Inventor Xam and Saamid who belongs to @eldritchseacrab

After being released from his contract with his former boss, Xam was pretty directionless. He fell in to doing short contract work here and there. It is around this time he met and fell in love with a doctor named Saamid. Saamid was on the run from the Inquest and Xam felt he had the resources to help. Their romantic involvement was a tumultuous affair, punctuated here and there with poignant arguments. But for a time, they loved each other dearly. It wouldn't last, but Xam would treasure the memories they made together for the rest of his life, and his door would always be open to Saamid should he ever need help again.

Rata Cautis - The College of Geomorphics

Dean: Councilor Toppa

The oldest of the functioning colleges of Rata Cautis, Geomorphics was founded not long after the city's founding following the exodus from Quora Sum.

Geomorphics is said to be a continuation of a college that had been present in Quora Sum before the exodus, and as such it focuses on much of the same technology. Exploring uses for the rock and crystal of the new caverns they settled in, and finding creative uses for minerals they came across.

As such, Geomorphics has a huge focus on magnets, as maglev technology is heavily utilized throughout the tunnels and caverns the city inhabits. Many of the more modern advancements available to them have their basis in Geomorphics.

Councilor Toppa is the oldest of the deans of the three Rata Cautisan colleges. She has made some noise recently about retirement, but those that know her well have joked "she'll retire when she's dead." Though she's got a firm hand, she's known to be very fair, and very well liked among the students of the college.

Asura Appreciation Week 2023 Day 1

Talk about one of your asura OCs! Who are they? What's their deal?

I decided to talk about Gliaster (they/them but any is fine) since they're my most developed asura, AND also my player character! (not Commander, just player character)

Here they are in ~1331 AE:

Who are they? Ex-wife of Joko! What's their deal? Love!

Basically, a necromancer obsessed with necromancy who read about Joko in a book in Divinity's Reach and became obsessed with him too. They travelled to Elona to learn necromancy from him but in the process they also fell head over heels for him. Dated, then married for 10 years, Joko's death shook Gliaster to the core, but instead of taking revenge on the Commander and Aurene, they decided to disappear from the face of earth and write books about him to preserve his memory and knowledge. Many years later, books published with great effort, they're now ready to culminate their expertise as a necromancer and become a lich; however, the power overwhelmed and somewhat corrupted them, causing them to ignore all their past ideals. They're now hellbent on getting revenge on not only the Commander and Aurene but the entire world. Lo and behold! The next supervillain in a never-coming future expansion who causes the next cataclysmic event in Tyria. <3

Hello lovelies! I'm hosting another TEd Talk event this Sunday and would be delighted if you'd join us! The location is in Metrica Province near the Rata Sum gate. It is accessible without mounts, but the steps up are easily missed. If need be, we can relocate, but this is the best asuran zone that won't take a trek.

Nobody is required to attend the full duration, give a talk, or even actively RP, but everyone is welcome to! Event rules are under the cut. By attending, you are agreeing to follow these rules, so please give them a read, but it's nothing unusual! It's only 9 bullet points, but it looks long due to tumblr formatting.

Talks can be about theoretically any subject, and you can make it up or outright lie, but avoid triggering subjects (e.g. graphic descriptions of violence or torture). If you aren't sure, you can always ask!

Do NOT use your talk as an excuse to roast, ridicule, or embarrass anyone. If you and another player agree beforehand, throwing academic shade at each other is fine.

No violence. None! No hitting, no stabbing, no pushing each other off of ledges. Exceptions to this rule are friendly slugs/light shoving that wouldn't be misinterpreted as an actual fighting gesture.

Respect The Venue and the host. Destruction of property, extreme disruptive behavior, and active sabotage won't fly.

If someone doesn't want to role-play, don't pressure them to. If someone wants to leave a scene or the event, don't make it awkward for them.

While you are welcome to take screenshots, don't post/upload text screenshots or recordings without the permission of all involved parties. It may seem innocuous, but some people aren't comfortable with it.

If you don't know a player or character's pronouns, don't assume. It is better to ask than to risk hurting someone.

We all make mistakes, but if you intentionally violate these rules, or continue to break them after two warnings, there will be consequences both IC and OoC. 6a. In Character consequences - your character will be escorted out of the event, and their behavior will be recorded* by jade bot, potentially spreading word of their indiscretions. 6b. Out of Character Consequences - Your character may be banned from future events hosted by Sheep. Serious or repeat violations may result in the player being banned from all future events hosted by me.

