Fanfic fanons that are now canon in Monkie Kid!
Tumblr media
This is a sequel to my post in 2021 'Things that I have to keep reminding myself are not true (or at the very least not confirmed) in 'Lego Monkie Kid' because Fandom and Fanfics have warped my perception of reality' back when we only had seasons 1-2! I made a funny list of lmk fanon tropes I found in fanfics so much that they kinda made me forget what was real and what was fanon. But after season 4 and the special, I decided to go back over things because a LOT has changed. So, without further ado, lets get into all the juicy details (with pictures!) hehehe~
Despite the events of 'Shadow Play' the rest of the gang does not know about Macaque
Okay so this one got solved immediately after season 2. Like Mac just showed up right where s2 ended. He made his presence known. Repeatedly! Relentlessly! I love him btw.
Tumblr media
MK has never told Sun Wukong that Macaque appeared while he was gone
I listed this one specifically because some fics decide to either have MK confess to Wukong that Mac's been in contact with him after his debut episode, or MK might keep it a secret. But in the grand scheme since his debut, its kinda irrelevant now. Man is everywhere.
The Gold Fillet has not been mentioned
This is also no longer true! I mean we see it a lot but there's not a conversation about it specifically. I think that counts... (We're gonna get to the juicy ones I promise)
MK's real name has not been mentioned in the Dub
Still true! (I should clarify; I mean they havent told us what it is. Only that MK is a nickname because his real name is too long.)
MK does not have any confirmed biological family details
Whew, okay so this one is harder. We know that MK was adopted by Pigsy after being born from a stone on FFM just like Sun Wukong. So while its not exactly like Wukong laid him as a stone egg (I mean...he might've idk) its safe to say he is more related to Wukong biologically than anyone else. Right?....I think.
MK does not have an older sister
Still true, for reasons above! (Him having an older sister happened in fanfics a lot more than you'd think)
Reincarnation has not been confirmed or denied
Comfirmed now! It was HEAVILY implied in season 3 toward the end anyway heh.
Red Son and MK are not dating
YET. (But they do have cute moments -crosses fingers-)
Tumblr media
Pigsy and Tang are not dating
Im HAPPY to say that this one is actually sort of implied to be canon? I could list a bunch of knowing looks and one off remarks but I'd be here all day gushing so I'll just go with the most obvious piece of evidence. Season 4's Pig-Napped! Has a moment where Tang is trying to get through to Pigsy, who is trapped in his ancestor's body. He mentions that he has "dedicated his life to this man (Pigsy)" and idk how else to read that if ya know what I mean. (Also this cuddle moment when he got Pigsy back. Tee-hee)
Tumblr media
Sun Wukong and Macaque have not had any kind of relation or relationship confirmed beyond "Beloved Friends"
This one is ALSO having some VIBES but not anything confirming enough for me to outright say its canon. Though there's...there's somethin' goin on. Shadow Play set the table but seasons 3-4 gave us a FUCKING ANGST MEAL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the special we learn a lot more about Macaque and Wukong's relationship. They were canonically a lot closer and more affectionate than I had originally expected and the implication of being "sworn brothers" the two sharing a home at FFM, and peach metaphors/nicknames I could write a whole book about. I can't really say it has anything as concrete as Tang saying his life is for Pigsy, but I can say the implications are MIGHTY, and their wounds are DEEP. (Shadowpeach flows in my veins so deeply, season 5 please give me what I need its Sonadow but Monkey men please gods, all of the gods, just give me--)
Mei, Red Son, and MK have never had a party or a sleepover
Weirdly enough, this totally happened??? Like not gonna lie out of all of these things on this list, this one was the one I didn't expect to come through. But they did sleep over at Red's place, and had a beach party at the end of s4.
Tumblr media
Lady Bone Demon has not been directly referred to as White Bone Spirit in the Dub
This is true, likely because they just went with a different name entirely for the English dub.
The Shame Temple is not for sex
YET.
There is no Easter Bunny, There is no Tooth Fairy, and there is no Spindrax
Honestly considering what happened to the spider gang as a whole, I'm not surprised this is still true....(RIP)
MK has not called Pigsy Dadsy (Update: a few people have confirmed this has happened) and Mk has not called Sun Wukong Dad
Im including these two together (even though the Dadsy one was already confirmed in s1) for a few reasons because I feel like I need to talk about why.
Tumblr media
MK not only has called Pigsy Dadsy, he says flat out in season 4 that Pigsy is his dad, due to adopting him. This is in reply to Mei saying that Wukong is his dad, due to the whole stone monkey thing. While its implied he and Wukong are cut from the same cloth somehow, both being mystic stone monkeys, MK only sees Pigsy as his true father.
