Man, Myth, Legend
Tumblr media
You waited and waited and waited some more until Jethro’s voicemail began playing.
“He thinks he’s so clever,” you grumbled to yourself as you sent him a text. Not like he would respond back but at least your two cents was thrown in there.
It was bad enough he made you stay behind with Tony instead of joining him, Ziva and McGee to his HOMETOWN. But now he wants to ignore your calls too? Granted, the calls would have only been you pestering him with all kinds of questions but nevertheless, he should still pick up the phone. What if you were in danger?!
“C’mon Probie. Let’s see if Abby has anything for us,” DiNozzo stated while walking by.
You locked your phone and huffed in annoyance before joining him in the elevator.
“You can stop calling me that Tony. I’ve been working with you guys for like a year now.”
“I know. But I just love how much it bugs you.”
You rolled your eyes at his teasing and followed after him once the doors opened.
Abby gave you two the rundown on the blood analysis before McGee’s face popped up on her screen.
“Gibbs has a father!”
You ran over with Tony while they gave all of you the much needed info on the Gibbses. Jethro had told you he grew up in Stillwater and wasn’t exactly the towns poster child but he never really spoke more than that, let alone about his father.
“I’m coming. I’m leaving,” Tony stuttered.
“Well you’re not going without me,” you added.
“Not unless you’ve found a way that people in town might have thought Ethan LaCombe was alive,” McGee answered right back.”
————
You and Tony sat in the Bullpen, throwing different questions each others way as you wanted for your next orders.
“So do you think he like got ran out of town and that’s why he hasn’t been back?” Tony asked, tapping a pen against his mouth in thought.
“I don’t know but I wouldn’t put it past him if it were true. Do you think his high school girlfriends still live there?”
Tony gave you a puzzled look which you quickly defended.
“I mean I’m just curious since most small town people don’t really move out past their county.”
“I doubt he’s dinner dating with any of his past flings probie. Plus, how is it you don’t know anything about Gibb’s past but you two are together?”
“You know he doesn’t talk much. Especially about his past. It was like pulling teeth when I asked him where he was born!”
As if his ears were burning, your phone began ringing as Jethro’s face popped up on your screen. Making a face for Tony to be quiet, you answered.
“Oh, look at that, you know how to call people all of a sudden.”
“I was busy. Talking with people,” he justified.
“People like your dad? Or the townspeople? McGee said you’re already ruffling feathers.”
“Well McGee needs to stop gossiping. I talked with Chad Winslow and his family. They’re hiding something. I want you and DiNozzo to get a search warrant together for blood samples and financial records.”
“Uh. A please would be nice.”
“Please. Honey,” he charmed, making you smile like a school girl. You’d do anything for him if he added those words afterwards.
“Much better. I’m assuming you won’t be home tonight?”
“No. We’ve got a lot of work to do here and I don’t see anyone being cooperative any time soon.”
You silently pouted but Jethro knew you like the back of his hand.
“Don’t pout. You, Abby and DiNozzo can come tomorrow afternoon. We’ll need help executing those warrants once they’re approved and Abby will need to examine the blood quickly.”
You beamed with excitement, catching Tony’s attention. You both said your goodbyes and Tony came over to give you a high five.
“I’m driving though. You suck at obeying the speed limit,” he established.
“That doesn’t count! Baskin Robbin’s was closing in 10 minutes and you encouraged me!”
————
We pulled up to the scene of the crime as smoke was still slowly coming from the wreckage. Thank God no one was in the car when it exploded. Jethro hasn’t even been in town more than 2 days and people are already trying to blow him up!
You gave McGee and Ziva a greeting before following Tony in the little store. It was stuffy and warm but the place was cute with all the natural lighting and small town vibes.
You and Tony saw an older man standing behind the register whom you could only assume was Jethro’s dad based on the eyes.
Just as Tony went to introduce himself, Jethro came from the back and interrupted. As they both talked, you made your way over to the counter.
“Hi, I’m Y/N.”
“Jackson Gibbs. Leroy told me about you but he left out just how stunning you were,” he flirted as you two shook hands.
“I see where Jethro gets his charm from.” you two chuckled together before Jethro came over looking displeased.
We took the rental to Jackson’s house as he led us to the garage where the most beautiful Dodge Charger sat.
“That’s right. I said we.”
You hopped in the backseat as Jethro peeled out onto the street like a bat out of hell, passing the shocked faces of the team and sporting the biggest grin on his face.
At the Winslow house, Jethro advised you to stay behind with Senior.
“Fine by me. Someone’s got to tell me what the great Leroy Jethro Gibbs was like as a kid,” you jested as he rolled his eyes and shook his head.
