Good afternoon TUMBLR - April 24th - 2024
''Mr. Plant has owed me a shoe since July 5, 1971."
Atyrau Kazakhstan – Dec 2004 – Oct 2010 - Kashagan Development Project
Part 4
OUR ISRAELI CLIENT After about a year and a half in which we had worked exclusively for AGIP, the so-called Early Works were running out. It thus became necessary for our company to find another client (and therefore other work). An Israeli company named BATEMAN had won the contract for the construction of Utilities & Power Generation for the Karabotan plant, where we had been operating since June 2004. BATEMAN was owned by an Israeli billionaire, with interests in South Africa in the field of gold and diamond mining. Experience in Oil & Gas: 0.00. So, you may ask, how did he manage to obtain a contract worth over 870 million dollars for the construction of an oil plant? Simple, you just need to have the ''right friends''. And Mr. Bateman had many good friends, one of whom was General Colin Powell. Yes, he was the one who presented to the UN the farce of the 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' that Saddam Hussein was ready to use against the West. We then began preliminary meetings to try to obtain at least part of that enormous order. Which came true at the beginning of October 2006, with the signing of an important agreement: we would be the so-called Main Sub Contractor for the Civil - Structural - Mechanical part of the Utilities! A job worth over 140 million dollars! In mid-December the first Bateman representatives arrived, and temporarily settled in a rented villa near our offices in Atyrau. And it was in that house that the ''kick off meeting'' was convened, which marks the official start of a project. We meet to get to know each other, to set rules and objectives, ways of discussing and communicating, etc. We spent an entire afternoon inside that house, together with fifteen Israelis and their leader, an Englishman who won't last long and will be ''kicken away'' by the ''Israeli mafia'' inside Bateman. Eventually we went out into the garden, some to smoke, others to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. At a certain point an Israeli who had participated in the meeting took me aside, with that ''conspiracy behaviour'' way of acting that I would later notice was part of the way many of them behave . So this individual named Zvi takes me by the arm, pulls me into a sheltered corner of the garden and then says:
Listen…I want you to know that of everything that was said this afternoon…few of us understood anything…almost all of us, including me, are ex-servicemen to whom the Government guaranteed a job after their service in the army or in the navy……only some are engineers…….
Really?? – I replied, waiting for the sequel.
Yes it is and you will notice it….
And then?
So I wanted to ask you a favor
Well…if I may…….
I would like you to explain to me what happens on the construction site… maybe I would come to your office for a couple of hours every afternoon… so I could understand… and not be thought of as stupid… especially towards that Mr. Colin… that B<ritish guy …he is only looking for a favorable opportunity to chase us Israelis away, and replace us with his fellows countrymen….
Well come on - I continued - we'll see what I can do… of course I can't assure you anything… but I'll try to give you a hand… I got away with it like this, remaining vague, because being at the beginning of our relationship with the Israelis I didn't know how to manage this thing. I was certainly astonished by Zvi's admission of 'ignorance'. If these were the premises, we were certainly not faced with an easy task with these characters.
OUR CONSTRUCTION BASE
Tumblr media
We had officially become Sub Contractors of the Israelis for an important project. We were therefore authorized by AGIP to build our own compound within the perimeter of the construction site, where the local employees would be accommodated. Unfortunately, our company did not have large financial means, so we had to make do with second-hand housing containers, and the assembly of different modules to create canteens, changing rooms, warehouses, and everything needed to make people live up to 200 people. When the construction of the compound was finished, we underwent visits for testing and inspection evidence by not only the AGIP representatives, but also the officials of a whole series of municipal, regional and state bodies and organisations, whose aim was only one: to earn money and benefits on top of it. The day of the compound inauguration came, and a big party was organized. As Project Manager, I had to undergo a series of quite demanding ''task'', namely:
Pretend to ''help'' the muezzin to cut the throats of the two poor shhep who were sacrificed for the success of the project.
Get up from the head of the table and, after having delivered the usual speech full of rhetoric, show everyone that I was biting the ear of one of the aforementioned sheep.
