doesn’t feel the same. I keep going round to the idea of maybe calling one of them but I know that I very likely burned that bridge when I left.”
Moose hummed as he drove the truck into the little parking lot near the Taskforce barracks. “Why did you leave in the first place? If you don’t mind me asking.”
You took a deep breath. “After the whole being kidnapped, tortured, and buried alive thing on Solomon’s island, I felt like that I was no longer a good fit for 141 operations. I didn’t know if I could handle the work they do with all the fresh trauma. So i spoke it over with Price and decided the best bet was to take a step back. I don’t think I even told anyone I was leaving outside of Price. Didn’t want to deal with all the well wishes when I could barely keep up with them anymore.”
Moose clicked his tongue, “We’ll circle round back to the first part of all that later. But right now, my advice is if you keep feeling like this, maybe reach out to them? Concerning statements aside, it sounds like you were really close and are now missing them.”
You shrugged as you unbuckled your seatbelt and slowly uncurled and stretched. “Maybe. Maybe. Thanks for this, moose. It it means a lot.”
Moose just chuckled as he switched the truck off, “No problem, kid.”
Gaz hummed as his phone flashed with an incoming call. He barely glanced at the number before swiping his thumb over the screen to answer the call. "Garrick speaking."
"Uh Hello Kyle." Gaz froze. it had been months since he had heard that voice.
"Avery?" Gaz wanted to ask a millions question. Where've you been? What you've done? Why did you leave?" That last question left a bitter taste in his mouth.
A light nervous laugh, so familiar and yet so damning. "Yeah, yeah it's me gas man." Gaz felt himself choke as a flash of anger curled in his gut. He drew in a sharp breath and decided maybe it'd best if he ripped the the band aid off quickly.
"Why did you leave us, Avery?" Gaz heard you suck in a sharp and quick breathe before releasing it in a sigh. He knew his tone was possibly sharper than he meant but the anger burning the back of his throat didn't care.
"Because I Couldn't handle it. Because after everything that happened on that cursed island, I felt like failure because I couldn't keep up and didn't immediately bounce back. Because I didn't know if I could handle Being the best of the best anymore." Gaz felt the anger rise in his throat before suddenly going out. He huffed a breath as he processed your words.
"You left without a word, Avery. Without a hug, or even so much as a basic explanation of why. We were worried. We've been worried. But it's good to hear your voice again. What have you been doing?" Gaz hummed as he slowly calmed down. Bitter anger shifting to steady calm as you spoke.
"I uh joined with a PMC, to uhm complete my medical training and that offered that I would be less on the front end of fights. Got demoted down to a corporal in their rank system, because Their sergeants have much more requirements. I uh made some friends, maybe you've heard of them? They're a group called Taskforce Dante. The PMC mostly works as support for various Taskforces. My squad uh specializes in evac and emergency medical response. Yes, we are a glorified ambulance crew, you can stop laughing now." Gaz's shoulder shook as he tried to swallow his laughter. To think you went from one of the best infiltration specialists to an ambulance crew member was certainly an interesting change.
The conversation continued after Gaz gained control his laughter. Both of you content to catch each other up. But all too soon, Gaz had to return to his duties.
"Hey, Avery."
"Yeah, Gaz man?"
"You mind if I tell the others you called?"
"I dont mind, Kyle. See ya soon mate."

Siblings
@divoha4
The last sounds of gurgling and growling died off as the duo killed the undead that surrounded them.
“Ugh. You never get used to the smell…” ”Uhm…Storm…?”
Storm looked over at Ferret, who looked suddenly pale and meek.
“Ferret? What is it?”
Ferret shakily showed their wrist. On their wrist, a clear as day bite, dripping with blood.
Storm didn’t hesitate. They took their clean knife out, and cut the wrist clean off, prompting a screech of pain from Ferret.
Storm apologised repeatedly as the wrapped the arm in a tourniquet and scraps of gauze.
“It hurts!” Ferret squeaked.
“I know. I’m sorry!” Storm repeated a few more times before taping up the gauze.
“Here.” Storm handed Ferret a small bottle of vodka, which the duo had grabbed from a downed plane. Ferret took it and chugged it instantly.
