Also gonna ramble a but about the pokemon themselves bc I love them (all these pokemon were caught in the first evolution and evolved to their final except for Missy and Trouble)
In order of capture:
Chandelure (Lavender) was Ingo's starter. She just kinda followed him home one day from a festival bc she thought his soul was pretty. Drayden was very concerned about letting Ingo keep a ghost type so young (like 9 years old) bc they have been known to feed of their trainer's souls but in the end he agreed mostly bc she refused to leave
Emmet's starter was Eelektross (Taser). Emmet actually was searching for a pokemon that day which is why the twins were in Chargestone Cave. Taser was having a casual battle with another wild pokemon and Emmet just kinda stepped in and started giving him directions. Taser was grumpy about it at first but then realised Emmet had good strategies and together they won the battle
When they became old enough to go on their pokemon journeys Drayden gifted them twin Klinks which were quickly named as Gear (Ingo's) and Station (Emmet's) (the train special interest was already strong in these boys). These would have been their starters had they not made friends with Lavender and Taser first. Emmet often introduces them the wrong way round as "Station and Gear" and Ingo hates it
Ingo's Crustle (the only one I haven't thought of a nickname for) was caught bc it was the only pokemon in the area that didn't scatter when Ingo yelled a little too loud in the middle of the forest and Emmet immediately demanded Ingo battle it for its bravery
Emmet's Galvantula (Goldie) was caught bc Emmet really really really wanted a Joltik (his favourite pokemon) and caught the first one he came across
Emmet caught his Durant (Stoker) after getting lost in Twist Mountain. He'd somehow lost sight of Ingo and Elesa and was panicking, crying and nonverbal. Stoker found him like this and sat with him until he was found. Stoker continued to follow them to make sure Emmet didn't get lost again. When Emmet noticed, he challenged it to a battle and caught it
After defeating Drayden's gym (and don't think he went easy on them bc they're family), Drayden gifted Ingo his own Haxorus' egg and gifted Emmet a Plume fossil which became their Haxorus (Freight) and Acheops (Piston)
After Freight hatched she immediately wandered off and got lost. They ended up finding her being mother henned by a Drillbur (Quake) who demanded she battle them to make sure they're good enough for Freight. She got emotionally attached and joined them
As young Depot Agents Ingo and Emmet were tasked with catching whoever was tipping over the trash cans around Gear Station. Ingo found a Trubbish (Daisy) and offered her a job cleaning up the trash around the station instead of making messes
As Subway Bosses the twins were widely known for being excellent trainers. This is why the local pokemon shelter reached out to them about a temporary placement for a Boldore (Missy) and Gurdurr (Trouble). They'd both been forced to evolve by their old trainers before they were ready and now weren't very well behaved around anyone that tried to take care of them, scared of the same thing happening again. They couldn't be released since they didn't have the survival skills they needed for the wild. Missy and Trouble were supposed to be placeholder names just for the short time theyvstayed with the twins but they stuck and they all got emotionally attached, so they took them in permanently
(This does leave Ingo with 7 pokemon, later 8 with his Alakazam, and Emmet with 6, tho Emmet's endless army of Joltik make up for that. The "6 is a team" thing is more of an etiquette thing and a league rules thing. Carrying more than 6 pokeballs at once is allowed, it's just customary to only use 6 if you enter a battle)
I have more to say about Ingo's Hisui pokemon too
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Knowing all of their mons' origins is so interesting and very wholesome! Almost everything is fluffy and sweet, a nice change of pace from what I've been daydreaming about 😅.
Y'know, other than some occasional angst here and there, and the Hisui situation, the huge wholesome-ness percentage in your Poké paracosm reminds me of another friend's paracosm. While there might be some problems here and there and a hint of trauma a treat, her paracosm is mostly consist of wholesome slice of life stuff. Also, a lot of things in this info dump are so cute :>

For all of your muses!!: How are you going to spend the holidays?🎄🎁
{ Eris could care less. She’s an ancient goddess of chaos, so she stays below in Tartarus and drinks, rolling her eyes at how her dumb family is still sore over Monotheists gaining monopoly on the season. She doesn’t care either way, thinks everyone is lame, and that her family should “get over it already, it’s been over 2000 years SNORE.”