You sat on the porch steps with Jackson as he started the conversation first.
“I’m glad Leroy found someone again. You know after Shannon and Kelly, I thought he’d never find love again. But you seem to make him happy.”
“I try. And he makes me happy. It hasn’t been years but I think we’re good for each other.”
“I just don’t understand how you two even came about. Someone like you, so beautiful and elegant should be dating someone similar. Like that DiNozzo guy.”
You laughed at the thought of you and Tony together.
“Jethro is much more sensitive and approachable than people think. And Tony? No, he’s far too..rockstar for me. Jethro just has that personality that grounds you and uplifts you at the same time. I’ve never felt it with anyone before.”
“Spoken like someone truly in love,” he stated with a smile.
You blushed at the thought and you two continued talking until it was time to leave.
Back at the store, McGee and Abby went over their findings as you stood next to Jethro, your hand brushing against his. You saw a small smirk appear on his face as he listened.
It wasn’t long before you guys had enough evidence to arrest Nick Kingston and his 2 accomplices and telling the awkward news of Ethan being Emily’s brother. You all stayed the night at Jackson’s place as he told you all stories of his great adventures before leaving the next morning.
“You’ve got a good one here Leroy. Don’t let her go,” Jackson praised to his son as he looked at you.
“Oh I don’t plan on it.”
You gave Jackson a farewell hug as he gave the Charger keys to Jethro and stuck your tongue out at Tony when you were the chosen passenger.
In the car, you pulled him in for a kiss and smiled. “I like your dad. We should come see him again soon.”
Jethro just shook his head and smiled before driving off.

Sailing | Part 1
Tumblr media
Leroy Jethro Gibbs [Y/N] Reader
Well it's not far down to paradise At least it's not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Baby believe me, oh
Tim, Tony and [Y/N] all knew that their father had built his first boat for his family.
He had built it in their backyard and built a canopy over it when it finally became too large to cover with a tarp. His wife Shannon would sit and talk with him as he worked and his children Tim, Tony, [Y/N] and Kelly all would help.
He was going to take them all out sailing on its inaugural voyage; and named the boat The Family Gibbs. He was going to build four smaller versions – for Tim, Tony, [Y/N] and Kelly – when they were big enough to go boating on their own. Some of Jethro’s most peaceful times as a young boy; after his mother’s death – due to cancer – had been spent on the water, he hoped to share those memories with his wife and their children.
‘I’M CRAZY, right? Shannon – I mean; I have to be absolutely, certifiably mad to take this boat trip!’
Jethro had been having the same thought for weeks, but today is the first time he’s saying it out loud – screaming it, actually, at the top of his lungs.
‘No, you’re not crazy,’ says Shannon, being her usual calm self. ‘On the other hand; are you biting off more than you can chew, Jethro?’
‘But don’t I always?’ he replies.
‘Yes,’ she says, ‘for as long as I’ve known you.’
Shannon knew that her husband Jethro; lived on caffeine, adrenaline, and relentless sixteen-hour shifts at NIS – Naval Investigative Service – since being a marine; he just didn’t have the time or patience for anything, except his lovely boat building.
‘It’s not that I’m weighing in against the boat trip; Jethro. In fact, I think it’s a great idea,’ she says.
‘My only concern is how much hope you’re pinning on it. What if doesn’t work?’
‘That’s easy,’ Jethro tells her. ‘I’ll hack it to pieces.’
‘Well,’ says Shannon; straight-faced as a marine wife could get. ‘It’s good to know you have a plan B.’
Shannon’s right, though. I am pinning a lot of hope on this boat trip, maybe too much.
Only I can’t help it.

Sex Education Season 4 Review
Unfortunately it wasn’t as good as the others. It’s less that it was bad or that I didn’t enjoy it, and more that it sort of failed in its duties as a finale. I really liked the finale, it wasn’t until I finished it that I was left like… that’s it?
Starting with the Pros: I’m glad they had the sense to end it here. This season has gotten hated on pretty hard so far, which makes sense, but isn’t quite deserved. Even though it wasn’t as good as it COULD’VE been, it was still good! In particular, Aimee, Eric, and Adam had wonderful and satisfying arcs which I found quite compelling and felt like a lovely send off to each of their characters. Maeve’s ending, despite being a point of controversy, was fitting. She had a difficult but moving season, and her destiny was always to be a writer. As disappointing as it is that she doesn’t end up with Otis, I thought the writers justified it quite well. It would’ve simply felt wrong for her to stay back in Moordale just for Otis. She was always going to get out.