When Ferret discarded the bottle, they noticed Storm acting off. Their shoulder was in an upwards position, their neck slightly tilted to that side.
“Storm? Is something wrong…?” Ferret said in a shaky voice.
Storm hesitated. They let out a long breath before relaxing their shoulder, and moving their neck into an upright position. A deep bite was on their neck, like an undead had tried their best to rip the chunk out.
“S-Storm?”
“I don’t think anyone can cut this off…” Storm sighed, sitting on the ground.
“M-Maybe we could cut around it?” Ferret stammered, but Storm shook their head.
“Already in my blood stream, Fer. I’m done.”
“No! We told Moose we’d make it back safe!” Ferret protested, shaking Storms shoulders.
“And I told him I’d keep you safe.” Storm replied.
Ferret’s shoulders slumped, their eyes filled with Grief and despair. “W-What do we do…?”
“I’m going to get you as close to home as I can. I wanna see familiar places before, well…yeah.”
Ferret let out a whimper, which prompted Storm to tightly hug them.
Hey. You’re gonna need a hand getting home anyway.”
“Not the puns…” Ferret whimpered.
“Could always say I’m armed.” Storm snickered.
The walk back was slow for them both, due to Storms bite, and Ferrets missing arm, which sometimes sent shocks of pain through them.
“How’s it feeling…?” Storm ask raspily. They had steadily grown weaker during the walk.
“Hurts sometimes.” Ferret admitted “Healing is probably going to be a bitch…”
They then took a breath. “What about you?”
Storm hesitated. “My necks gone a bit numb. Kinda like when a limb falls asleep? But I can feel it pulsing, like a heartbeat. I won’t lie, it’s an interesting experience.” ”That’s…one way to put it…” Ferret mumbled.
Suddenly, Storm stumbled, and Ferret immediately put out their good arm to catch them.
“If you need to take a break…”
“No. We keep going.” Storm insisted.
Ferret lowered their gaze and nodded.
They walked for another two hours, before eventually, Storm fell, and struggled to get back up. Ferret helped them up, and guided them to a tree, that had all of its leaves still despite the coming winter.
“Man, I did not think I was gonna go out like this…” Storm croaked as they were set down against the tree trunk.
“W-What do I do…?” Ferret asked with a small whimper.
Storm nodded to Ferrets gun.
“W-What?! I-I can’t!” Ferret fretted.
“You have to. I ain’t walking around with those things, causing issues. I prefer doing that when I’m alive.”
“You’re my sibling. I can’t…” Ferret’s voice cracked.
“You have to because you’re my sibling, Jo.” Storm replied quietly.
“What am I going to tell Moose? Bes even?” Ferret asked quietly.
“The truth. That my luck ran out, and you gave me the easy way out. Beats all the Lumi crap, I won’t lie.”
Ferret whimpered, and gave Storm a tight hug, hesitant to let go.
“I-I’m going to miss you…” Ferret whispered pitifully.
“Yeah, I’ll miss you too, Ferret.” Storm responded softly.
Ferret withdrew from the hug after a few minutes, and only now noticed just how exhausted Storm looked. They looked pale, dark marks under their eyes.
“Just…make it quick, yeah? Seen too many people miss during their killing blow. Not fun.”
Ferret took out their pistol and took a shaky breath.
Storm gave them a weak smile. “Tell them I wasn’t scared. Not one bit.”
“I will” Ferret whimpered. They aimed the gun and looked away.
A shot fired, and then silence.
“You sure Soap and Ghost would want to go to the warehouse? It’s full of rats, and Soap squealed like a little girl.”
“Moose, you and I both know they’re the quickest we have right now for the Warehouse run.”
Moose sighed, and looked around. “Those two kids should be back by now.. Where’d you send them anyway, Bes?”
Bes hummed for a moment. “Hardware store. We needed some supplies for the walls.”
Moose grunted and looked back at the map, before they heard a familiar screech of the gate opening.
“Must be them.” Bes smiled before turning around. His smile faltered.
Ferret stumbled to them, their head hanging low. In their remaining hand, was what looked to be a collar, part of it frayed and stained darker.
Moose turned, and his eyes widened. “Jo!”
He ran to Ferret, who was trembling like a leaf in the wind.
“Where’s Storm?!” Bes demanded.
