Leegality Raises $5Mn In Series A Round From IIFL Fintech Fund.
Leegality is a Gurugram-based document infrastructure platform which has recently raised $5Mn in its series A round funding with participation from Mumbai Angels. According to the reports, this startup would utilize the funding to increase customer acquisition speed, invest in its product development and improve customer experience as well.
Founded in 2016 by Prakhar Agrawal, Shivam Singla and Sapan Parekh, Leegality is a digital document workflow startup which allows companies to digitize document logistics.
Looking at its previous statistics, since 2020 it has grown its quarterly revenue by over 13x and 7x its employee strength, also being cash flow positive. Mehekka Oberoi, Fund Manager, IIFL Fintech Fund has stated that digitization is a major priority of all major BFSI companies today and Leegality is the first major early-stage investment into a legal-fintech company in India.
The company raised an undisclosed amount in 2019 from Mumbai Angels Network, Chandigarh Angels and other high-net-worth individuals. The scope for the space has increased significantly in the last year, especially with the Reserve Bank Of India’s digital lending guidelines, has been stated by Leegality.
This startup also provides document monitoring, security, and signatory verification and automates the verification process along with client-specific charging. Its individual plans are easy as they just have Aadhar and a digital eSign, while the later plans include additional digital verification processes. Suppose the commercial plan additionally includes DocSigner, HSM Signer and a Pan eSign while the business plan also includes DSC and Automated eSign. Not very surprising, but this comprehensive suite of eSign, eStamp, Document Automation products, Compliance Logistics and document security etc is used by 1000+ Indian organizations to digitise their paperwork operations and produce outstanding business results. MUMBAI: Reality TV shows have practically dominated television in recent years, but do channels really benefit by airing cost-intensive, star-studded, high-impact shows?
Colors Hindi – the GEC from the Viacom18 stable - seems to know the answer. And the answer is Bigg Boss.
In its thirteenth season, the Salman Khan-hosted show has once again helped the channel reclaim the top position in BARC India week 45 ratings in HSM urban prime time slot, with decent help from Chhoti Sardarni, which that completed 100 episodes earlier this month.
Launched on 29 September, Bigg Boss opened with a viewership of 6.9 million, making it the second-best launch in the category (year to date FY20 - YTD FY20). However, as the show progressed and viewers got familiar with the new contestants in its latest edition, its viewership saw a positive rally. Within six weeks of its launch, Biggg Boss has already reached 139 million viewers across India, according to data provided by the channel team.
In the latest two weeks - BARC week 44 and week 45 (26 October to 8 November) - data for which is available, Bigg Boss has emerged as the number 1 non-fiction show on weekends and the undisputed slot leader on weekdays with 27 per cent market share in HSM Urban 2+ and 29 per cent market share in AB 15+ category.
Bigg Boss is not only leading its slot (weekdays 2230 to 2330; weekends 2100 to 2200) but its huge-viewership during the last two weeks has also helped Colors regain the much-coveted number 1 spot in the crowded Hindi GEC market, according to channel data.
On the weekends, however, as seen in the picture above, Bigg Boss is facing stiff competition from Sony’s Indian Idol and The Kapil Sharma Show.
Speaking on the success of Bigg Boss Season 13, Viacom18 chief content officer Hindi mass entertainment Manisha Sharma says: “Bigg Boss is doing very well - its popularity has only increased with the years. It opened with a viewership of 6.9 million on HSM Urban and has already reached over 140 million Indians, which is a very big number. On digital as well, the show is getting amazing numbers. It’s the second-best launch this year in non-fiction shows.”
Notably, Bigg Boss has also helped Viacom18 in getting more eye-balls on Voot. “Voot had nearly 60 million monthly users. But since the launch of Bigg Boss, that number has shot to 80 million. Bigg Boss Kannada is also getting a lot of traction on Voot,” reveals Sharma.

With an even darker, suspense-packed visual, Disney+ Hotstar today unveiled the second trailer for the most-awaited Hotstar Specials crime thriller, Rudra- The Edge Of Darkness at an event in Mumbai. Building curiosity, the trailer opens with a terrific dialogue by Ajay Devgn, “Jo andharo mein chupta hai, main usse wahi milta hu.” As he further introduces himself as ACP Rudra Veer, we get to see a glimpse of him solving the most mysterious crimes in the most unconventional ways.

