~Metal Family headcanons~

These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf

Glam

Bisexual

Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.

He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.

Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.

Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.

He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.

This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.

This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.

Vicky

Also bisexual!

Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)

She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?

She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.

She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.

Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.

Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.

Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.

Heavy

Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.

Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.

I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.

Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.

He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!

Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.

Dee

I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.

Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.

Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.

The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.

Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.

He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.

Ches

Pansexual.

He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?

Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?

Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.

More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.

Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.

Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.

Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.

Yep, time for unshameful shipping nonsense again! Full story under the cut!

Upsy Daisy was a lovely and totally unexpected surprise for Fluttershy and Discord. The couple where both delighted and terrified at the prospect of being parents. Admittedly, they were so sure that they were absolutely careful so this sort of thing wouldn’t happen.

But who cares? We’re having a baby!

Oh, sweet Celestia! We’re having a baby!

However, Discord soon realised that Fluttershy would not be around forever and perhaps his unborn child too. But he would. After they were gone, he would be on his own forever. As much as the thought of that pained him, he wasn’t sure giving Fluttershy and their child immortality would  be the right answer. What if they missed their family? Their friends? He loved them too much to put them through the same pain. Yet, the idea of death scared the living daylights out of him. What was he to do?

So when he proposed to Fluttershy, he gave her a choice. The moment the two were married, Discord would cast a spell of her choice and only her choice. One spell would make Fluttershy and the baby immortal. The other would make Discord mortal and though he would keep all his powers, it meant he would age the same rate as Fluttershy and he would die the same moment she did, tying their lifelines together.

After a very long and emotional discussion, the pair came to the mutual agreement that Discord would cast the spell that would make him mortal. He was scared, but he would do it. For Fluttershy.

Right?

The wedding was held on a glorious sunny day at the Sweet Feather Sanctuary, eleven months after Daisy was born. Ponies, creatures and, of course, animals from all over attended the event. It was a perfect day and there was hardly a dry eye in sight.

The mortal spell was cast in the rings. Fluttershy slipped Discord’s ring on his claw and Discord placed Fluttershy’s ring (which was attached to a chain) around her neck. Discord initially hesitated before he gave her the ring and for a very brief moment, everyone thought he was going to bail. Fluttershy knew what he was thinking and placed a hoof on his paw, giving him an understanding look. With that, Discord took a deep breath and placed the chain around her neck. The spell was cast. No turning back.

Before sealing their marriage with a kiss, baby Daisy, who was placed on her grandma’s lap, got impatient and wriggly. She teleported right between them, surprising them and making everyone laugh. The adorable moment and Fluttershy cooing at their daughter brought a happy tear to Discord’s eye.

As he kissed his new wife, he knew he had made the right choice.

Notes;

Although you can’t see it here, Discord is wearing a kilt. Why? Because he initially wanted to wear a dress but Rarity convinced him into a kilt as a substitute.

Fluttershy and Discord are wearing Daisies to represent their daughter.

Fluttershy was the second to last to get married out of the main six. In order, it was Rarity (to Fancy Pants) Applejack (to Rockhoof) Twilight and Pinkie (to each other) and after Fluttershy, Rainbow (to Spitfire).

SCHOOL DAZE THOUGHTS

We have now reached the 8th season of the show. The 2nd to last season before things are over for good. We only have 50 episodes left after this two-parter now. Let’s hope they can make at least most of those count.

Every season opener of MLP tends to set the tone and/or set up some kind of arc throughout the season. And this season’s theme seems like it will center around this School of Friendship Twilight opens up just a day or more after the end of the Movie.

