Saw @einsteinsugly’s post about the kids from her verse and I kinda wanna do mine.

Layla Quinn Kelso - She's very kind and sweet but gets vicious on Halloween. (her and Betsy have a yearly prank off)

Trevor Nicholas Canton - Confident and self assured. He's also very smart and gets straight A's in school. He's basically what Finn Hudson tried to be but failed miserably. He's also on the football team.

Alisha Amira Callesti - Kind, intelligent, and minds her business. Despite being Jo's best friend, she doesn't agree to her meanness and ways of torture and does the right thing by them.

Jared Michael Kwan - He's a very reserved and introverted person despite being besties with the very extroverted Jo Mitchell. He loves being on the computer and playing video games with his friends. Similar to Alisha, he doesn't agree with Jo's methods of torture. He's also a very loyal person to the people he cares about.

Joanna "Jo" Star Mitchell - She's a lot similar to Jackie, being like a 'queen bee with a heart of gold'. She cares a lot of about what people think of her and tries to maintain a certain image of having this shiny, lavish, and rich life. But she has a lot of pain, anger, and resentment deep down that she doesn't show.

Ryland Clifford Barnes - He's basically early seasons Kelso and Nate, except with little to no redeeming qualities. He acts like some sort of god but is really just an arrogant douchebag. He's a terrible boyfriend and has no qualms about having sex with other women, despite being with Kelly. He also has no problem bragging to his teammates about his sexcapades and hitting on other women. He barely listens to, let alone respects Kelly as an individual. Alisha even broke up with him during freshman year because he kept trying to touch her boob without consent. He also doesn’t believe girls can play sports and has tried sabotaging the girls’ sport teams several times.

Mikayla Annapoorni Burke - She’s a very intelligent person and super supportive of her friends. Not to mention, super chill and easy going. Similar to Aneesa from nhie.

Sharon Michelle Adams - Sharon is very thought driven person and tends to prioritize logic over emotion. But she is very loyal and cares a lot about the people she loves.

Sarah Paige Mitchell - Sarah is a very sweet girl who cares deeply about other people’s emotions. She’s wise beyond her years and can be pretty stubborn at times. Sarah is also a good listener and supportive friend.

Etienne Marshall - I haven’t thought much for Etienne but I feel like similar to Ozzie, he can be brutally honest and into acquired tastes but at the same time, wears his heart on his sleeve more often.

Ridge Pinciotti - He’s very laid back and enjoys partying and having fun. Unlike Kristie, Delilah, and Mitch, he doesn’t really care for monogamy nor being in a serious relationship. He can see the appeal and is supportive of his friends but he’s not super into that. Some of the girls he hooks up with try to change his mind but it never works. He’s a bachelor and buddy at heart.

Raquelle "Kelly" Michelle Shaland - She’s a very bubbly and happy girl who enjoys chemistry and doing experiments. Kelly may come off as shallow at times, but isn’t even remotely close to shallow. She’s also a very forgiving person (too forgiving sometimes) and tends to have a hard time figuring out who she is on her own.

Mitchum Eduardo Pinciotti - He can be pretty mischievous and do some childish antics but truly has a good heart. He claims to not do relationships and tries to be bachelor-like just like Ridge but fails (I.e. Lilah)

Delilah Reed - She’s a lot similar to Kristie, with being rebellious and outgoing, yet still having a soft heart. But her, it’s kinda at a different extent. For my followers that watch degrassi, Kris would be like Spinner Mason and Delilah would be like Jay Hogart.

Serena Marotti - She’s very outgoing and comfortable with her sexuality. She’s also a part of the soccer team and wants to an athlete in the future and get into Stanford. She doesn’t exactly have the best track record with guys but it doesn’t stop her from being able to open her heart and leave her guard down.

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Patricia Runck - Same as canon

Nathaniel "Nate" Glenn Runck - Same as canon but he matures a lot when he starts hanging with Sarah.

it takes mikayla a moment to even look up, entirely disinterested, because talking people up has never been her strong point— but when she does, following layla's gaze to her, her blood begins to boil, chest swelling with a burning jealousy. sure, mikayla might have a boyfriend — layla's ex boyfriend, though she's never seemed to particularly care about that, at least not as far as mikayla's noticed — but her actual feelings are for her, the girl layla's looking at. she's right, even if cute doesn't seem like a strong enough term for what taissa is, but mikayla can't possibly admit that.

