10 Best Meta Quest 2 Fitness Games to Exercise and Workout 2022
Let's get to the Best Meta Quest 2 Fitness Games to Exercise and Workout in 2022. The great thing about Meta Quest 2, and VR in general, is that almost every game you play requires you to move your arms, hands, and feet. So pretty much ANY game you play in VR will cause you to burn more calories than traditional video games or watching TV. Some Meta fitness games are better than others and not all VR exercise games are created equal. We've reviewed many Quest 2 Exercise Games so you can save time and money and keep up with your fitness goals.
Scoring Criteria For VR Meta Quest 2 Fitness Games
As we reviewed these games we focused on a few key differences between them.  If they had all the parts, they got a higher score, if they were missing some, that game's score was decreased. You can go through the criteria and decide which things are more important for your workout. You might not care about things like multiplayer or amount of songs for example. Of course, whichever games get you up and moving are the best VR Fitness Games for you, so you may have to try a few different types out to see what you like. Does it feel like you are working out or a game? Depending on your level of fitness this may be a stronger point for you or a weaker one. We wrote this article from the countless people we see online saying that they played Beat Saber for the first time and were super surprised to see sweat while playing "a game". If you are looking for the hardest workout, We've included the numbers so you can focus on those games. If you are looking for a fun game that can ALSO get you sweating, we gave it more points in this review. A game and "fun-like" are more likely to make you stick with the workout in our opinion. How many classes or songs or levels are included? Working out to the same 5 songs every day is not going to cut it for most people. The more songs or classes, the higher the ranking we gave. DLC is an option? OK, but the more content that is included in the base game we gave the higher score. If there are no classes or songs, how many levels or skill levels are there to play? Does the game have the ability to have custom songs?
Tumblr media
Can you add custom songs to the game? How hard is it to do so? Although most of these games use royalty-free music that you probably don't know, some are quite catchy! But nothing is going to get your heart pumping like your favorite workout song.  More points for custom songs are allowed. Does the game have Multiplayer or Party mode? Although working out solo is fine and fun, being able to invite your Oculus Quest 2 online friends, (or random strangers) or playing against other people in your household with a back-and-forth "party mode" is a great way to keep motivated in your fitness journey.

Other Game issues, or technical problems There were final points taken away for other issues or problems that may have come up.

Tumblr media
Beat Saber is a VR rhythm game where you slash cubes as they float towards you in time to the music. 🏋️ Work out Equal to -  Tennis - 360 - 480 kcal/hr - 12 squats/hr
Tumblr media
✔️ Feels like a Game or a Workout - Game ✔️ Number of Song/Work Outs Included - 36 songs ✔️ Custom Songs - Yes, but has to be illegally modded (Beat saber doesn't allow this and will remind you, you are using a modded version). Difficult for many and multiplayer/ leaderboards won't work anymore. ✔️ Multiplayer Mode - Yes ✔️ Party Mode - Yes Other Issues - N/A Beat Saber is the most popular VR game for a reason. Lots of included songs and fun gameplay. Many feel they need to "get a better workout" from something besides Beat Saber, but it actually ranks pretty high on the calories list, less so on squats. It's too bad it requires modding to play custom songs and that's why on MY list, it's a number 2. Achieving Mental Clarity and Inner Peace: A Guide to Mindful Meditation and Relaxation Techniques
Tumblr media
Introduction: In today's fast-paced and hectic world, finding moments of calm and mental clarity has become a luxury. However, incorporating mindful meditation, relaxation exercises, and breathing techniques into your daily routine can significantly improve your overall well-being. By cultivating a practice that focuses on mental clarity and inner peace, you can reduce stress, enhance concentration, and live a more balanced and fulfilling life. Understanding Mindful Meditation: Mindful meditation is the practice of bringing one's attention to the present moment without judgment. By focusing on the sensations of your body, the rhythm of your breath, and the thoughts passing through your mind, you can enter a state of heightened awareness. This practice allows you to observe your thoughts and emotions without getting entangled in them, promoting mental clarity and a sense of calm. Relaxation Exercises for Body and Mind: 1. Progressive Muscle Relaxation: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) involves systematically tensing and relaxing each muscle group in your body. This technique helps release physical tension and promotes deep