Show that I appreciate the goodness of one of the sheeep's eye.
In the end I managed to do everything that was asked for (and above all what the Kazakh workers expected of me).
Tumblr media
Mr. BRIAN J - Construction Manager This was another ''veteran'' of some Israeli war, bearded, small, and with one leg put together after having jumped on an anti-personnel mine somewhere in the Sinai. After removing the supply of carpentry from our scope of work (because they found a company in Russia that did it for 2 dollars x ton less than us, they said…) the structures began to arrive on site. Of course many of the beams and columns were wrong, with mistakes in measurements and drillings. So Brain called me and asked to provide a team to unload and check the carpentry and then report all the problems found. A morning I received a strange email from Brian on my cc, in which he asked his supervisor who controls the carpentry delivery to note down and then report to him the times of our crane real use. I called Brian and asked to see him and within 20 minutes I was sitting across from him in his office. Well, Brian was a simple and polite man, so I had to address him with direct questions, so without beating around the bush I ask him:
Brian, when you go from your home to Tel Aviv airport, do you call a taxi?
sure.
And when the taxi is taking you to the airport stops at a red light, or in a queue on the motorway, do you ask the taxi driver to stop the meter?
Ummm…no….
Well, then why did you ask your supervisor to note the downtime of our crane during the unloading work of your carpentry?
………silence …frowning of thick eyelashes……………….
Ahhh…nooo…says Brian – it's not what you think…my request is only for an internal check….
So if it's for an ''internal check'', why did you copy me on the email?
Noo…sorry…it was an Outlook error…
Ok Brian, I wanted to clarify this little setback, have a good day. Once, at a weekly meeting, exasperated by those guys behavior I asked:
But if we have to do everything, what are you doing here on the project?
Their Site Manager replied these exact words: ''To top up the invoices you send us by 25%, and then pass them on to AGIP.''
HITZAK SHKOLNIK The Israeli supervisor who was directly in charge of the carpentry was called Skolnik. Also a veteran of the Yom Kippur War, he was missing two fingers on his right hand, so we immediately nicknamed him ''three fingers''. A man of considerable stature, and with a large belly, weighing around 120 kg. An avid motorcyclist, he was riding his BMW 1200 cc. One day I was on the Istanbul – Atyrau flight (which in the meantime had passed under the aegis of the Air Astana company owned by President Nursultan's daughter) when returning from the toilet I heard a voice saying:
So now you don't say hello to your friends anymore?
I turn to the side where the voice came from - which I had recognized - but I don't see Skolnik, but a tall, thin, emaciated man. Then I look at him better, and I recognize the long scar on his jaw, the aquiline nose and yes! It's really Skolnik!!
Hey man! I teld him – what happened to you? We've not been seeing you for a while!
Yes – he says, shaking my hand with three remaining fingers – I took some time to recover from the stomach operation – can't you see how much shape I've recovered??
In fact I recognized you by your voice, certainly not by your appearance - what happened to the extra kilos?
I lost 47 kg after the operation, and I started using my motorbike again.
Well…happy to see you back, Mr. Skolnik! Unrecognizable…among other things, in cases where an individual loses all those kilos, it is better to always see him dressed…
MACCHI - BOILERS FACTORY - Porto Marghera, Italy Our scope of work on the Utilities project included the assembly of three boilers supplied by MACCHI of Porto Marghera. On the occasion of my return trip to Italy for holidays, a visit to the MACCHI factory was organised, in which, in addition to myself, Mr. D'Ascenzo AGIP Construction Manager and Mr. Marrone on behalf of BATEMAN, were participating. The visit lasted half a day, in which I essentially understood two things:
The first was that the boilers would be supplied in approximately 47,000 pieces/each and we would have to put them all together.
