Here’s a custom Q for you if you don’t mind! When you’re writing for your One Piece OC, do you tend to picture them most as Live Action, Anime, or Manga? Or perhaps a combination of the bunch?
+
If you tend to write/create them more geared towards one of the mediums, what might their adapted-to-another-medium alternate set look like?
Hi, thanks so much for your question! It seems I can answer asks normally on desktop, and I was thinking about this exact thing just now while working on my masterlist redux, so here we go:
It actually really depends on the OC! Both Luna and Inari were created when the Live Action wasn't even announced yet. They're also introduced in the story at a point that OPLA hasn't reached yet, so I never really thought a lot about how they would be presented in the Live Action when it came out. Cora and Lily were created specifically for the Live Action, so they don't even really have an anime-style counterpart. I haven't drawn one yet for either of them but I would love to some day. Aurelia, my newest darling, was originally supposed to be an anime girlie, but then I started imagining what part she might play in the live action, and now she exists in both worlds. Generally, when writing, I stick to the main canon of whichever media type I'm writing for, but I'll use the other version to fill in holes. For example, Cora's backstory is 100% based on late anime/manga events, and I wouldn't put it above myself to maybe sneak OPLA's earpiece den den mushi design into an anime/manga fic simply because it's cool and practical.
Anyways, when I picture my girls in my brain, here's what I see:
I view Luna as a sort of semi-realistic figure (because she wasn't a OP OC originally, it's a long story), somewhere between the anime's artstyle and, well, a normal human being. This is why it's incredibly hard for me to pick a potential faceclaim for her, because I have this set face in mind and nobody seems to really fit it perfectly. If I had to pick though, I'd probably go for either Joanna Vanderham, maybe Morfydd Clark, maybe potentially Samara Weaving. They all have details I don't 100% like and they would need to have way lighter hair, but they would work.
Inari I view as 100% anime style. It's hard for me to not see her as this cartoony anime girl with three huge blue eyes. But if I had to pick a faceclaim for her, my current pick would be Amanda Arcuri.
I'll skip over Cora and Lily here because I view them as their live action forms for obvious reasons, though Lily is still more cartoony in my brain simply because of her ears and tail. I definitely wanna draw both of them in anime/manga form one day!
Aurelia is a special case because she exists in both canons, but I see her as her live action variant most of the time. I don't 100% know why, maybe it's the leftover brainrot, maybe it's easier, but that's just how it works with me.
So, I hope this sorta answers your question! Thanks again for asking, and have a lovely day!

Hi there! I noticed you're away for the week, so no worries if you can't answer right now.
I just wanted to say I love your mood boards; they're so perfect!
Most of the time, you don't even include pictures of the main characters, but the mood is so clear that you can easily envision them.
Do you have any advice for a newbie like me who wants to start creating mood boards? What's your process?
Oh, anon, thank you! 🖤 That is so sweet of you to say, and I am so touched that you've enjoyed my moodboards! Putting this under a read more because it got a little long!
For making moodboards (and pretty much any of my designs like my fic banners) I use Canva. They have some great free templates available where you basically just have to drop the pictures into the spaces and it's already formatted and everything!
As far as finding images go, I usually will use either the images provided by Canva, or ones from Pinterest, since I have boards for all of my series. As of right now, like for my aesthetic boards, I may start with searching "Character Name Aesthetic" into Pinterest and see what pops up. Sometimes, I have specific images in mind, like with Tommy I knew I wanted horses and cigarettes to be featured somewhere. If I need to, I'll adjust the brightness/other aspects of a photo after uploading it into Canva in order to make it fit with all the images in the moodboard, and if I need to I'll also crop things to fit better.
When it comes to formatting moodboards, I have a bit of a rough template I try to follow for the different types of boards I've made, specifically aesthetic, OC appearance, OC x Canon, and Fics.
For aesthetic boards, I try to find images I highly associate with the character or OC, and sometimes if a character has a specific color scheme, like red for my Peaky Blinders OC Lucy or blue for my Inception OC Alice, I'll try to search for images focusing on those colors, and use 4 of those and 4 more neutral colored images so that the color really pops. Then I'll put a quote that fits the character as the center image of the board. I mostly use 9 image (3x3) moodboard templates. Typically I try to keep these faceless, just because I like the challenge of trying to find at minimum 8 images to fit a character that don't involve their actual physical appearance, but you can 100% use these too if you want!