TV ad volumes drop 26% in 3rd week of lockdown, viewership dips 3%
MUMBAI: Total TV consumption in India has seen a slight dip of 3.4% in week ended April 10th (week 14 of 2020) compared to week 13 after two weeks of rapid rise, the latest report from BARC India shows.
The consumption during the week was at 1.22 trillion minutes, still 38% higher than pre-Covid19 time (January 11-31). Last week, the total TV consumption had reached a historic high of 1.27 trillion minutes.
However, despite a rise in viewership, the lockdown and supply chain issues have resulted in a 26% drop in overall free commercial time (FCT) from 28 million seconds in a week in January to 20 million seconds in week 14.
The news genre, which has seen highest growth, has recorded just 1% drop in FCT, whereas general entertainment channels (GECs), movies, music and kids genres have also witnessed a de-growth of 34%, 43%, 58% and 43%, respectively in weekly average FCTs.
In terms of languages across general entertainment genres, only English Entertainment channels have recorded a 19% jump, whereas all other languages have registered drop, including Hindi GECs (31%), Tamil GEC (52%), Bangla (47%), Kannada (37%), Malayalam (42%), Telugu (35%) and Marathi (29%).
Among movie genres, English movie genre was least impacted with just 1% drop in FCT, while Hindi dropped by 49%, Tamil by 57%, Telugu by 39%, Kannada by 46% and Bengali by 36%.
Viewership stabilised
The viewership data suggests that average daily reach has stabilised at 627 million, compared to 560 million in the pre-Covid19 weeks, while number of viewers watching TV all seven days a week has also plateaued at 47%, which is 15% higher than pre-Covid19 period.
Interestingly, the drop in the week 14 has come mainly on the back of decrease of 7% in the Southern markets. In the Hindi speaking markets (HSM), the drop is just 1%.
In Week 14 also, news and movies continued to drive the overall 38% increase over January viewership. While news genre was up 219%, movies overall witnessed a 73% rise.
The biggest highlight of the week was an all-time high viewership of 4 billion impressions by the Hindi general entertainment genre in the HSM urban region. This is the highest since 2015 that the genre has recorded, mainly on the back of ‘Ramayan’ on DD National and ‘Mahabharat’ on DD Bharati, which has now entered in the top 5 GEC list for the first time ever.
BARC defines impressions as the number of individuals of a target audience, averaged across minutes. Reach is the total number of individuals who viewed the event for at least one minute.

How to run AWS CloudHSM workloads on Docker containers
AWS CloudHSM is a cloud-based hardware security module (HSM) that enables you to generate and use your own encryption keys on the AWS Cloud. With CloudHSM, you can manage your own encryption keys using FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated HSMs. Your HSMs are part of a CloudHSM cluster. CloudHSM automatically manages synchronization, high availability, and failover within a cluster.
CloudHSM is part of the AWS Cryptography suite of services, which also includes AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and AWS Certificate Manager Private Certificate Authority (ACM PCA). KMS and ACM PCA are fully managed services that are easy to use and integrate. You’ll generally use AWS CloudHSM only if your workload needs a single-tenant HSM under your own control, or if you need cryptographic algorithms that aren’t available in the fully-managed alternatives.
CloudHSM offers several options for you to connect your application to your HSMs, including PKCS#11, Java Cryptography Extensions (JCE), or Microsoft CryptoNG (CNG). Regardless of which library you choose, you’ll use the CloudHSM client to connect to all HSMs in your cluster. The CloudHSM client runs as a daemon, locally on the same Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance or server as your applications.
The deployment process is straightforward if you’re running your application directly on your compute resource. However, if you want to deploy applications using the HSMs in containers, you’ll need to make some adjustments to the installation and execution of your application and the CloudHSM components it depends on. Docker containers don’t typically include access to an init process like systemd or upstart. This means that you can’t start the CloudHSM client service from within the container using the general instructions provided by CloudHSM. You also can’t run the CloudHSM client service remotely and connect to it from the containers, as the client daemon listens to your application using a local Unix Domain Socket. You cannot connect to this socket remotely from outside the EC2 instance network namespace.
This blog post discusses the workaround that you’ll need in order to configure your container and start the client daemon so that you can utilize CloudHSM-based applications with containers. Specifically, in this post, I’ll show you how to run the CloudHSM client daemon from within a Docker container without needing to start the service. This enables you to use Docker to develop, deploy and run applications using the CloudHSM software libraries, and it also gives you the ability to manage and orchestrate workloads using tools and services like Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Kubernetes, Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), and Jenkins.
Solution overview
My solution shows you how to create a proof-of-concept sample Docker container that is configured to run the CloudHSM client daemon. When the daemon is up and running, it runs the AESGCMEncryptDecryptRunner Java class, available on the AWS CloudHSM Java JCE samples repo. This class uses CloudHSM to generate an AES key, then it uses the key to encrypt and decrypt randomly generated data.
Note: In my example, you must manually enter the crypto user (CU) credentials as environment variables when running the container. For any production workload, you’ll need to carefully consider how to provide, secure, and automate the handling and distribution of your HSM credentials. You should work with your security or compliance officer to ensure that you’re using an appropriate method of securing HSM login credentials for your application and security needs.