“ what the fuck— ” she spits out, eyes immediately narrowing as she forces her gaze away, realizing she'd been staring for too long, finding it a little easier to breathe when she's no longer looking at her. immediately, she's filled with panic, because she's not sure how layla means it— if it's just some harmless, off hand comment, or if she actually wants to do something about it. if it's the latter, mikayla's not willing to let that happen, feeling sick just at the thought, still convinced that maybe, after graduation, maybe she'll finally be willing to do something about the way she feels, forgetting about asher's existence entirely. she just needs to make it that far.

mikayla had been toying with the clip on the side of her pen, but just at the very thought of layla trying anything with taissa, it snaps off, flinging somewhere on the opposite side of the table. she doesn't care. “ she's not— she's a fucking bitch. ” ironic, coming from mikayla desousa, of all people, but it's the first defense she could think of, scrambling for anything to possibly discourage her. “ have you not listened to, like, anything i've ever said about practice? ” because she's all mikayla complains about, all asher gets to hear about any time he picks her up afterward— but she convinces herself that's normal, complaining about one person so much, because it just means she hates her, nothing else.

“ don't waste your time. she thinks she's like, too good for everyone else. ” again, ironic, but mikayla's too blinded by panic and envy to realize that much.

In her first life, Aislynn had been born a shifter, a lynx werecat. Her biological father had never been in the picture, but her mother had been so ecstatic to have a child. Unfortunately for her, she lived in an area with a pretty consistent hunter population and had never learned how to cover her tracks well.

The scent of blood had caught August’s attention and he had followed it to the small home to discover a slain shifter and a screaming infant. The decoration in the room and the baby book stated the child’s name was Aislynn. It seemed that whoever had murdered the child’s mother had been unable to do the same to the baby. So, August took her home with him, much to the concern of Chase.

She had a pretty normal childhood, all things considered. August had stolen photos and journals from the house and had paid for a proper burial, so she had some pieces of her mother. She had a family that loved her, a brother close in age to her. She was happy even with having issues adapting to being around so many humans in school.

Then she met Teddy and made the biggest mistake of her young life. He had been sweet to her, another outcast type and she had fallen in love. By the time she realized what Teddy was, it was just too late. She tried to leave, but he took it poorly, and in the struggle, he accidentally snapped her neck.

Harriet had a normal life. A human life filled with love and softness. Another life that had ended far too soon over a boy with haunted eyes that she didn’t even know.

Mikayla’s life had been a hard one. Abuse, petty theft, doing what she could to survive. Plagued by nightmares of her two previous deaths, she had, admittedly, panicked when she crossed paths with Teddy. This time he let her go. He didn’t harm her. The same could not be said of Mik’s father.

Angie had gotten the softer memories of him first. She knew who and what Teddy was when they crossed paths and she loved him anyway. Unfortunately for them both, she was once again mortal and cancer doesn’t care who you are. She faded slowly, but she promised him over and over that she would come back to him, that she would find her way.

Layla kept that promise. Born to Jack and Katina, she was immortal this time. She had the memories of all of her previous lives and, even without them, she still would have loved Teddy. She doesn’t regret her lives with him because they led her to where she is now.

She got August and Hawk back as well as several other siblings. She and Teddy married and even had a child of their own. She wouldn’t trade her son for anything. Her only real regret was that she never got to see Chase again.

Landcaster Legacy Gen 6 Update #26

After Jackie and Mikayla's wedding Mads decided to decorate the house for Winterfest.

There was only one more spot in their wedding party that had yet to be filled, so Mads headed to Brindleton bay to stop by her older sister's house in order to speak to her nephew Hayes.

"Auntie Mads!" Hayes shouted after letting Mads into the house.

"Hayes!" Mads smiled at him. "I was wondering if you'd like to be the ring bearer at my wedding?"

"Really!" Hayes exclaimed. "Absolutely!"

The next day Mads had off work, but Ethan didn't, so she decided to swim around in the ocean. She spotted a jet ski further out and decided to take it for a ride, and apparently Mads needed a boat to get out to the jet ski.

Needless to say, Mads had a lot of fun ridding around on the jet ski. She was even feeling confident enough to do some flips.

Later Mads' sister, Layla invited her to Geek Con. They took some photos together and tried their hand at each of the gaming challenges, but neither did too well.

Mads decided to buy herself a festival t-shirt. She also decided to buy some swag for Ethan, because she knew he would've enjoyed going to Geek Con with them.

"Layla, want to see a picture of my wedding dress?" Mads asked her sister.

"Oh, my watcher, yes!" Layla exclaimed. "It's stunning!"

Mads and Layla shared some inside jokes, before deciding to head home for the day. The sisters hugged each other goodbye.