For OC appearance boards, I try to find 4 photos of clothing that they would wear which go in each corner of the 3x3 moodboard, 2 of their hair (faceless) which goes on the two middle spaces of the right and left columns, 1 of their eye color to go in the center, and 2 of their faceclaim to go in the top middle and bottom middle rows. Basically what I want to do is give as good of a general consensus as I can of what my OC looks like. Because I can't draw, this is sort of how I can convey to anyone interested how I personally picture my OCs.
For OC x Canon, I use a similar method as I do for OC appearance. I find 4 aesthetic images that either I can relate to their relationship or that just fit the "vibe" of them as a couple. For example, in my Alice x Robert moodboard, I have an image of the ocean there because the ocean is a big motif in their series. These go in the 4 corners of the 3x3. I also find a quote that fits them as a couple to go in the center, and an image of the OC faceclaim and the canon character to go in the middle spaces of the right and left columns. For the top middle and bottom middle rows, I find two faceless "couple" pictures. Something like two people holding hands, cuddling, kissing, etc.
Finally, for fic-specific moodboards, I take basically the same approach as I do for OC x Canon, except the quote in the center and the aesthetic images in the corners should relate to the topic of the fic, and not necessarily just the OC x Canon relationship.
Obviously this is just how I prefer to do things, as I like having clear systems and templates in place that I can easily follow, and you can make your moodboards however you chose! My main tips would be to try to ensure you have a clear theme, whether that's just a specific color or a topic, character, or story motif. That'll help your moodboard feel more cohesive. And just play around with it! Try out different images, try them out in different spots, adjust the image settings like the brightness or contrast, try out filters (I use the black and white ones a lot) and just have fun!
Let me know if you have any other questions or any other comments related to this! I am by no means an expert, but I'm always happy to help! 🖤

also for the fandom+fc meme: gabriel luna & john wick? (more like ‘x john wick’ ahshdkdls) — @xoteajays
TJ, the genius that you are... thank you so much for this!!
Tumblr media
NAME: Luca Alvarez.
LOVE INTEREST: John Wick (because, well, yeah).
SUMMARY: Much like John Wick, the assassin those in their line of business called "the Boogeyman," Luca had been out of the killing business for several years now. Or, he was as much out of it as one could really get without doing what John had done to get out, anyway - a job gone seriously wrong, so wrong that he'd had to be rescued and saved by another assassin who owed him a favor after being held captive for two weeks, had left him with scars all over his body, a permanent limp from the botched surgery after he'd been rescued, and horrible nightmares almost every night, but it had also been enough to give him an excuse to never kill again. These days, Luca was living at his local Continental, using the skills he'd picked up from years of having to patch himself up to fix up his former coworkers for a fat paycheck - but when John Wick, who is supposed to be even more retired than Luca, comes back to the hotel and Luca winds up having to help him fight off several people trying kill him after Luca's just patched him up, he figures that maybe he wasn't meant to leave this line of work, after all.
OTHER INFO:
So, Luca and John had worked together once or twice back in the day, and Luca definitely had a big fat crush on him for a while, but gave it up once he realized John had fallen in love and wanted to get married. But then John comes back into the Continental where he works and Luca gets to see him shirtless again and all those old feelings come back with a vengeance.
Meanwhile John never really saw Luca that way when they were working together before, but now Luca has a beard and a mustache with some salt and pepper in it, and maybe it's just because Luca patching him up is the first time someone's touched him gently since Helen (it isn't really) but he starts having some hardcore bi panic.
Anyway, Luca hears his struggle with Miss Perkins as he's walking down the hall at night and comes in to help (he may have a bad leg now but he can still kick some ass) and when he realizes what exactly is going on he offers to help, since in his opinion, anyone who would willingly shoot a puppy definitely deserves, if not death, than at least a lot of pain.
The only thing is that Luca refuses to kill anyone now that he's retired, which doesn't make the whole thing that much easier. But he's a capable medic and he can still kick some serious ass and he and John help soothe each other's nightmares, so John keeps him along, and somewhere around the end of the third movie they look at each other and mutually go like, Oh. Shit. I actually love him.