relaxation. Start by tensing your feet and then slowly work your way up to your face, consciously relaxing each muscle group as you go. 2. Guided Imagery: Guided imagery involves using your imagination to create a calming mental image. Find a quiet space, close your eyes, and visualize a serene setting such as a beach or a forest. Focus on the details, like the sound of waves and the warmth of the sun. This technique can transport your mind to a state of relaxation and mental clarity. Breathing Techniques for Stress Reduction: 1. Diaphragmatic Breathing: Diaphragmatic breathing is a technique that focuses on deep, slow breaths that originate from your diaphragm. By taking slow breaths in through your nose and exhaling through your mouth, you activate the body's relaxation response. Practice this technique regularly to reduce stress and promote mental clarity. 2. Box Breathing: Box breathing is a simple yet effective technique that involves inhaling, holding the breath, exhaling, and holding the breath again for equal counts. Picture a box in your mind and follow the four sides as you breathe in, hold, breathe out, and hold again. Repeat this pattern for several minutes to calm your mind and achieve mental clarity. Benefits of Mindful Meditation and Relaxation Techniques: 1. Stress Reduction: Regular practice of mindful meditation and relaxation techniques triggers the body's relaxation response, reducing stress levels and promoting a sense of calm. 2. Improved Focus and Concentration: By training your mind to focus on the present moment, you can enhance your ability to concentrate and avoid distractions. 3. Emotional Well-being: Mindful meditation cultivates emotional resilience and allows you to observe and manage your emotions in a non-judgmental way, leading to improved well-being. 4. Increased Self-Awareness: By dedicating time to mindful practices, you develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, reactions, and patterns, enabling personal growth and positive change. Conclusion: Incorporating mindful meditation, relaxation exercises, and breathing techniques into your daily routine can have a transformative effect on your overall well-being. Take the time to prioritize mental clarity, inner peace, and self-care. By making these practices a consistent part of your life, you will open the door to a more balanced, focused, and fulfilling existence. 1. Mindfulness meditation 2. Relaxation exercises 3. Breathing techniques 4. Mental clarity and inner peac Elevate your fitness game with Puravive's Advanced Fitness Tracker. How to Beat the Winter Blues - The Ultimate Guide
Tumblr media
How to Beat the Winter Blues - Introduction
The “winter blues” is a common experience many people have during the colder, darker months of the year. Officially called seasonal affective disorder (SAD), it is a type of depression that comes and goes with the seasons. Read on to to find out 'how to beat the winter blues'.
How to beat the winter blues - the symptoms
The most common symptoms of winter blues and SAD include: - Fatigue and low energy - Increased appetite and weight gain - Difficulty concentrating - Withdrawal from social activities - Increased desire to sleep/daytime sleepiness - Hopelessness or sadness These symptoms are usually most prominent during the late fall and winter months when there is less sunlight. This is because daylight savings time ends in the autumn, resulting in earlier sunsets and less exposure to natural daylight. Symptoms tend to appear in late September or October and continue through the winter, with January and February often being the most difficult months for those affected. Then as spring approaches and daylight increases in March, most people find their moods and energy improve. https://wellbeinginyouroffice.com/winter-wellbeing-how-to-keep-your-employees-well-this-winter/ Winter Wellbeing: How to Keep your Employees Well this Winter
Get More Sunlight
Sunlight is crucial for regulating our circadian rhythm and serotonin production, which is why the lack of sunlight in winter can negatively impact mood. Studies show that sunlight therapy can be as effective as antidepressants in treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD). If you don't get much sun exposure, consider using a sunlight therapy lamp at home or work for 30 minutes or more per day. Position the light box 1-2 feet away at a 45° angle from your face and keep your eyes open, but don't look directly at the light. This can boost mood and energy levels. It's also important to get outdoors during daylight as much as possible, even in winter. Go for a walk during your lunch break, move your workouts outside, or enjoy sunnier days in a park. Even on cloudier days, being outside provides mood benefits. Wear layers so you stay warm and cozy. Plan winter outings and activities on sunny days to motivate you to get outside, like hiking, snowshoeing, or visiting a sculpture garden. If you take vacations, go somewhere sunny. Open your curtains as soon as you wake up to get natural light inside. Sit near windows while working and turn lights off to maximise sunlight.