Ferret could barely meet their gaze. When they finally lifted their head, there were tears in Ferret’s eyes. Shakily, they gave Bes the collar.
“They…” Ferret croaked.
Bes saw the blood, the frayed fabric on the collar, and his heart sunk.
Moose saw the collar, and his eyes widened.
All Bes could ask is “How…?”
Ferret let out a whimper, unable to answer.
Moose knelt down and tightly hugged Ferret, who let out one last whimper before sobbing into the older mans shoulder. “I’m sorry!” Ferret wailed.
Bes watched the two. He noticed Ferret’s stumped arm, and slowly began to piece it together.
“They saved you?”
Ferret meekly nodded. They forced themself to look up at Bes, and saw no anger. Only grief.
They were one member down, and that member, was family.

What made you pick the names for your top 5?
Moose - His original name is Daniel Wilson. Honestly? I just looked at a name generator, and that one came up, and it rolled off the tongue for me easily. Moose is another story, based on how he's built, and his personality (stubborn as a moose).
Liio: Leo but fancy. (Totally not an Asheleigh).
Carter: Watched that shitty Disney Alien Mars movie and I just liked the name Carter.
Sage: She's a witch. Witches use sage. Her real name is Wilma Eveski. I put more thought into her name. Wilma: Resolute Protector. Eveski was a mix-up between Evening Sky!
Morbius: His name literally means Sickness. He's a Team Fortress 2 Medic. I like having funny names in funny hat simulator. He was not named after Vampire Morbius.

WEEK 1 - Wrap Up
HANG IN THERE!!!!
Guys, welcome to week 1 of the 2023 season! It's going to be a great year...I can feel it! Just like the video above..we are going to spend the next 14 weeks finding out who can hang on and make it to the playoffs and then...survive all the way to the championship game. I know some of you take fantasy football more serious than others. Personally, I feel those that don't spend at least 6 hours a week on fantasy strategy and team maintenance don't deserve a place in the final 3 weeks but that's not up to me. If it were up to me I would dedicate my entire week 24/7 to this shit. But, I have bills to pay and responsibilities, so I have to limit it to 20-24 hours a week. Anyway, good luck to everyone...I'm so glad we are back!
BACKDOOR BANDITS vs LONG LEFT BALLERS
Tumblr media
Pretty sure on this one Kyle was hoping for more than 6.56 points out of his QB, Lamar Jackson...but he also probably didn't count on Nick Folk (Bebo's Titan Kicker) throwing up 18. Whatever the expectations were - this was the first match up of the year to end on Sunday and Bebo took the win 86 to 77. Knowing Kyle he will say his internet connection was funky and he meant to put Derek Carr in for Lamar and blame the whole loss on me...but no matter what is said or not said - Bebo get's the W and Kyle get's the L. Nice win Bebo...1-0 has to feel pretty good for a guy who still owes his fantasy fees.
HOWARD vs FUNK GUY
Tumblr media
(this paragraph was written before the ending)
Ummm...Funk Guy beat Howard. Also, Funk Guy only had 62.90 points. WHAAAAAT? Things that contributed to Dana's win and Howard's loss? Well for Howard it was Joe Burrow with 3.18 points, Dallas Goedert with ZERO, Chase with 4.10 and Swift with .30. Pretty rough first week. For Dana, the Jacksonville Jaguars putting up 15 and Jalen Hurts squeaking out 14.50 was enough for him to put together a winning week. Congrats Dana. It's always good to beat a 3 time champion to start out the season.
(this is the correct ending)
Howard Wins. Jets defense...did it all. Sorry Dana!
LANAKILA vs TuPADRE
Tumblr media
In the first game for the new Gullahorn "father/son" collaboration era - Lanakila said "No. Two is not better than 1 returning champion". Going into the night - Cliff was finished and had 103.44. The Gullahorns had 89.56 and Kicker Tyler Bass still to play...so they needed 14 from their kicker. Why were they in this position? Because Higgins (WR Cincinnati) decided to not get any points because the Bengals played like ass on Sunday and costs the commissioner $25 on fanduel. But, nonetheless - on Monday night - the Gully's did have a chance and came very close...they just came up a wee bit short. Congrats Cliff...could this be a back to back season with the trophy?