The second is that workplace safety in Italy – at least in July 2007 when our visit took place – was at the level of 3rd world! The enormous MACCHI facory where the boilers were assembled was looking like a Dante's circle of Hell! Full of fumes (and therefore unhealthy for the workers who worked there) there were kilometers of electrical cables on the floor (they were used for the welding machines) the workers smoked while working - and dozens of other dangerous situations that I won't even list: I was shocked ! The factory looked directly onto a canal connected to the open sea, so we witnessed the exit of a huge boiler from the workshop, which was later loaded onto a barge – it would then be transported to the port, and later shipped to Libya. I then asked the AGIP Construction Manager why the same method had not been chosen for our boilers. The answer was:
''MACCHI had made three proposals - the first to send the boilers completely assembled (it had been rejected due to transport problems along the Volga-Don canal).
The second proposal envisaged sending the boilers semi-assembled, i.e. in packages to be assembled on site.
The third proposal consisted of sending the boilers disassembled''.
And why did AGIP opt for the third proposal? I asked
Because it's the cheapest, obviously.
Yes – I said – but then we will have to assemble all those thousands of pieces.
Of course - replied D'Avanzo - there are always poor people who undergo this ordeal……
Thank you… you're too kind… (D'Ascenzo perfectly in line with AGIP policy: you work for them and they consider you ''a necessary evil'')

Turkmenistan was the last and slowest among the post-Soviet republics to undergo a transition to a market economy. The first president of the country, Saparmyrat Niyazov, did not want to rush into such a transition and he didn’t feel the need for it due to the large reserves of natural gas in the country, which generated a stable revenue for the budget. He repeatedly stated that “We don’t need a revolution; we’re for evolution,” suggesting slow and modest reforms. With independence, private businesses were allowed to operate, and large bazaars started to emerge run by small and medium-sized enterprises. Retail, restaurants, bakeries, beauty salons, and other service-related private businesses emerged. However, when it came to large factories and industries, most of them were still dominated by state-owned enterprises in the first decades following independence.
When it comes to the agricultural sector, the Turkmen government still owns and controls all the land in the country. The government rents land to private farmers and intervenes in what crops can be produced. The state also has a monopoly over wheat and cotton production. The state hires private farmers to grow wheat or cotton and buys the crops produced at a government-set price. Private farmers must sell all harvested wheat and cotton to the government; they cannot take the crops to an open market on their own.[...]
The government has complete monopolies in the following sectors: telecommunication, agriculture (land, wheat, and cotton), textile factories, alcohol factories, hotels, airlines, airports, railways, chemical raw materials (polypropylene, carbamide, fertilizers, etc.), natural resources (natural gas and oil), gas stations, and other industries. State monopolies mean that the government does not allow private entrepreneurs to get involved in those industries, resulting in lost opportunities and growth.[...]
The telecommunication sector is completely dominated by state-owned companies now. The Russian mobile phone operating company MTS was the largest provider of mobile services before the Turkmen government suspended their license in 2010. The Russian operator returned to the Turkmen market in 2012 only to be kicked out again in 2017, which led to MTS filing a lawsuit against the government of Turkmenistan. Currently, no foreign or domestic private companies are allowed into the market providing telecommunication services. [...]
The private sector is visible in service industries (restaurants, the beauty sector, and more), construction companies, and in retail, in which small and medium-sized businesses import products from abroad and resell them in the domestic market. These enterprises still occasionally suffer from government intervention, as in the case of the Turkish mall mentioned above.
Vienna-based Chronicles of Turkmenistan spells out the implications of what the government has planned in balder terms: shoppers at state stores will probably no longer be guaranteed fixed and subsidised prices for staple goods.
The broader marketisation agenda has been taking shape since 2017. It was in October of that year that the Council of Elders, a for-show assembly of national and local dignitaries routinely assembled to give a sheen of legitimacy to unpopular decisions, voted to scrap the free provision of electricity, natural gas, water and salt to the population.
As the then-president, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, argued: “Incomes are increasing from year to year, there are a large number of jobs. I accordingly support and consider appropriate the proposal of the Council of Elders to phase in payment for the provision of utilities, so as to ensure a more rational and careful use of natural resources.”