Macaque has not been redeemed yet
This one is a lot more nuanced. While Mac is no longer their enemy and is a reluctant ally, I wouldn't call him redeemed necessary. This is mostly because around the end of season3 and all of season 4 we begin to delve into the complexity of Wukong/Macaque. It's shown that both parties did damage and hurt each other in the past. It feels a bit black and white to try and put all the blame on Macaque and say he needs to be 'redeemed' now that we know more about the two monkeys. But for the sake of argument, I will say that as of season 4, Macaque can be considered one of the good guys even if they're not his 'friends.'
His relationship with Wukong is just beginning to mend and that's a whole different can of worms, but as past antagonists go, I'd say he's got a seal of approval when it comes to being a reliable ally.
Tumblr media
Aaaaannnddddd that's all the ones I had! This was really fun to comb through all of the fanfic themes and see how much they've snuck their way into canon (or were flat out proven to be the deal from the start) since season 2! Hopefully once season 5 rolls around I can address some of these unconfirmed fanfic themes again, and maybe even have new ones! (Right now the only one I can think of is Azure having romantic feelings for Wukong but since he's kinda gone idk if that would ever come up)
If anyone has some other fanfic themes that are so fanon they get mixed up with canon, let me know so I can make a list! mwhehehe UwU

Headcanons
A couple of general angsty headcanons!
Characters: MK, Mei, Red Son, Tang, Pigsy, Sandy, Sun Wukong and Macaque!
Because I’m quintessentially evil and I wonder what kind of small behaviours they’d all have.
Warnings: Very Spoilerish!! I don’t recommend reading if you haven’t watched season 3, it may contain slight spoilers. Actually scratch that it definitely contains spoilers DONT read if you don’t want them.
Notes: Some may be a little ooc, but I try to stay true to them as a whole! It’s angsty headcanons, so they’re a little exaggerated on the scale I would actually use them for, but I tried to keep it pretty tame. Not all of these are headcanons that I will use when writing in future posts btw, some for sure maybe but others are definitely just angst for the sake of being angst.
Also gentle reminder my requests are open! Feel free to leave an ask!! It would be greatly appreciated. See my pinned post for more details!!
MK / Qi Xiaotan!
* I feel that as expressive as Mk usually is, the pressure he inwardly, albeit unconsciously places on himself is insurmountable, and after a certain point on their journey he starts bottling up a couple more of his conventionally minor concerns. He doesn’t want to feel too bothersome, more-so than what he’s already convinced himself he is to others.
* Sleep deprived. MK feels like the one who would constantly push himself, despite the better judgement and protest of his body and it’s need for rest he’d continue training long into the night, like he has to be good enough because he’s Monkey Kings successor. From what used to be an early to bed, late to rising— to a late to bed, late to rising. He likely wouldn’t get much sleep, his sleeping in often disturbed by others or his work.
* Seeks approval. Perhaps on a lesser scale to someone like RedSon, I feel like MK generally wishes that others would look up to him as a hero, and really spares no effort in that regard. That same inner need for approval is what causes him to exert himself more than he should for others, it’s something already seen when he lost a ton of hair making clones in order to satisfy his friends needs, if to a lesser extent.
* Abandonment issues. We know that MK has to bite his tongue when complaining about his mentors absence despite the critical time for key growth, but I think the truth lies behind a bit more than that. We know he’s in this orphan limbo where Pigsy and Wukong take it upon themselves to act like his dads because he’s seen to live at the noodle shop and that’s soft and sweet, but knowing he was either abandoned or his parents died must still be a big issue for him as he likely believes the former. He’s largely a super social kid, and his friends mean a lot to him, so having them leave (like Mei), to go off on their own must be excruciating behind his supportive and encouraging nature. He wants them happy more than anything, even if that means they have to leave for a while.
* I feel like to combat these frequent inner anxieties, MK developed a nervous habit of picking at his fingers until the skin around his nails get peeled off. By no means does it hurt him, I just think he would fidget with his hands when put on the spot.
Mei / Long XiaoJiao!
* If we are going to talk about Mei angst, I think above all we should talk about the Samaudi fire rings event. Practically most of her angstier headcanons could stem from it, so I think it’s the most crucial to mention. Firstly it’s massively traumatic, and is likely to leave large impressions on her, physically and mentally as from what we’ve seen, it hurts to wield all that power. It would have definitely altered her emotional wellbeing as well, the idea of accidentally hurting your friends when you can’t control shit must be so depriving, especially for someone like Mei who is so used to constantly being around her friends to a certain degree. She loves the gang, dearly, being unable to reach out to them like before must make her incredibly fearful of what she could do, even unintentionally to them. She’s always been strong, but this is way more than she can handle. She’s not really someone that ever seems vulnerable, but the damage it might cause her physical body and mental fortitude can’t really be overlooked.
* Truly empathetic. Mei is someone who stands up for others despite the risk involved, no matter if they’re a villain or a hero, she’s really outspoken. And while that doesn’t sound particularly angsty I feel like she weighs others concerns in a higher priority of her own too frequently, enough to maybe doubt when it’s okay for her to also require comfort or counsel. Especially as she has to go through more traumatic things, it gets more necessary to have someone to talk to, but she doesn’t want to burden anyone with that kind of responsibility.
