VG: Something in the Water - PART 2
Weeks of rejoicing in the clear weather had lifted everyone's spirits. Taking advantage of the right weather, talks of Kiara and Kovu's official crowning as king and queen had made its way through the Pridelands. Dear friends and family were invited, including Kiara's brother, Kion, and his queen, Rani, who had not yet seen the Pridelands for herself.
The last few weeks consisted of rehearsals that both the royals and the Guard had to practice. However, in these same weeks, sudden, mysterious disappearances had taken place. It was recently found out that said disappearances had been drownings, as the unfortunate victims would be found risen to the surface of bodies of water.
The incidents made Simba and Nala wonder if maybe the ceremony once again had to be postponed, but their son and his friends were already on their way. Vitani and her Guard promised to investigate the situation with caution.
____
Today was the big day, the day of Kiara and Kovu's official coronation. It wasn't common for a predecessor to step down and watch their successor rise. For generations, it was tradition for the old monarch to pass away in order for their child to succeed the title. Simba wanted to see Kiara rule so he could someday join the Kings of the Past knowing that the kingdom was in good paws.
Simba believed Kiara was ready. Kiara, herself, however, was a nervous wreck. She didn't tell anyone except Kovu, who knew the feelings of the pressure of filling a role very well.
Meanwhile, Vitani and her Lion Guard flanked Pride Rock. They proudly watched as Kovu and Kiara walked up the ledge upon being called over by Makini, who had also made her return to the Pridelands.
During the ceremonial march, the Guard chatted amongst themselves in hushed voices. The clearing of the weather reminded them of the strange monsoon that had taken place for nearly a month, and a conversation came up where nightmares they'd all seem to simultaneuously have had come to a stop the minute the monsoon ended. Nightmares that all had to do with their youth in the Outlands.
Vitani felt correct in her theory that these dreams would occur every time it rained. She considered Tiifu's theory that the dreams had been trauma-related due to the scent and sound of rain. Lately, there was also the addition of these drowning incidents.
Did the stress of these investigations play into these nightmares, too? No matter what, It all seemed to involve water... No... That's too superstitious. That's jumping to conclusions... But, was superstition so out of the ordinary for one who possessed the Roar of the Elders?
"Lion Guard!"
The five lions in question looked to the sky. It was Anga.
She perched to their level, standing at Vitani's shoulder. The Fiercest lent an ear. Anga had told them she caught sight of a violent drowning incident near Misingi Falls.
Not another one... The Lion Guard left Pride Rock on yet another detective mission, hoping they could maybe save this latest victim. ____
"We should split up to shorten the investigation. We don't want to be gone too long before their official crowning." whispered Vitani.
The Guard obeyed the order, deeming it a sound idea. They all went their separate ways to inspect each area of Misingi Falls that they were assigned to. Vitani walked towards the grove that was on the way to the namesake waterfall, lost in the fond memories of falling in love with Tiifu in that very place. She hadn't noticed the mist rising from the ground. Mist that made her disappearance undetectable to the rest of the Guard.
Meanwhile, the sky seemed to grow dark unusually sooner than it normally would. It had been getting oddly dark for the past hour, now. Vitani gazed up at the sky, hoping it not to be any more rainclouds. It felt as if the sun was being blocked by something, but Vitani couldn't truly check without risking blinding herself. Overall, the phenomenon could not be more eerily-timed...
A noise from above scared Vitani out of her wits. She gasped as she jolted. She looked towards the source of the sound to find that it had only been an eagle owl, which flew away from its perch just then. It was confused by the sudden darkness of the sky, thinking it to already be evening.
Vitani chuckled to herself in relief and from the comedic timing for a mere owl to be there. She sighed after catching her breath, inspecting her surroundings to find that she'd wandered rather far from the group, unbeknownst to her, and apparently the rest.
All of a sudden, an all-surrounding, enticing hum rang through Vitani's ears. In order to get a better listen, Vitani followed the sound, not realizing she was, in fact, being involuntarily pulled towards the source of the song.
The song echoing in the mist sounded familiar... nostalgic... comforting... a lullaby Vitani once knew, one sung to her and her brothers in anticipation of victory and a new home. Though, it was unusually slow in tempo, with a somewhat unnerving, demented tone.
No matter... It made her feel like a child again...
She had to find the voice, it was calling to her. She continued to mindlessly make her way through the grove, stepping carefully through bushes as her head remained perfectly still, staring straight ahead.
She felt desire... desire that was being... deliberately preyed upon...
The owner of the voice was elated at the creature she caught this time. She was going to spare this one...
"Yes, come to your mother..." it crooned. She had her now... The Fiercest found herself slowly stepping into the pool at the base of the waterfall. The splash of her paws and the cold, wet sensation up her legs had snapped her out of her trance. She frantically looked around at her surroundings, not sure how she ended up at Misingi Falls. Her bewilderment was cut short when she saw a glowing form emerge from the waterfall. A familiar face eagerly grinned down at her.
"It's been too long, my dear..." Vitani was shocked, to say the least. The water had taken the form of her deceased mother. She knew that smile, that singsong voice, that petname she'd sometimes call her. It was her, it really was her...
"I... I couldn't agree more..." Vitani finally responded, choking up a bit as she smiled.
She quickly caught herself, wiping away tears that were just beginning to form in her eyes. She knew her mother would comment on her crying. It was unprofessional, immature, dramatic, she would say.
"Hah, sorry..." the daughter sniffled.
"Now, now," Zira's apparition purred, "it's alright. I'm here, now, and that's what matters."
Vitani spent a good while reeling from what was happening. She still wasn't sure if it was a dream, hallucination, something. She had seen ghosts, before, possessing the divine Roar of the Elders. She knew very well that it was possible. She felt her paws dig into the muddy ground under the rushing water, her mother's bellowing voice rattling her chest. The sensation was absolutely real, as far as she knew.
"You've really bulked up," Zira remarked, "and I see a certain marking on your shoulder. That's new..."
Vitani expected that, she'd always been prepared to hear her mother comment on her physical attributes. She did gain quite a bit of muscle mass in her upper body, making her resemble her mother all the more.
"Oh, Mother. You have no idea... So much has happened since you've been gone. I'm a leader, now. I'm in charge of the new Lion Guard, and we've been keeping Kovu and our pridesisters safe like you'd always hoped we would. You'll be proud to hear this, Kovu and Kiara, they're about to b -- "
"King and Queen of the Pridelands?" Zira's tone and face were unreadable, either intrigued or unimpressed. Possibly both.
"Y-Yes..." Vitani's soldier-like stance dropped as her head craned closer, "How did you know that...?"
"How else? It's like you said before, my dear; I have been watching you from the clouds." her voice barely contained a slight hint of a grudge, "I've been watching all of you. All. This. Time. I was there to watch you become corrupted by the Pridelander since you left me to die in favor of them..."
Vitani's mind flashed back to all of the rainstorms that took place since her mother's death, from the weeks-long monsoon to the occasional thunderstorms scattered throughout the past year. It all made sense. The strange dreams everyone seemed to have at a time, the faint whispers in the raindrops that Vitani could swear was the voice of her own mother's, her scent, the flashbacks... It had all played a part in something that the Lions of the Past were trying to tell the Roar-wielder for some time.
"But... shouldn't you have been with the Lions of the Past all this time if you lived in the clouds?"
"I did, until you conjured a Dark Roar and sacrificed one of your precious subjects to turn me into this vengeful spirit." "S-Sacrifice?" Vitani's eyes grew wide, "What are you talking about?"
"Does this look familiar?
Suddenly, something was being pulled out of the water under Zira's hydrokinetic control. A large, greenish-gray form was plopped down in front of Vitani, as if she were being presented a kill from a hunt. Vitani grew sick to her stomach.
It had been the bloated, rotting corpse of Ngurumo. He was barely recognizable, yet there wasn't a single scratch on him. It seemed as if his cadaver was protected from the predators that lived below.