Which speaking of which, oh yeah in case there was ANY sort of doubt that the movie was going to be canon to the show or at the very least be given the Equestria Girls treatment of “Ignore it ever happened, not even a significant character name drop”. Within the FIRST TEN SECONDS they explicitly reference something that happened in the movie. About 30 seconds in, Tempest is mentioned and even told what she’s doing while also telling why she likely won’t appear much if at all this season (I suppose the real reason is they probably couldn’t afford Emily Blunt for too long but good to have something in-universe at least). Reminder that we still have not heard Sunset Shimmer get named in any episode of the main show while within the first minute of the first episode that takes place chronologically after the movie both references events and names a significant character. That’s the clear proof you need to determine a movie canon. Equestria Girls might be considered canon by the Staff and by now probably accepted as such for the most part by the fandom as well. But until something like Sunset appearing or at least mentioned in the main show, or at the very least the mirror makes a cameo appearance in the spot it does in Twilight’s castle. Then there’s going to remain that little seed of doubt of Equestria Girls may not be canon the main show. But in it’s own universe where the main show is canon to it. Even the appearance of the Sirens in the Season 7 Finale, while surely significant is hardly as confirming as what the first minute of this episode did for the MLP Movie. I’m not saying myself that EQG is non-canon, as by now I think it’s at least a little clear that it is. But they haven’t made it any easier to really say EQG has much of an impact on the main show. There’s room to doubt events of the EQG series happened, there isn’t any for the MLP movie after the first minute of this episode.

But anyway, time to get to the point of the episode. Twilight is opening a friendship school that isn’t just for ponies, but also many other races/species in Equestria in an attempt to spread the ponies way of friendship to regions outside of Equestria. It’s an interesting idea, time will tell how it all goes down. There’s some execution of it that might be a little questionable by making all of the Mane 6 the only teachers in the school. Some have already brought up that obviously some of the Mane 6 already have full-time jobs of some sort. Rainbow’s a Wonderbolt who’d likely have to be called in for shows and such sometimes, Rarity owns a business so weighing that and being a teacher sounds kinda difficult, AJ works on a farm with so many chores to do, etc. Perhaps it could of been better if they had included more teachers other then the Mane 6 to have available, mainly already fully established characters. I can’t exactly speculate which ones would work as some may have the same issues of bringing in some of the Mane 6 as teachers. Another solution would be to have new characters, but that does come with the problem of character overload. There was already a lot of new characters with the students as well as the EEA’s leader. Imagine having a full slate of new characters for the purposes of teaching as well. That’d be an absolute nightmare to try to cram that all in a 44 minute special in terms of introducing both teachers and students. At least with the Mane 6 we already know them well, even if that comes to the detriment that there would be cases where the characters would be far too busy to teach. But maybe they’ll have substitutes for when they can’t come in? That could be a potential solution. Overall though we’ll just have to see how this season plays it off and maybe even how the Final Season coming up continues on with the school as things wrap up to overall determine how well they execute this idea. It has potential for some fun stuff, but it could also turn up to be a disappointment. We’ll see how things go down.

On to the EEA though, I’ll touch on a certain subject later in this thing with them. But right from the get go when Twilight is giving her presentation you can tell something’s not quite right with the committee. And that’s before we find out about something later in the episode. Besides the admittedly hilarious closeness to one of the most despised gaming companies (Or even companies in general) EA, it’s mostly old ponies giving a skeptical glare as whomever is presenting their idea. Chancellor Neighsay (Voiced by the well-renowned voice actor Maurice LaMarche, famous for being the voice of The Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Neighsay’s voice is even strikingly similar, though not exactly like The Brain’s) being the towering figure that him alone sounds like he just has that exterior about him of a really skeptical person. He skims through Twilight’s proposal, and then presumes that Twilight’s school is about protecting the ponies way of life from dangers rather then Twilight’s plan of having Ponies get to know different creatures from outside Equestria. This obviously foreshadows the big plot point with Neighsay later, but I’ll get to that when I get to that.

But anyway time to get to the new students! I’ll leave a thoughts on each of them

Sandbar: I think I need to get to know Sandbar in more episode to really know what he’s about. But he’s fine thus far. And hey for once Vincent Tong gets to voice a character that’s NOT a love interest nearly universally hated by the fandom! (In case you’ve forgotten, he’s voiced not just Flash Sentry, but also Prince Blueblood and Feather Bangs)

Gallus: Gallus seems like a neat griffon granted he’s going to be a bit jerkish being that’s what most Griffins seem to be. But he’s obviously going to be the Dash in the group of friends in terms of sticking up for them when they need him.

Yona: A clumsy Yak that has a few endearing qualities for sure, I know not everyone’s a big fan of the Yaks, but I feel Yona may have potential to be more tolerable then most of the other yaks.