Proteus was born waaaaay before these Holidays, so he just celebrates like any ancient Greek during the Winter Solstice would. He’s not into the sacrifice stuff, though. :/
Pickles spends the whole freakin’ season BLITZED out and drunk as fuck. He is one angry, depressed drummer. Holidays...trigger him.
Skwisgaar does what he always does, he doesn’t acknowledge any holiday unless he’s thrust into celebrating. IE: his mom visits or Toki pulls the whole band into it. Abigail goes home to Detroit and visits her huge fam and does the whole “This Christmas” scene. There’s always drama, but she endures and loves them all. She also gets to eat and cook and hang out and NOT WORK for once.
Seth’s probably in jail.
Negaduck TRIES to stay out of jail, for Nega!Gos’s sake. But he’s spent a few Christmases in the klink. Actually? He enjoys it because the guards break the rules and give them aTON of booze, and he gets to stay in his cell, unbothered. Nega!Gosalyn LOVES Christmas so she goes full out with all the traditions, and makes her dad endure them all. Lovingly so.
Morgana does her own gothy-spin on the Holidays; but for a dramatic, moody witch, she does enjoy festivities so she goes all out...in her own Morgana way. Mistletoe...everywhere.
Gladstone’s busy with parties until New Years’ so he’s booked solid. Another big drinker, but for festive reasons. ALTHOUGH he does down more when he sees how happy Daisy and Donald are. Sometimes he gets the hell out of town and does the Vegas thing.
Gabby doesn’t acknowledge the Holidays, as she’s not really...a celebrator of any holiday. Given her background and upbringing, she just quietly goes to the same underground club/pub every year, gets sushi someplace, and then goes back to her safehouse. She probably goes home with someone so she’s not alone. Buuuuut sometimes she’s good to be alone. Ship-verse wise, she’s obviously with her S.O.
René avoids his cold, snotty family like the plague and cites: “I must train in X country, my regards.” But really? He just goes to the countryside on the other side of France and spends a quiet, indulgent time in his second home in the village.
Francine LOSES HER FREAKIN’ MIND and decorates the house beyond normal levels, has the music cranked up, and is baking nonstop. She is SO excited because she gets Chinese New Year AND Christmas, so she has 2 1/2 solid months of holiday craziness. She is also busy with the church choir--not singing but volunteering. She air-horns her family up for events if they’re going on, and is a TOTAL misplaced Who-ville resident, lbr.
Holtzmann has a Jewish AND Christian background, so she regards celebrating both holidays as normal, and celebrates them both casually. She’s not really religious, so it’s all about the aesthetic and fun of it.
Kim’s family does midnight Mass, then onto the celebrating. They do everything in a big way, so a family full of geniuses ( and genetically altered lab brats ) means that it always starts off normal and cozy--movies, food, and games...but it always ends in arguments and competition and endless “contests” in the backyard.
Nanami tries to do the whole “traditional perfect holiday” thing, but she and Touga loathe going home to the manor and dealing with....those people. So they both end up staying at Ohtori, and having their own gift exchange and perfect dinner. She IS a mondo shopper, so she buys everyone in the Student Council ( the Rose Seal ) and her little trio of sycophants expensive gifts. Not to be kind, but to show off.
Fujiko goes to Monte Carlo every Christmas. She has a lot of stolen goods to spend and enjoy at her own pace. She tries to kick back and relax, caper free? But if one pops up, she doesn’t care, she’ll skip the lavish Christmas dinner and symphony for a diamond heist any day.
Angela’s HEARD of Christmas/winter Holidays, but they have a whole different spin on all of Earth’s traditions on Mars. So everything we do on Earth, ( even if the residents of Mars are all human in origin ) is like...how modern man looks at the ancients. They do some of the traditions not knowing how they were REALLY done, and do it watered down and weirdly translated. She does do the Black Friday thing though, lbr.