"Take a good, long look, my child..." Zira deadpanned, seeming to disregard her daughter's visible distress.
"You're... you're a monster..." Vitani muttered, petrified.
"You made me, Vitani. You let your temper slip when you unleashed your Roar. I'm a monster -- BECAUSE OF YOU!"
"No..." Vitani grew hot. She felt herself shaking as her heart began to pound. "Yes..." purred Zira, "Help me, Vitani. Help me, and I won't appear this way again..." Fear overcame Vitani. It wasn't like her to disobey her mother, but she could not stay here. She frantically trotted out of the water, and turned for the grove. "DON'T LEAVE ME! I AM WHAT YOU MADE ME!" Zira's voice echoed through the trees, not seeming to grow any quieter the further Vitani bolted through the confusing maze. Vitani ran for her life. Twigs snapped and bushes flattened as the lioness brushed through them. She could still her her mother, and felt like she was right behind her if she were to ever dare to look back.  Just before the drop down the hill, Vitani hadn't noticed a large branch hanging about, near eye-level. She smacked her temple against it. It had only been the beginning of misfortune, as she made a painful tumble down to the hill's base. She landed on her back, out cold. Zira lost track of where Vitani had ran shortly into the chase. She stared on hatefully, feeling once again betrayed by her only daughter. She idly sifted the water that surrounded her, letting it softly rise and fall. Her hydrokinesis growing more powerful the more she stewed. Until... The blood that dripped from the branch that Vitani cut herself on began to move as well. Zira watched the droplets defy gravity like the water did. A low chuckle escaped her throat. A plan had been forming. She learned more and more of new ways to start total chaos with anyone she's ever known. Everyone who ever wronged her will now pay... ____ "Vitani? You okay?" said a muffled voice. The lioness on the ground blinked away her double-vision. The twelve -- no, eight? Four grayish forms became clearer. It was her Lion Guard, staring down at her with concern. "Uhhh..." Vitani moaned, squeezing her eyes shut from the pain on her temple becoming exasperated by the bright yellow sunset. "That was quite a tumble, dude." said Shabaha. "Hnngg... how long was I out...?" Vitani slurred. "Couple of hours." Imara replied. Vitani shot up, becoming more alert. "The ceremony! I-Is it too late?!" "The ceremony... kinda didn't happen..." Kasi cringed awkwardly. Vitani stood up, "What?" "Kiara panicked. Bad." Imara answered, "Ran back into the cave. When we got back to Pride Rock, everyone was checking on her." "When it started getting late, we noticed you were gone. We had Tazama locate you while we ran back home real quick. She stayed by you until we came back." Kasi said. "C'mon, Vitani..." Shabaha let her leader put her weight on her shoulder, "Gonna wanna get that thing patched up. I mean, might give Tiifu a panic attack on top of Kiara's, but... it's... y'know..." Shabaha's voice trailed off. Vitani absentmindedly nodded just before glancing back. She looked into the grove, gazing at the glow of the falls deep within. Did her interaction with her mother even happen, or was it all just a bad dream? She couldn't bring it up, now. Not with a gash on her head. No one would believe her... ____ ((Author's Note: Water Spirit Zira is finally revealed! Looks like Vitani's having a not-so-good (belated) Friday the 13th 😱. A MUCH fuller version of this story will be uploaded later on my Ao3, including that very summarized prelude as well as Kiara and Kovu's B-plot. Here, I just provided the portion of the story providing context for the thumbnails. Art Note: You may have noticed a strange phenomenon in the sky in the first image. This is a nod to an annual solar eclipse that happened today that both Americas had the opportunity to witness. Also, as you may have noticed, I did indeed do a paint-over of my one drawing of Water Spirit Zira when I first introduced her in her model sheet. I liked the drawing too much that I thought I'd adapt it into a more detailed, full image with her daughter included four years later.))

@roarofancients:
Allowing Kion to speak, in his own voice. "You saw that he hit his head, Rafiki has said that Scar never was the same after that moment. And look at the current situation here, Scar able to possess me. No reason something couldn't have possessed him back during... with grandfather Mufasa... What he said about then, as he's a part of me now is truth. Back when I was a cub, when I got the Roar... My fear was becoming much like Scar, however after receiving this scar of my own from him with Ushari in the volcano... I understand much better, what has been affecting him. My journey... was longer than expected, even with my friends... my Lion Guard... We had some close calls. Not sure if I told you before, father. I pushed a peacock over once then, aggressively at that. Definitely not who I am. And if not for Bunga, Fuli and I would have physically fought at one point. Scar had it worse, having brain damage on top of the altered cobra venom."
Shari hanging near, confirms: "neurological damage after a brain injury may cause emotional volatility like intense mood swings or extreme reactions to everyday situations. Such overreactions can be sudden tears, angry outbursts, or laughter. It is important to understand that the person has lost some control over emotional responses. Take for instance his reaction in the dreamscape regarding Timon... No control over that outburst due to part of the brain not functioning properly." A head shake, "As a cub myself growing up, out of all of us cubs of his; only me and a halfbreed sister heard much of his his self mutters, frustrations on many things. But mainly, why he was the way he was. And about the lack of control over himself and his outbursts. Yes, he did kill Zuhour in the end. Best she'd be gone, if you ask me for that hyena dont care bout anything but keeping herself in power and having all the food. Uncle Mufasa on the other paw, well. It was his - Scar's body that did the deed, not his spirit. And..." Looking to Kion now. "Am sure you both remember that day the scorpion Sumu stung your tail, Simba? Scar could have ended everything right then in the volcano, the Lion Guard also. Not just prevent the ash getting to you. He purposely chose not to take the win right then, despite having the moment to."
A bit of magic from a paw wave gesture, the unsceen scenes of then shown to Simba.
"...Reason I laugh like that when a fiery spirit, a coping mechanism... Hell makes even a tiny prick wound feel like ten or so times worse of pain. That scar, even in live still caused me much pain." Scar's voice.
"You don't have to believe me, I wish none to go down the path I fell to. Darkness, Corruption. Power... Power corrupts. Breaking the... for lack of better word, spirit bond between myself and Kion may destroy both of us. Could potentially result in a Zuhour-version or worse of myself using Kion. While I can't change the past; and even if one could it is not recommended to as more often than not that causes more problems... I can, at the very least keep your son Kion from leaning into the path I fell..."
Kion looking to his dad, "If even Grandfather can still forgive Scar, and I've spoke to other family - Grandmother Sarabi, even, can forgive him just as I have... Mother has too.. Knowing now that he wasn't in control of a lot regarding what he did, due to the brain damage and scar. It's only you left, father. And as you may need to see what affects the venom hand on me, to understand some of what he went through..." A small roar, the surroundings showing times of Kion's journey to the Tree of Life - the one far away.
- Events from facing Scar, getting his own scar and up to reaching the destination, and the first verdict regarding the Night Pride on Kion. -
"I understand their reasoning now, if I had lost control of the roar again... especially by their sacred tree... Seems some luck was on our family's side, as it was Rani's grandmother Queen Janna that told her a bit about the Roar, and to welcome us. But if not for her, I realized while my friends were clearing the accidental blockage and getting Bunga out, that they would have found another way to help me. If the Tree of Life was off limits." Continues the scene from the pausehold, his song at the denial of entering the Kingdom at first, then on hearing and seeing his friends. "Scar had friends like that once, lost them early. All he had left after was Mufasa, and as his nightmare shown us - his biggest fear was being abandoned. By his only remaining family, big brother Mufasa. Perhaps, like I ended up ruling the Tree of Life alongside Rani, Scar was meant a similar fate in another Kingdom."
Scar voice adding, "I had gone to that same Kingdom - twice even, that tree. First had a rogue healer, let's just say things didn't go quite as intended. Second time, had others with me. Family. Which convinced them to give me another chance, and a closer looking at. Well, short of it is simply - there is no cure anywhere for the altered venoms, but one can train one's self against it. That, is what I helped the Night Pride of then focus on. Focusing on getting those affected like myself focused, calm, patient, relaxed while still attentively alert. And, as all can see that worked even for Kion here."