* I feel like Mei would have a lot of scars, not any major or life threatening ones, but quite a large amount of just smaller or medium-sized scars. She wouldn’t exactly be insecure about them but they are a bit of reminder to her of what she could’ve done right or done better.
* Former-ish approval issues. I think all of the traffic-light trio deal with this in varying degrees of severity and in various ways depending on who they’re seeking approval from. Similarly to Red Son, her need to be accepted is family oriented: Even though at large she’s already proven herself worthy through using the sword, I feel like there lies a certain degree of doubt deep down if she truly is. Has she really been using it for good? Does she deserve to wield it if she uses it pretty recklessly despite her good intent? I think she would wonder if she’s been selfish with the way the sword is used, as it is an item to protect her family and those she holds dear. She would also likely worry that others would judge her for the way she’d used it, especially if it were her ancestors. Kind of like, ‘She can wield that super special heirloom not even we could and this is what she used it for? Unbelievable.’ type of beat. That’s among one of her greatest insecurities her family could pick apart.
Red Son / Hong Hai’er!
* Need for approval. Out of everyone, I feel like we’re all aware of how desperate Red Son is for gratification, it’s frequently seen from the pilot to season 2. A lot of that may be a bit of a trauma response from not having his dad present for the majority of his really impactful, crucial development years, so he desperately seeks his dads approval from the moment he returns. I think it’s less about ego, (though he has a lot of it), and more about an inner need for affection. From what we know or infer from the show, his parents do love him, actually to a large degree— but they don’t explicitly show it to Red Son in a way that he hopes for. Words of affirmation are strongly important to Red Son because he never received any congratulations for his efforts and achievements and he goes out of his way to spend quality time with his dad even if it means running a small spicy noodle place with him for a bit despite it not being the most enjoyable for his dad. He just really wants to know that he’s loved now because they weren’t always super present before.
* Self-esteem issues. An issue largely rooted in that same need for approval would be proficient self esteem issues, if he’s not properly fulfilling his tasks and assignments to the highest degree— he’s not doing it properly. If he’s not receiving instant gratification for his actions and praise for those said achievements, it’s not enough. This implication that if he’s not constantly succeeding has left lasting impressions on his esteem, he cannot stand the feeling of failure despite how constant it seems to occur. Each minor infraction is another late night as he stays up to correct his mistakes or work on his next great invention because if this one too doesn’t work, when is he going to believe he’s doing well? Are all of his inventions bad? It’s not their fault— he calibrated them all correctly, does the fault lie in him, the creator?
* Maybe a bit too much of a perfectionist. Though mentioned briefly before, Red Son would be a perfectionist by habit, if his inventions aren’t working it’s his own fault, the missions he fails are his own fault, so he works to no end to assure that success rates are any higher than possible— sparing no expense. This behaviour often leaves him sacrificing his own rest time, but unlike MK he was an early to bed, early to rising, and now a late to bed early to rising, cutting largely into his schedule because he expectantly wakes at the same time. When he sleeps however is often changed because of his late night escapades for materials and time he dedicates toward studying and researching new and innovative ways to improve. Often times this means he can go days without proper sleep, though he consistently hides that fact and avoids questions despite concerns being brought up to him about it.
* Very little emotional control. Though calm on the surface, he has only a little filtering or processing of heavy or extensive emotions. It can often be difficult to regulate and he can generally be rather sensitive and temperamental, which helps recognise his sleep deprivation. I also feel like he struggles with complex emotions from a lack of proper social interaction.
Tang / Tang Shifu!
* Low self-esteem issues. Though something that seems like a pretty common theme between all of them, it is a genuine issue because there isn’t much communication between characters to help resolve each others issues. Despite his philosophical and somewhat outspoken demeanour, we can see that Tang struggles with the idea that he doesn’t have value in comparison to others on the team, often mulled over in favour of someone who can do something practical with their skills or powers: of which, Tang didn’t have for the majority of the earlier seasons and up to 3. It’s hard to feel important among the special and unique, where you don’t stand out and are considered lacking in association with those who just seem to be on a foreign, distant level to you which you can’t even hope to achieve even a sliver of what they can. That’s how Tang feels on the regular, and on the off chance he does try to prove himself— it leads to dangerous and precarious situations he might even need to be rescued from. His only importance was that of knowing the history of the Monkey King with his detailed books, and it became obsolete when MK became more accustomed to his powers and Wukong was present to just inform them of the experience with genuine recollection.
* Again, I feel like Tang is just someone who’s constantly talked over among even his friends, but feels as though he can’t even make a complaint toward them due to his low self esteem— as though, because he’s useless he shouldn’t have an opinion and shouldn’t express often as if he should know his place and that because he’s valueless it isn’t his place to say anything or have any input. Though that’s just his own belief on the matter, it’s something he would just hold in, an unspoken inner worry even if the others express their concerns.