Smoulder: AKA The newest ship for Spike pretty much. Maybe some people thought Ember is just a little too old for Spike. If so, then Smoulder might be their answer. She’s obviously still older then Spike but she’s still closer to his size. So might make it a bit easier to see a ship between them.

Ocellus: Well ain’t she a pretty adorable changeling. Not too bad design for a nu-changeling either. Plenty of potential of fun situations for a recurring changeling character so we could see some good things from her later too.

Silver Stream: She’s perhaps my favorite out of the multi-species six. And not just because she’s connected to the seaponies from the movie. She’s full of energy, and her excitement for mundane things like stairs is charming and meant as kind of an odd to the fish out of water tropes we saw back in The Little Mermaid when forks were called Dinglehoppers. I’m certainly excited to see more of her after this two-parter

As we progress we get the natural events of what happens when a school about making friends seem to focus more on being a boring normal school with teaching guidelines that doesn’t quite work for every one of the students. Especially the non-ponies involved. And the group we saw earlier skip out on what happens to be the most important day for Twilight to show the EEA how things are progressing. But what happens as a result when Neighsay discovers the non-pony student that is no doubt a big subject that anyone surrounding the very volatile political climate right now could see this as quite awkward.

There’s no way around it, Neighsay is pretty much a racist. As soon as he sees there are non-pony students he sees Twilight as not going by his standards that the positive teaching be meant only for Ponies. And thinks other species are not as capable of learning friendship like Ponies can. There have been episodes before that are vaguely or could be considered from a point of view a bit political. Some episodes even are hit with political controversy even if that might of not been the intention. But it feels like in this case it is very intentional, especially in this volatile political climate. This is very much the equivalent of a high-up bureaucrat shutting a school down because the school is allowing students from places that either been enemies in the past or have otherwise rejected co-operation that benefits their country more and letting them mingle with those inside the country. I wouldn’t be surprised if in many red states if their parents were watching the episode with their kids. They’d turn off the TV and tell their kids to do something else knowing very well what this episode was implying. I wouldn’t even be surprised if there are kids who are now no longer allowed to be watching the show or buying MLP toys because their parents see this episode as attacking political beliefs. It honestly makes Neighsay perhaps one of the most realistic, and because of that one of the more scarier antagonists in the show. Neighsay’s not exactly a villain, he’s not trying to take over the world but he’s nonetheless someone with beliefs that is at odds with the message of Friendship for all that the ponies often try to send. And it’s likely he’s probably not the only pony in Equestria like that if he got such a high position. Despite the ponies having dropped their racism in the past for each other’s type since Hearth’s Warming Eve. It seems to have shifted at least for some regarding non-pony species. There’s some understandable reasons why for ponies to distrust them such as Dragons terrorizing ponies, Changelings only having recently been made mostly good but the Canterlot invasion as well as kidnapping all the princesses and the rest of the Mane 6 is likely still a sore spot about them, Yaks are destructive and don’t have the best tempers, Griffons seem non-caring about a lot of things, etc. But in a society that seems to be easily forgiving, apparently there’s some ponies unwilling to give the same 2nd chance that they gave formerly evil ponies even if they did worse things then any of the non-pony species did. Looking at Starlight especially, nearly ripped the ENTIRE present timeline but is given no more then a slap on the wrist, yet we don’t see Neighsay challenge the fact she’s involved with the school. He demonstrates far more anger that they just included non-pony species into the school when those students themselves and even the older representatives that brought them there didn’t really do anything to harm Equestria. It’s this very type of hypocritical feeling that has come out in recent political firestorms.

I don’t want to get too further in this, as I’ve for the most part avoiding posting about politics on my modblog. I do not want to get into any political debates, that’s not what I use Tumblr for even though there are certainly a lot of blogs that ARE very heavy political wise on Tumblr. But that’s not why I chose to use Tumblr. I just want to have fun giving my thoughts on things I’m excited for and episodes of MLP, and making fun little sprite comics of stories I want to tell. This is a brief escape from the minefield that is today’s politics where there’s no winning no matter where you stand. I’m only mentioning this now, because it’s kind of an unavoidable subject after this episode. There’s just no sugarcoating it to the point we can deny it’s at least somewhat political.