MOOSES ON THE LOOSES vs TRADE WITH ME
Tumblr media
Just what everyone wanted to see...the Moose grabbing a win in week 1. Brett, what the hell! We all had such high hopes for you. You had one job - to beat Mitch and you let us all down! Personally, I feel like Mitch is still pissed about not getting his way on the PPR or 1/2 PPR or whatever he was selling and so now he is going to go off and have a 13 game winning streak (losing to Malik my Balls of course). Brett had a rough go of it from Daniel Jones, Renfrow, Waller and Giants Defense...while the Moose killed it with the nicest QB in the league Kirk Cousins, Aaron Jones, Tony Pollard and David Montgomery. Nice win Mitch. Going into MNF you do have high point - and if it hits I will pay out immediately!
BOOMER SOONER vs MR AWESOME
Tumblr media
Well, this one was a bit of a nail biter. Gabe, aka Mr Awesome had his score locked in at 101.52 - no more players to play. Stu Jones only had 65.22 but had Dalvin Cook, Garrett Wilson and Stefon Diggs to play in the MNF match up. So he needed 36.3 from 3 pretty great players. Projections had Stu only putting up 93 points but as it is with MNF anything can happen. As the night went on...it became more and more obvious that without Aaron Rodgers - Wilson and Cook were not going to be able to help Stu enough. But thanks to overtime...Stu pulled it out by less than 1 point! .20 margin...he wins. Sorry Gabe...I guess your autodraft mid draft wasn't the play :)
MALIK MY BALLS vs TREE HUGGERS
Tumblr media
And, yes...i found myself just trying to stay alive in week 1 on Monday Night. With a new name and a new team...I worked so hard to make sure I had the right line up....but in the minutes leading up to the first game - I made a big mistake by changing my line up. I pulled Mostert and put in Deon Jackson (INDY RB) because the "experts" said he was going to be the lone back and get tons of carries. They were right he did get a ton of carries, but he fumbled most of them and ended up with negative points. Going into MNF - Tree Huggers was up 12 points with Bills Defense still to play. I had Josh Allen left and was just hoping that he showed up and had an epic night...but he really didn't. Throwing 3 interceptions and not looking like the dominating Josh Allen of the past...coupled with Aaron Rodgers going down....and the Jets not scoring...the Bills Defense held their points and I just couldn't catch Scott. I lose! It's sucks. But of course I am happy for Scott. Of course I am.
SURVIVOR
Tumblr media
Yep. Everyone moves on but me. I see all the picks...try to make my own picks and not be influenced...and then I always lose. Vikings can suck it. Breen OUT!
CHEERLEADER OF THE WEEK
Tumblr media
First Cheerleader of the year is Melissa from the 49ers. She is a 6 year veteran to the squad...so she knows what the hell she is doing. When she shows up on game day she isn't still trying to learn her routines if you know what I mean. Since the 49ers were so great this week she was the perfect choice for week 1 Cheerleader of the Week. Let's go!

Impressions
Rainbow operator, Jordan “Thermite” Trace, making some observations about the strangers on his base
Taglist: @skylordgrey
“I can’t preach to the darkness without putting up a fight.” Daniel plucked the baseline of the song as Avery filled the melody and Joseph played the points in between. All three voices singing in low harmony.
They were enjoying a bit of downtime after their most recent mission. Staying for a few days on Hereford base in England before returning to their joint base in New York.
“And I don’t expect a savior so I’ve got to be the light!” All three were unaware of the eyes on their back as they sat a little ways outside the training fields.
Jordan didn’t really know what to think of the little group of three currently sitting just in the shadow of the fence separating the training fields from the rest of the base. Apparently they were just making a quick pit stop before heading home.
Daniel “Moose” Wilson seemed to be the one in charge of the ragtag group. At least from what jordan had seen so far. He was the one to pull the other two away from getting themselves into too much trouble. And more than once, Jordan had seen the man literally yank the other two from some of the more dangerous tech on Hereford with a rather sharp, ”Don’t.” Though there was a wild edge to the man too. Jordan had observed the little group sparring one day, and well moose certainly held his own, against the other two at the same time. He had talked to the man a grand total of once so far. The man was polite but certainly to the point. Jordan could certainly appreciate that. The man had left him with a rather neutral impression but Jordan was okay with that.