* He might be a bit of a sloth. Not in the way he is exactly lazy, I just feel like Tang is a character who doesn’t have the same motivation to get out of bed everyday like most others seen in the show. It’s more that it’s difficult to encourage him to do anything because he’s too consumed in the idea that everyone might hate or leave him because he doesn’t have the most practical utility and he might mess it all up for everyone. He would just be lethargic, like his body is coated in cement from the build up of negative insecurity, heavy and difficult to resist against no matter what he does, like swimming through quicksand. It’s a tedious concept to explain, but if you know the feeling, then you should be able to relate and understand this concept.
* It might just be my own personal HC, but I think Tang is the kind of a character who seems to have grown up a little too fast in his developmental years, resulting in a rather childish personality to emerge in response. A lot of Tangs past is quite the mystery, and we aren’t lead to believe anything other than him being the reincarnation of a certain monk as he starts discovering some of his own powers. He seems like his social needs were a bit neglected, so his only friends are limited to the group: him and his habit of taking free food largely revolving around the idea that it’s the only way to maintain his friendship with Pigsy outside the idea that they’ve known each other for a long time. Tang doesn’t want to be just another face in the crowd especially towards his friends. He just seems like the type to use his imagination to make friends, trying to be super social to make up for some attention he lacked from parents— if he actually has any.
Pigsy / Zhu Dachu!
* Scarred hands. As a chef, Pigsy’s hands are his pride and joy and his bare, most essential tool in the art of culinary. As much as he is a true professional, accidents occur frequently when you’ve got kids interrupting your time in the kitchen with their shenanigans every so often, it’s nearly unavoidable to have a couple slip-ups. Plus years of the art must have a lot of learning through experience, it’s inevitable to have them pretty roughed up no matter how light of an activity cooking is. Only those who’ve beaten dough into shape like a sergeant in the military for twenty years can dare to explicitly say otherwise. But it’s his passion, can’t get enough of it. The scars vary in size and shape, some are more faded and some more recent. His hands are weathered with experience but I don’t believe that’s necessarily a bad thing.
* Extended headcanon of above if you’re like me and enjoy the idea of causing characters you love grief and heartbreak— What if eventually he loses the ability to use his hands in order to cook? The heartbreak of losing what you’re most passionate about in the world ever? I think he would be utterly distraught, especially with how sentimental it has been for him and it being his entire career— he would be devastated to never use his hands to make something again. It’d be like tearing away his greatest talent, a husk of who he formerly was. But I don’t think it would really stop him, instead he’d live his passion through others— encouraging MK or Mei to try out his recipes, regardless of how inedible it might turn out, the point is that his passion for cooking wouldn’t rest even if you took away his ability to.
* He’s definitely a bit jealous of the new father figure MK has adopted, very easily and without much convincing mind you. He’s maybe a little bit worried MK doesn’t really consider him on the same level as Wukong even though he’d been the one to practically raise him thus far. It’s only a natural reaction, but I’m sure he’d involve a certain level of guilt knowing that it isn’t his choice on who MK wants to see as a father figure and he shouldn’t pressure him about it. He just feels that his position of his acting dad might be threatened by Wukong despite repeated reassurances. He’s aware that having such a disciple and master relationship is like a dream to MK but there’s an underlying fear that he can’t be considered on the same tier as the kids idol he’s had since childhood and that it might develop beyond that as they grow closer, casting Pigsy into the shadows. He just can’t convey that jealousy to MK because he’s uncertain it’ll make him seem immature and uncool.
Sandy / Sha Dali!
I apologise if Sandy’s one is super short I’m still unsure of how to go about writing him for the most part so I’m working my way towards it. I’m aware it isn’t super angsty but how could you ever make the big guy sad.
* Okay so my favourite headcanon for Sandy is that Mo, his cat, is actually an emotional support cat!! When he decided he wasn’t going to be super angry about things anymore and wanted to end his old ways of constantly fighting, I like to imagine that he went through several methods in order to find something that could soothe him. Getting Mo was among one of his last attempts and honestly he fell for the little guy instantly and now he’s coping with his emotions in a much healthier way. Sure, he might still have some difficulty with a fluctuating temper, but overtime he’s come to terms with the fact that it’s okay to be angry, and he’s working around making a positive environment that can let him feel things and still be alright and remain rational. He knows that his feelings are natural and he’s on his way to becoming fully in tune with them how he wants to be on his own terms. I think at some point he would’ve actually dyed Mo’s fur (though I don’t doubt it isn’t natural with lego physics) and styled him to match his owner so they could stay more connected and would be able to recognise him if he was ever lost. He’s really turned over a new leaf and Mo has very much become part of Sandy’s little family.
Sun Wukong / Monkey king!