Heading into Part 2, I did really like the scene of Twilight trying to be cheered up by her friends. It doesn’t exactly work, but it really shows how much Twilight cared about the school that not even her friends could do much to really help how down she feels that her school was closed. It’s an entertaining scene to me too. Can’t exactly pinpoint why. But it’s a good scene.

Small note, but I found it amusing Pinkie has a themed cannon for each of her friends. Even Starlight and Spike. I don’t even know why she does, but it’s funny.

A fun note to see that the throne room in Celestia’s castle (Or should we say Celestia and Luna’s) has changed to the look it has in the movie. Luna finally has her own throne again and everything. Kinda cool.

And what will undoubtedly be the meme of the episode, Silverstream’s fascination with Stairs. Although there are a few occasions that maybe Silverstream should of seen Stairs earlier. Like in the school or even earlier in the same castle they were hiding in. And I believe the Mane 6 go down a pretty huge amount of stairs to find the entrance to the sea pony kingdom. Though I think maybe the reason for that is for most of Silverstream’s life she was a sea pony. We don’t know how long the Storm King was threatening the places outside Equestria. It could very well be an entire decade. Long enough for Silverstream to mostly see things that were underwater rather then the stuff that is normal on the surface.

Speeding up a little, we know Twilight and the others find the students. And then stand up to Neighsay. (Though Maurice has already said this won’t be the last we see of him) And finally get the School put in the direction that it should be. Setting up the rest of the season with the new non-pony characters that I think at least a few will become new fan favorites. It’s a nice start to the season, some things certainly got political and that’s not going to be an easy conversation no matter what. But we got some neat new characters and the rest of the season to look forward to.

Hello diary, today has passed as always SUPER PUPER cool. I helped Applejack with delicious apple pies, Rainbow with her new stunt tricks and followed Rarity's cat, from her I had a couple of scratches, because she does not have much character, well, and many more things. I'm very happy because soon the day is warming hearth. This holiday is very cool, we have fun with our relatives and give each other presents. I already prepared pies for all my friends.

The first gift that night I gave to Rainbow. It was a delicious banana pie (I adore them). Rainbow said that she did not manage to come to me because she ordered it by mail. I was not upset at all, because, most importantly, attention. When I gave my gift to Rainbow, she made a slightly disgusted face, but she pretended that she was glad.

I gave pies to the rest of my friends. We began to dance, and I sat down in a chair and began to argue in my head. Why did Rainbow not like my present? What's wrong? Maybe she doesn't like me anymore?No, what do I think?

I guess she's just not in the mood ...

Today I invited all my friends home for the celebration of the TBHATHD. It means - The Best Holiday After the Hearth Day. I joyfully handed over the brilliant invitations to everyone and waited for them to come. 3pm

Nobody here. Why did not anyone come? I looked sadly at the wall and hoped that at least someone would come. I hear the ringing of the golden bell on our door.

- Fluttershy? Hello! Come quickly.

I still wondered why Dash did not like my gift.

Today was a wonderful day. I arranged a party ... I invited her best friend Rainbow to her. She finally flew in. I gave her some delicious tea and somehow she fell asleep after that ... I carried her to the party room and started the game. I tied her to the wall with ropes, carefully cut her throat and cut her stomach. She so screamed with joy. I was very attracted by her rainbow tail, he was so shining in the light. I cut off her mane and tail with a sharp movement, made myself a beautiful rainbow scarf. Thank you, dear Dash, for the gift, he has already come to me ... Hihi. We must invite more guests to have fun as well as Rainbow

Today I woke up and looked lazily at the calendar. My head hurt badly, my body could hardly move. Wait, it's the fifth of January? Where have I been three days? I looked at my hooves, they had red marks on them ... Is that blood? We must go to our friends.

I'm going to Twilight. I slowly enter the castle, all the friends are sitting there.

I thought we were calling somewhere again. Wait, where's Rainbow? I said hello to my friends and sat down in my place. Twilight started to say:

-I gathered you here to tell you that one of our friends was missing

Everyone looked at each other.

