- Have You Coming Back Again (whoknows) - It’s five o’clock in the morning. Louis has a lecture at half eight. He could be using this time to study or to do his readings or to go to the gym, but - well. He doesn’t have any exams coming up, he’s not going to his seminar today anyway and he hates the gym.

Instead he’s using this time to fuck with Harry Styles’ poor little brain.Louis jogs across the street and jabs the key into the car door. It opens easily, not that he was expecting anything else. He copied the key for a reason, after all.

He’s got Harry’s schedule memorized, more because the guy keeps following him around than anything, so he doesn’t bother looking around before climbing behind the wheel and setting his bag on the passenger seat. It’s a Monday, which means that Harry doesn’t even get out of bed before noon unless he’s planning on harassing Louis.

- Falling For Me Won’t Be A Mistake (rearviewdreamer) - Harry is married to his job and so overworked that he doesn't know how to stop. All it takes is a forced Hawaiian get-a-away, the warm tropical breeze of the island, and the most beautiful, elusive man he's ever seen to make him remember what living is like outside of work. But their simple plan goes awry when he learns that Harry, ex-boyfriend/ex-love of Louis’ life, will also be in attendance.

- Led By Your Beating Heart (missandrogyny) - Nick leans over. "Oh," he says, his voice smug. "Who is that?"

Harry just blinks at his phone. "Um," he manages to stammer out.

"Who's that, Harry?" Nick asks again, but this time he raises his eyebrows and smirks. Harry knows Nick is just teasing, and that he's not really looking for new Harry Styles gossip, but, um. He might have found something. Accidentally.

Harry opens his mouth to speak, but all that comes out is another 'um'. He really needs to work on translating his thoughts into words. But then it probably wouldn't be any helpful right now, would it? His mind is as blank as a newly erased etch-a-sketch.

"Oh," Nick says again, this time gleefully, seemingly having picked up on Harry's distress. "Looks like we've got a story here! Are you going to call or delete her number?"

Her number. So Nick thinks it's a girl. Well, Harry can't blame him: 'Lou' is kind of an androgynous nickname. His stylist's name is Lou.

But this Lou, well, Louis, he's kind of, really, really not a girl. He's really pretty though, which, is something.

(Or: AU where Harry's in One Direction, Louis isn't, and they reconnect over a game of 'Call or Delete'.)

- Members Only (kikikryslee) - Louis works at Harry's new gym and neither one of them knows how to hold a coherent conversation with the other.

- My English Love Affair (isthatyoularry) - The thing about sleeping with a member of a famous indie band is that the inevitability of having a song written about you is most likely a hundred percent. The second thing is that in the end, nobody's supposed to find out it's about you.

The one where Harry writes a song about his English love affair and Louis sleeps with someone in White Eskimo and all he gets is a stupid song written about him.

- Your Kiss (dimpled_halo) - Louis and Harry are best friends who make things more complicated when they start to kiss.

- Can I Be Him? (amory) - Louis is twenty years old and has been waiting for his soulmate and true love to come along since the day he was born. He just can’t and he’s told himself this multiple times. He has to simply stay away from Louis Tomlinson. But he can’t. Harry Styles can never stay away from Louis Tomlinson. It’s physically impossible for him to.

- My Heart, In Deadly Rhythm (impetuous) - Spies!AU in which Liam is the Wade to Louis' Kim Possible, Zayn seduces people for intel, Niall is an expert at blowing things up, and Harry is more than a bit famous in his particular field... or infamous, actually. And Louis? Well, Louis just wishes people would quit trying so bloody hard to kill him all the time.

- Now That I’ve Found You (allwaswell16) - Harry Styles has a great job working for his brother-in-law’s construction company. He has just one small problem. His concrete sub-contractor just quit, and he needs a foundation built as soon as possible. One fateful turn brings him exactly what he’s been looking for—an experienced concrete construction company that happens to be owned by the most beautiful man he’s ever laid eyes upon.

- Like An Endless Summer (objectlesson) - Louis is a riding instructor at a summer camp, and Harry is a fellow counselor who he’s been successfully managing his crush on for the last two summers. What exactly is slow burn? And wip? And a/b/o? And can you, like, recommend some fics like this so I can KNOW what ARE those?