Lastly, remember that while in-character behavior does not reflect a player's out-of-character beliefs, it is still possible to make people uncomfortable with in-character behavior if lines are crossed, and those lines vary depending on audience, occasion, and location. Since this is a public event in a starter zone, we need to be conscious that our audience extends beyond the squad!

*No actual recordings will be taken by me! This just means that fictional tabloids may now have dirt on the given character. It applies to in-character trouble-making, not out of character actions.

Asura Appreciation Week

(aka i saw ratposting and wanted in)

DAY ONE: Talk about one of your asura OCs! @asura-appreciation-corner

Juggernaut Havokk, my scrapper/raid main/scrunkly lttle jerk

it all starts with him getting kicked out of college for his "unsuitable temperament" i.e. being a confrontational little bastard with unaddressed anger management issues. after a few years of doing menial grunt work and fending off inquest recruiters, he decides he's fed up with asuran society and takes off on his own.

a few years later, he finds himself in ascalon, where he accidentally gets caught up in a clash between a charr warband and some human separatists. inspired by the action and impressed with the charr's formidable ordnance, he decides to make his way to the black citadel and promptly offers himself up to the legions as an engineer.

unsurprisingly, his offer is scorned and he is turned away, but refusing to be overlooked yet again, he stubbornly settles down amongst the gladia and sets to work learning everything he can about weaponry and war machines. despite still living as an outcast, he thrives among the charr, finally passionate about his work, and even starts developing some custom projects of his own.

eventually, his effort earns him the notice of an iron legion tribune, who grants him special clearance to serve on the warfronts as a siege engineer. it's here that he first meets Amara, my main commander, during her early legion days. later on, he'll join her as a member of the pact and fight alongside her all the way from orr to the maguuma, after which he stays with the pact while she goes off to deal with dragon magic. they reunite again during the fall of kralkatorrik, and once more during the charr civil war.

as far as personality, he's generally cranky and abrasive, with a glare that could knock a minotaur flat. if you can get past his prickly shell, you'd find that he's quite witty, surprisingly talkative, and intensely loyal to those who earn it.

The other day I visited the blessed pepper tree. It was an early summer morning where dew laced the kertch leaves like silk on a furless charr. A furless charr so blessed in its glory that I must stop to ponder the water forming in the corner of my eyes. A pair of eyes so blured[sic] from sight that I thought blindness had struck my very being. As I lay down recovering from the shock of the morning's blissful surprise I realized I was nothing more than a squat little freak with bat-like ears and an addiction to day dreaming of magical vehicles with wheels, lights and emblems of Nissan etched on the rear.

did ash agents steal and transcribe someone’s journal? are they just writing asura pov fanfic?? why did this take a hard turn into being an advertisement for a car manufacturer??? why is this in the ash headquarters on a document alongside diagrams of orrian architecture and a sea leviathan?????

my bet’s on fanfic because it seems preoccupied with charr and mentions a tree found only in ascalon. and they say to write what you know, right?

So as I was falling asleep last night, I got unexpectedly emotional about Zojja and I am going to continue that refrain this morning because it's so utterly tragic that we haven't even gotten so much as an update to where she is or her condition.

I do understand that there's probably hesitancy around wanting to replace her VA, as Felicia Day isn't doing as much voice work these days, but the least that could happen is letting us know if she's even alive? All the other members of Destiny's Edge have been rounded, and at the very least Rytlock and Logan are still hanging around with us.

Snaff was mourned in the moment, and grief for him was felt throughout Destiny's Edge's continued involvement in the personal story. Eir was mourned when she fell in Maguuma. Logan and Rytlock continue to persevere.

But Zojja also suffered in Maguuma, and the only word we've gotten is Taimi stating she doesn't know where she is.

Zojja deserves to be mourned for whatever happened. If she died, we need to be allowed to grieve for her like we did Eir. If she's in a coma, or what have you, there needs to be a moment given.

There's been no closure at all for the girl who had her world taken away in a fight she didn't ask for surrounded by people she barely trusted and continued it because as far as she knows and is concerned, continuing that fight is what her mentor would have wanted. Regardless of whether that's actually true.

Even if she doesn't come back because Felicia Day is no longer available, I think we at least deserve to know what happened to her. At this point, she feels like an afterthought.

Trammander prompt got me wanting to draw a cold, angry Alexander seconds before he unleashes a lightning barrage on the poor fellow who decided to dig up old wounds.

I like to think that because Alex usually tries to fix conflict without fighting and usually holds himself back, that people tend to forget that he is in fact, a very dangerous being with enough magic capability to rival a dragon. In fact, he can be terrifying if pushed too far.