The scrapping of the requirement to pay for those utilities was implemented in 1993 by the late president Saparmurat Niyazov. The arrangement was supposed to remain in place until 2030. [...]
The planned trans-Afghan TAPI gas pipeline rarely feels very possible, but all parties involved are acting as though it is a viable proposition.
Kabul-based Tolo news agency reported on August 20 that a government committee has been formed in Afghanistan to execute their country’s section of the project. The committee will be headed by first deputy prime minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the outlet reported. A delegation will at some point travel from Kabul to Ashgabat for talks on how to take the project forward.

WARSAW, Poland -- A project to develop small nuclear power reactors in Poland is moving forward, with a cooperation agreement between the Polish energy giant ORLEN and two U.S. government financial institutions signed Monday.
Poland is turning toward renewable and noncarbon energy, away from its past reliance on its own coal. Moscow's invasion of Ukraine has also accelerated Poland's drive to cut its dependence on Russian oil and gas.
In a ceremony at the U.S. ambassador’s residence in Warsaw, the U.S. EXIM Bank signed a letter of interest in lending up to $3 billion and the U.S International Development Finance Corporation signed a letter of interest to lend up to $1 billion to the ORLEN Synthos Green Energy project for developing some 20 small BWRX-300 modular reactors designed by GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy.
U.S. Ambassador Mark Brzezinski stressed that Russia's aggression against Ukraine almost 14 months ago reinforced the need to turn toward safe and reliable energy sources.
At a later news conference, Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland needed a “cheap, clean and reliable energy source” like the SMR reactors, which will produce emission-free energy and be a driving force for the economy for decades to come.
Coal mining is among Poland's largest employers, providing some 80,000 jobs and supplying some 70% of the country's energy, and Morawiecki said that industry will continue to guarantee power security. He stressed, however, that global climate concerns and European Union regulations are calling for a shift to renewable and clean energy, which the nuclear reactors plan is helping to advance.
PKN ORLEN president, Daniel Obajtek said Poland's first BWRX-300 reactor should be launched in 2029 and will be the world's second, after a similar one becomes operational in Darlington, Canada.
He stressed that “there is no stopping of energy transformation” in the world and the oil and gas giant — 49.9% owned by the Polish state — is planning 320 billion zlotys ($75 billion) of investments.
In February, Poland's government and the U.S. Westinghouse Electric Company signed a deal for pre-design cooperation on the central European nation’s first large nuclear power plant, using the American company’s technology. Construction on the plant is to begin in 2026 and it should start supplying the energy grid in 2032.

The Helper Drone series by JC Jenson
Tumblr media
So far in the series, the only two types of drones we’ve known so far are the architectural, yet cowardly and docile worker drones and the sadistic, oil-thirsty disassembly drones. And yet, I feel that there’s a huge possibility that they’re not the only types of drones built by JC Jenson, far from it.
This is part one of an expansion of each of my Murder Drones headcanon from my previous post. I wanted to add a couple of more details about what I talked about before, like their predecessors and other drones built by other companies, and of course, the other types of drones I listed besides workers and disassemblers. I also want to revise my previous theories into headcanon because I had long realized that I was unknowingly making headcanon more than fan theories. From what I’ve learned from having a conversation with a fellow user on the Murder Drones subreddit, theories are only theories if there’s any substantial evidence to support them. Otherwise, it’s just headcanon, what’s generally made up in your head.
The drones’ origins
It’s no secret that humanoid robots were realized long before the 1980′s or 2000′s. My idea for the drones’ predecessors is that they were  introduced sometime between the 2030′s or 2050′s (probably during the events of Internecion Cube, that is if Liam is going with the shared universe route). Initially, these machines were first introduced as servants for human households, but overtime, the series had since expanded into a franchise, with various variants built for other environments such as offices, construction areas, warehouses, and hospitals. Obviously, like with smartphones, there were numerous  companies jumping ship on the helper robot industry, including JC  Jenson. I could go over more details about the helper robots, like public opinion on these machines, their overall treatment from both their producers and consumers, certain “complaints” of products achieving self-awareness and going on either a self-destructive, existential meltdown or a typical robot uprising (which would then force  companies to regulate their products’ AI), et cetera. But right now, I want to focus on JC Jenson’s helper robot franchise; I’m going to blandly refer to it as the Helper Drone series.