Joseph “Ferret” Payne and Avery "Storm" Scott were never seen far from each other. Enough so that Jordan had honestly thought it was similar case to Elżbieta and Zofia. The two generally brought chaos along with them where ever they so happened to wander, though a few of the more engineering inclined at Hereford didn't seem to mind them too much. Something about a wrench and a box of scrap. Though some where less inclined to welcome the chaos that the two dragged with them. That's usually when Captain Wilson would get involved. Jordan had witnessed to two spar on numerous occasions. They could constantly be found on the training mats or in the obstacle courses trying to one up each other. They rarely took the offers of others fighting them, though they took the advice pretty decently. Jordan had tried to talk to them on more than one occasion just to get a feel for them, personality wise but was near always met with either polite but strained conversation or complete silence. The two very much left the impression of hiding something but they weren't his operators so he simply let it be.

Moving On - Zombie AU
Chapter 1: The First Few Days
Characters:
Jake "Bes" O'Neil (Owned by Divoha)
Daniel "Moose" Wilson
Monica "Cotton" Garcia-Wilson
After Storm's death, the group has to figure out what to do
Mentions of Death, Suicide and Self Harm
It had been a few days since the incident.
Word had spread quickly, and it was a complete shock to everyone, and it was now a time of grieving.
Ferret, Bes and Moose took it the worst, those close needed time to readjust.
Ferret had to spend most of their time in the infirmary, due to the injury, and the shock in general, barely eating, and staying in bed.
Bes was angry. Angry at himself for sending the two kids in that area. He had spoken to Merc about his feelings, and was assured it was not his fault, though it barely did anything to his grief-stricken state.
Moose, was broken. Fully. He had lost quite a few people he really cared about. Sun, Nicholas, Soot, Lumberjack, and now Storm. Cotton had been keeping a close eye on him, in case he did anything drastic. He was not permitted to have firearms, or sharp objects.
Hurricane, Soap, Ghost, Roach and Cotton were…coping, to say the least. It was too quiet without Storm’s antics. The arguing with them they truly missed. They got together, and made a memorial for them to put with the others. Pictures of them were placed on the board they had, filled with others they had lost to the plague, and things they loved. Below the board, their dinosaur plushie was placed next to a few other items of importance, like the steel axe Lumberjack had, before he passed.
Cotton was doing her usual rounds of check up, usually she had to be reminded by Fen or Merc. She’d write down in a worn down notepad and leave the notes with Merc before moving on to the next set of people. However, she focused on the three people who were still very shook up by Storm’s death. She’d leave Ferret till last, since they’re in the infirmary.
She wandered over to Bes, who was trying to keep himself busy reloading firearms, or sharpening dull blades.
“Bes?” she murmured softly.
Bes looked up. He looked exhausted, sleep had not been kind to him for the past few days.
Cotton winced at his exhaustion. “I need to do a check up. But…in all honesty? You need sleep.”
Bes grunted. “I’ll sleep later.”
“Hurricane can take over what you’re doing. As a medic, I’m telling you to sleep.”
“And if I don’t?” Bes narrowed his eyes.
“I’m sure Merc wouldn’t mind dragging you to get some sleep, O’Neil.”
Bes hesitated, before letting out a sigh.
“Fine. Whatever.” He unceremoniously dropped the knife he was sharpening, and walked off in what Cotton could describe as a rather shit mood.
She wrote in her notebook.
‘Bes is mad. Been a few days. He hasn’t slept. Check up in the evening. Might need to take out the sleep medication rations.'
Next, she had to find Moose. His whereabouts weren’t the same any more, so she had to actually search for him.
Cotton was the most worried about Moose at this current point. She had seen his depression, and it had never gotten to the point where he had actively thought death was a good option. She had made a mental note to check Moose’s wrists, as she knew of his history with harming himself, though she worried that he could be doing it in any other way, especially not taking any food, which she knew he was doing, but it was hard to get him to have any appetite.
She found him sitting under a tree, looking vacant, like he was staring off into space.
Cotton cautiously approached him, as to not scare him, and hurt both herself and him in the progress.
“Dad?” she called softly, but Moose didn’t react.