While waiting for Ethan to return from work, Mads made sure to give Oscar some cuddles and to eat some dinner.

After work, Ethan was feeling pretty tense. To try and cheer him up Mads enthused about their upcoming wedding. That particular topic of conversation did manage to make Ethan feel better.

"I'm so excited to marry you," Ethan said before giving her a kiss on the cheek.

The next day it was Ethan's turn for a day off, so while Mads went to work he did some housework.

When the housework was finished Ethan did some tinkering at his robotics station while Oscar watched. Later he decided to go snorkeling.

Mads received a promotion at work making her level 10 in her career! Afterwards she and Ethan decided to tour some wedding venues. The first venue they went to a small church in Tartosa but decided it was too small for the wedding they wanted to have.

The next venue they toured was a barn in Brindleton Bay, the same one Mads' parents got married in, and as much as she loved it Mads still worried about the weather in Brindleton during the early spring.

The third venue they toured was the same beach front venue that Mikayla and Jackie had gotten married in. It was beautiful but Mads and Ethan decided they didn't want to steal their friend's wedding venue.

The fourth venue was absolutely stunning, and it was absolutely stunning. The more Mads and Ethan toured the more they both loved the venue and they decided to book it for their wedding.

Probably only Will Smith could get away with making a film about the early career of tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams and not even using their names in the title. In fact, the movie is centered around his relatively unknown character – the Williams sisters’ father – and the title is not even the man’s full name, but a nickname, to boot.

Therefore, you may think of a Shakespearian drama when you hear the title King Richard. But, no, it really is Venus and Serena: The Early Years.

And King Richard really is a very entertaining – if slightly predictable – bio pic about the tennis development of the teenaged Williams sisters and the determined stage dad who devoted himself to turning them into stars.

Honestly, Venus gets more significantly more screen time than Serena, but that is more due to the fact that she was the first born and first one to break out, not a judgment on their relative skills. In fact more than once later in the film, their dad says he expects Venus to become the best player in the world, but eventually Serena will be the best player ever in the game.

As the determined and rather stubborn father who grooms their careers – planning from childhood how they both will be tennis stars – Will Smith creates his most indelible character in quite some time. Because the truth is – and this is a truth that King Richard and Smith both openly acknowledge – in certain ways Richard Williams is responsible for making his girls stars, but in other ways his big mouth, his thirst for the spotlight and his set ways probably actually slowed their progress.

And no matter how hard he worked the girls the cold hard fact is that the skill was there at birth. Venus and Serena are exceptional athletes, and nothing that Richard did – except perhaps for fathering them – changed that fact. If the sisters were born klutzes or not athletic, no matter how much Richard kept on them to practice, they would have never become stars. And with the skills they do have, even had they taken a more traditional path to stardom they would have made it.

Honestly, probably even a larger part in the girls’ development was their mother Brandy (Aunjanue Ellis). She was the real rock of the family, the strong, silent one who pulled the weight and picked up the pieces when Richard made missteps. She knows as well as Richard does the obstacles placed in front of their children as black girls in the then-lily-white sport of tennis, but she does not let those obstacles rule her actions like her husband often did.

However, the fact that Richard is a very fallible hero makes him even more interesting as a character. Smith plays him with great affection for his one-track determination and surety, but he allows the character flaws to shine through as well. It makes Richard a three-dimensional character, one who succeeds not just because of his well-laid plans, but also despite them.

This film lists Venus and Serena Williams as two of the executive producers, so it is nice that they were willing to allow the film to be a warts-and-all depiction of their father and their childhood. What emerges is a very eccentric take on the typical sports bio film. It has many of the expected beats, but it is often straining against the rhythm of the form.

Like the two superstar sisters who inspired this film, King Richard stands out in an often-homogenized crowd just because it is unafraid to be different.

Funkita F-Teamers Off the Blocks For Opens

Our Age Group F-Teamers shined at last week’s Nationals and now it’s time for our Open swimmers to step up to the blocks at the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships that kick off on Wednesday at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

With last year’s Nationals raced virtually due to Covid, swimmers are eager to finally race against the best in the country to see how they are positioned in the lead up to Trials that will be held in June. The meet runs till April 18 and if it’s anything like Age Nationals, we’re sure to see our F-Teamers put up some fast times.

NSW F-Teamer Meg Bailey is gearing up for a big meet.  “I’m really looking forward to Nationals this week and getting some racing under my belt. I’m hoping to post some good times with little rest coming into the meet.”

Heats will be run at night with finals taking place in the morning. This is to give the swimmers a chance to get used to the race schedule in Tokyo.
