Doctor Harold Shipman
Angel of death
Doctor desth
The good doctor
These are just some of the names that people use when referring to doctor Harold Frederick Shipman, the serial killer.
This man murdered over 250 people in cold blood, the came to him to save themselves and he took there life away instead.
I’m Bethany-Anne and this is Truelifecrime.
Enjoy.
Harold Shipman, born 14th January 1948 died 13th January 2004 one day prior to his 58th birthday.
On 31 January 2000, a jury found Shipman guilty of fifteen murders for killing patients under his care. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with the recommendation that he never be released.
The local undertaker noticed that Dr. Shipman's patients seemed to be dying at an unusually high rate, he was concerned enough to approach Shipman about this directly, who reassured him that there was nothing to be concerned about.
Soon after another medical colleague, Dr. Susan Booth also became aware of Doctor Shipmans dirty work and the local coroner's office were alerted, who in turn contacted the police.
An investigation followed, but Shipman was cleared of any wrong doing, as it appeared that his records were in order.
The inquiry failed to contact the General Medical Council, or check criminal records, which would have shown evidence of Shipman's previous record.
Later, a new investigation revealed that Shipman altered the medical records of his patients to corroborate their causes of death.
Shipman had urged families to cremate their relatives in a large number of cases, stressing that no further investigation of their deaths was necessary, even in instances where these relatives had died of causes previously unknown to the families. In situations where they did raise questions, Shipman would provide computerized medical notes that corroborated his cause of death pronouncements.
Arrested and booked.
Following extensive investigations, which included numerous autopsies, the police charged Shipman with 15 individual counts of murder on September 7, 1998, as well as one count of forgery.
Shipman's trial commenced in Preston Crown Court on October 5, 1999. Attempts by his defense council to have Shipman tried in three separate phases, i.e. cases with physical evidence, cases without and the Grundy case (where the forgery differentiated it from other cases), as well as to have damning evidence relating to Shipman's fraudulent accumulation of morphine and other drugs, were thrown out, and the trial proceeded on the 16 charges included in the indictment.
Harold was given 15 life sentences plus 4 years for forgery, meaning this man would never see the light of day again.
And he didn’t, Harold Frederick Shipman committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell not even five years after being sent to prison, he died on January 13th 2004.
Luckily for his victims they won’t be seeing him in the afterlife because I’m pretty sure this good doctor has a one way ticket to hell.
RIP to all his victims; (this list only tells you some of his many many many victims)