Exercise Regularly
Getting regular exercise is one of the best ways to boost your mood and beat the winter blues. Exercise releases endorphins, which are hormones that elevate mood. It also reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol. There are many great indoor exercises you can do during the winter to reap these mental health benefits: - Yoga - The combination of breathing, meditation, and gentle movement is excellent for reducing stress. - Dance workouts - Dancing is a fun way to get moving even when stuck inside. Crank up some upbeat music and boogie down! Zumba and hip hop dance videos are great options. - Strength training - Bodyweight exercises like pushups, squats, and planks can be done anywhere without equipment. You can find effective strength training routines to follow online. - Indoor cycling - Using a stationary exercise bike is low-impact but gets your heart rate up. Pedaling while watching television can help you fit in more activity time. Don't let winter weather prevent you from exercising outdoors either. With the right cold weather gear, you can stay active outside: - Walking and jogging - Bundle up in insulating layers and get your steps in. Spikes or winter shoes provide traction on slippery surfaces. - Sledding and building snowmen - Playing in the snow doubles as a workout for kids and adults! Make a friendly competition out of snowman building. - Ice skating - Glide around a rink for wintry fun. It exercises your core and improves balance. Regular exercise provides so many benefits for both your physical and mental health. Make it a priority, even during the coldest months! https://wellbeinginyouroffice.com/benefits-of-being-in-nature/ Benefits of Being in Nature: how spending time outdoors can transform your life
Eat Mood-Boosting Foods
What we eat can have a big impact on our mood and energy levels. During the winter, it's important to eat foods that provide the vitamins and minerals our bodies need. Some key nutrients for beating the winter blues include: Vitamin D - Often called the "sunshine vitamin," vitamin D is produced by our skin when exposed to sunlight. Fatty fish like salmon are excellent sources of vitamin D. Other options include fortified milk, yogurt, and cereal. Omega-3 fatty acids - Found in fatty fish, walnuts, chia seeds, and flax seeds. Omega-3s are linked to improved mood and brain health. Magnesium - Found in leafy greens, nuts, seeds, beans, avocados. Magnesium is involved in neurotransmitter production and mood regulation. Vitamin B6 - Turkey, tuna, and bananas are good sources. Vitamin B6 helps produce feel-good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. Folate - Lentils, spinach, asparagus. Folate deficiency has been linked to depression. https://wellbeinginyouroffice.com/best-foods-for-mental-health/ Best foods for mental health: how to boost your mood with food. Warming Winter Meals In the winter, soups, stews, and casseroles can provide comfort and nourishment. Try making some of these recipes: - Vegetable Lentil Stew - Hearty and protein-packed with lentils, carrots, celery, and tomatoes. Serve with whole grain bread. - Baked Salmon with Asparagus - Easy to make with mood-boosting salmon and veggie sides. - Butternut Squash Soup -Blend up vitamin-rich butternut squash with onions, garlic, and spices for a creamy, comforting soup. - Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili - Warm up with fiber, antioxidants, protein, and a kick of spice. Top with avocado. Eating more home-cooked meals with plenty of vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains will provide your body and brain with the nutrients they need to beat the winter blues. Focus on warm, satisfying meals that bring comfort and joy to the dark winter months.
