The South Korean automaker took this bold step knowing that it won’t really have a major impact on its Norway sales, especially after it saw how much interest its new Ioniq 6 model got in the country. Thomas Rosvold, the Managing Director at Hyundai Motor Norway, said that
We have great faith in our model portfolio, and now that we have launched the all-new IONIQ 6, the time has come to sell only all-electric cars in the Norwegian market. IONIQ 5 and KONA Electric have long since taken positions as some of the most popular cars in the market, and we are confident that our pure electric cars will bring us continued success into the future(..)
P.S. Very good news! Hyundai is not the first car manufacturer to sell only electric cars in Norway. Tesla does it all the time and its car business thrives. Moreover, the announcement itself is not as dramatic as it sounds, since ICE vehicle sales are almost dead. Those few percent of fossil fuel powered cars no longer have any significant role in the Norwegian car market....It is only a matter of short time before fossil fuel car sales will be dead in the rest of Europe. The collapse of the fossil fuel car trade will be significantly accelerated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the arrival of affordable Chinese electric cars with LFP battery technology on the European market...

Australia’s first hydrogen car comes to market, complete with charging stations in just 5 minutes. The car travels 900 kilometers with the tank full and purifies the air as it moves forward. For the first time, hydrogen fuel cell technology is being applied serialized in a commercial car and, above all, it allows for such important autonomy, with very reduced charging times.
This is Hyundai Nexo, a small-cylinder car that beats all car manufacturers in the world and sets a sustainability record, with a charge of 6.27 kilograms of hydrogen that purifies 449,100 liters of air during e The journey (as much as the consumption of breathing of 33 people for a whole day) and it only emits water down your exhaust pipe. This car produces no CO2 or other polluting emissions; just think that an equivalent vehicle, with a traditional combustion engine, emits about 126 kg of CO2 at the same distance.
The hydrogen engine thus enters the automobile market and intends to join the electric one among the sustainable mobility solutions the world is adopting. Hyundai thus becomes the first automaker in the world to produce a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle for the market. The car is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system that, to generate electricity, passes the gas through a membrane structure where it meets the air taken from the external environment, a process that feeds an electric motor. The excess electricity generated, including energy stored during braking, is stored in a lithium-ion battery. Reposting the next takes 5 min.
The first country to put the car on sale was Australia, where the first gas stations were also built. A true vision of a sustainable future.
Science & Technology
Wow, I wondered what had happened to this technology. When I first entered the securities business in 1980, Ballard Power was a hot stock. They had the patents and the product -- hydrogen-powered electric engines, but never reached commercial status. Eventually they dropped off the radar entirely. If the Aussies have truly made this viable it is a huge deal, bigger than generic electric vehicles (see Tesla).

So Hyundai fucked up pretty badly by not only giving me a car with a bad battery (which caused me to lose a day of work and spend $250 on a new battery), they left a receipt in my car with proof that they KNEW the battery needed to be replaced and yet still let me drive off with a bad battery
So now I must go challenge the manager of Hyundai to mortal combat

Hyundai N Vision 74 (prototype).
Hydrogen fuel cell EVs aren't particularly sexy, or at least, they weren't. Say hello to the Hyundai N Vision 74 concept, a high-performance hydrogen fuel cell-powered EV meant to bridge EV power and performance with liquid fuel range. Hyundai's N high-performance sub-brand has been working on battery and fuel cell-powered performance prototypes for seven years now, and the project is beginning to bear some exciting fruit. The N Vision 74 aims to solve the biggest issue with high-performance EVs: the lack of range. The N people call it a "hydrogen hybrid."
Running flat-out, batteries don't last long. A previous all-electric prototype, the RM20e, only had 25 miles of range when driven on a racetrack, and while making the battery bigger would give it more range, it would also significantly increase the weight and hurts performance. Hyundai's solution: add a hydrogen fuel cell instead which combines compressed hydrogen from onboard tanks with oxygen in the atmosphere to create electricity and water, then use that electricity to power the electric motors. With just 4.2 kilograms of hydrogen onboard and a fully charged 62.4-kWh battery, Hyundai claims the N Vision 74 has a range of more than 373 miles when driven gently. It's bound to be much less when driven hard, as the dual rear electric motors suck down electrons to the tune of more than 580 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to give the sleek, angular coupe a top speed of over 155 mph and the ability to hit 60 mph in four seconds. The company is looking into adding a front motor in future prototypes which would reduce acceleration times even further. In addition to adding range, the fuel cell also reduces refueling time to just five minutes. The battery, meanwhile, is capable of charging at 800 volts, which should drop its charging time from 10 percent to 80 percent to under 18 minutes, based on production Hyundai EVs with similar battery technology. The fuel cell can pump out a maximum of 95 kW to help power the motors or recharge the battery.
The fuel cell itself is located under the hood, while a pair of hydrogen storage tanks are fitted in the trunk. A T-shaped battery fits behind and between the two seats, keeping the heaviest component in the center of the car for better weight distribution. Regardless of source, power is fed to a pair of motors on the rear axle, one driving each rear wheel. This allows the computer to perform torque vectoring in the same fashion as an electronically controlled limited slip differential, a trick the N engineers used to great success on the RM20e concept. Keeping the fuel cell, battery, and motors cool presents an enormous challenge, so the N Vision 74 features three separate cooling circuits serving each system separately. The goal is to have the car run a flat-out lap of the challenging Nürburgring Nordschleife without overheating and reducing power.
As cool as the numbers are, they're nothing compared to the car itself. Inspired by the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe concept, the N Vision 74 looks like a restomod '70s supercar. We see a lot of Lancia 037 and DeLorean DMC-12 in the look, enhanced with massive side air intakes and an enormous rear wing, neither of which would look out of place on a modern Lamborghini. We love the turbine-style 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, which have been wrapped in what must be the widest tires ever on a Hyundai, 295 width up front and 325 in the rear. The pixelated headlights from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 give it a real retro-futuristic look we can't help but love. The DeLorean bit is no accident. When Hyundai wasn't able to bring the Pony Coupe to market for a variety of reasons (lack of a proper engine, not to mention lacking general market awareness and acceptance), Giugiaro continued to refine the design and eventually sold the new version to DeLorean.