Prerequisites
To implement my solution, I recommend that you have basic knowledge of the below:
CloudHSM
Docker
Java
Here’s what you’ll need to follow along with my example:
An active CloudHSM cluster with at least one active HSM. You can follow the Getting Started Guide to create and initialize a CloudHSM cluster. (Note that for any production cluster, you should have at least two active HSMs spread across Availability Zones.)
An Amazon Linux 2 EC2 instance in the same Amazon Virtual Private Cloud in which you created your CloudHSM cluster. The EC2 instance must have the CloudHSM cluster security group attached—this security group is automatically created during the cluster initialization and is used to control access to the HSMs. You can learn about attaching security groups to allow EC2 instances to connect to your HSMs in our online documentation.
A CloudHSM crypto user (CU) account created on your HSM. You can create a CU by following these user guide steps.
Solution details
On your Amazon Linux EC2 instance, install Docker:
# sudo yum -y install docker
Start the docker service:
# sudo service docker start
Create a new directory and step into it. In my example, I use a directory named “cloudhsm_container.” You’ll use the new directory to configure the Docker image.
# mkdir cloudhsm_container
# cd cloudhsm_container
Copy the CloudHSM cluster’s CA certificate (customerCA.crt) to the directory you just created. You can find the CA certificate on any working CloudHSM client instance under the path /opt/cloudhsm/etc/customerCA.crt. This certificate is created during initialization of the CloudHSM Cluster and is needed to connect to the CloudHSM cluster.
In your new directory, create a new file with the name run_sample.sh that includes the contents below. The script starts the CloudHSM client daemon, waits until the daemon process is running and ready, and then runs the Java class that is used to generate an AES key to encrypt and decrypt your data.

In the new directory, create another new file and name it Dockerfile (with no extension). This file will specify that the Docker image is built with the following components:
The AWS CloudHSM client package.
The AWS CloudHSM Java JCE package.
OpenJDK 1.8. This is needed to compile and run the Java classes and JAR files.
Maven, a build automation tool that is needed to assist with building the Java classes and JAR files.
The AWS CloudHSM Java JCE samples that will be downloaded and built.
Cut and paste the contents below into Dockerfile.
Note: Make sure to replace the HSM_IP line with the IP of an HSM in your CloudHSM cluster. You can get your HSM IPs from the CloudHSM console, or by running the describe-clusters AWS CLI command.

Now you’re ready to build the Docker image. Use the following command, with the name jce_sample_client. This command will let you use the Dockerfile you created in step 6 to create the image.

To run a Docker container from the Docker image you just created, use the following command. Make sure to replace the user and password with your actual CU username and password. (If you need help setting up your CU credentials, see prerequisite 3. For more information on how to provide CU credentials to the AWS CloudHSM Java JCE Library, refer to the steps in the CloudHSM user guide.)