JC Jenson’s Helper Drone series
JC Jenson has been continuing the Helper Drone franchise for quite a long time, like over 500 years; I have a headcanon that Murder Drones take place sometime between the 2500′s or 2700′s or sometime around the early 3000′s, and I have another headcanon that Murder Drones takes place centuries after C-2 Strain. The Helper Drones were first introduced during the 2060′s as a living home appliance, advertised as friendly robots who help with the chores, caring for your children, and arranging your tasks. As with many other helper robot franchises, the Helper Drone series had since expanded across other workplaces over the decades through newer variants, and throughout the decades or centuries, each variant has been preceded by newer generations, prompting loyal consumers to replace their older models. So far, there had been 1,500–3,000 generations in the franchise.
The Worker Drones are a line of helper robots built to perform endless, grueling manual labor, and as such, they are assigned to blue-collar professions such as construction, mining, manufacturing, sanitation, farming, and landscaping. They’re usually distinguished by their large worker helmet and blue eye optics, and are usually seen any form of worker attire, like a high-visibility vest or a gas mask (let’s assume that drones have weird robot lungs). They’re also distinguished by their various scratches, scars, and dents, as you would expect from drones working in dangerous, thankless jobs and having to endure hazardous conditions like handling hot, boiling steel or withstanding corrosive sulfur. Currently, there’s a “rogue” Worker Drone colony situated on Copper 9 after all the human workers were mysteriously wiped out, and JC Jenson is handling the situation by sending out disassembly squads and having them exterminated as soon as possible.
The Service Drones are a line of helper robots built to provide customer service, such as in restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations, and malls. They’re usually distinguished by their light yellow eye optics to indicate that they’re happy workers, and they would be seen in any form of work attire, like a movie usher’s bow tie, a fast food worker’s novelty hat, or a nice tuxedo/apron combo fit for a waiter. They are also often seen with dents and scratches from dealing with impatient, rowdy customers, and managers would have to get them repaired so that they’d look healthier and happier.
The Office Drones are a line of helper robots built to perform droll, exhausting office work, like documenting and organizing files, providing customer support, and offering financial advice, so they’re basically white-collar robots. There’s also unique variants of office drones called Secretary Drones built to serve as personal assistants for corporate executives, office managers, lawyers, agency directors, and government officials. While Office Drones look similar to a typical helper robot with regular office apparel, secretary drones are about a few inches taller than office drones, have a sleeker, slimmer figure, and are usually seen in clean suits, thus forming some sort of class structure between the Office Drones and Secretary Drones similar with their human counterparts. Both types of drones are identified by their cyan eye optics, and may or may not have been treated poorly by their human coworkers and superiors equally.
The Emergency Drones are a line of helper robots built for emergency services (i.e. police services, fire services, medical services, and rescue services). They’re usually identified by their yellow eye optics and large helmet with a single emergency headlight, and they’re also about as tall and slim as secretary drones. Similar to Worker Drones, they can withstand any form of hazard no human can endure, such as falling debris, roaring flames, noxious gas, and rapid bullet fire (at least the heavily armored units). Emergency Drones are only assigned to rescue victims and transport them to the nearest hospital, but they can still perform medical service and treat their patients with intensive care once they reach their destination.
The Medical Drones are a line of helper robots built to perform medical practices such as physical exams, eye exams, and dental exams. They are distinguished by their pink eye optics and tall, slim chassis, and they’re usually seen in medical attire such as white coats, scrubs, and masks, even though they don’t necessarily breathe. As a basis of Security Drones, Military Drones, and Disassembly Drones, they are equipped with a multi-tool system in place of each of their forearms, allowing them to switch to any tool needed for their procedure, such as a scalpel or a bone saw. Medical Drones are also seen together with Emergency Drones, as the latter transport rescued victims to the nearest hospitals so that the former can begin treating their injuries, but because of that, people often confuse them with each other. There are also a military variant of Medical Drones called Combat Medic Drones that were built to provide medical attention to severely injured soldiers and critically damaged Military Drones.