Ponyhead, Darlene, Lily Asami, and Toph come from places/verses where our winter Holidays don’t exist. They may have other holiday things they do, but related to their worlds alone, and not quite like ours. Hard to explain. }

It’s all about the shade....
7th July - 21st August
We’re having a heatwave, an ongoing heatwave……
It’s hot, hot, hot. Hot, hot, hot.
France and most of Europe are sweltering in an unrelenting heatwave. 100 French regions are officially in drought and many have no drinking water.
After a mild winter with little rain the reservoirs are low and as a consequence the canals are struggling.
Belgium has just closed small canals and pleasure boats like us can only travel the big canals with the commerce who always go first into the locks (as they should).
The water situation in Europe is much worse than 2018.
During July and August our travels along the Marne river have focused on finding shady moorings. Shady tree moorings along a river bank so we can ‘swim’ and cool off.
Not really swim but a cooling dip into the reasonably clean green river.
Daily our minds are occupied working out where the sun was likely to set along the looping Marne.
Most of the official pontoons and quays were always on the sunny side of the river so finding tree moorings with enough depth, the right distance apart, no fishermen and not at the bottom of someone’s garden took time and trials.
Between shade searches we touristified ‘un peu.’
At Meaux we visited the ‘Musee de la Guerre’. Despite its name the museum focused on WW1 along the Marne, not the entire war and emphasised the American contribution in the area. They only arrived in 1917.
The collections were creatively presented although this one, half in and half out of the case, made me jump.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baldrick  and Captain Klink made a surprise visit.
Tumblr media
France likes to celebrate Mark’s birthday on July 14 and for once we were here to enjoy the celebrations but it was so Hot!
With temperatures heading north of 37degrees we spent the holiday with our NBF’s (New Best Friends) Peggy and Gary off ‘Viking’. We were partly tied to trees in a forlorn hope of some shade before the sun went down. Mark swam over to the shore to get lines around tree trunks. He wasn’t complaining. Gary very kindly made gf pizzas as a birthday treat.
Here we are having snacks and drinks with Gary and Peggy, their grand daughter and daughter visiting from Toronto.
Tumblr media
Chateau-Thierry boasts a fortress first mentioned in 923, as you do. On the hot Sunday we visited a Medieval Fayre was in progress. Apparently Medieval performers only create costumes for cold weather.
Tumblr media
Except this one.
Tumblr media
The outstanding modern activity at the fortress is not the eagle display but the tree walk. Mark and other adults greatly outnumbered the few children up in the nets. It was the best place to  catch the cooling breezes and to gently bounce.
Tumblr media
It did rain one day.
It drizzled most of the day.
It was marvellous.
We walked across the river to a champagne village named Oeuilly to visit the ‘Maison Champagnoise Musee’.
Apart from winning the prize for the most head-scratchingly-creative English translation pages (must have been done by the work exchange student back in 1998) this mannequin exhibited at the Musee is a podium contender for our Museum Mannequin 2022 award.
Tumblr media
The competition is hotting up.
Like the weather.
The never ending heatwave was closing canals all over France.
We arrived in Chalons-en-Champagne and could go no further towards our goal of wintering in Strasbourg. In 2018 when we were last here ice was our problem, now it is lack of rain.
Chalons is a great town. It used to be called Chalons-sur-Marne and was mentioned as far back as 451 when the battle of Chalons turned back Attila. It is also notable as the crash site of of Snoopy when he fought the Red Baron! Incroyable!
In the main square is the most fanciful carousel ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The nearby Jard was hosting a free 3 day music festival for female musicians. On Friday night we joined the locals to watch the mostly fantastic musicians.
Tumblr media
Our position on the pontoon meant we were part of the festival whether we visited it or not. It was too hot to do anything else but enjoy the music.
Chalons also boasts a ‘Musee des Beaux-arts et d’Archeologie’ which includes a collection of almost 3000 stuffed birds from all around the world. They exuded a spooky kind of charm.