How to beat the winter blues - Try Light Therapy
Light therapy, also known as phototherapy, can be an effective way to treat winter blues. It involves sitting near a special lamp that emits bright light to mimic natural sunlight. The light helps adjust your circadian rhythm and increase serotonin levels to boost mood. Here's how light therapy works - special lamps used for light therapy provide light about 20 times brighter than typical indoor lighting. You sit about 2 feet away from the lamp for around 30 minutes daily. Light enters through your eye and signals your hypothalamus gland, which regulates the body clock and mood. This helps re-set your biological clock and provide an energising effect. When choosing a light therapy lamp, look for one that provides 10,000 lux of light. To use light therapy most effectively: - Use it early in the morning to get light exposure right after waking up - Sit 2-3 feet from the light and angle it towards your face/eyes without staring directly at it - Bask in the light for 30-45 minutes at a consistent time daily - Consider combining light therapy with daily exercise or meditation for added benefit - Track your mood to see when you get the most benefit from using the light - Stop using if you experience eye strain, headaches or other side effects Daily light therapy during the darker winter months can be an easy, convenient way to help overcome seasonal affective disorder and improve your mood. Consider giving it a try this winter!
How to beat the winter blues - Reduce Stress
The winter months can be more stressful for many people. Shorter days limit sunlight exposure, bad weather makes it harder to get outside, the holidays add obligations, and isolation increases for those prone to seasonal depression. This extra stress takes a toll both mentally and physically. Research shows a strong connection between high stress levels and feeling depressed or anxious. Stress hormones like cortisol signal the brain to be alert and on guard, making it harder to feel calm and relaxed. High cortisol also impacts serotonin and other neurotransmitters that regulate mood. Managing stress should be a priority during the winter to help overcome the blues. Here are some tips: - Make time for relaxation each day through meditation, yoga, deep breathing, soothing music, etc. Even 10-15 minutes can lower stress. - Stay organised and don't overschedule yourself. Evaluate obligations and say no to things that aren't necessary. - Get adequate sleep, which is essential for controlling stress and regulating mood. - Talk to close friends or a counselor. Social support reduces loneliness and releases oxytocin to counter cortisol. - Avoid alcohol which can worsen depression. Limit caffeine which boosts cortisol. - Try stress-busting supplements like magnesium, vitamin C, omega-3s and adaptogens. Relaxing winter activities can also lower tension and recharge your mind and body: - Take hot baths and saunas to promote relaxation. - Spend time crafting or doing creative hobbies like painting, knitting or DIY projects. - Listen to soothing music, audiobooks or podcasts while cozy indoors. - Cook or bake comfort foods using mood-boosting ingredients. - Curl up under a blanket with hot cocoa and watch a funny movie. - Get a massage or facial to pamper yourself. Making stress management a priority can help prevent the winter blues from getting worse. Relaxation, self-care activities, socialising and smart scheduling will counter the extra tensions the winter months can bring. https://wellbeinginyouroffice.com/10-ways-to-reduce-stress-at-work/ 10 Ways to Reduce Stress at Work
How to beat the winter blues - Socialise Regularly
Social interaction is vital for mental health and wellbeing. Humans are social creatures by nature, so maintaining social connections can help lift your mood during the winter months. When daylight hours grow shorter in winter, it's common for people to isolate themselves more. But research shows that spending time with others releases 'feel good' hormones like oxytocin and serotonin. Laughing together also boosts endorphins. Plan safe ways to get together with friends and family. Even a phone or video call can make a difference. Schedule small gatherings, go for walks outdoors, meet up for coffee or a meal, take a virtual cooking class together, play online games, or watch a movie while chatting remotely. Look for winter-friendly activities in your community too. Check local event listings for indoor concerts, classes, lectures, or other special interest meetups. Sign up as a volunteer to contribute your time and connect with others. If you're still struggling with feeling down or depressed, consider joining a support group. Talking with others facing similar challenges can help you feel less alone. Ask your doctor about therapy or counseling options as well. Having an empathetic professional to talk to regularly may be what you need to lift your spirits. The key is to intentionally make social plans, even when it's cold outside. Staying connected through the winter will boost your energy and outlook all season long.