* Alright, I think it’s time we got around to unpacking a couple of things from this jar of monkeys. Wukong has a massive guilty conscience over some of the shitty things he’s done. I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad person, truly I love the character but let’s genuinely consider some things for this particular section under a neutral perspective. We all know of his massive ego, and I think because of it specifically is why this is a guilty conscience issue and not a ‘I feel like I messed up, I really regret it and I should go apologise for it,’ issue. Wukong does not act mature despite his many years of living, (as much as I write that he does xx), he has largely made many mistakes and many of which he has come to overlook and regret as bad, yet he’s not taken any action to fix things. He is aware that he hadn’t been a good mentor to MK, though he is now actively taking the steps to amend his faults, he doesn’t want to acknowledge that his absence left lasting impressions, MK explicitly reminds him by asking why he isn’t trusted. He doesn’t really want to acknowledge his own faults as a mentor. This can again be seen via the fact he’s aware that he hadn’t been a good friend to Macaque either, yet instead doesn’t even reach out to him in an attempt to to make things right between them. Instead, he selfishly just considers him an enemy, knowing that he’d hurt Macaque by abandoning and casting aside their friendship the way he did.
* Unspoken trust issues. Sun Wukong likely has his own reasons behind why he kept things to himself despite knowing how it effected members of the group— mainly being that he genuinely believed he could take it all on by himself and he would figure out what to do later as it happens, as unorganised and improbable the likelihood had been— he was willingly sacrificial. And as much as one would consider MK and Macaque to be the ones with trust issues, Wukong was often tricked and lead around by the nose frequently in his mythology, and knowing that his story is technically canonic in the lego monkie kid lore means that he had to experience those things often.
* Underlying need to be considered high and mighty. Much like the kids, deep down Wukong just wants the same gratification as they do— with them as his opportunity to change for the better, he seeks out that approval for good, seemingly wanting to shed at least some of his negatively viewed trickster titles in order to pursue a better path with their help. I feel like he needs to be reminded and assured that he’s doing a good job and that it takes time for people to change their minds. He doesn’t want to be viewed negatively, just viewed as an equal to others on the most part, and not just some immortal demon monkey.
Macaque / Liu’er Mihou!
* Has frequent night terrors. If you’ve seen another post of mine then you’ll know I personally Hc Macaque to have frequent haunting dreams that plague him throughout the night, greatly inhibiting his sleep schedule and causing some great signs of sleep deprivation on the days this occurs. A lot of it is just memories of what Lady Bone Demon has done to him, or what she could do to him if he isn’t careful and others are just traumatic scenes that have greatly impacted him at some point. He often winds up lethargic and fatigued on the days where the severity of the dreams are worse he winds up having lost more rest than he gained, ridding him of any chance of wreaking havoc for the time being. The worst extent of these terrors may cause him sleep paralysis, which combined with vivid and realistic images can make it very difficult to maintain a healthy sleeping pattern.
* In the last couple episodes of season 3, we see Macaque gets his body partially hijacked by some of LBD’s magic, (arm, eye, a bit of his leg on the right side if I can recall), which I firmly believe cannot be good for him in any way, shape or form. This likely has left weird scarring in its place, maybe some discolouration of his fur or skin, whatever it may be. And if you’re like me, I would consider those scars massive sensitive bundles of nerves and tender flesh that cannot be healed by the average means, meaning that he is stuck with large vulnerable spots where damage is twice as excruciating if he is hurt in those areas. And that eye? How it had a big ‘ol cross? He would likely have some visionary defects, such as no longer being able to see through it to some extent. This would probably cause him a couple of issues with depth perception and learning to adapt to it.
* Trust issues. Alright it’s a bit generic and to be expected of Macaque, but to be cliche doesn’t necessarily mean to be bad, as long as it works and I’m having fun. Macaque does not open up to people very often anymore after his friendship with Wukong ended on a particularly sour note. From what we know, it was none to Macaques own fault— but the damage has been done and for the most part it’s irreparable. It cannot be undone. He’s unwilling to listen to reason and won’t lower his guard to anyone. Abrasive and coarse, he isn’t easy to get close to, not that he ever was to begin with, but lowering his guard is what left him vulnerable to getting hurt to begin with, he isn’t willing to expose himself like that again. Once was enough. He would consider himself nothing short of a fool if he were to let it happen again. Trust is a very fragile concept to him because Macaques’ need to feel secure, to protect himself, is so deeply rooted inside that it can make it hard to accept genuine kindness— most often immediately assuming it’s false or a blatant lie. It clouds his beliefs and immediately places grey tinted glasses over his eyes, he immediately assumes the worst of people because from his experiences, they usually are.
* Like Mei, I think Macaque would also have a lot of scars— he’s lived a long time, I wouldn’t be surprised by the amount of trouble he’s wound up in over its course. He does shifty work too, it’s nigh impossible that he wouldn’t have a couple injuries here and there, because let’s not forget that he’s not a good person and he would likely do some really shady things for some cash. He would have all sorts of scars, from large to small, thin to faded— they’re everywhere, he’s littered in them.