ALSO-- in a car, there exists an Itty bitty rubber stopper that is located at the very top of your brakes. It's there to hit the brake switch to turn off your brake lights when you're driving. I had no idea this thing existed until Saturday, when it fucking broke and my brake lights wouldn't turn off (even when my car was off). Of COURSE no one in town had the one for my Hyundai. I could only find the part on Amazon, and it's FINALLY coming in today (I've been without it since Saturday night).
So I had to jerryrig a nut and bolt so I could have the brake light turned off until my part came in. Except on my way to work this morning, it caused my brake to lock WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I had to pull over, get upside down under the wheel, and pull it out. Then, when I got at work, I had to put it back in so my battery didn't fucking die on me during work.
Needless to say, I am over EVERYTHING this morning

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a Welcome Surprise
Tumblr media
Hyundai released the Ioniq 6 and with it came the huge support of the car community. Of course there are some people who don’t like the design saying that its too “Porsche-esque” and that the tail of the car does not reflect wha the car stands for. This fully battery blooded beast has given people what they want though. A very well made machine with the comforts of seating 5 and the luggage space to make it practical in everyday use. The Ioniq 6 is remarkable with its fast charging times based around 6.1 to 7.5 hours which allows lots of people to be comfortable with doing a nice afternoon or overnight charge to get themselves ready for the following day, likewise with the battery capacity which allows for up to a wonderful estimated 361 miles of range which bests even the likes of the Tesla model 3.
Tumblr media
The interior of the Ioniq 6 offers a nice minimalistic feel as well as staying in the same style of the Ioniq 5 with a nice luxurious bright leather and plastic upholstery. These can be easily changed with Hyundais integrated lighting system that allows for the change in the RGB lighting system in the door cards that can set a nice mood when driving during the day or even at night to help reduce eye strain from the Jeep wrangler with a rally light bar on his grill behind you.
Tumblr media
The exterior design is there the Ioniq 6 starts to become controversial. People say that the rear design might prove to be troublesome for the future design on Hyundais electric vehicles. For me I really enjoy the rear of the 6, to me it looks like wing sort of looks like the back of the 997 GT3 RS with the pleated rear lights going into the wing. It gives the car the sport luxury design that it deserves to make it an eye turner in the electric car world instead of the egg shape that most electric cars are going towards.

Hyundai N Vision 74
Inspired by Hyundai Motor’s heritage, N Vision 74 is a high-performance hydrogen fuel cell hybrid rolling lab that underlines the company’s leadership in sustainable performance technology. N Vision 74 is inspired by both technology and design, rooted in N’s sustainable vision announced in 2015 and Hyundai’s passion for high performance since 1974.
In terms of design, N Vision 74 pays an homage to the Hyundai Pony Coupe concept from 1974, which was developed by the legendary car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The concept was then built into prototypes for Hyundai’s first production sports car. Although it could not reach production in the end, the daring attitude set the tone for the entire company.
N Vision 74 inherited the pure surface, the dynamic proportioned profile and the unique B pillar from the 1974 Pony Coupe concept. Hyundai’s design heritage meets the electrification era with high performance to shape N Vision 74. In addition, Parametric Pixel lighting provides a futuristic flourish.
N Vision 74 elevates the daring attitude of the Pony Coupe concept into a future Hyundai design, while reinterpreting the interior as an entertaining space without losing the pure architecture of the Pony Coupe concept. It is equipped with a driver-centric cockpit with a blend of heritage elements and modern design, such as digital cluster and analogue buttons.
Measuring 4,952 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,331 mm tall on a 2,905 mm wheelbase, it is the first high-performance rolling lab built on the most advanced hydrogen fuel cell system that Hyundai N has ever created. But this is not the first time for N to deal with fuel cell technology. N Vision 74 is also inspired by the concept car Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo, which was unveiled in 2015 with the launch of N brand to envision the future of hydrogen-based high performance.
Just seven years later, Hyundai N is introducing N Vision 74, setting its sights even further by realizing its passion for ‘fun to drive’ and imagination. Hyundai’s engineers developed a hybrid structure of a battery-electric in combination with an FCEV system, which is placed in an all-new layout. By having fuel cell system and battery-electric powering the N Vision 74 together, the cooling efficiency is improved, while the two different power sources can be used depending on different driving conditions. This fine-tuned logic system enables better torque vectoring by twin motors on the rear, allowing a precise and responsive cornering experience. Moreover, N Vision 74 explores the balance between the performance and cooling with a three-channel cooling system.
The high-performance technology is fully integrated into the design to fulfil the FCEV’s heat management requirements. With such functional aesthetics, N Vision 74 explores the balance between state-of-the-art-technology and iconic design. Along with long-range and fast refueling capabilities, N Vision 74 guarantees driving fun with a sustainable power source via the application of cutting-edge technologies.
This ‘rolling lab’ concepts demonstrate Hyundai Motor’s ambition to become a leader in the zero-emissions future. Hyundai Motor’s ‘rolling labs’ are where it tests and verifies the company’s advanced technologies to apply them to future production models. N Vision 74 combines EV technology with an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system, making it Hyundai N’s first hydrogen hybrid rolling lab to explore ‘driving fun’ in the electrification era.