She sighed, before gently shaking his shoulder, which made him flinch, and return back into the present.
Moose looked at her for a few moments with confusion, before blinking and sighing. “Sorry. Lost in thought.” he rasped.
“It’s alright.” Cotton reassured him, before sitting down beside him. “How are you doing?”
“Fine.”
“I can tell you’re not.”
Moose glanced at her, and sighed, leaning against the tree trunk.
“Okay fine. Truthfully? I feel like this world is just rooting for everyone I know to die, and it’s making it happen in the shittest ways.”
Cotton nodded sympathetically. “It can feel like that when you have depression, dad.”
Moose grunted in response.
“Anything else? Your sleep? Have you been eating? H-” She cut herself off, unsure whether to ask about the self harming stuff.
Moose shrugged. “Haven’t slept. Food just doesn’t appeal to me right now.” Moose subconsciously scratched at his wrists, which Cotton noticed.
She gently placed her hand on his wrist. “Can I have a look?”
Moose hesitated, but slowly nodded.
Cotton rolled his sleeves up and grimaced. The skin on Moose’s wrists was red and inflamed from continuous scratching.
“I’m going to have to bandage this.” she murmured. Moose looked like he wanted to object, but Cotton glared.
“If I don’t you’ll scratch it to the point it bleed, then it’ll get infected.”
She took out some bandages and wrapped Moose’s hands and wrists in it. “This is for your own good, Dad. Storm would have floored your ass if they saw you doing this.”
“Well, they can’t. They’re not here.” Moose said bluntly.
Cotton sighed. “I’m also taking you to the infirmary so I can keep an eye on you.”
“What?! But I-”
“No buts, Daniel!” Cotton retorted. “Truth be told I barely trust you out here! Hell, I barely trust Bes, but he has Merc and Fen, and he actually speaks to them, but with us, you don’t!”
Moose lowered his gaze.
Cotton shook her head “Look. I’m not mad. I’m just trying to figure out how to help. Now come on, you need to sleep. I’ll give you some meds so it’ll keep your energy going for longer.”

The Charge from Lester Jones on Vimeo.
The Charge poetically explores the notion of isolation and containment, and the need for expression that burns within us all.
No matter how far we are pushed there is always a human compulsion to join together and break free, themes that may be more relevant now than ever before.
Shot in Sydney on 16mm film, the project was written in 2019 about the notion of isolation than can affect and see many suffer, but the project has added poignancy in light of the world's events in 2020 which is seeing isolation and containment now affecting us all.

WEEK 3 - Wrap Up
Winning - it’s not a debate!
youtube
Here we are in Week 3 of Fantasy Football, on the eve of the first Presidential debate, in the midst of a global pandemic and there is only 1 thing that you need to know is certain in your world right now...you create your own success and failure in this league.  You either put in the time, do your research and find a way to win, find a way to bounce back or you slowly die a fantasy football death -  as your players get injured and your confidence falls.  Winning is not something that you can talk your way into...you either do it or you lose.  So, don’t sit around this week arguing with yourself.  Get out there, do your homework and put together a winning team that will get you into the playoffs!  Maybe it will even make you the 2020 Champion!
USUCK vs HOWARD
Tumblr media
Many people don’t know this but on January 19, 2013 Rob Howard and I went to our first Justin Bieber concert at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.  It was pretty amazing...lazers and lights, multi-level moving stages and the most incredible LED walls you have ever seen.  I was forever changed that night and I am sure Howard was too.  What does this have to do with Fantasy Football and this weeks match up?  Nothing really.  I am just hoping that the memory of us jamming to Justin Bieber will put a smile on Rob’s face....since he is probably really down and depressed from losing to me and ending his perfect season.  Great week Rob...I didn’t expect it - just like I didn’t expect to well, you know...love Justin so much.
TREE HUGGERS vs BACKDOOR BANDITS
Tumblr media
If you haven’t watched the Netflix series Cobra Kai yet (and you were a fan of the Karate Kid movies)....it’s a must watch.  It picks up with Daniel and Johnny - 30 years later...and explains a lot about the characters backstory you never thought about when you were watching the movies.  The main message of the Cobra Kai karate school is still strike first, strike hard, no mercy and this week - Scott had no Mercy on Kyle. He made a bit of a mistake by playing Cam over Aaron Rodgers but even that wouldn’t have made a difference.  Scott just came out strong  -  his only set back was losing Carson and Reed early to injury.  Great win Scott.  Sorry Kyle rough week for you all around...but I am sure you will find a way to fight back in week 4 when you face Dr. Bebo.