Okay, even though no one asked me for my opinion,i want to write down my thoughts on what could happen in season 4 (and maybe 5) of LMK.
I do not try to predict the exact plot or who will be the villan in that arc, I only want to focus on the relationships of the characters in my little rant , so please strap in.
Oh and spoiler warnings for the people who haven't watched the show yet
Even though Monkey king is one of my Favorit characters, (tbh I love them all but if I had to make a tear list, he would be on top) and I could write a whole essay explaining why he acted like he did in season 2&3, defending his actions with every word in it, I have to agree that if we look at his relationships with the rest of the Mk crew , he has some explaining and apologising to do.
I really hope that the writers touch on the subject. Maybe they write in a short bit where he talks to Mei, apologising to her that he really didn't want her to get hurt and that he had planned it differently. (Like the short explanation we got in episode 10 but a little longer)
Like I know that this conversation is not likely to happen because, let's face it, Monkey king is on of the last characters who would actively search the conversation with someone. The talk he had with MK was probably the furthest thing we ever will get for an insight in his emotional state.
But I really hope that maybe while fighting against someone or something. Mai has to trust Monkey king for a maneuver and they have tgat whole "like I trusted you with the samadi fire??!..." conversation.
(Or maybe show how he feels through his actions, show that he truly didn't want this to happen, make him flinche , make him look concerned or other forms of body language)
Speaking of trust.
He has to work on that part to.
Not only does he have to regain the trust of the others (like Pigsy for example) , he has to lean how to trust. On more than just the basic level.
He has to learn that trusting, involving and communicating with others, is a good thing. Maybe MK can teach him something once.
They could show us his change of thinking by showing us that he is much more involved in the gang or something.
For example they have to create a plan and he works together with them developing it.
While we are at it, I really, really want a red son arc where he has to come to terms with the fact , that he thinks of MK, Mei and crew , as friends.
Maybe a whole "I, Red Son, member of the demon bull family, son of the greate DBK, realy want to hang out with you guys and not just when I need your help" moment.
The ending of season 3 implied that Sandy, Pigsy and Tang have some amount of magic.
(I'm referring to that scene where they stand together, supporting MK and they light up with magic)
And Tang was able to use magic not just that one time , but 3 times through out season 3.
When he incounterd Macaque at the light festival
When he did the ritual the activate the samadi fire
At the ending fight with LBD
I really hope they come back to that fact and not just lose it in the plot because when he has the powers of the great monk, he could seal demons away, which we know the greate monk could do. I need to see content on this part.
Bevor I get to the one thing, I would would do anything for to see, I want to point out something else I hope to get mentioned im the following season(s).
We all remember the last quote from LBD , right?
"Know this Monkey, you and I are not so different. We both fight for what we think is right. That pursuit only leads to one thing" "mhm, to destiny, right?" "No.... to pain"
My angst loving heart wants to see MK suffer.
I want to see him struggle fighting for what is right but him having to consider what he may lose , which can cause him pain.
I mean we got a glimpse on that in season 3 but what if we turn it up a nodge?
Or (because I don't know how far the writers can go) he reflects on how much pain he has indured already and he has to decide if all that was or is worth it.
Or something else, I have literally so many scenarios planned out in my head...
Now to the big thing
The thing I would do anything for.
Monkey king and Macaque becoming friends again.
Bevor you say anything, I really don't think that those two characters just hug it out and start beeing 'bff 4 Eva' again, like, no!
I don't know how mutch time they can invest in that story part. As you can see there are so many other important story bits that need to happen plus a new villan arc that has to be introduced. But please, this has to happen!
I really need to see parts of their past together, that shows that those two cared for each other, deaply, but then time passes, Monkey king does his rampage trough heaven , he gets trapped under the five phases mountain and then joins the pilgrimage.
Macaque get's wind of the fact that his old friend has been freed and is now beeing forced to work for some monk.
He wants to help him but with measures that in danger Tripitaka and Monkey king is forced to fight his friend... we all know the ending to that.
(And by the way they need to show us why Monkey king hates Macaque.
I mean it makes sense for Macaque to hate Monkey king, I mean, he killed him , and that's a really good reason to hate someone tbh, but why does Monkey king hate Macaque? I just really need Infos on that...)
And after we get that, they could slowly build their current relationship.
(But it would also work if they would build the story out of order, where we would have to put the real timeline of events together)
Just imagine,
Mk, Monkey king and Macaque have to do somthing together, like a mission or something else.
Mk wanted to go alone
(maybe incorporate the bit that he doesn't want to cause pain for himself or the others, because he constantly gets reminded of LBDs last words)
But Macaque wants to help him, he offers his help, Mk not wanting to be rude says okay, Monkey king does not trust Macaque and wants to talk MK out of it , that he should rather accompany him on the mission.
TLDR: MK , Macaque and Monkey king are now on that mission.
Things happen and the two monkies get seperated from Mk.