Add Color
The colors you surround yourself with can have a significant impact on your mood. Cooler, paler colors like blue and gray can mimic the effect of winter and exacerbate feelings of sadness. Warmer, brighter colors like yellow, orange, and red can create a feeling of cheerfulness and energy. Studies show that color directly impacts our emotions and physiology. For example, blue is known to have a calming effect, while red can evoke feelings of excitement and stimulation. When you're feeling down, opt for warm colors in your decor, clothing, and even food to give yourself an emotional boost. Decor - Replace cool-toned bedding and throws with warm oranges, reds, and yellows. Add colorful accent pillows and blankets to your bed and sofa. - Switch out any dreary gray or blue artwork for brighter, more vibrant pieces. Choose uplifting nature scenes or abstract art in warm tones. - Add pops of color with fresh flowers, houseplants, candles, books, and decorative objects. Group them together for maximum visual impact. - Use colorful lamps or string lights to add a cozy glow to any room. Clothing - Fill your closet and dresser with colorful clothing in warm hues that spark joy when you wear them. - Accessorise with bright scarves, jewelry, shoes, or hats. They don't have to match - the more color combinations the better! - Make sure you have at least a few uplifting, colorful options to choose from each morning. Food - Incorporate colorful fruits and veggies into your meals and snacks. Bright red tomatoes, orange peppers, yellow squash, and dark leafy greens are all great options. - Make colorful smoothies with fruits like mango, berries, pineapple, and kiwi. - Try whipping up warm beverages like turmeric tea, beetroot or carrot juice, or matcha lattes. Vibrant colors can be as mood-boosting as the nutrients. - Play around with herbs, spices, and condiments like saffron, paprika, curry powder, and sriracha to add pops of color to your cooking. Bringing vibrant colors into your environment is an easy way to boost your mood naturally during the winter. Surround yourself with warm hues that call to mind sunshine and blue skies ahead.
How to beat the winter blues - Try Supplements
Certain supplements can help boost mood and energy levels during the winter. Here are some to consider: Vitamin D - Also known as the "sunshine vitamin," vitamin D levels tend to be lower in the winter when there's less sun exposure. Taking a supplement containing anywhere from 800 IU to 4,000 IU per day may lift your mood. Vitamin D helps regulate serotonin, the "feel good" hormone in your brain. Magnesium - Many people are magnesium deficient, which can contribute to fatigue and low mood. Get your levels tested and supplement accordingly with around 400 mg of magnesium glycinate or citrate per day. Magnesium helps calm the nervous system. Omega-3 fatty acids - Found in fish oil, omega-3s have anti-inflammatory effects that can improve mood. Take 1,000 mg daily. Cod liver oil is another good source of natural vitamin D and omega-3s. Vitamin B complex - The B vitamins play important roles in energy metabolism and brain health. A vitamin B complex supplement can provide a boost. 5-HTP - 5-HTP is converted in the body to serotonin. A dose of 50-100 mg per day may boost mood. Do not combine it with antidepressants without medical guidance. L-theanine - An amino acid found in green tea, L-theanine promotes relaxation and anti-anxiety effects. Take 100-200 mg daily for mood enhancement. Melatonin - While melatonin is great for promoting sleep, avoid excessive daytime use. Only take up to 0.5 mg in the morning if recommended by your doctor to help reset your circadian rhythms. High doses can backfire and make you more tired during the day. When supplementing, always follow dosage recommendations and consult your healthcare provider about potential interactions and side effects. While supplements can give your mood a boost, they work best alongside lifestyle changes like light therapy, exercise, stress management and a healthy diet. How to beat the winter blues - When to Seek Help
If your winter blues become persistent and start to interfere with your daily life, it's important to talk to your doctor. Here are some signs that you may need help beyond self-care techniques: - You feel depressed, hopeless, or worthless most of the time - Your sleep and appetite changes persist for weeks - You've lost interest in normal activities and feel fatigued - Your mood issues continue even with extra sunlight or exercise - Suicidal thoughts or frequent crying spells These could be signs of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a subtype of depression that emerges during the winter. SAD is thought to be triggered by the lack of sunlight in winter disrupting your circadian rhythm and increasing feelings of sadness. If you exhibit signs of SAD, your doctor can provide an official diagnosis and treatment options like light therapy, medications, and psychotherapy. Light therapy has been shown to improve mood, energy, and sleep issues in people with SAD. Don't hesitate to reach out for help if your winter blues become overwhelming. Here are some resources: - Talk to your doctor about symptoms of depression - Find a SAD support group in your area - Call a depression hotline to speak with someone immediately - Search for a therapist that specialises in SAD and seasonal depression - Reach out to friends and family for support during this time With professional help and ongoing self-care, you can overcome SAD and other forms of seasonal depression.