- Rainbow? - I muttered, my body was very tired, my head was bursting with pain.

-Yes you are right

-I do not know where she might be, I flew to her today for my book, but she was not at home, I searched all Ponyville and Cloudsdale, asked all the ponies, but she's nowhere. I hope she is alive ... I left the castle, thought about what was happening on the way home. When I came, I decided to look carefully at my diary, saw several torn pages and small traces of blood...

IMPORTANT INFO/THOUGHTS ON THE RECENT BIG MLP LEAK

NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO SPECIFIC SPOILERS IN THE INITIAL PART OF THIS NOTE THOUGH SOME IMPORTANT FUTURE STUFF THAT I THINK IS WORTH MENTIONING SO WE CAN PREPARE FOR IT WILL BE OUTLINED. IF YOU WANT TO AVOID ANY KIND OF SPOILERS REGARDING SEASON 8 AND/OR EQUESTRIA GIRLS. DO NOT CLICK AFTER THE BREAK.

Hey everyone, this weekend we surely got a big shake up in news recently with a huge leak that contains plans for the future of MLP from as early as next year for Season 8 to as late as 2020-2021. Now I won’t mention any specifics right out in public view. I’ll keep some thoughts on what I know for after the break. So if you don’t mind delving into what was revealed and are curious of what my impressions are on things. Then feel free to check after the break. Otherwise, ignore it if you’re in no mood for any spoilers right now.

There are however a few things we now know from this leak that I think is especially important to know. I don’t count it as a spoiler because this is the kind of thing that’s always in the back of our minds especially with a show that’s gone on for this long so we can prepare for it : The question of when will it end, and furthermore... what will come after?

According to plans laid out in the leak. Season 9 will be the final season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

And that’s not all, it might very well be the end of Generation 4 as a whole. As concept art of what looks to be the beginnings of a Generation 5 coming in 2020-2021 were revealed as well.

So as it stands, we have at least 2-3 years left of the current show/generation we’ve come to enjoy. With an uncertain future ahead as from what we can gather, already looks to have some odd changes that will certainly at least take many people some time getting used to for those most familiar with G4 (Specifics on why that is will be mentioned below the break)

This is absolutely the biggest takeaway that I think needs to be spread amongst the fandom. So we can properly prepare for the show’s ending. It’ll be sad when the final episode has aired. But I think by then in our hearts we’ll know it had a good run.  9 Seasons, a feature-length movie, and a decently successful spin-off series is going to be a tough act to follow even if G5′s show turns out to be good. The only regret I’d say is I wish the MLP movie we got came sooner in this generation’s lifetime so there could of been a chance at a 2nd movie that could of improved on some things. Or at the very least have a 2nd movie be G4′s true finale to really go out with a bang. Instead, the next movie will serve as the pilot for G5 which will come with some amount of uncertainty.

As for how this effects Genie Twilight related matters. I fully intend to ride it out to the final season and final episode response. And definitely last at least a little after the show has officially ended. I just can’t be 100% sure if I’ll be still going by the time Generation 5 begins. With the end of G4 incoming, I do have to start thinking on ending this blog eventually too. This won’t be until at least 2-3 years from now, alot can change in that time. But nothing lasts forever. I’m full of uncertainty myself about it. I’m not so sure what I’ll move on to after I’m finished. But at least I have a fair bit of time to figure that out.

SEASON 8

- Spike will grow Dragon Wings: I ACTUALLY CALLED THIS BACK IN SEASON 4! (Check at about the 4th frame) I personally think this is cool. I’ve always imagined a fully grown alicorn Twilight riding Spike as a giant flying dragon places

- Twilight starts a friendship school of different species: I think this is a pretty neat idea. I’ll be interested to see where that goes

EQUESTRIA GIRLS

- Sci-Twi will visit Equestria: Oh I am definitely hyped for this, I did kinda want to see a vice-versa of the situation of Twilight in the first EQG movie learning to be human done with Sci-Twi. Glad it will happen. Sci-Twi will even be a unicorn, which is the right call. Even if that will be a little strange since she gets wings when she ponies ups, but in all of making sense she should just be a regular unicorn.  It’d be some strange logic that because one Twilight ascended, her alternate self does too. The only other explanation would be the magic that transformed her into Midnight Sparkle also ascended her. But then Sunset would also have to be an Alicorn after the angel form she got. And that wasn’t exactly the case when she returned to Equestria in the special where she met Starlight