Now they are forced to work together. The have to fight Demons together and get back to MK (maybe having to help him ?) All while trying not to rip of each other heads.
The trip concludes with the two no longer hating each other and having formed a truce.
We probely won't get a apology scene, because none of them would ever admit (to the other) that they felt any kind of remorse for what they did. But I would really appreciate seeing on.
Maybe this truce could develop in a form af friendship again , a friendship with boundaries, but a friendship nonetheless.
Idk I really love thinking about this show and it's characters and these are just a few of my thoughts on what could happen or rather what I would want to see.
The LMK crew is really competent in creating a world and ingaging it's viewers. I hope that this show gets greenlide for all the seasons they need to tell their story and I'm excited to see it.

What do you think will happen in season 4?
Hahaha, it depends on what are you asking for!
We have so many arcs going on here and my predictions are way different than my expectations, they are almost the opposite sides of the possible plot of s4.
So SPOILERS ALERT!
Wukong is going to lose the fight with LBD of course xD I'm more than sure about it. But also he won't die, I think season 4 it's too soon for that (if the writers plan to let Wukong die at all... it would be actually interesting to see some angst when Mk literally replaces Wukong as the new Monkey King). I guess he will hide somewhere to recover and I wish he would meet Macaque halfway. They really have things to talk about. I'd like to watch the whole ep with only them talking/fighting. the fact they both have different views on what happened between them, and we don't know either what happened or what they think about it, it's just thrilling and intriguing.
Also, I'm a big fan of a theory that Wukong has kinda complex bc he hurt Mei and disappointed his successor. He's kinda still in the "punishments&praises plus self-interest" level of morality (it's a child level if you dunno what I mean), I think that's why he always runs away from consequences. He just doesn't believe in forgiveness and redemption (maybe that's why he did what he did to Macaque). So Wukong getting a bit obsessed to earn Mei and Mk forgiveness without even trying to directly apologize to them? I'm in that angst, baby
Also Macaque is finally free and nothing forces him to do anything. I'm super curious about his arc. He was my very first love in lmk, I can't hate him for anything, I just understand and feel this character too badly
Mk and the crew... I didn't watch the English translation of the scene when they talk about what they're gonna do now xd So no idea, are they looking for Mei? I don't know xd although I'm still waiting for Sandy's true potential reveal and Mk going apeshit
RED SON. YEAH.
Look, I was so hyped and I overanalyzed EVERYTHING about Red Son in season 3, my BFF read essays about him day and night for two weeks, and I'm not gonna write everything down right here right now, but LISTEN, there is no other way to explain what he's doing in this season, he got pretty attached to Mei, or at least to protagonist, but listen, hear me out omg
~ Red Son was wandering around the world with her dragon plushie, looking for Mei to help her with Samadhi ~
TRY TO READ IT AS A FRIEND'S INTENTIONS WHEN THEY ARE LITERALLY STILL STRANGERS
And however obsessed I sound, the truth is, Mei's arc is really expanded right now, she went through a lot of trauma, she holds a lot of pain, she was betrayed and used, she's not a sunny smiley sweet girl sidekick with sick dragon powers anymore. She's not someone who's gonna tease or joke with the only person who can help her with the mess she's forced to live with.
And Red Son on the other hand had his quite long now story of redemption, he's completely into supporting protagonists, even against his parents, even despite the fact protagonists literally used him, punched him, stole and wrecked his car right after he saved them and let them eat, drink and sleep in his house. We still don't know why is he doing all of this, completely selflessly and quite desperately tbh.
So whatever relation between these two will be, it visibly can't be slick and simple like their teasing-competing relationship from Spider Queen ep. They both have complex arcs now, it's hard to write their training plot as a 'buddies bonding time' thing or sth like that. They both know how serious is the situation, so their bond after 4 will be really deep and strong
Or the writers will make fun of them or put a lot of drama, I'll be mad if they make fun of my poor traumatized Mei and my selfless gold-hearted Red hero
i WISH we'll see some dragonfruit, but there is no love plot in lmk so far, and I know other cartoons directed by Sarah Harper (for example Glitch Tech), and she's not really into "let them kiss'' stuff XD however, I love her for the absolutely brilliantly created man-woman best friends tropes. Mk & Mei relationship is so purely natural friendship arc! So whatever she's up to with Red Son and Mei, I trust her it's gonna be good
Thank you so much for giving me an excuse to scream about my favorite animation. I'm always ready to write an essay about anything about this brilliant cartoon

I'm thinking spicynoodleshipping + shadowpeach #25 & 36, thank you.
Today is pain day, I just want to write angst and people being hurt physically and emotionally apparently. Sorry if you expected something more light hearted... Fair warning here for not-graphic descriptions of blood and life threatening injuries (that is once again not being taken seriously by the inured party), I wanted the excuse to follow up on a headcanon for one of these characters and I tried not to be overly descriptive.
"You have until the count of three to remove your arms from my person, or so help me…!"/ “When I say run, that means keep running."