"Not his spirit?" Simba burst out in anger. "If only his body wanted it, his spirit wouldn't have become fire. His spirit is evil, just like his body was." Of course, Shari was trying to protect her father, it was understandable, Simba knew it. But he had a different point of view.
The king paused here. He let out a long sigh, shaking his head in puzzlement. In silence he looked at the barren land that lay beyond, illuminated by the moonlight. What was the point of this? Why did they have to fight for so long?
Simba then looked at Kion when he started talking about forgiveness. He was angry and hurt by the past, but as he looked into Kion's eyes somewhere deep inside his heart he knew his son was right. Forgiveness was a noble trait, indeed, and anger would not make things better.
Tumblr media
His inner temper soon calming down, the lion glanced at the starry sky above for a moment, and as he did so, a wise saying came to his mind. He could almost hear it in the wind, whispering,
You can't fight fire with fire.
Tumblr media
Finally understanding the meaning behind, Simba gave his son a warm smile before he nuzzled him. It seems, it was always his kids who reminded him of virtues: Kiara of the truth of 'we are one' and Kion of the truth of forgiveness.

I finally have something cohesive enough to post, so here we go with a messy writing about my Kion story!
When Kion was bitten by Ushari, he was rushed to Rafiki, but the old mjuzi could only do so much. He could treat the wound enough to save Kion's life, but the young lion was going to lose sight in that eye. Similarly, Ono had lost his sight after getting ash from the volcano in his eyes. The only place Rafiki knew that could help both Kion and Ono regain their sight was the Tree of Life. And so, the Lion Guard made the journey- Makini accompanying them to help Kion ease the pain in his wound.
When they finally met Queen Janna, she revealed she could somewhat restore Ono's sight, but for Kion, she could only postpone his blindness. He stayed with the Night Pride for a bit to get used to his new half-sight, during which time he and Rani grew close. They tried a relationship, but things didn't work out. The two tried to write their relationship off as being young, hormones high, and it was doomed to fail from the start. When the Lion Guard left for the Pridelands, Kion and Rani parted ways as friends, pledging each of their teams to the other, should they get into too much trouble.
Back home, Kion is baffled to find that in his time away, he and his Guard have been replaced by a bunch of Outsiders! Shortly following this revelation is the battle of the Guards, which results in a tie before the final challenge: Kion vs Vitani. Kion knew he could win if he just used the Roar of the Elders, but he also knew his days as the Fiercest and the leader of his Guard were numbered as his sight slowly degenerated. Considering this knowledge- as well as the fact that Vitani was willing to challenge him despite the Roar -Kion forfeited the mashindano, turning the Lion Guard status over to Vitani and her team. The former Guard mostly returned to life as normal, but they still participated in Pridelands' defense, when their individual skills were called for.
As he matured, Kion tried his paw at another relationship, this time with his sister's cubhood friend Tiifu. Once again, though, the relationship was ended. When Kion broke up with Tiifu- seeming to her to come out of nowhere -she was heartbroken, running to her friends for comfort. Kiara, Zuri, and oddly, even Vitani were there for her in her time of need. Even more surprising, this was the first time innocent, girly Tiifu realized she had feelings for bad girl Vitani. At the same time, Kion did some self-reflection and realized he was aromantic.
Alongside the KionxRani marriage, I also wrote out every Roar of the Elders development from season 3. It's still a magical, overpowered roaring cub in my universe, but there's no more tornados or levitation, because that's just too much magic and overpowered-ness for my taste. Also, the scar isn't known as the Mark of Evil in my 'verse... It's just a scar. It has no bearing on a lion's alignment.
Side notes: When Kion broke up with Tiifu, Kiara was understanding of Kion's point of view, but Zuri wouldn't even hear him out and villainized him for breaking poor Tiifu's heart. Tiifu had to talk her out of it, then Zuri finally listened and forgave Kion. She's just very protective of her friends [and maybe also had a crush on Tiifu]. Zuri already didn't trust the Outsiders [while Tiifu was very quick to trust them "If Kiara trusts you, then I do, too!"], so when Tiifu started dating Vitani, Zuri was very upfront about what would happen to Vitani if she hurt Tiifu. Tiifu had to diffuse many fights between them when their relationship was still new.

Night Pride redesigns! For context: Night Pride is the name of the Tree of Life protectors from The Lion Guard S3 And their og designs… kinda don’t click for me. Not like I hate their og designs, (the dozen ear details are a lil’ weird) and it’s cool to like their og designs. But I gave them redesigns! You might like them, or not. but these are my interesting takes And in this house we pretend the Night Pride symbol does not exist. Like the Lion Guard symbol is understandable at a few levels, the Night Pride symbol tho? no. Also sidenote… why do we only see the royal fam? Could we at least get some few lions in the bg, or other non-lions as Night Pride members? Hello? I am confusion. …and yes this a screenshot redraw don’t @ me (More detail under desc)
Nirmala: -Kind of hc she’s got blood from the Outsider pride, so line through nose, ear stripes, spots under eyes, head stripe, the works! -Adjusted hair stripe -Pelt more reddish -Uncolored paws -Since a lot of people hc she’s married into the Night Pride royal fam I tried making that more obvious in her appearance bc her og design looks too Night Pride for her to be someone that joined -dark nose gradient, since her stripe used to extend to her nose it’s a little call back. Surak: -Loses ear rims but has ear stripes still, they’re thicker though than Nirmala’s -Bunch of nasty scars, I’ll talk about the one on his eye later when I get to Rani, but as defenders from all sorts of nasty predators they all have some scars. -Same stripe as Rani does. -Dark nose gradient -Mane has two dif colors bc Asiatic lions, the lions I think the Night Pride are based off of (mane behind ear rims) have different colors, and it makes his fluffy mane pop a bit more -His pelt is more darker in color, makes him very scary but Surak is just a soft gentle giant, at least to his family. Rani: -Has her grandma’s eyes. I kind of went for “Scar but not Scar” look-ish… y’know bc of her plotline with Kion
(sidenote their romance feels rushed I’d prefer if they just were good friends. but y’know… we can’t have boy/girl friendships anymore) -The “mysterious scar” is on her shoulder this time, due to the hc I have that the incident that killed Rani and Baliyo’s parents was a fire. Rani and Surak have burn scars as reminders, Surak’s is much worse bc he saved Rani from inside the tree. -Same eye rim shape like her Uncle, but darker to make the eyes pop out more -Light nose gradient -Adjusted ear rims and color -tail tuft same as Surak and Baliyo, runs in the family! -Hair tuft, wild hair runs in the family as well -No spots on legs Baliyo:
-Still no whiskers, I hc Baliyo as trans, thanks to Tree of Life magic he’s able to grow a mane but it’s slow… and it might not be a full mane but he likes any mane in general -Eye color matches Surak. I love blue-eyed Baliyo but it made him look more related to Nirmala, and golden-eyed Baliyo is a hot take -Adjusted ear rims, he has a few notches tho -Tried toning down his head tuft a tad-ski. -His pelt is a less reddish version of Rani’s. Adjusted spots tho so he only has the ones on his leg

Thoughts On The Lion Guard Season Three
With knowing The Third Season of The Lion Guard would be it's last I was excited to see how they would wrap up the show and from the opener it was amazing! When the guard left the Pride Lands to journey to The Tree Of Life they faced a lot on the way there.
Once there Kion began his healing as did Ono. I really like how while Ono's sight got better it never did get to the point where it was back to normal because having to learn to adjust is a part of life.
Kion healed as well but like Ono he won't be the same. (In the opener he got bit by a snake and the venom from the snake made him begin to lose himself, but the venom is gone now) Kion could no longer control the roar however so he practiced and got a hold of it.