1/15/23 - Week In Review
#JakeReviewsItch Week In Review Archives
This week’s reviews: 🧡🤍🤍🤍🤍 6 pack of craft games 🧡🧡🤍🤍🤍 8 Bit Space (ZX Spectrum Inspired Platformer) 🧡🧡🧡🤍🤍 9 Till Void 🧡🧡🤍🤍🤍 10 Flights of Ballooning 🧡🧡🤍🤍🤍 10 in 1 game-a-week bundle! 🧡🧡🤍🤍🤍 10mg: Sealed Estate 🧡🧡🧡🧡🤍 10mg: SNAAAK
Game of the Week
I spent most of the week feeling confident that 9 Till Void wouldn't be topped, and then this sneaky little fellow wriggled into my heart.
Tumblr media
It's only been a day since I wrote about 10mg: SNAAAK, and my thoughts haven't changed. As a short experience—a proof of concept—it's magnificent. What I want is for this to be extended to a full game, but if I can't get that, this little taste will do. The current asking price of $1.99 is too steep for me to recommend. There just isn't enough there. It's also in the complete 10mg bundle, but given my other 10mg experience, I wouldn't suggest gambling $10 on that, either. Which brings me to the topic absolutely no one wants to discuss ever again: What's the purpose of review scores? The debates have raged for as long as we've had reviews, and no one has ever emerged with a satisfying answer. I've written a guide to deciphering my scores, and I still struggle every day. 10mg: SNAAAK is something special. I enjoyed it. I think others would enjoy it. It has value. I rated it 4/5. And my advice is, "Don't buy it." Which is why context matters. Money changed hands, but I did not purchase this game with consideration and intent. It showed up in my life, and I ignored it until self-imposed obligation pushed me to give it a fair shake. Would this be a 4/5 if I'd spent months reading previews, studying screenshots and trailers until the day I could finally type in my credit card number and begin the download? Not a chance. Something to keep in mind when you see a gulf between the way critics and audiences respond to media.
When I'm not Itching...
Tumblr media
If I see a Wii game for a dollar, I'm probably going to buy it. If it proudly advertises its compatibility with the Wii Balance Board, I'm definitely going to buy it.
Take a look at the cover of Ubisoft's Gold's Gym Cardio Workout. It's 2009. Wii Fit is past its peak, but still hot. Ubisoft, still a few months away striking gold with Just Dance, is scooping up publishing rights for anything they think could catch the eye of the newly expanded Wii and DS audience. Quality is not a top concern. Look at that cover. Picture the game. Do you see cutesy anime people guiding rhythmic boxing routines?
Tumblr media
Image taken from some YouTube review. (Not an endorsement; I just scrubbed through the video with the sound off until I found a usable image because there aren't any good screenshots of this game and I didn't feel like setting up my capture card.)
Does that format—left and right punching icons coming up from the bottom of the screen in time to music—look familiar?
youtube
I looked up Gold's Gym: Cardio Workout developer, Rocket Company, and wouldn't you know it? They were absorbed by parent company Imagineer in 2016, the very name behind 2018's Fitness Boxing, 2020's Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise, and the upcoming Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star. Imagineer is self-publishing the slightly bonkers-looking Fist of the North Star spinoff, while the first two Fitness Boxing Switch games were published in the Americas by none other than Nintendo and sold for $50 a pop.
youtube
And that's why I'll take a chance on a buck on any Wii game I can find, no batter what it looks like on the cover. The Switch sequels are, I'm sure, the superior pieces of software, but I'm sweating just as much with a couple Wii remotes in my hand. But that's not the real reason I wanted to share this curious bit of video game. No, let me tell you of my greatest discovery. Ubisoft and Rocket Company followed up Gold's Gym: Cardio Workout with Gold's Gym: Dance Workout. The YouTube trailer isn't especially interesting, except for one detail: It was uploaded by the Just Dance channel. Now that Ubisoft was developing the world's most successful dance series in-house, I suspect they didn't feel much need to continue importing rhythm/exercise games from Japan. The Ubisoft/Gold's Gym/Rocket Company partnership ended after just two games. In Japan, however, the シェイプボクシング (Shape Boxing) series got a third entry, which leads us to the greatest video game commercial of all time. Enjoy.