GENERATION 5

- Character design/changes: Now there isn’t much of G5 revealed but just from the character design we can see how this could differ from what we’re familiar with from G4. It looks like the Mane 6 will be back as the concept art showed 4 of the 6. Rarity seems to have been kept in tact. Applejack... certainly has been spruced up quite a bit. And probably not in a way that G4 Applejack would approve of. However the strangest changes seem to be outright race swaps. G5 Fluttershy will be a unicorn. I suppose they wanted a Fluttershy for every main type. Fluttershy’s G1 counterpart was Posey, who was an earth pony. G5 Twilight will go from Unicorn-turned-Alicorn to an earth pony. Also for some reason her eyes are light blue instead of what they usually are. Of the colored concept art we have, Fluttershy and AJ have their previous eye colors but Twilight doesn’t. It’s making me think like if they are merging Twilight and Pinkie in G5. I doubt it as I think Pinkie is probably one of the more marketable characters. But this change might be even more jarring then Applejack’s new design in transition from G4 to G5. It’s also making me think Twilight may not exactly be the MAIN main character in G5. She’ll definitely still be an important character, but probably not the one most focused on. Of course this is all speculation on one concept art pic. And since G5 is still in the conceptual stage alot can change but this will be something that could worry fans jumping from G4 to G5. Feel free to judge for yourself though.

- CGI Animated: I’m a bit sad about this admittedly. It’s not that I hate 3D animation it’s just there’s so much over exposure and would like some degree of 2D animation still around. I just hope that it will be good looking 3D animation. Part of the appeal of FiM was the flash animation we got had appealing enough design and movement that even got better with each season. And of course there was the gorgeousness that was the MLP Movie’s animation. 3D Movies can look good, but I think there’s a lot more cases of it being rather jarring then you get with 2D Animation. We’ll have to see how it’s all executed later. But definitely put this on the list of reasons G4 fans might be uncertain about G5

That’s all I have for now. Overall excited to see what’s coming up in Season 8 but quite uncertain when it comes to many things about G5. This is still a little ways from now, and some things could certainly be subject to change. But given this concerns the end of a show that sparked the massive fandom it did, it’s kind of important to get the subject of how it’ll all end and what will come in place of it sooner rather then later. I’d rather know now then expecting a Season 10 when Season 9 is in progress and caught by surprise when we get the news that it ends soon.

SHADOW PLAY & GENERAL SEASON 7 THOUGHTS

At last we've reached the end of Season 7. And quite an interesting ending to the season if I must say so myself. One things for sure between this finale and the movie (Which has already been confirmed to have some degree of impact on Season 8) there will be plenty of opportunity in Season 8 to build upon.

Before talking about the episode though I have to admit I thought most of the legends or rather what they are called in this episode the pillars of Equestria weren't going to amount to much. I thought they were going to be just one-off stories told in 3 episodes. 3 of them in that one campfire episode, and 2 with their own episodes that tell their stories. I was not expecting them to be important enough to not just get a finale with them but given how it ends it seems we might be seeing them more often next season. Could be interesting in many ways though, not just for them interacting with the Mane 6 and/or Starlight, but also if they'll share more things about the past. It might make it more likely we hear about Celestia and Luna's past if we get an episode of Star Swirl explaining more things from the past. Celesta did mention Star Swirl mentored them after all. It'd certainly be welcomed.

Though one thing that certainly needs to be mentioned that bringing back the pillars also bringing back the Pony of Shadows is a thing that most of us probably saw coming and why Twilight's plan seems rather dumb. Twilight's just lucky the Pony of Shadows is actually just a corrupted, misunderstood pony betrayed by the pillars and not a being of pure evil where sealing in limbo was literally the only option. Though even though this did turn out alright in the end, it doesn't help that between this finale and a certain decision she makes in the movie (More on that later). Twilight has unfortunately been on the low on good plans as of late. Hope she gets a little better at that.