FUNK GUY vs BOOMER SOONER
Tumblr media
I mean -  what the hell is going on?  For real!  I mean it.  Funk Guy called me in week 1 to tell me how bad his team was and now he is acting like he’s just getting lucky -  but this lucky two weeks in a row?  Huge weeks of crazy scoring?  25 from a kicker?  30 from Colts Defense?  22 from Keenan Allen...and oh yeah 48 from Mahomes tonight.  The only question to me going into MNF is will Dana once again knock out TuPadre from the high point money again this week?  Last week Tu Padre put up 144 and lost the $20 to Funk Guy....this week Gully put up 165 and it’s possible he will do it again.  You have to read below to find out if he did!  Great job Dana.  Sorry Stu but no one  would have had a chance against this scenario.  You were as helpless as this kid against this cat.  Dana moves to 2-1 but a very strong 2!
LONG LEFT BALLERS vs LANAKILA
Tumblr media
Bebo said enough is enough this week!  Going into the week 0-2 he was for sure not going to leave without a win...and by the end of the Sunday games he did just that...winning 133 to 109.  Cliff made the mistake of sitting Brees for Minshew which I kind of get based on what Minshew has been putting up in the past few weeks but Brees vs Rodgers...don’t you have to go with that match up?  Don’t you know from the history of teams like this that it’s going to be a highly focused offense match up?  But, it’s another one of those -  it was the wrong call but it didn’t really matter.  Bebo was just ready for him this week. Congrats Bebo!  Nice win...welcome to the 2020 season.
TuPADRE  vs TRADE WITH ME
Tumblr media
I liked this GIF because while I was  searching for OOPS...this came up because of the song “oops I did it again” but it’s like Britney has a glitch.  And if feels like Trade with me has that same thing...a glitch.  I know what the glitch is - he lost CMC.  He’s without his first round, number 1 pick and because of that he is lacking confidence and not thinking with a clear head.  TuPadre on the other hand is doing just fine.  Russell Wilson with a crazy 46 points, Kamara with 36, James Conner with  25 and the Buc Defense with 20 gives you a hell of a lot of points.  Sorry Brett  - but you have to do something about your situation or that first paragraph is going to be your story.  Maybe make some trades?  Maybe get on the waiver wire...not sure but don’t become that guy that pinned his hopes and dreams  to one white guy running back.  Nice win Andy!
MR. AWESOME vs MOOSES ON THE LOOSES
Tumblr media
Gabe is 0-3.  He came a long way this week - putting up 108 points but it wasn’t enough.  The Moose is going to do what everyone else in this league would do...and take advantage of the match up...it’s cruel but it’s also reality.
Gabe continues to improve health wise as well.  If all goes as planned he should be coming home on Tuesday.  Still a long way to go but thanks to all of those that are continue  to keep Gabe and his family in your prayers.
The Moose wins.   I’m sure he is wanting a big write up but I just can’t give that to him.  Why?  Because even after he had already won - he was complaining because another Tight End besides Andrews got a TD.  When I asked him why he needs more points...he already won and wasn’t in the running for high point - he said “for tie breakers and stuff”...greedy little selfish bastard.
SURVIVOR
Tumblr media
Goodbye Kyle.  Kyle picked the Falcons and the Falcons did not win - so he is out.
7 remain- Krippayne, Gabe, Dana, Breen, Rutledge, Howard, Gully.
HIGH POINT WINNER
This weeks High Point Winner is once again Dana Cappillino, putting up a staggering 178.60 points.  Crazy!  As is customary for the weekly picture prize we get to know another athlete - so, I am excited to introduce you to pole vaulting / track & field star Allison Stokke.  In addition to being extremely athletic- Allison is married to professional golfer Ricky Fowler. You can learn more about Allison on her instagram @allisonstokke - tons of talent and very deserving of a feature in this years wrap up.