Tumblr media
Moi avec lyre birds. All of us a very long way from home.
Tumblr media
It was very nice to see this self portrait by Aline Hurault de Sorbée from the Musee celebrated in the busy Jardin area.
Tumblr media
We would like to travel from left to right (west to east) to Strasbourg but as the map shows our way is all red and ‘You shall not pass!’
Tumblr media
Doights croisés some of the canals will return to green as August passes to a cooler September.

A Note from Fansplaining
If you’re subscribed to Fansplaining on iTunes or another podcatcher, you’ve probably seen that we put out a short statement this week in lieu of a new episode. Because we’re committed to making all audio we release fully accessible, we’ll transcribe the clip at the bottom of this post, below the cut. But fwiw, it’s mostly just explaining what’s in this post:
Black lives matter. We condemn white supremacy in all its forms. We believe the police should be defunded and dismantled. And we want to make sure everyone who listens to our podcast knows about ways they can contribute to this fight, and ways they can support the Black community (please note that these are U.S.-centric). We’ll be back with a new episode soon, but this is more important than anything we could say right now.
Places to donate
If you’re out of work or have lost hours in the past few months, you may not have money to spare. But even small donations—$5, $10—add up. A few organizations we recommend:
House of GG, a Black-led organization, is fundraising to build a permanent home in Little Rock, Arkansas where trans and gender-nonconforming people can both be housed and receive leadership training.
G.L.I.T.S. is fundraising to buy two buildings to create a permanent place to house and support Black trans people in New York City, as well as sign leases for space to use in the interim.
Sista Afya, a Chicago-based organization, is fundraising to keep its therapeutic services, social events, and wellness experiences under $15 and to hold large scale events like a free arts festival.
For a larger crowdsourced list, see suggestions here.
Ways to get involved if you can’t physically or monetarily participate
If, like us, you live in New York City, here’s a great resource for actionable things you can do from home. Here’s a national list, though for more granular detail for your town/city/region, you should search social media. Some great google doc action happening right now!!
As a reminder, when contacting elected officials:
Always write your own email, rather than use a form. People who work or have worked in these offices strongly advise this, and report that form emails are regularly filtered out, often directly into the trash.
Always write a postcard rather than a letter. Letters are scanned for things like anthrax and can get held up for days; postcards go straight through.
Ensure you know the official’s position on whatever you’re asking about before you call or write. If they’re already supporting or sponsoring a specific piece of legislation, call them anyway and thank them. They use constituent numbers to show that their positions have a lot of public support.
Particularly for white and non-BIPOC: reach out to your family members, as much as you feel safe doing so, and speak with them about Black Lives Matter and the issues of the day. If you have language barriers with your family members, or just need a place to start, Letters For Black Lives is a great resource that includes material in many languages.
Stream this video—all ad revenue will go to bail funds, families of victims of racist police brutality, and other Black-led organizations.
Resources on anti-Blackness and racism in fandom
Because we are a fandom podcast, we encourage white fans in particular to continue to listen to Black fans and other fans of color when it comes to racism in fandom. If you’re new to the podcast or haven’t dug into the full back catalogue, we recommend prioritizing:
Our pair of episodes on race and racism in fandom—especially anti-Blackness in fandom—featured eight different guests. Episodes 22A and B: “Race and Fandom Part 1” and “Race and Fandom Part 2.”
Ebony Elizabeth Thomas was one of our earliest and one of our most recent repeat guests. You can listen to her talk about race, children’s literature, and fandom in episode 7, “The Dark Fantastic” and episode 120, “Ebony Elizabeth Thomas.” Once you’ve listened to these episodes, buy or request that your library purchase a copy of her book, The Dark Fantastic.
Tanya DePass is the founder of I Need Diverse Games. In episode 42, “Fresh Out of Tokens,” she discussed fan/creator interaction and intersectionality in the context of games specifically.