youtube
By the way, Ubisoft is an awful company, responsible for just about every kind of abuse you can imagine, and the rot runs all the way to the top. Yes, good people do good work there. No, that is no excuse for enabling systemic abuse. Buying an old game from a retro game shop? I don't see a problem. Buying new Ubisoft games or making in-game purchases results supports a company that protects predators and thrives on abuse. Despite apologetic PR statements, they have made no meaningful effort to be better. Video games are fun. Human lives are more important.

Isometric Exercises You Can Do At Home
2022 has encouraged us all to think creatively about how we stay in shape, with our large gyms and unlimited equipment being reduced to our living room and the personal gym equipment we own. If you have felt out of sorts with your fitness goals this year but want to arm yourself with some home exercises to keep your blood pumping in the space you have, isometric exercises are going to be the best method.
Isometric exercises, also known as static strength training, allow you to hone in on one muscle group through strong, intentional movement. shop exercise benches au
Isometric exercises can be done in a small environment (and often with limited equipment) as the goal is to hold the pose or exercise and not to lengthen the muscle.
Today we are going to highlight isometric exercises for each core muscle group that you can do from home.
        1.Working the core
Our core is activated at many points throughout the day and supports our other muscle groups when we move, lift and contract correctly. A strong core will always positively influence muscle growth and movement, and a quality resistance band will add some extra heat to any set. Some group core isometric exercises are:
Planking     Dip hold     Mountain climbers     Russain rotations
You only need a yoga mat and resistance bands to complete these core isometric exercises and should feel the burn in your abdominal muscles and obliques. If you have not isolated your core through these movements before, start slowly with less time under tension, or you might need a few days to recover.
     2.Power through the legs
There is a well-known trope that legs day is often skipped, and that is largely due to the heavier weights we allocate to this powerful muscle group. Like the core, setting yourself up for fitness success starts with strong legs. Be sure to break up the resistance with some leg-focused cardio which you can achieve with agility ladders. Some leg isometric exercises are:
Calf raise hold     Wall sit     Squats     Static lunge
Isometric leg exercises are straightforward to achieve at home, but make sure you are wearing supportive footwear, especially as you won’t have the matted flooring that you see in most gyms that adds a layer of protection.
      3.Arm strength
It would help if you were significantly reducing your weights used from the legs as your arms are fatigued more easily, and the muscles are not as big. Contrary to what you may believe, you can get a great arm workout without weights, but if you have plyometric boxes in your home, that will open you up to even more arm exercises and dip depths. Some arm isometric exercises are:
Towel curls (instead of weights)     Triceps dips (from a chair or flat surface)     Wall push     Close chest press
Unlike other muscle groups, our arm muscles strengthen from more reps not necessarily from heavier weights. You are better off to fatigue from reps than to reach a point where the weight is impeding on your form and safety, as this is where you can do serious damage and cause you to have time away from your routine.
      4.Lower and upper back
Isometric back exercises should be in high rotation in your fitness routine, but they do require greater diligence in perfecting form. If possible, try and complete these exercises in front of a mirror so you can ensure a flat back, proud chest and form integrity. Some back isometric exercises are:
Superman     Cat stretches     Leg lifts     Pelvic tilts
Many core and arm exercises also activate the back, so make sure you are working the upper and lower back to achieve an even-strength distribution. When you build a rhythm and start to perfect your form, you can even start to incorporate light hand weights and dumbbells.
 Tracking your isometric performance
When you have incorporated these isometric exercises into your fitness routine, you want to be taking note of when this bodyweight is no longer giving you the appropriate time under tension or when your rep count can increase. Purchasing home gym equipment is going to level up your performance in all muscle groups, and you can be strategic with the equipment you buy so that they cater to all muscle groups.