Anyways they're just soft and broken old men who slowly start to heal each other and I love that for both of them <3.
send me a fandom + a faceclaim and i'll create an oc!!

get to know your fanfic writer
tagged by @kittensmctavish (thankies my friend)
When did you post your first ever fanfic?
in the mid 00's... to fucking quizilla. may she rest in peace.
First Character(s) you wrote?
Oh god... that fuckin guy played by Michael Palin from A Fish Called Wanda and an oc I created (I was 13. so as you can see I have fucking always been like this about pathetic old men.)
Main Character(s) you’re currently writing?
Lady Terror and Francis Crozier (first and easily foremost. honestly I've written more shit for him in the last 8 months than I have for anyone in the last several years. it's a little ridiculous), Valery Legasov, Hari Seldon.
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan to write about soon?
I have been meaning to give some extra thought into certain crewmember's perspectives on Lady Terror and their interactions with her that I've been meaning to flesh out- the top 3 of those for me are Tozer, Hickey, and Irving/Hodge (I see them as part of the Lieutenant unit tbh), and some of the other men on Erebus as well. But also there are a few OC's within the Lady Terror family tree that I want to get to writing, as well as some from Crozier's family as well (who I've been faceclaim casting for months lmao).
Fandom(s) you’re currently writing?
Everyone under the beautiful Jared Harris umbrella, tbh. Primarily The Terror and Chernobyl with a little Foundation sprinkled in for flavor. Tomorrow? Who knows...
Platonic pairing(s) you’re currently writing?
Oh loads. I've been writing lots of interactions between lady terror and a big list of folks from the terror (mainly: Thomas Blanky, Silna, Jopson, Goodsir, JFJ, and many many others), but also lots of interpersonal stuff between others on the ships as well.
Romantic pairing(s) you’re currently writing?
(sing it with me if you know it) CROZIER X LADY TERROR!!! Going on like 8 months strong.
Your top AO3 tags?
Fluff, Angst, and Smut (and god damn if that doesn't sum me up)
Current platform you use for posting?
Tumblr primarily but if something feels fleshed-out enough I'll throw it up on Ao3 as well.
Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?
hmmm... since I wanna try and get out the first section of one warm line out for tomorrow's crozier birthday celebrations... how about I tease some vampire stuff hm?
The Lady made short work of curling against Francis’ leg, leaning her head gently against his thigh and nuzzling at his knee as her arm snaked around his calf. She pressed a small kiss to the bony space there, and sighed at the feel of his hand when he reached out to brush through her hair gently, reclining at their mutual touches. But then her kisses grew in frequency, dotting further and further up his thigh. Francis chuckled. “You seem in want of something, Love.” he sighed, low, a smile in his voice as he tangled his fingers in her dark tresses. “Should I call Jopson?” “I’m not hungry,” she replied, pressing another kiss to the delicate skin near his hip, where she paused, dark eyes blown over black gazing up at him with a desire from under her eyelashes, “... not in that way.” Francis chuckled to himself at the prospect. It had been a moment since she’d had her way with him. And if she wanted this, he was certainly in no state to refuse her. “I see, ” he replied, leaning a little forward as his gaze softened. “What is it you crave, then, hm?”
Hmm... now who to tag...
@prismatica-the-strange @ashton-slashton @gaunt-and-hungry @jokerownsmysoul @charismat1c-megafauna... and anyone else who feels such a desire to do so? yeah.

what is ur process of coming up with an mc/oc? i know you are an artist so im quite curious as to how you usually go about it? do you create the characters appearance first or does the fc sometimes inspire their appearance? and how do you go about fleshing otu their personality? seulki and rian are my two faves of ur ocs, but theyre all amazing and i love all of their vibes.
hi!!
so it honeslty just depends how i'm feeling getting into a new game/if ~!
sometimes i'll have a faceclaim in mind i really wanna use for whatever game i get into next and that faceclaim will help determine my mcs vibes. or sometimes i'll decide how i want the mc to look first and seach for a faceclaim to match! just depends on how i'm feeling that day lol
for personality, i think i just answered something similar yesterday here!
i'm so glad u like seulki and rian uwu <3 i appreciate it (and so do they lol),, so for example seulki: i knew i wanted her to romance noah so i made her with noahs romance in mind wanting her to have the "femme fatal" or "black widow" character trope vibes and then chose her face claim to match ~ and for rian i new i wanted a chill down to earth aesthetic for them to be opposite to how anxious and stressed sebastian is at the beginning of their relationship lol

[ Wonder Mun / Accepting ]
Really cut me a swath here, Anon. I've done a few of these, so I'll link those answers as they come up.