This brings me to the Cons. I have to say, my biggest disappointment with this season has to be Otis himself. Being the lead character, I really wish they would’ve chosen a more personal storyline with more depth to it to send off his character. Instead, they had him acting like a child the whole season. He’s the primary character and yet he has the least interesting, least sympathetic, least moving storyline. It was all about his relationships with Maeve, Ruby, and Eric, and his competition with O. Nothing really about him. They didn’t give enough closure as to how his future looks- he’s no longer the school sex therapist, which is disappointing. He agreed to think about working with O, but that’s all, and that isn’t the most satisfying conclusion. They left him in a very nondescript place. Additionally, many former cast members weren’t in this season. As a result, I felt that there were a number of missed opportunities. My other big complaint is, predictably, the change in setting and new cast of characters. I really didn’t love the new school. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that too much, it was just kind of over the top in a way that felt misplaced and unrealistic. As for the new characters, most of them weren’t bad, they were just unnecessary. The one character I did have an issue with was O, who was a rather grating presence. Which I don’t think was something all that good for a finale. I didn’t find her character at all interesting or sympathetic. She was really annoying, and didn’t grow on me at all over the course of the season.
To sum things up, I wish the writers had just focused on the characters they had already. The new characters weren’t as interesting (naturally), and I thought the season could’ve benefitted from more of a personal journey for the characters we already know and love- such as Otis, Jackson, Ruby, or Viv. When a show ends, I always really like to have some closure on where each of the characters are headed in the future, such as new passions, future relationships, careers, etc. While again, they did a lovely job with this with a few characters, there were a lot of characters who just left me unsatisfied (namely the aforementioned 4). I enjoyed the ending, but it left me feeling like a lot of precious time was wasted with new characters and misplaced storylines. It didn’t feel as though the writers quite understood how important this season was, and failed to treat certain characters with the care they deserved.

hello everyone!! i just finished the last season of sex education, so here i am making a review.
the first two or three episodes were boring af, i literally enjoyed only the scenes where Adam, Jackson or Ruby appeared. let me say that i can barely stand Otis, Maeve and Eric, so i didn’t enjoyed that much half of the season (lmao) so i’m not gonna mention them, i just want to say that they’re all been so selfish and didn’t care about their loved ones: Otis was too much into becoming the only educator in school, Maeve was focused on staying in america and the funeral of her mom, and Eric was too focused on being accepted into the popular group; but anyway, let’s move on: i liked a lot how they handled the relationship between Adam and his family, in fact i cried watching every scene where Adam was in (yes i’m a bit ashamed ahah). another thing i liked was the personage of Jackson: he was always there for Viv, he tried his best to protect her. but i didn’t like how they handled the situation with Cal, it was like he was so distant and he didn’t care at all about them, it was sad to watch. the personage of Ruby had a lot of potential, but they decided to put her aside and give her the role of “manager” which was very marginal for the story. the new personages were so useless, except for the deaf girl; yeah i mean, they had a role, but idk they didn’t convinced me at all. another thing that didn’t convinced me at all was the school, i mean, where do you find a so perfect institute? and how come that the only problem is the elevator that is not working? please tell me where LOL :) it was definitely too much perfect and visionary. the last words are for the personage of Jean, she’s been everybody’s mom for a while, and i’m so happy that she find the power to ask for help, and her sister too, finally they can be together and be happy and have therapy!!! that’s amazing.
i guess i’ll miss every personage of this series a little bit, but their journey went too far away for me, this is the perfect final for them, nothing has to change.
if you are still reading, thank you! i hope you like my review, see you next time :) -jus

Sailing | Part 2
Tumblr media
Leroy Jethro Gibbs [Y/N] Reader
That’s what can happen when your family is falling to pieces before your eyes and you believe that it’s your entire fault.
Then their mother; Shannon and their sister Kelly were killed. Their father Jethro as promised to Shannon all those years ago – hacked the boat to pieces. The problems had kicked in when Shannon and Kelly died from being shot by a sniper to prevent Shannon from testifying - she had witnessed a murder – the van and the agent who was driving the vehicle; rolled over, effectively trapping them.
It was a devastating shock for the family, a day shy of six weeks – that hadn’t mattered to him. Blindsided with grief, he caved without protesting though; Shannon’s mum had begged them all to stay. Shannon’s mom, Joanne, was an attorney.
At any rate; Shannon and Kelly’s death was even worse for our remaining three children; Tim, Tony and [Y/N]. I just didn’t realize it at first – maybe I was too self-centred. Although for some daft reason I really thought the rest of our family would all rally around; that we’d pull through by pulling together.
Shannon was of course the family’s anchor; she was almost always there; while I was more often than not at NIS or at least on call. Without Shannon around; Tim, Tony and [Y/N] became their own little islands. Tim and [Y/N] were geeks playing video games on their laptops, Tony playing basketball. They were angry, confused, and worse – they wanted very little to do with me – not that I could blame them.
