So I might be snatching cheap gen 1's off the AH. My original 86 ungened gen 1's are crying out in horror.
But look! They have potential! How could I leave them??
(Side note: totally willing to sell what I bought them for if anyone needs more projects. 7 & 8g)

Bah. Saw the new genes last night before rollover, killed some time testing them out on existing dragon pairs, found just one pair I kind of liked them on for their offspring. But I didn’t want to regene that particular pair, so I ended up finding a second mate for the male of the pair so I could gene up her instead (triads are nice for stuff like that). Killed some time trying to snipe genes both pre- and post-rollover. More time on and off this afternoon.
Eventually clued in that they weren’t showing up because they’re gem genes *headdesk*.
Don’t know that I like harlequin-jester enough to pop 2700 gems for them. Heck, I was iffy on them when I thought they were just another pair of making-things-hard-to-coordinate treasure genes (can we please get more of the ones where stuff still looks more-or-less like their actual base colours instead of like five different accent colours).
*Stares at Norval and his new second mate Norvis sitting in the Needs Something tab.*
Maybe if enough of my gem-priced aethers sell. Or I may just say to heck with it and merely wait a month or three until hatchlings are affordable.

[id : a digital drawing of a fae from flight rising, with the genes harlequin, flair, and runes in shades of black, grey, red, orange, and green with purple accents, giving it an autumnal vibe. she is wearing a pale yellow mask with orange markings, antlers, with white arm sleeves, scarf, and cape that resembles feathered wings, along with a lantern on the tip of her tail casting a reddish orange glow. she is laying on her belly with her wings held up, and her long neck is twisted around to rest her head on one of her talons, looking off to the side with a cheeky smile. end id]
bonus version w/o accessories bc i did NOT put in the effort of coloring her in only for half her body to be covered up
[id : the same image as above, but without her accessories on. the purple runes along the fae’s face, body, talons and tail are visible now, as are the leafy patterns on her wings. the shading has been removed, giving the image a flatter appearance. end id]

quick question , does anybody know what . . . actually determines which version of harlequin a pose has ? it doesn't seem to be based on male/female , or what way the dragon is facing .
i'm just trying to think of what to call the version i used for pinfeather pixels that will be immediately understood , so that people know ahead of time what to expect if their order has the gene , because i used the left version .

My favourite Jestharls
Blush - Coral
Charcoal - Grape
Jade - Rust
Royal - Green
Many of these stand out because they work SO well with colours I previously had a lot of trouble with! What amazing genes.