And though he had gotten it under control again, Kion was not to be the leader anymore. While at their stay at the Tree Of Life Kion fell in love with one of the lions who live there named Rani. At the Tree of life a pride of lions called The Night Pride live there who protect the animals who go there needing help. When Rani's grandmother the queen passes away (Yes they actually showed the queen dying) Rani then becomes Queen and after asking Kion to be her King Jasiri and Janja show up to tell the lion guard that Zira and her Pride were back so they came to get the guard to bring them home to protect the pride lands.
When they get that though they find out that the outsiders have joined the Pride Landers and while Kion and his Guard were away to help keep the Pride Lands safe, None other than Vitani formed her own guard. After realizing his place was no longer in the Pride Lands, Kion marks Vitani with the mark of the guard, giving her the roar of the elders and then Kion along with his friends go back to The Tree Of Life where Kion is married to Rani and becomes King of The Tree Of Life.
It was wonderful to see what happens after The Lion King 2's ending and how everything fit perfectly in the time gaps.
Fuli and Bunga ended up finding love interests as well. Which I thought was adorable!
I love this show and it's ending couldn't of been more perfect- I will miss this show that's for sure.

The Lion King 4: Dawn of a New Era Chapter 4
Petition to give Forgotten Disney More Love: https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
Chapter 4
"Aw, that was cute." Rani said.
Kion blushed a bit more. "Yeah … I … I guess it kind of was cute …"
Rani smiled and started to stand up. Kion panicked slightly and helped steady her. "Are you sure you're okay to stand?"
"Yeah,I'm feeling a lot better now." Rani said. "I think we can head home now."
Kion frowned a bit more. "Okay, if you're sure you'll be fine."
"I will be." Rani said, managing to take a step forward. "We can stop and rest if we need to."
"All right." Kion said, standing by her side. He looked over at Kiara. "Thanks again for everything."
"No problem," Kiara said, giving Kion a soft nuzzle. "You're both welcome here anytime."
"Thanks Kiara." Kion looked over at Rani who was close behind.
They exited the den and made their way down Pride Rock.
Kiara let out a small sigh when they left.
"Hey, you all right?" Kovu asked, sitting beside her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Kiara said, forcing a smile. "It's just that … so much has happened in the last few days …. I guess I'm just a little stressed out …"
"It's okay, I'm stressed too." Kovu said before giving her cheek a small lick. "It's weird, you know, .. being king … Especially after … everything …"
Kovu shivered a bit at the memories.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
My father said to never turn your back on an Outsider!
I now see the path to our glorious return to power!
Sleep my little Kovu, let your dreams take wing. One day when you're big and strong, you will be a king.
What is your destiny!?
I will avenge Scar …. Take his place in The Pride Lands …
I humbly ask to join your pride.
No! You were banished with the other Outsiders!
He wasn't my father, but he's still part of me …
Zira had a plot, and I was part of it, but I don't wanna be! Because … it's because I love you ...
Well done Kovu, just like we've always planned.
Exile!
Deception! Disgrace! Evil as plain as the scar on his face!
He is not one of us! He has never been one of us! He is not one of us! Not our kind!
Someone once lied to us, now we're not so blind!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"Kovu?" Kiara's voice broke Kovu out of his intrusive thoughts.
"Yeah?" He asked, sounding still out if it.
"Are you okay?" She asked, frowning.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
What's wrong?
Nothing ….
Kovu …
It's just that my whole life I've been trained to …. Nothing ….. I gotta go ….
Kovu … wait!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"Yeah. I'm fine." Kovu said. "I'm just not used to the whole royalty thing yet. It's just kind of weird being bowed to, and being called your highness and stuff."
Especially by an antelope who called you a disgrace …
"Yeah, pretty surreal huh?" Kiara let out a nervous chuckle before relaxing into Kovu's mane. "I'm sure we'll get used to it."
"I sure hope so." Kovu sighed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The Outlands were believed to be fully abandoned by this point, having the same fate as The Elephant Graveyard. The only remaining residents were all the termites, still scurrying through their mounds.
However that just made it prime real estate for more animals to move in.
A small cackle of hyenas shuffled in, looking around anxiously.
"Is it safe,Aiube?" A male hyena whimpered.
The leader went over to a pile of bones and sniffed it. There was a vague scent of lion, but it was faded enough for her to know they hadn't been here in a long time.
"I think so, Hofu." She said, going back to him.
Three other hyenas peaked out from behind Hofu, still unsure of their surroundings.
"We'll be safe here." Aiube said, going over to them. "There's no fresh scents here. I think it's abandoned."
"The hunting grounds don't look too promising …" One of the hyenas growled out slightly.
"Maybe not, Jeuri, but it's safe and that's all that matters." She said to him, before turning to the others. "Kidogo, Utii, what do you think?"
"I think it's great!" Utii spoke up right away, as she bounded up to Aiube's side.
"Yeah it's … nice …" Kidogo said, looking around still a bit unsure about her surroundings.
"We still don't have any food." Jeuri pointed out, rolling his eyes.
"We'll find some. " Aiube said. "I could scavenge if you'd look for a proper den for us Hofu?"
"Yes, of course!" He said, already trying to scout a place.
Aiube went off, sniffing around for any scrap of food.
The main area of The Outlands didn't really offer anything besides old bones, or termites. They couldn't live off pieces of bone and bugs … at least not if they wanted to survive that was.
Letting out a growl of desperation, she started digging, hoping to find something burrowed in the ground.
Instead she found a loose root.
Aiube sighed and started chewing on it, hoping it might subside her cravings, even if just a little. She gripped it tightly in paws and bit deeply into the wood. It felt nice against her teeth, tricking her brain for the moment into thinking she'd found a meal.
Once she was done, Aiube dropped the root and headed onward. Eventually she came across a small swamp, connecting to the other side of the territory.
Aiube paused in front of the water and examined it. Slowly, she dipped her paw in. It's shallow enough that I can wade through it.
She slowly entered the water and made her way through. She had just barely made it halfway across when she heard deep snarling.
Panicked Aiube looked around to see dozens of small yellow eyes on her. A crocodile lifted his head above the water and snarled.
Quickly looking around, Aiube caught sight of a rock and splashed her way over. Her paws were wet, making it hard to get a grip on the rock. Her paws slipped and she fell under the swamp water.
Up above her, she could see the crocodiles circling around where she'd fallen. Aiube desperately tried to paddle her way from the circle, but caught the eye of another crocodile in the process.
The crocodile lunged forward, gripping the hyena's leg in his mouth. She bit down on her lip in pain as she tried to free herself. With a rough jerk she was able to get out of his grasp. Up above her was a branch.
Aiube swam to the surface, grabbing onto the branch as tightly as she could. She put her front paws on it first, before pulling her hind legs up too, wincing when her injured leg was surfaced.
Hesitant she looked down to see a red tint in the water, and a massive wound on her leg. The crocodiles circled around her, snapping their jaws.
Aiube shimmied her way up the branch, landing in a patch of grass above. She groaned as her head hit the ground and she lost consciousness.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Binga Redesign [Sloth Bear] + Rewrite/HC:
Tumblr media
My first artwork that ever is posted on Tumblr. It's garbage and disproportionate, but it's something!! [to be clear, this isn't the only Lion King/Guard-based artwork that I've made, this is the first of many that I'll be uploading here].
I've been high off of my Lion Guard hyper fixation for the past few weeks, mainly in how demotivation and disappointing S3 was and how I should write my post-canon fic/have the events after the finale play out in my verse [which I will illustrate with some art-pieces - I'll do this here, Deviantart and on the Lion King subreddit, my user is KrattBoy2006].