The Security Drones are a line of security robots that were built to serve as security forces in various institutions, such as banks, malls, transit centers, schools, office buildings, and government buildings, and they also serve as bodyguards for very important figures like government officials and celebrities. They usually appear with a bulky, toned figure, and are often seen in a large helmet (also with a single headlight sometimes) and security attire (usually either a jacket or a bulletproof vest), and they’re seen with either light blue eye optics or red eye optics. These drones are also the first in the franchise to be built with a weapon system in place of each of their forearms, taking inspiration from the medical drones. This allows Security Drones to switch their hands into a ranged weapon such as a laser cannon or a selective-fire machine gun, or with close combat, melee weapons such as a sword, a baton, or a taser. For lighter units that don’t possess a weapon system, they instead wield separate weapons on their own, such as a rifle, a pistol, or a baton. Speaking of batons, there’s also a variant of security drones called Police Drones that are built for police services, detective services, or SWAT services, and ironically, these machines often have a higher performance rate than their human counterparts.
The Military Drones are a line of military robots built as basic advanced infantry for armies, navies, marines, coast guards, air forces, and space forces. While they share the same body figure as Security Drones and Police drones, as well as being equipped the same weapon unit on each of their forearms, they are ten times stronger and sturdier and 20 times deadlier than Police Drones. They’re also seen with green eye optics, and their attire mainly consist of military gear such as a large helmet, a utility belt, and a utility vest. Their weapon system consist of high-grade, state-of-the-art projectile weapons such as high-precision laser rifles, ultra-rapid-fire machine guns, and anti-tank missile launchers. There’s also a variant of Military Drones called Stealth Drones that are built with features such as invisibility or auditory reduction that allow them to sneak along enemy bases and attack enemies by surprise. Variants of Military Drones were considered for extermination of rogue, self-aware drones, but eventually, it would then succeed with a new model of Helper Drones: Disassembly Drones.
The Disassembly Drones are a line of strange, unusual helper robots built to destroy rogue AI. They are built with the same chassis as the Medical Drones, Security Drones, and Military Drones, including the same weapon platform grafted on their forearms. Other than that, they are also seen in silver wigs (grafted or otherwise) and sometimes a clean, dark uniform complete with a yellow armband. Compared to Security Drones and Military Drones, their weapon system allows them to change into any dangerous weapon they see fit, such as a pair of claws, a missile launcher, a chainsaw, or an EMP wave generator, making them a sentient arsenal. Other than using a nanite-based regeneration system like with other models, they are equipped with a nanite-assisted alloy that allows them to grow back a missing body part like a head or an arm. Some models also seem to be vampire-like, as they need to drink oil in order to not overheat, or that they need to stay away from the sunlight in order to avoid activating a solar-powered fail-safe, but they couldn’t transform other drones into new Disassembly Drones by biting them, of course. As opposed to many other drones, Disassembly Drones seem to have personalities of their own. Many of them retain a stoic, obedient personality (i.e. Serial Designation J), while some of them either have an apathetic, aloof personality or a sadistic, wild personality (i.e. Serial Designation V). I have a headcanon that there are about only a few Disassembly Drone units built (like 25), while the rest of the units (about 225 of them) were actually recycled from other drones of different kinds due to JC Jenson not wishing to waste more of their profits, hence their built-in personalities.