My URL name is inspired by events from the Spider-Man animated series from the 90's. Peter meets Madame Web, who offers cryptic visions, ideas, and direction from her seat at the center of the Web of Fate. The idea has been expounded on in mainstream media more lately, but that's where I first heard of it. A woven web projects an idea of a plan, of interconnectedness, and there are often snags and tangles. The name in my head sounded like one that could roll off the tongue if said aloud.
I'm sure it's no surprise for me to say I primarily favor Marvel.
I primarily favor fantasy/adventure. More details here.
Top 5 fandoms would have to include Marvel, Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I have indeed written original characters, but most of them have been isolated to very small corners of both the Net and, by now, my own mind. I do have a lot of narration for Gargonn and Nasim, a master/apprentice duo I created for D&D.
I like using Tumblr for RP to meet like-minded people and talented writers. There are a LOT of y'all. It's a privilege to read what you write, and to participate in cooperative writing bits!
Natalie Dormer was the first FC to be 'ruined' for me. More details here.
My first FC was Benedict Cumberbatch for Dr. Strange, and that was on my prior handle of scalpelandwand. Not hard to see why, since he plays the character and is so incredibly compelling as him.
I'm most comfortable RP'ing in the 25 - 32-ish range. More details here.
I may be about to commit blasphemy here, but there's a redemption arc. I, at first, did not like Andrew Garfield as a FC for Peter Parker / Spider-Man. It's nothing personal against him, nor even really against his portrayal. I happen to think he was fantastic in the role. But I did feel the TASM movies needed a little more depth. I was concerned that if I FC'ed Andrew for my particular Spidey, I would be beholden to TASM canon in the eyes of my peers, and it's just not my favorite. However... after the events of No Way Home, and also several conversations with friends and acquaintances who thoroughly adore Peter in his many forms, I've come around to realizing that not only is Andrew a terribly worthy face to claim (and very easy to find pics or GIFs for in the event I want them), most of my peers are not judging my characters on their FC's, but on my portrayal of them. So although my Spidey began with a FC of Yuri Lowenthal, I switched him to Andrew after about a year on here.
Off the top of my head, I'm really struggling to think of a FC that I first loved and now hate. I could offer one that I started off neutral towards and roll my eyes at nowadays? Dylan O'Brien. I've seen a Stiles or three (dozen) around here, but he's claimed for a range of other OCs and canon characters as well, and... I dunno, sometimes I just get tired of seeing his face on my dash. Chris Evans exists on the edge of this realm as well. And it's not like I don't get it, I do, these guys are way too pretty to not use.
As for myself, I honestly don't think I have a faceclaim that I'm "waiting" for. I don't create OC's or write canon characters because my concept of them includes a particular likeness. That might actually be the last thing to occur to me in the concept design of a character. (More than a couple of my favorite characters aren't human anyway!) In fact, it's only as I'm writing this very line that I've thought of anyone I might want to use as a faceclaim, and that's Doug Jones. But anybody who knows Doug Jones knows there's a caveat to this selection -- it's hardly ever his face we see.

for the fandom+fc meme: hoyeon jung & dc? — @xoteajays
Anything for you, my dear TJ <3.
Tumblr media
NAME: Chelsea Choi.
LOVE INTEREST: Stephanie Brown.