I will GLADLY let you know about all of this!!! The first time I started reading fanfiction I was so confused. And for a while, I didn’t like ABO - which is hilarious because I’m obsessed with it now.

Slow Burn - A type of story where the main character and their love interest take a long time to get together.

Example: got the sunshine on my shoulders by hattalove

five years ago, harry styles left his tiny home town to make it big as a recording artist. he didn’t have much regard for what he left behind - a life, a family, and a husband, who woke up one morning to find him gone.

now, harry has everything he could possibly want: he’s rich, famous, and adored by everyone he meets, including his boyfriend. but when said boyfriend proposes to him, he’s forced to face the uncomfortable facts of his past - and louis, who’s spent the last five years returning every set of divorce papers harry sent him.

(or, an au based on the movie sweet home alabama.)

WIP - this is an acronym that stands for Work In Progress - which is essentially a story that is currently updating or not completed.

“Just. How bad is it?”

Zayn sighs. Shit.

“Not that bad, really,” he says quickly as he scans Louis’ face. “It depends, really. The freshmen are all right and I think you’ll manage just fine with the sophomores.”

“But?”

“Seniors are always shit because they think they rule the school, and this specific class of juniors… Well, let’s say you’ll find a real troublemaker there. Some say he used to be a soft kid, but- I don’t know. Most teachers just leave him alone.” Zayn shrugs. “He walks around with a tough crowd. Guess no one wants to take their chances with him. This is Chicago after all.”

“D’you know the name of the kid?” Louis asks, already very curious to meet said person.

“His name is Harry Styles.” The other man responds. “You’re in for a treat with this one.”

[Or: The one in which Louis always hears thunder when Harry speaks and sees lightning when he glances at him.]

ABO - This is also an acronym that represents Alpha Beta Omega Dynamics. Here’s the thing to keep in mind with stories that are created with an ABO universe - it’s not always the same. Take time to read author’s notes because there are times when they make significant changes to this universe that diverge from the norm.

Also, sorry this will be long!

Here’s my break down of ABO and I hope that it helps make sense of this! First things first - Alpha, Beta, and Omega represent secondary genders - for example, a person’s first gender would be male/female/etc. Their secondary gender would be alpha/beta/omega. You can have a female alpha or male omega. Also, some stories write that you are born with your secondary gender, and some write that you develop it after a certain age.

Alphas usually are the most dominant of the others, whereas Omegas typically are more submissive. This can be changed/altered - but this is a general idea of what roles those genders play. Betas are typical a neutral party. Also, Omegas are more often than not, the child bearers.

The cool thing about this universe (which is my favorite honestly), is that relationships can form a physical bond - usually done between A/O relationships. This mating bond is what seals the two souls together, creating the pair as mates for life. Once bonded, some authors write that pairs can hear one another’s thoughts, can sense one another’s feelings, etc.

Another thing that is common throughout the ABO universe is the concept of heats and ruts. Omegas go into heats - which is essentially their bodies best time for reproduction, which is the same overall idea for ruts except their done by Alphas. As for as how long they last and how often they happen - that’s up to the authors to decide. This is something that is always different.

A big thing with ABO is that it really ties back to animal instincts, so a few features that ABO stories will have are things like scenting and knotting. Scent is typically very important in these stories, authors often write that mates find each other through the stronger ability to scent. As for knotting, that’s something Alphas do during sex, which a lot of animals do as well. I would maybe google this one if it’s confusing and you really want to know. And also, when an Alpha knots an Omega, they can get locked together for a certain amount of time before the knot goes down. (This is really hard to try explaining, sorry if I’m not doing well)

“I haven’t really eaten much of it.” Louis admits, clearing his throat. “W-Why do you ask?”

The question seems to catch Harry off-guard even though he opened up this path of conversation. In addition, everyone seated around them seems drawn to their awkward communication; even the ladies who conduct the actual baking in the kitchen are peeking through a slot in the wall.

“Well, would you be open to being convinced?” Harry asks, wincing when he clumsily steps around the table and ends up kicking it an inch to the left.

Or, Louis works in a bakery and Harry doesn't. They fall in love through a series of awkward events.