The Goliath Drones are a line of large helper robots that were built for extreme heavy-duty labor. They are incredibly tall, bulky, and strong, weighing in around five to eight tons and towering in about 20 or 30 feet, and many of them are built with large multi-tool system on their forearms, allowing them to use any massive tool for their assignment, like a drill, a hydraulic jackhammer, or a huge shovel. These behemoths are usually assigned to heavy-duty assignments at mines, factories, deep waters, landfills, and sulfur pits, and much like Worker Drones, they can withstand any form of punishment such as swimming across  molten steel, shrugging of corrosive sulfur, or traversing through heavy pressure underwater. Because of their incredible strength and durability, there are variants of Goliath Drones built for military services called Eradicator Drones, and they are equipped with a heavy weapon system that allows them to switch to any form of powerful artillery such as an autocannon or a howitzer. There is currently development of a disassembly variant of Goliath Drones, as part of Project Purge, for complete eradication of groups of rogue drones.
So, that’s what I have for this headcanon, the numerous types of drones built by JC Jenson. Hopefully, I could expand the other headcanon very soon.

To Promote Hatred of Women, Millionaire Bond Commissioners Threaten to Drown New Orleans
The people of Louisiana shouldn’t have to live at the mercy of the banks or depend on the corrupt Bond Commission to guarantee that we have life-saving infrastructure like power plants that prevent the flooding of our towns and cities. Our protection from climate disasters or access to housing, childcare, and healthcare—including abortions—should not be decided by 14 greedy, rich white men.It is a criminal abuse of power that the Bond Commission is attempting to sabotage the construction of critical infrastructure just to advance the pro-death agenda of Landry and his fellow millionaires. The Bond Commission has no authority to punish New Orleans for fighting to get a pledge that abortions will not be criminally prosecuted.
Instead of deciding whether to fund a project based on need and fiscal feasibility, the Bond Commission is being used as yet another weapon of the rich against the working class of Louisiana. The gangster-like threat to drown New Orleanians reveals yet again that the sole mission of Landry, Nungusser, Schroder, Ardoin, Dardenne, Edwards, Schexnayder, and the other commissioners is to enrich themselves no matter the costs to the people.
Yet again the right of the people of Louisiana to decide the economic and personal terms of their lives has been completely highjacked by a handful of rich, white politicians on behalf of the corporations and PACs who pay to put them in office. The hateful assault on abortion access, the opposition to a living wage and to heat protections for workers, rent control, Medicaid, food security, and sick pay are all part of the same plan to enhance the profits of corporations and ultra-rich individuals.
Jeff Landry and his far-right millionaire cronies celebrate their hunt while the people suffered after Hurricane Ida.
While Jeff Landry is the poster boy for the far right, whipping up white supremacist violence and speaking at and supporting openly Nazi sites and conferences, the entire board of the Bond Commission participates in this scheme to oppress and deprive the people of Louisiana. Their hideous campaigns to attack LGBTQ people and immigrants are designed to keep the state poor and divided while they host galas and luncheons in their fortified mansions, golf clubs, and hunting lodges.
We see the world differently than the rich bribe-takers on the Bond Commission. Where they see dollar signs, we see thousands living under blue tarps, thousands being bled dry by high gas prices and insurance premiums, thousands of seniors with no safe evacuation plans. We see mass incarceration, eviction waves, rampant environmental racism, and the highest maternal death rate in the country. These are the hardships we experience day to day.
The Bond Commission doesn’t use its decision-making power to withhold funds for projects that don’t pay a living wage. They don’t use their power to force chemical corporations to stop creating Cancer Alleys or to guarantee that oil and gas workers get good jobs in environmentally clean industries. They could require that only affordable housing be built or that quality schools be given priority funding.
The Bond Commission has only used its power to withhold funds when it came time to defend the profits of the gun industries or the climate-destroying oil and gas companies who fund their campaigns. They use their power to bully parishes who make even the slightest moves to protect the lives of pregnant people or transition away from the use of fossil fuels.
We see through the hatred and the lies promoted by the likes of Landry and all the other corporate bootlickers on the Bond commission. While they bully and peddle hate, we are organizing to win decent and dignified lives. The power of Louisiana’s workers is infinitely greater than their little dictatorship of the rich and we will show this in action.

What is Climate Neutrality and Why Does it Matter?