But it's interesting on itself to have Starswirl here. He's been a big part of the show's lore even though until now we only heard his name (Well we did see him in the EQG2 Flashback story but that's it). So it's a pretty big deal that it seems he'll be here to stay.

This is a small note and something you might miss easily. But Spike hands Twilight a book called Seapony Etiquette. Possibly a somewhat connection to of course the movie and/or Season 8. I got to say once again that I'm happy there is canon seaponies one way or another since mermaids are one of my favorite fantasy creatures (2nd to of course, Genies)

Oh yeah and we get perhaps our actual very first "Hey, Equestria Girls happened!" moment in the show. The only thing previous being the Flash Sentry cameos which hardly counts since he barely does anything and Twilight doesn't acknowledge him. But we certainly see the Sirens get banished. Whether this means we get more EQG references in the future is up to debate. I'm sure many in the fanbase would love to see Sunset appear in the show.

When the day is saved we must remember something that Magical Mystery Cure told us about Star Swirl in that he didn't completely get friendship. And the way he treated Stygian is one big example. In that way, Twilight has surpassed Star Swirl.

In many ways this is an interesting and pretty solid finale. Probably the best two-parter since Season 4. Though that's not the only thing that's been the best in a while.

Because I fully believe that Season 7 was a very pleasant surprise. I might even say it's the best season since Season 4. I still love Season 4 too much for 7 to match it. But I'm glad Season 7 went the way it did because it showed to me much of Season 6 may have been a fluke. No season is truly perfect, there's probably a few points in this season I could consider lacking. But I think  can definitely rank 7 in the upper half of my personal ranking of the seasons. I need more time to truly decide where I think it stands but as of now it's either 2nd only to Season 4 or just behind Season 2. And that's not a bad place to be at all. I am very much looking forward to what the next season might bring.

I should probably also give my current thoughts on Starlight. I think I've gotten to the point where I'm getting used to her at last though again I still can't say I look forward to seeing her as I do the main cast yet. I do want to know what exactly they're planning for her since aside from maybe Spike she's the only recurring character that has some kind of goal to reach. I'd still like a little more details of her past though. I think it's vital we know a little more of her history from after Star Burst left and before she took over that village. I'm not going to pretend that I like Starlight enough still, but I must address that the hate for her might be a little extreme at times. I actually feel Season 7 gave the right amount of screen time for her. Back in Season 6 she seemed to only appear when she was important to the plot of the episode. In this season however Starlight actually felt like a natural character, appearing in more episodes even if she wasn't the focus. She appeared in a total of 11-12 episodes this time around. Nearly half the season. I may be far from the biggest Starlight fan in the world but I don't have too many problems with this since a big problem with last season was just about the polar opposite for Starlight's appearances. They seemed to push her aside for most of the season and even when she did appear it was often not as satisfactory to either her fans or the skeptics giving her a chance. I don't think she's entirely stole the show's spotlight but I understand that again very early on it looked like Season 7 was making the show "The Starlight Glimmer Show" due to her frequent early appearances that got compounded by the fact she even got a special episode involving her with Equestria Girls. It slowed down from there though and most of the Mane 6 got good episodes to themselves this season.

I'd say the highlights of this season were Celestial Advice (Finally getting a good glimpse to Celestia), Parental Glidance (RD's parents are fun), Royal Problem (Long-awaited and fun Alicorn Sisters episode), Perfect Pear (Hardly needs to be explained, probably still the shining crown of this season), Fame and Misfortune (Very fun meta episode), Once Upon A Zeppelin (Twi's parents are awesome!), and the very finale I talked about in this thoughts. Might be others I'm missing but regardless it's been a good season. And I eagerly wait to see what's coming, next I still have to get my thoughts out on the movie. But after that the hiatus will be truly on. Though I'm aware that we're getting weekly shorts Equestria Girls wise, though I feel those won't be long enough to really warrant thoughts about.

Aside from MLP in general though Christmas is coming soon and I'll probably be receiving a Switch then. I'm looking forward to Mario Odyssey, Sonic Forces, and many other games that I'll be capable of taking on the go as well as on the big screen. And of course putting many others who have a Switch on the friend list and such. ^^