Rukmini Pande is a well-known scholar of race and fandom. She first joined us in episode 29, “Shipping and Activism,” to talk about the ways that ships intersect with politics; then, she returned in episode 89, “Rukmini Pande,” and discussed her academic work. Once you’ve listened to these episodes, buy or request that your library purchase a copy of her book, Squee From the Margins.
In episode 48, “Con or Bust,” we interviewed Diana Pho and Mark Oshiro, two board members of Con or Bust, an organization that raises money to help fans of color attend conventions.
For further reading, Fan Studies Network North America has put together a great list of resources.
Transcript
[Intro music: “Awel” by stefsax]
Flourish Klink: Hi, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Minkel: Hi, Flourish.
FK: Welcome to not an episode of Fansplaining. Um, we almost completely canceled recording at all, but we decided that we wanted to record a short thing, because we know some people only receive us through their podcatcher or whatever and don’t ever go to our website or our social media. So it felt important that we actually record something short today.
ELM: All right. So, just off the bat, at the risk of sounding like a terrible brand black .jpg with white letters, I think it should be obvious to everybody right now but it’s always worth restating—Black Lives Matter. We strongly support everything that is happening right now. We both strongly believe that the police should be…what word are we gonna use? Dismantled?
FK: Yes.
ELM: Dismantled. Like, we, like, you know—and like, strongly condemn white supremacy, which is the foundation of our country and much of the world.
FK: Right. So…
ELM: Very broad statement here, but like, you know, it’s definitely worth stating in explicit terms and not couching it around, you know, just to outright state support for Black people and the fight that is going on right now.
FK: Completely. And we really struggled with whether or not to record an episode because, on the one hand, there’s a lot of topics that we think would be really good to talk about that are within the purview of this podcast—stuff like the way people are using social media to organize, stuff like the entire conversation around K-pop fandom and the way that’s been going down. There’s like five things.
ELM: Spoiler, spoiler: It’s been going down poorly.
FK: Yeah.
ELM: Wait, side note: just anyone, please please please, cause I know a lot of people listen to this podcast and are in fandom but are not in K-pop fandom, if an article that you’re sharing about K-pop fans mobilizing doesn’t acknowledge the, like, rampant anti-Blackness happening within those spaces right now, they haven’t done enough research.
FK: Correct. And also, it’s both that and also if you see the narrative that K-pop fans are only bots, that’s also the other flip bad side of the coin.
ELM: Well, we should—now we’re gettin’ right into it. We’re not actually doing an episode. We’re not actually doing an episode. Yes.
FK: We’re actually gonna talk about this at some point in the future. Right now it feels like, you know, just being two white women talking about this stuff feels like not the thing to do right now? And we also don’t want to right now ask Black people to come on to our podcast and talk about things in a deeply traumatic and horrible moment. So we’re going to put a pin in the podcast and we’re gonna come back with all of those topics and a bunch of guests and basically begin to address this stuff, hopefully in a moment that’s less fraught. Is it ever gonna get less fraught? I don’t know if it’s gonna get less fraught.
ELM: That being said, let’s play it by ear! Because I could not tell you what’s gonna happen two weeks from now, but like…
FK: [sighs] Yeah, I really don’t know either.
ELM: Just, we’ll see. So in the meantime, we are going to put a post on Tumblr so it’ll be shareable, and we are going to include resources—places to donate, in particular places that aren’t getting as much attention. More grassroots stuff that we’re seeking out right now. And also ways to be active and involved for people who don’t have the money or physical ability to be protesting right now, because I am very aware of the narrative of “You should be in the streets! And if not then you should donate!” And it’s like, well, what happens if you are unemployed and also physically unable to get out there? There are so many ways that you can really be, actively lend your support right now.
So we’ll put those in there, and then also, we shared on Twitter a thread of great resources about anti-Blackness and racism in fandom, and since this is a fandom podcast we’ll be sharing some of those in that post as well, because it’s all connected.
FK: Absolutely. All right, everyone out there, stay safe, stay strong, if you’re in the streets stay in the streets, and we’ll be back when we can.
ELM: OK, bye Flourish!
FK: Bye, Elizabeth.