SUMMARY: Due to an accident that occurred when she was eight and visiting her experimental physicist father at his lab, Chelsea has wound up with several nasty scars twisting across her abdomen and stomach, all the way down to her waist. But she'd also, due to the experiment her father had been conducting before his machine had exploded, gotten something a lot better - the ability to phase through solid objects and even sometimes people, if she could only concentrate enough. These days, she made sure to put that ability to good use, sneaking around the streets of Gotham at midnight in a handmade costume and mask and phasing through the walls of bank vaults, ready to make off with as much money as she could carry to give back to the city's less fortunate, including her own family. She's come to be known as Specter by Gotham's media, but to Batman and his extended family of heroes, she's just another thief to catch... until Spoiler finally catches her and recognizes Chelsea's voice from her college classes, making the whole matter even more complicated than it already was.
OTHER INFO:
Well, we all love a good complicated WLW relationship, don't we?
Basically Chelsea's father lost his job since his machine caused the explosion that gave her her powers and no other lab would hire him, so now her family is barely scraping by and Chelsea has to turn to stealing with her powers while still going to university during the day, helping out her family and also donating the rest of what she steals to other poor families.
Stephanie catches her stealing one night and recognizes Chelsea's voice, but she can't say that she knows who she is because then Chelsea might figure out her true identity, so she's forced to let her go, and then this starts months of cat-and-mouse chases where Chelsea keeps getting away and Steph finally realizes why she's been stealing in the first place.
Eventually Stephanie reveals her identity and promises to help Chelsea's family and all the other families she helps (courtesy of the allowance Bruce gives her despite her not even being one of his kids), and even convinces Chelsea to become a member of Batman's little vigilante family. Tim, of course, promptly uses this as an opportunity to matchmake for his bestie, and it works!
Chelsea is also really insecure about the scars the accident left her with, but I am definitely imagining a scene where Steph finds her without a shirt on and traces her fingers over Chelsea's scars and calls her beautiful and AHHHH THEY'RE SO SOFT.
send me a fandom + a faceclaim and i'll create an oc!!

Recommend us 5 rp blogs
Tumblr media
I know I've gotten this one before, but I've forgotten which 5 I recommended! That's all right, I guess, I'll just go for the first five off the top of my head:
1) @willoughbyofgaia -- This OC blog is all about a terribly sweet and generous alien woodland sprite, Willoughby, from the living sanctuary planet Gaia. Will has a unique relationship with Thanos, so don't badmouth the Mad Titan in his presence! Beyond that, the attitude you give is the attitude you receive, and it's a pleasure to see Will interacting with... really, just about anybody. The mun is an absolute sweetheart, too!
2) @sigynthevictorious -- An account which represents the wife and offspring of Loki (either Marvel Universe or Norse legend), who are far more than just what those identifiers imply. Sigyn, Vali, and Narfi are each full-fledged characters, all of them distinctive, rich, and enrapturing. I've followed this talented mun since long before I had the Tangleweave account, and I never cease to be amazed at her skill with the written word... nor just how very engaged she is in creating stories and plots!
3) @illbringthechaosmagic -- This indie blog is dedicated to Wanda Maximoff, and represents a version of Wanda that strives for goodness, justice, and lasting companionship, but frequently stumbles in the most relatable ways. Anyone would see themselves in this character. If you want a Wanda that's consistent, believable, fierce, and kind, this is the one you're looking for. The mun is a fantastic person for whom there is no such thing as too many threads!
4) @morgansmornings -- Jayden Morgan is an OC that defies easy description, because she's a multi-layered character that blooms as the plot thickens. She's amazingly insightful, and manages to be all the things you need her to be, but because she doesn't care to show off, you might not realize or appreciate it until the pressure's on. Whether baking cakes or recruiting suicide squads, Jay's got your number. The mun is twice as sweet as any of her muse's cakes, and must be protected at all costs -- be kind! shakes finger at the masses
5) @brooklynislandgirl -- I can't possibly say enough about the OC Beth Riley or her mun. Beth is a quiet, compassionate, willful nurse that wields staggering powers, and harbors a vast array of family secrets that would knock you down as surely as any of her abilities. She is a character whose origins and history have been so meticulously crafted, and whose family of faceclaims have been so carefully curated, it's hard to believe she doesn't actually exist somewhere. Her accent is painstakingly represented in her dialogue. No matter what verse you find her in, it's crystal clear she is a labor of love. In addition, the mun's writing acumen is nothing short of wondrous, and I consider it a true privilege to write with, and be inspired by, such talent.