Manifesto destiny
What do this year's manifestos have to say about data, digital, open government and technology?
While we wouldn't expect them to get into the finer points of digital government and better uses of data in government - not in themselves the most doorstep-friendly of issues - there's a fair amount in there. Online harms, cybersecurity, citizens' digital rights, using data to better understand barriers to diversity (very Race Disparity Audit) and general references to technology across various sectors all make an appearance. There's not that much on open data or open government (beyond an eye-catching Lib Dem promise on a citizens' assembly on algorithms), or much detail on the Conservative promise to improve the use of data, data science and evidence in government (#classicdom). We've got a summary here, the Ada Lovelace Institute have one here, and Peter Wells has a thread on each here.
It's interesting to compare with the 2017 versions. The Conservatives apparently promised some new bodies on the use and ethics of data, and geospatial data - whatever happened to those? - while Labour promised to keep the Land Registry and all its data under public control (repeated this time around) and extend freedom of information to private providers of public services (ditto). No mention of Freedom of Information in the Lib Dem manifesto for the first time in a while.
There'll be some more on manifestos on this week's Inside Briefing podcast. We looked at, or rather listened to,prime ministerial tenure last week.
And in brief:
It was a real pleasure to chair Will from Full Fact, Liz from Digital Action, my old boss Martin from King's and the chair of the Electoral Commission, Sir John Holmes, on whether we can trust our electoral system in an age of rapidly evolving technology. All killer, no filler, as the kids say - well worth a watch or listen.
And if you liked that, you may like some of our other #IFGElection2019 events, including one next week on other aspects of our electoral system.
Another important event: on starting a career in public policy. Thinking about a career in public policy? Never thought about a career in public policy? Want to get started in thinktanks, or still wondering what a thinktank is? Come and have your questions answered on Monday 9 December.
To the Argentine Embassy for the launch of the Bennett Institute's new report on digital government in Argentina since 2015. Excellent discussion, excellent report, excellent empanadas.
No Data Bites next week - we're hoping to get started again in February. But as well as watching all the previous ones back, you can join us for some drinks on Wednesday - get in touch via Twitter if you'd like to join.
RIP Clive James.
It's easy to forget in the midst of the election campaign but it is nearly Christmas. Come and celebrate with my choir, the New Tottenham Singers, on Saturday 14 December.
Have a great weekend
Gavin

NFDA Introduces the 2019 Meet the Mentors Program Participants
Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) is proud to announce the names of the 50 funeral professionals who will attend the association’s Meet the Mentors program, March 10-12 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. Meet the Mentors has been wholly funded by the Funeral Service Foundation since the program’s 2011 inception.
During Meet the Mentors, these 50 funeral professionals who are either age 40 or under or new to the profession (first licensed within the last five years) will have an opportunity to meet, learn from and talk with innovative and successful funeral professionals. It’s also an opportunity to network and form relationships with other new professionals.
The names of the 50 participants were announced during the week of January 21 through a series of video drawings that were shared on the NFDA website and social media sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
About Meet the Mentors
Meet the Mentors attendees will spend time with three of the profession’s most respected funeral professionals: Rosemarie Forsberg, CFSP, owner and operator of Heritage Funeral Home in Nipawin, SK, Canada, and Tisdale Funeral Home in Tisdale, SK, Canada; Mark Krause, president of Krause Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, which has several locations in the Milwaukee, Wis.-area; and Jeff Smith, owner of Smith Family Funeral Home, which has several locations in the Little Rock, Ark.-area.
There is no cost to participate in the Meet the Mentors program itself. The Funeral Service Foundation’s grant provides exclusive, career-transforming access to three mentors and covers attendees’ registration fees, two nights’ lodging and select meals. The 50 individuals selected to attend only pay for their transportation to the program.
Nearly 600 young professionals and emerging leaders have benefited from the Meet the Mentors program, which underscores the Foundation’s mission to support all of funeral service in building meaningful relationships with the families and communities it serves. The program is part of the Foundation ‘45 Awards, which are designed to transform the careers of funeral service professionals through scholarships, awards, resources and mission-focused outreach.
Complete details about the NFDA Meet the Mentors program, including the videos announcing the 2019 Meet the Mentors participants, can be found on the association website, www.nfda.org/mentors.