Imagine a world in which automobiles run on electricity rather than fuel, companies produce no smoke, and forests thrive and absorb the carbon we breathe out. This is the essence of climate neutrality, a notion that is gaining popularity as humanity struggles with the ever-worsening climate problem. It is not nirvana.
So, what exactly is Climate Neutrality?
It is a balanced condition. It manages the amount of greenhouse gases that humans release into the atmosphere and the quantity that the earth naturally takes in, mostly from the ocean and trees. Consider it as a massive carbon budget: in order to stay under the cap and prevent catastrophic climate change, we must both save and remove carbon emissions.
However, striking this equilibrium requires more than just planting a few trees and feeling good about ourselves. It’s a drastic shift that necessitates significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from all areas of the economy, including energy, transportation, agriculture, industry, and our daily lives.
What makes being climate-neutral important? Every heat wave, every flood, every wildfire has the answer carved in it. Our world is currently experiencing severe weather events, ecosystem disruption, and threats to the basic fabric of life on Earth due to the effects of our present carbon footprint.
Here’s a glimpse of the urgency:
The rate at which global temperatures are rising is concerning; they are climbing above safe thresholds and could have irreversible effects.
Rising sea levels are threatening coastal areas and forcing millions of people to relocate.
Severe weather phenomena, such as destructive hurricanes and sweltering droughts, are occurring more frequently and with greater intensity.
There is a sharp decline in biodiversity and an alarming rate of extinction of species.
It is no longer an option to ignore these warnings. Achieving climate neutrality is essential; it’s not simply a goal. It’s the route leading to a time when:
Kids can play in thriving ecosystems and breathe clean air.
In a climate that is stable and free from catastrophic natural disasters, communities flourish.
Robust agricultural systems that adjust to changing conditions safeguard food security.
Our lives are powered by renewable energy, which eliminates pollution and our reliance on fossil fuels.
Reaching Carbon Neutrality: From Idea to Reality
It takes creativity, teamwork, and relentless dedication to achieve net-zero emissions. The following are some essential measures to take:
Reducing reliance on fossil fuels significantly entails retiring coal, oil, and gas in favor of renewable energy sources including solar, wind, and geothermal.
Transportation transformation: The decarbonization of this industry will depend on the use of electric cars, bike lanes, and effective public transportation.
Constructing energy-efficient infrastructure: Reducing energy consumption requires the use of smart grids, green buildings, and sustainable building techniques.
safeguarding and rehabilitating natural carbon sinks: Wetlands and forests are essential for absorbing carbon. It is imperative to expand protected areas, engage in sustainable forestry, and support the restoration of ecosystems.
Promoting innovation: New developments in sustainable agriculture, green hydrogen production, and carbon capture and storage technology provide hope.
Creating a Culture of Climate Consciousness: To promote systemic change, individual action, education, and public awareness are essential.
The Path Ahead: Difficulties and Possibilities
The path to climate neutrality is not without difficulties. Obstacles of a political, social, and economic nature stand in the way. But despite these challenges, there are a ton of opportunities:
New green jobs can be created, revitalizing economies and empowering communities.
Cleaner air and improved public health will save lives and boost our collective well-being.
Innovation and technological advancements will drive economic growth and competitiveness.
Preserving a healthy planet will safeguard our future and the legacy we leave for generations to come.
Climate neutrality is a moral requirement as well as a scientific necessity. It’s an appeal to individuals, corporations, and governments to take action. It’s about making a decision for a future in which the environment and mankind coexist peacefully.
Together, let’s rise to the occasion, accept the challenge, and be the generation that creates equilibrium. Let’s turn climate neutrality from a theoretical idea to a practical reality.
Never forget that every decision, action, and voice counts. Take the first step toward being climate-neutral right now. Educate others, call for change, and lead by example. By working together, we can create a future with a clear sky, clean air, and a stable climate. Where “Climate Neutrality” is more than just a catchphrase; it’s a symbol of our group’s inventiveness and our steadfast dedication to a sustainable future.
This is the narrative of our world, our destiny. Let’s pen the epilogue that future generations will find inspiring.