However, one thing really ground my gears to a halt and made me immediately clap my hands and say "Fuck this" was fucking Binga. I refuse to accept this abominable incontinent MLP-OC-reject-pukeskin-gender-bendered little Chippette. She's 10x more annoying than Bunga is [even with Season 3's character assassination of the poor dude], her existence, personality, design, and by extension, her relationship with Bunga relies on really outdated, sexist, and overall boring hetero-romance tropes. You could cut her from the story and nothing of substance would be changed [don't believe me? Fiona Riley recorded more lines for the one episode Shabaha appears in, than for the 3 episodes Binga appears in. Take that however you will]
Out of everything in TLG S3 that I've had to tolerate or write around when it comes to my headcanons, AUs, and fics, Binga is the one thing that I flat-out choose to ignore altogether. If not because of how much cringe I endure, it's because.... she's boring lmao.
And rather than just taking the easy way out and pretending she doesn't exist [not like that's not a good option either] or by having Bunga dump this chick [again, am not entirely opposed to], I eventually just said “screw canon” and came up with my own version of her, more fleshed out than in the show itself [I’m definitely not a fan of her name since that’s another cisbend of Bunga, but until I find a good substitute, I'll go with Sloth!Binga].
Rant Aside: On with my Rewrite version of Binga. Here, she’s a sloth bear: Why that? Because A) I want to take more advantage of the Asia setting, B) because sloth bears are termite predators like honey badgers so it does fit, C) because sloth bears, much like honey badgers are incredibly fierce when they need to be, D) I’m a sucker for height difference in relationships, and E) I think them being an interspecies couple makes it very interesting, funny, and wholesome, and be a neat mirror to Timon & Pumbaa's relationship. [And before y'all say anything about how they can't have babies, note that the ability to reproduce in a relationship should not solely determine if two characters should and shouldn't get together]:
I originally wanted to have her be a honey guide [since they do also live in India]. But then I read that the whole "Honey badger/honey guide symbiotic relationship" thing was an outdated myth so I went with the next available bug-eating, Indian-native animal.
In my AU, Binga is the polar opposite of Bunga. She lived in fear and isolation as a result of immense trauma from the loss of her parents [in the same tragedy that took Sãhasí and Ãnanda and left young Rani with a scar, I'll get to that point in my verse soon]. The Night Pride adopts her out of pity and she grows up as a sister to Rani and Baliyo until she leaves on her own: Meeting Bunga inspires her to be braver, but at the same time, she is able to help Bunga become mature and level-headed, and which inspires him to eventually reconcile with Kion and apologize to him for his emotional negligence.
Bunga and Sloth!Binga have an on-off relationship. Both of them are new to the concept of actually being with someone, especially with one of them having such a coveted and busy title as the Night Pride's Bravest. They go through some ups and downs and travel around lands with each other before eventually deciding that they would rather spend the rest of their lives with each other.
I have 2 existing possible outcomes for their future:
Scenario 1:
Bunga and Binga follow Kion to the Pridelands after him and Rani's relationship falls apart, and during their time there, Bunga and Binga stay at Timon & Pumbaa's old home. When Kion returns to rebuild his alliance with the Night Pride, Bunga, and Binga opt to stay in the Pridelands, and they help advise the next Bravest of the Lion Guard .
Scenario 2:
Same as Scenario 1, except when Kion returns to the Tree of Life, Bunga and Binga return alongside him and become the surrogate aunt and uncle to Kion and Rani's kids.
In either outcome, they do end up adopting children, orphaned from both the Pridelands and the Tree of Life, much to the excitement of Grandpa Timon & Pumbaa.
For Binga's design, I tried to incorporate the sloth bear look and blend it with Binga's design. The freckles were my own design choice. Overall it doesn't look as awful as it could've been.

The Lion King 4: Dawn of a New Era Chapter 2
Petition to give Forgotten Disney More Love: https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
Chapter 2
The rain had let up, leaving The Pride Lands covered in fresh dew and puddles of water. The sun was once again shining brightly in the sky. The animals went along their usual way. There was still a mist of grief in the air.
Kiara stood at the border of The Pride Lands with Kion and Rani.
"Have a safe trip back." Kiara said, nuzzling her younger brother.
"We will." Kion said. "Are you sure you'll be okay?"
Kiara let out a small, dry laugh. "I … I think I'll be okay … thanks Kion …"
Kion turned to Rani. "Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah ..." Rani groaned slightly, folding her ears back a bit.
Kion frowned. "What's wrong, Rani?"
"N … nothing … I'm fine,I'm fine!" Rani tried to reassure, forcing a rather pained looking smile.
Kion wasn't sure and went over to his mate's side. "You're not hurt are you?" He asked, worriedly, checking her over for any injuries.
Rani rolled her eyes slightly . "No Kion, I said I'm f … Ow!" She stumbled to the ground.
"Rani!" Kion and Kiara shouted. Kiara rushed over to Rani's side, putting her paw gently on her back.
"Kion …" She said through gritted teeth. "... Kiara …."
"Please, tell me what's wrong!" Kion was nearly begging at this point.
"My stomach …" She winced. "I … I've got a really bad cramp … Ow!"
"Can you get up?" Kiara asked, trying to keep her voice level.
"I … I can try …" Rani rolled onto her stomach and staggered up. "If … if I can just make it ... to the ... Tree ... of Life … I'll be … fine …"
As she took a step towards Kion, her legs wobbled and shook. "... I can … make it ..."
Rani took another step and stumbled to the ground.
"Rani!" Kion crouched beside her. "... You can't make it to The Tree of Life like this … you need help now!"
He turned to his sister. "Kiara! Get Rafiki!"
"R ... right!" Kiara breathed out anxiously. She ran towards the direction of Rafiki's tree, trying to keep herself calm.
You can do this Kiara … You can do this! Keep calm! Keep calm! This is your first big task as queen ...You can't let it get to you! You have to stay calm! You're the queen now, you can't let fear stop you ... You need to be there for your Pride! Right now you need to be there for Rani and Kion … your family!
Kiara breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Rafiki's tree in the distance.
Sitting on one of the large branches, Rafiki was adding a fresh coat of paint to Kiara's portrait, highlighting it in various shades of blue and gold.
Rafiki looked up to the sky. "Oh Simba, your daughter is going to make The Pride Lands proud! The ceremony yesterday went very well. The Pride seems ready to accept Kiara as their queen."
He stuck his thumb into a darker shade of paint and touched up the mane on Kovu's drawing. "She and Kovu will usher in a new era of peace and prosperity in the pride, I just know it."
A small breeze passed by as Simba acknowledged the wise mandrill's words. Groups of ants, dung beetles, and termites made their way up the branches of Rafiki's tree. Even when they didn't have a message for him, Rafiki was glad to have their company.
Taking some pink paint, Rafiki put a small line over Kovu's eye. "We can finally let the scars of the past heal, and we'll be even stronger than before!"
Rafiki sighed happily as he pulled back to admire his work. "I think things can only go up from here …"
A few of the bugs started to scurry around frantically, catching Rafiki's attention.
Something is wrong ...
"Rafiki!"
He looked down to see the distraught lioness, looking up at him. "Kiara?"
"Rani's hurt!"
"What happened!?" Rafiki asked.
"I … I … I don't know." Kiara said shakily. "She and Kion were about to leave and she just … collapsed!"
"Oh dear …" Rafiki sighed in worry. He hurried down the tree to Kiara's side. "Bring me to her."
Kiara nodded and took Rafiki to her brother and his mate.
Rani laid on the ground, groaning in pain, as Kion stayed beside her, grooming her fur.
"Rafiki …" Kion sighed in relief. He moved out of the way so he could examine her.
"What is wrong?" Rafiki asked gently, stroking the young lioness' face.
"My … my … my stomach …" Rani groaned.
Rafiki moved to the other side of her and put his hands on various parts of her stomach. "Tell me if any part hurts when I touch it, okay?"
"Ok … Ow!" Rani winced.
Rafiki stopped and examined the area that had caused her pain in her lower stomach. He prodded at it again.
"Ow! Stop it! That hurts!" Rani whined.
A large smile formed on Rafiki's face as he let out a joyous laugh.