But that’s all about to change. At least I hope so – desperately.  I’m taking a two-month leave of absence from NCIS – they changed it to this a month ago.
Their father had refused to consider it and Joanne had been supremely frustrated, when their father Jethro had gone robot. He was an ex-marine and he hadn’t fought, hadn’t argued, he had simply surrendered.
Their grandfather; Jackson Gibbs had ordered his son; Jethro and his grandchildren to pack and arrange six tickets, to include his grandson’s girlfriends to a teeny tiny airstrip located, near a marina. He lived about ninety minutes away from the airport, alone.
Jethro had rebuilt the family boat in the basement because he couldn’t stand his own backyard, alone. He couldn’t sit where he used to sit with Shannon and watch Tim, Tony, [Y/N] and Kelly play, and wasn’t going to sail a boat that had been built with love.
Tim, Tony and [Y/N] figured the rest out for themselves. The three of them figured that the boat is their father’s way of keeping his love for them – for Shannon and Kelly – alive without having to relive their loss. Their father’s boats are a message. A reminder: that anything that can be built can be broken. Nothing their father can build can bring back those boating trips with their mother; Shannon and their sister; Kelly, which they never got to have.

TV Series Discussion: Sex Education
Season 4 (2023)
Tumblr media
Source: Google Images
Insecure Otis has all the answers when it comes to sex advice, thanks to his therapist mother. So rebel Maeve proposes a school sex-therapy clinic.
Source: Netflix (2019)
Absolutely Brilliant
I'll be honest here, I started watching this season with expectations of disappointment only because I knew the one couple I was rooting for was not endgame. That being said, I had no idea what I was going to get from Sex Education's final season.
In this last season, we got some really good stories which ultimately led to great character growth. Some were simply briefly touched on, like Jean's postnatal depression, Jackson finding out the truth behind his sperm donor, Ruby finally figuring out her true identity (kind of), and Viv's experience with an abusive man.
Whereas some took practically the entire show (not just this season) to get an ending. Like Aimee finally being able to recover from her assault, or Cal's struggle to become who they truly were. We also had Otis realising what issues he had and how deep they were rooted. This season also showed us Maeve and exactly how thick the wall she built around herself truly was.
Some of these stories, I particularly enjoyed watching the characters learn and grow from them. Some, really annoyed me. For example, I was never in love with the idea of Maeve and Otis being endgame. As time went on, I just preferred them as friends instead of a couple. As friends, they brought out the good in each other. As a couple, it always felt like Maeve's just holding onto Otis's leash. And I hated how Otis forsaked anybody and everybody once Maeve was around. If you'd watched this season, you could see how bad of a friend, a son and a campaign party he was once Maeve was back in his life. I still don't like the idea of them being a couple but seeing how deep-rooted their individual issues were, it made sense why I always thought them together romantically was problematic but I am not opposed to them coming back together in the far future. Probably why Sex Education's finale struck a chord in my heart, one I did not expect to be struck. Way to go, ambiguous endings.
Now, Adam has been one of my favourite people in this show since he showed his vulnerable side which automatically meant Michael's not exactly likeable. Michael was a toxic father and husband, nobody can object to that. And when Adam told Michael off and finally articulated his unhappiness with his father, I was so proud of my dear boy. However, it's the part where Michael said he doesn't hate Adam, he hates himself. That part made me so happy because not only was Michael fully acknowledging he was a bad parent and husband, he also finally gave Adam clarity. My boy has struggled too much and although I hate that he is no longer with Eric, I am absolutely elated Adam's in such a better place both physically and mentally.
Which brings me to my favourite character growth in this season. Eric freaking Effiong. I never thought this person needed more development, then this season came and I was utterly proven wrong. However, it's his story that warmed my heart. I don't think enough people talk about what Eric was going through in season 4. It's something everybody knows, regardless of which side we're on. Yet, we never talk about it or in some cases, act on it. The dilemma, the identity crisis, the forlornness that people like Eric suffer from... It opened my eyes bigger, I was aware before, I am just even more aware now.
Sex Education actually got better as the seasons went on. And season 4 was an excellent finale to it. I know it's not a show for everyone but I think it should be.
Before I say farewell to Sex Education once and for all, I went back to read my reviews for seasons 2 and 3. And wow, my thoughts each season really go back and forth. (Sarcastically) I love the fact that none of my wishes for season 4 happened, at all.
Rating: ★★★★☆
P.S.: I did not realise how much I liked the secondary school teachers until they had that small appearance.