"Rafiki? What's going on?" Kion asked in confusion. "Is Rani okay?"
"Oh, Rani is perfectly fine!" Rafiki said.
"But my stomach.." Rani tried to protest.
"This …" Rafiki said, grabbing her paw, and placing it where the pain was. "... is your baby ..."
"My what!?" Rani asked in shock.
"You're pregnant!" Rafiki proclaimed excitedly.
Rani tried to sit up. "Am I really pregnant."
"Yes! Congratulations, you two!" Rafiki said, pushing Kion and Rani together.
"I'm … gonna be a father?" Kion breathed out, unsure what to think. He glanced over at Rani, and saw she looked anxious as well. Kion smiled widely and nuzzled her lovingly, wanting to comfort her.. "I love you Rani."
"I love you too." She purred, relaxing into him.
Kiara bounded over to them. "Kion! Rani! That's great! I'm so happy for you!"
She nuzzled both of them, purring lovingly.
"Thanks Kiara." Kion laughed slightly.
Rani smiled before groaning again and falling back on her side. "I still can't walk though ..."
"You'll be okay in a little while." Rafiki said, helping her up again. "You may need to rest for a while."
Kion helped Rani onto his back. "Come on let's go back to Pride Rock."
"Pride Rock?" Rani asked. "I thought we were going home."
Kion shook his head. "I don't think I can carry all the way back there."
"All right.." Rani said, sounding a bit unsure.
"You're both welcome to stay as long as you want." Kiara said, going to Kion's side and helping him carry Rani back to the den of Pride Rock.
Gently they laid her down on her side on a pile of leaves.
"Thanks ..." Rani groaned, closing her eyes.
"Kion? Kiara? What's going on?" Nala asked worriedly, going over to them.
"Nothing's wrong, mom." Kion reassured her. "It's just that well … uh …"
"What?" Nala asked, frowning slightly.
"I'm pregnant …" Rani groaned out,
"You're pregnant?" Nala asked, sounding excited.
"Yeah ..." Rani huffed out in pain.
"Oh, that's great!" Nala said, leaning down to nuzzle her daughter in law. She turned to Kion and gave him a loving lick on the cheek. "I'm so happy for both of you."
"Thanks mom." Kion said, silently relieved that she didn't seem upset by this.
"Is … Is it supposed to hurt this much?" Rani asked.
"It can." Nala said. "I had the same problem when I was carrying Kiara. It got a lot easier when I was pregnant with Kion."
She looked at Kion. "Chewing on mint plant helped me with my stomach you can find some for her?"
"Right, good idea." Kion said.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Kiara asked.
"Sure." Kion said. "It'll give us time to catch up."
The two of them headed down Pride Rock together.
"How's living at The Tree of Life going?" Kiara asked as they walked through the savannah.
"It's been great!" Kion said. "Being with Rani … is amazing! I love her so much. There's like...a warmness inside me that I've never felt before...does that make sense?"
"I get what you mean." Kiara chuckled a bit. "I feel the exact same thing when I'm with Kovu."
She sniffed the air. "I think there's a patch of mint nearby."
"There it is." Kion said, grabbing a chunk of mint out of the ground, holding them firmly in his jaw.
Kiara laughed a bit at how his cheeks puffed out, while holding the mint.
Kiara grabbed some mint too and they both headed back to Pride Rock.
Rani had managed to go from laying on her side to laying on her stomach.
Kion nearly spat out the mint leaves in front of her.
"That's gross." Rani teased.
"Hey, my mouth was starting to burn." Kion laughed.
Kiara placed her pile of mint leaves in front of Rani.
Slowly, Rani leaned forward and took a huge bite of mint leaves.
"I really hope this works." Rani said, laying her head back down on the ground.
Kion laid beside her and nuzzled her close. "Are you feeling any better at all?"
"A little...laying on my stomach doesn't hurt as bad anymore …" She said. "I think I'll be fine."
She laid her head on Kion's shoulder and closed her eyes.
Kovu and Vitani entered the den.
"Hey, we heard the good news!" Kovu said excitedly.
Kion smiled. "Yeah, I'm so happy."
He leaned down and nuzzled Rani's stomach.
Vitani smiled slyly. "Hey … I'm happy for you kid."
"Thanks Vitani." Kion said a little bashfully. He didn't want any ill feelings between him and his sister in law after the whole lion guard fiasco when Kion and the others had returned to The Pride Lands. He'd accepted that she was now the lion guard, and she and her team were doing an amazing job.
"If you need anything else, just ask." Kiara said to Rani.
"Thanks … but you don't have to …" Rani groaned out.
"No really … it's no problem …" Kiara said. "We're family now after all."
"All right … Can you help me to the watering hole?" She asked. "My mouth's kinda stinging from all this mint."
Kiara laughed a bit. "No problem."
She put her head under the crook of Rani's neck and pushed up slightly, helping her stand up. Kion was by her side too, helping steady her as they headed down Pride Rock.
There were two major water holes in The Pride Lands. One was a bit farther off, near The Elephant Graveyard. Simba was insistent that Kiara and Kion never go there without an escort. (For reasons he never fully went into, he clarified that Zazu did not count as an escort in that case …. Same with Timon and Pumbaa after the whole incident that led to her meeting Kovu.)
The one Kiara commonly went to was the small watering hole by Pride Rock. It was referred to as The Royal Water Hole. however it gained its title from its location and not usability. Simba allowed all animals to use it. It was in few of Pride Rock that he'd be able to easily see if any of his cubs were in danger at the water hole … not that anyone would try to hurt them anyways …
Kiara and Kion stopped in front of The Royal Water Hole and laid her gently on the ground. Rani lapped up water quickly, and then dunked her head under the water. She shook her head around before pulling back, and swayed slightly to dry her fur.
"Ah, that felt nice …" Rani sighed in relief.
"You wanna stay here for a while?" Kion asked.
Rani nodded, idly swirling her paw in the water.
Sounds of hooves pounded on the ground, catching the three lion's attention.
A mother zebra and her daughter stopped in front of the water hole, leaning down to take a drink. The mother pulled back and started grooming her foal. Her baby looked up and nuzzled against her.
Kion smiled warmly and looked at Rani. He nuzzled against her cheek, letting out a soft purr.
Rani laughed a bit, "Someone's feeling affectionate."
"I guess I'm just thinking about how great it's going to be, to be a dad." Kion said, resting his face on hers.
Rani smiled. "Yeah … being parents is going to be great …" Her voice faltered slightly, showing her anxiety.
A family of birds fluttered by, a mother, father, and their two babies. Kion's smile deepened as he nuzzled Rani even closer.
She relaxed slightly. "I think I'm feeling good enough to go back to Pride Rock."
Kion and Kiara helped her back up. She staggered a little bit when she first got onto her paws, but she was able to steady herself.
"I can walk by myself now." Rani said. "But thanks for helping me get down here and everything."
"No problem." Kiara said. "We're family, we look out for each other.
Rani smiled slightly. "Right … family."
The trio of lions made their way back to Pride Rock, passing various other Pride Land animals on the way back.
A mother elephant was rolling in the mud along with her calf. A gazelle and her two babies were eating a fresh patch of grass. They looked up slightly when they passed by, but when they realized they weren't hunting, they relaxed and went back to their grazing.
Kion felt his heart swell in positive emotions as they passed by many other animal parents.
I never thought I'd be a parent before Kiara was …. But he couldn't be happier.
When they made it to the base of Pride Rock, Rani's legs got shaky again trying to climb. Kion helped make sure she was steady and walked up beside her.
Once they were back in the den, Rani laid down again, resting her head on her paws.
Zazu flew in and landed in front of Kiara, bowing before her. "Good morning your highness!"
Kiara felt her stomach churn slightly at her new title. She figured it would be a while before she'd get used to being called this.
"You don't need to be so formal." Kiara let out a dry laugh. "You were my babysitter before, I think we can be … well … uh … you can just call me Kiara, okay?"
"Oh yes! Of course!" Zazu said, correcting his posture.
At least that went well … Kiara relaxed a bit.
Zazu then focused his attention on Kion and Rani.
"I've heard the great news!" Zazu said, beaming with pride. "Congratulations, you two!"
"Thanks." Kion smiled.
"Yeah." A light smile pierced Rani's lips.
"Ah, I remember when you were a baby yourself." Zazu said, nestling into the top of Kion's mane. "The Pride was thrilled when you were born! I remember it like it was yesterday …" He let out a sigh of content.
"Oh you do, do you?" Rani grinned slyly. "Why don't you tell us about it?"
Kion's face flustered as he anxiously pushed his ears back. "... N .. no Rani … I … I'm sure it's not that interesting."
"Oh come on. I wanna hear what you were like as a baby." She teased.
"And I can add in some details too!" Kiara laughed.
"As can I." Nala said, a soft smile on her face as she sat beside Kion.
Kion sighed in defeat. "All right fine …. Go ahead Zazu, mom, Kiara …"
Zazu landed in front of Rani. "He was the cutest cub ..."

The Lion King 4: The Dawn of A New Era
Chapter 1
Simba sighed as he looked down at his daughter, sitting on the rock in front of him. “One day I won’t be here, and I need you to carry on in my place. You’re a part of The Great …”
“… Circle of Life … I know …” Kiara finished, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
“Exactly! And you need to be careful … “ Simba said, putting his paw around Kiara’s back.   “...As future queen …..”
Kiara pulled back, swatting his paw away. “What if I don’t wanna be queen!?”
A cold wind whipped throughout The Pride Lands as Kiara left the den of Pride Rock. Rain whipped her fur harshly, sending a shiver down her spine.  Kovu exited the cave and sat beside her.
He frowned and gently nuzzled her. “Hey … how are you holding up?”
Kiara sighed as she returned the nuzzle. “I’m …” She put her head in the crook of Kovu’s neck. “... not …”
Kovu licked her cheek gently as tears streamed down her face and a harsh breath left her throat.
“... at all …” She finished.
Kiara looked back towards the den where Nala, Kion, Vitani, the former and the current Lion Guard, Rani, and Zazu stood.
Nala stepped forward and embraced her daughter in a warm nuzzle. Kiara cried more as she relaxed into her mother’s soft touch.
“It’s going to be all right …” Nala whispered gently.
Kiara sniffled and pulled back slightly, her gaze landing on her younger brother.
Kion stepped forward, Rani by his side. “Kiara, you’re going to do great.” He gave her a weak, yet reassuring smile.
Kiara exhaled harshly and looked back towards the tip of Pride Rock. The animals of The Pride Lands were gathering at the base, waiting … for her ...
“We’ll be by your side the whole time, okay?” Kion said, trying to reassure her the best he could.
“Thanks …” Kiara said, forcing a smile that turned quickly back into a frown. “But .. what if I can’t do this? What if I’m not ready?”
“But you are.” Nala said, calmly. “You’ve done so much for our Pride already. You stopped a war that should have ended a long time ago, you united the Prides again … Sweetheart, you’re more than ready to take your place in The Circle of Life.” She turned towards Kovu, “Both of you are ..”
Kiara grinned and snuggled into her neck.
An eldery mandrill made his way up the side of Pride Rock, over to the mourning family.
“Kiara …” Rafiki said softly, pulling her into a tight, secure hug. He looked up at the other lion standing close by. “Kovu …”
Kovu stepped forward, as Rafiki embraced him too. He’d gone from being just the weird friend of the family to being a trusted friend and shaman.
The wise mandrill looked to the sky as lightning flashed across the sky. A small smile pursed his lips as he looked over to the new rulers. “It is time …”
Kovu and Kiara made their way to the tip of Pride Rock, their family close behind.
At the base, the animals gathered in grief, letting out cries, and whines, a chorus of sadness booming throughout The Pride Lands.
Kovu and Kiara looked down at them, knowing that these were their people now and that they’d have to be good rulers for them.
Kiara glanced over at Kovu for emotional support. He leaned closer, nuzzling her cheek slightly.
“We are one …” He whispered softly into her ear.
Kiara felt the knot in her stomach disappear at these words. Kovu’s silky smooth, buttery voice made her feel more chills than the cold air did. She exhaled and took another step forward, looking down at her kingdom.
Feeling the presence of The Great Kings of The Past  standing beside her, Kiara felt a huge weight lifted off of her shoulders, and let out a loud, mighty roar.
The animals cheered and celebrated, letting out roars and various noises of their own. They stomped their feet, screeched out, and showed their loyalty to their new queen and king.
Kovu stood beside her and let out a roar of his own, soon joined by Nala, Kion,Vitani, Rani, and Vitani’s guard. Fuli let out a low growl of her own, Bunga a low snarl, Beshte a loud groaning sound, and Ono a squawk.
Zazu fluttered in front of them, bowing, while Rafiki looked to the sky, grinning.
When Kiara finished, she looked down at the kingdom. Her kingdom.
She was now their queen.
I can’t let them down ...
Once she was finished, she headed back to the den, and was comforted again by Kovu.
“You did great.” Kovu purred gently.
“Thanks ...” Kiara breathed out, a bit uneasy. “But … I’m … I’m just not sure if I’m ready ...”
“I was nervous when I first became queen too.” Nala said. “All the pressure and responsibility .. .but … I knew I would have Simba by my side the whole time.”
“And I’ll be by your side the whole time too.” Kovu reassured his mate.
“So will I.” Nala said, joining in the nuzzle.
“Me too ...” Vitani said softly, approaching her.
Kion and Rani stepped forward too. “We’ll always be here for you.”
“Yeah!” Bunga said, leaping forward. “We’ll always have your back, your highness!”
Kiara sniffled and smiled at them. “Thank you.”
“You should probably get some rest.” Nala suggested. “It’s been a long day.”
Kiara nodded and headed into the den, Kovu close behind. He laid beside her, letting her rest her head in his paws, allowing him to hold her close.
“Kovu ....” Kiara said softly, settling into his neck.
As he groomed her fur, Kiara fell asleep.
Kiara opened her eyes to see her father standing at the tip of Pride Rock.
“Daddy?” Kiara gasped out.
Simba didn’t reply, he kept looking out towards the sunrise on the horizon.
Kiara got up and nearly ran over to him. “Daddy?” Hope was evident in her voice.
Simba looked over, a small smile gracing his lips.
Tears formed in her eyes, and she nuzzled into his mane. “Daddy …”
“Shh it’s okay …” Simba said, returning the gesture. “It’s okay ...”
Kiara cried into his fur. “Daddy … I … … I can’t do this … I …. I can’t ….”
“Shh it’s okay … remember … it’s in your blood … as I am …. We are part of each other … and it’s your turn in The Circle of Life … you’re the rightful queen ...” He reassured her.
“But … what … what if I can’t do it, father!? What if I mess up and make the whole kingdom hate me!” Kiara whimpered out.
Simba let out a small laugh. “I felt the same way when I first became king.”
“Really?” Kiara asked. In her eyes, her father had always seemed so sure and proud of his position. Sure he’d told her the story of Scar and how he’d run away in guilt thinking he was responsible for his father’s death. He’d also mentioned the great amount of worry he had when returning to The Pride Lands to challenge Scar…. but he’d never mentioned any hesitation when he first became king.
Simba nuzzled her closer. “The land was already so broken and barren when I got back. I was worried the land wouldn’t be able to heal, and that we’d have to move the pride...I was scared I wouldn’t be able to fix what Scar broke …. But I knew my father was watching over me and I had Nala by my side the whole time.”
He pulled back and looked his daughter in the eyes. “I’ll always be watching over you Kiara … and you’ll have Kovu by your side.”
“But what if that’s not enough?” Kiara sniffled.
“You have to believe in yourself.” Simba said, softly. “You’ll do great. I know you will.”
He took a step back and started fading into light.
“Daddy …. daddy!” Kiara whined, stepping towards him. “Please don’t leave daddy! Daddy!”
Simba faded away into beams of bright, white, light.
Kiara’s eyes snapped open as she let out a gasp.
“Kiara?” Kovu asked, groggily. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah...yeah I’m fine.” Kiara said. “I just had uh .. a dream.”
Kovu frowned and nuzzled her. “Was it a bad dream?”
Kiara took a second before replying, “I …. I don’t know ...:”

A Leader With No Roar Needed
-I changed some stuff after seeing season three of The Lion Guard and gave Penda a love interest~!
Once Kion and the Guard finally made it to the tree of life, they stayed for a while as Ono and Kion began their healing. During this time Kion began to bond with princess Rani and while Kion thinks highly of her, his affections do not go past friendship though Rani's do. Once Rani becomes the queen of The Tree Of Life after her grandmother passed on she confesses to Kion and asks if he'll be her King. While flattered, Kion tells Rani he loves someone else and Rani accepts this even though she is sad that Kion does not return her feelings. Once Kion finishes his healing he and the Guard thank Rani and the night Pride for helping them and as the guard is preparing to leave Janja and Jasiri show up with Azaad telling them about Zira and her pride. The Guard then set out to try and reach The Pride Lands in time. Once the Guard reach the Pride Lands after their (After being stopped by Kiara and Kovu as he and his friends fought Vitani and her guard thinking they were still a threat) Kion who has given animals before a chance to turn over a new leaf can tell that Kovu isn't who he had grown up to be anymore and is honored to have him as a brother-in-law. Kion and Vitani have a talk about their lion guards and how instead of just having one that maybe their teams could work at different times to insure safety for The Pride Lands. Vitani and her guard end up patrolling and protecting the Pride Lands at night, while Kion and his team work during the day. While still in the Pride Lands, Azaad tells Fuli that he loves her and Fuli is shocked for a moment, before gently letting the male cheetah down. Telling him she loves another. Azaad is a bit upset as he thought for sure Fuli felt the same, but still says he'll always have her as a friend. Afterwards he leaves The Pride Lands heartbroken. It's not until another 'unexpected fall' that Azaad finds himself back at The Tree Of Life healing and while there he and Rani get to know each other more and end up falling in love and get married with Azaad becoming the king of The Tree Of Life. One night after seeing their friends get married Kion and Fuli are out late walking through the Pride Lands together after their friends had all gone on home and during a moment where the two sit to watch the stars the both end up confessing their feelings for one another they had kept in for so many years. Both Kion and Fuli are very happy to learn the other shares the same feelings and the two end up together. Later they get married and have a daughter. Name: Penda Gender: Female Parents: Kion and Fuli. Love interest: Nirmala Penda is a strong willed lion/ king cheetah cub who became the leader of the Lion Guard after her cousin was killed during a battle with some rouge lions near the border of the Pride Lands. Her cousin, Zarah was a sweet, kind and caring lion cub who used the roar when only necessary, unlike her Uncle Kion who has always had to make sure to control his anger, who that he wouldn’t turn into Scar, Zarah was a different story. While she did get angry at times, she somehow controlled it very well. The day she died, she was on patrol with her guard when some rouge lions attacked them. As the guard was fighting them off and Zarah was preparing to use the roar, She saw one of the lions had her friend and love interest pinned down, ready to kill. At this Zarah froze and panicked not knowing what to do. If she roared her friend would be hurt… At this distraction, another one of the rouges jumped her from behind and murdered her. Her love interest/friend named Kwaheri along with the others watched in horror as Zarah’s life ended before their eyes. The rouge that had Kwaheri pinned under her paws then went to kill him, however roars echoed from a short distance. Looking up, the rouges saw Kovu, Kiara, Kion, Simba and Nala all heading their way. The rouge lionesses fled, leaving the remaining guard members un-harmed. After the rouge attack, Kion had his guard watching the border everyday, as Vitani's guard did the same at night while Kovu and Kiara grieved their second born child. While their older cub Ahadi couldn’t believe she had lost her younger sister. The young guard grieved along with them. Penda was very close to her cousin and felt a great loss in her life from Zarah’s death. The young lion guard was given a few months to have a break and heal. As the time passed they began to feel better. Playing was fun again, the idea of going back to work to protect the circle of life excited them once more, though they needed a leader. Bomo, the strongest. Kwaheri, the bravest. Uru, the keenest of sight, Boga the fastest all had known Penda through Zarah and found her to be a very nice cub. One day they approached her asking if she’d consider becoming their leader. Penda was very flattered and told them she’d love to, but first wanted to speak with her family before giving them a yes. When Penda’s family said she would be great for the role, she returned to the young guard and told them she’d be their leader. Apparently, the great lions of the past also knew Penda was worthy because once Penda said yes to the other guard members. The mark of the guard appeared on her shoulder and with it. However Penda is not given the gift of the roar. Penda wears the flower proudly from then on out! Physical description: Penda is a lion/ king cheetah cub. So she doesn’t look just like her mother or father. Her fur coat is the golden fur from her father Kion, while having the king cheetah markings like her mother Fuli. She has a lion tail with a red tail tuft, unlike her mother’s tail which is long and has curl ever so slightly. She has a fur tuft on her head of the red mane color that Kion has. Penda gets her eye color from Fuli: Which is green. The lion/King cheetah cub also has the marks on her legs like Kion has. Info: Due to Penda not having the roar, Kion and Fuli worry about their daughter a lot. Fearing that one day they’ll lose her like Kovu and Kiara lost Zarah. However, as Penda grows she shows to be a great fighter and trains under Kion, Fuli and their guard as well. Penda sometimes gets stressed out about how she looks. Being the first and for now only lion/king Cheetah hybrid in the Pride Lands she wonders how she appeals to other’s eyes. When she feels this stress, she’ll go to Fuli who knows all too well how it feels to look different in the Pride Lands. Fuli grew up being asked time and time again if she was even a Cheetah. The pride land animals had NEVER seen a king Cheetah before. Only regular ones. Since Fuli was not born in the Pride Lands and wondered in after getting separated from her parents. So Penda and Fuli will have a heart to heart when Penda needs it. Fuli reminds her daughter that she is beautiful. As a teen Penda ends up falling in love with Nirmala who was named after her mother. The two met when Rani and Azaad come to visit and Nirmala wanting to see more than just the Tree Of Life was given permission by her father Surak and Mother Nirmala to go with them and see The Pride Lands. Unlike her parents who have dark brown fur Nirmala has light grey fur with dark blue eyes. She takes after her mom in wearing a flower behind her ear. She wears a light blue flower behind her left ear at all times. When Nirmala ends up realizing her feelings for Penda she confesses to the Lion Guard leader during one of her visits. Penda is very happy and after the lioness knows Penda feels the same, she takes her to a flower patch not far from Pride Rock and picks a Green Flower and then puts it behind Penda's left ear. Then  Nirmala asks Penda if she will be her girlfriend and the answer is yes! Since then Penda always wears a Green flower and after the two grow into adults, the females are married at Pride Rock where Nirmala chooses to live with her new mate and family. She and Penda will travel to The Tree Of Life to see Nirmala's side of the family and will spend a few nights there. Penda’s Lion Guard: Uru, the keenest of sight is a female Drongo. Bomo, the strongest is a female hippo. Kwaheri the bravest, is a male lion cub from the pride. Boga the fastest is a regular male Cheetah cub. Penda: Leader of the Guard/ the fiercest member. Note: Didn’t give Penda the roar since the leader of the guard is always the King and Queen’s second born cub, I figured since Penda was not in line for being a member at first to just have her marked as the new leader, plus a lion guard that does not have the roar of the elders seems bad ass to me, now they’ll have to fight more instead of just having the leader blow the bad guys away with a really powerful roar.