"You have until the count of three to remove your arms from my person, or so help me...!" Red Son shouted, ocean water soaked hair sticking to his face as he tried to claw his way out of the Monkey King's hold. Steam lifted from his hair and clothes as he tried to light himself back on fire, to dry off, to get back to Xiaotian, to do something anything except be held back in his post-fight weakened state.
For his part Sun Wukong held him tighter, keeping him from slipping from his grip and falling from his cloud back into the ocean he had just fished him from or into the hard ground of the beach shores below. "Red, we have to trust them!"
"They could be DEAD Sun Wukong!"
"They can handle themselves, Red, now stop moving!" Wukong planted his foot down into the cloud as much as he could and moved to knock Red off balance to grab him around his waist and carry him away over his shoulder.
In all honesty he didn't trust his own words. Xiaotian and Red Son had been ambushed by some group of advanced tech weilding demons during some kind of outing (date, scavenger hunt, Wukong didn't take the time to ask) and they had called him for backup. He'd had no choice but to bring his current unwanted house guest, Macaque, because he didn't trust him to not antagonize the monkeys back on Mount Huaguo.
The situation had quickly gone... poorly. Red Son had already burnt himself out using far too much of his fire powers to fight the rapidly repairing bots at the demon's disposal and they had taken the time to repeatedly douse him in ocean water as an extra layer of protection. Xiaotian was holding his own but he was clearly getting tired, grateful if incredibly confused about the backup he had recieved. It hadn't taken long before the Monkie Kid turned to his mentor and asked him to take Red somewhere safe to recuperate and come back when he was "fired up" again. Macaque had shoved Red at Wukong, hissing a “When I say run, that means keep running" to the younger demon.
Red Son was decidedly unhappy about this.
"Xiaotian asked me to keep you safe and I'm not g-"
The sound of an explosion of some sort behind them stopped the Monkey King in his tracks and he turned around to see the mountain they had been flying from begin to crumble. The mountain that Xiaotian and Macaque had still been on. Crumbling...
Wukong barely registered the fact Red had stopped fighting against him and was just holding onto him and had started shaking, his hold digging through his top layer to grip the fur on his shoulders painfully. He didn't know what was worse, his own vantage point of seeing the moutain fall before his eyes after missing the explosion... or Red seeing whatever had broken it and now only being able to hear what was happening behind him as Wukong held him in a tighter grip.
"No.... no no no no no..." The Monkey King felt Red's breathing speed up and grow desperate at his words and he cursed as he made a quick beeline for the ground, stumbling and nearly falling into Red Son as he tried to set the fire demon on the ground. "No, no, they're fine, they're fine Red, I'm just going to-"
"They were still on there," Red Son whispered, grip not loosening as he tried to look past Wukong's body blocking his view.
"They're fine, they have to be."
"They were on there Wukong!" Red said again, and the small wisp of steam he felt against his cheek did not come from Red trying to dry himself off again.
The air between them grew tenser and tenser the more seconds passed and just as Wukong felt like something would snap he heard a sound from behind them. It was familar, growing louder the closer it came, and like a shooting star the end of his staff burried itself in the beach sand a few feet away from them and shrank as two seperate forms fell from the sky with varying yelps of pain and surprise, the larger one bouncing and landing a few feet further away.
"XIAOTIAN!" "XIAOTIAN, MACAQUE!" Red and Wukong shouted at the same time and Red finally let go of his iron grip. They ran toward Xiaotian, both breathing a sigh of relief as the younger man sat up with a groan. Wukong froze again when he saw the varying splashes of red coating and dripping from his shirt and jacket, opening his mouth to say something else before being cut off.
"It's not mine," Xiaotian said quickly in his heavy breathes and the tone of his voice, laced with fear and confusion and shaky as Red knelt in the sand beside him to look him over told Wukong exactly what he needed to know. The quick gaze and nod back at the other figure sent him rushing off to leave the couple to themselves. He trusted Red to take care of his student.
"Xiaotian I-I thought- the mountain it-" Red Son stumbled on his words as he let the steam tears seep from his eyes freely, not caring who saw them now that they were from relief, and he looked over the Monkie Kid. Despite being coated in fresh blood he looked... he looked fine! A few scrapes and when he looked at his neck he saw the beginning of a nasty hand shapped bruise and claw scrapes... like someone had grabbed him by he scruff of his neck and yanked hard. "What-"
"Macaque!" Xiaotian interupted, grabbing Red's hands and standing himself up. "Their robot things, they did someting and he grabbed me and jumped in front of me and-"
"Holy FUCK." Sun Wukong's exclimation startled both of the younger men and Red Son didn't need to be told to follow the other as he rushed over to the two ancient monkeys.
Macaque had bounced hard when Xiaotian had landed and lost grip on him, eventally coming to stop more than a few feet away and leaving a... genuinely concerning trail of blood behind him. Red Son couldn't help but think this was far too much blood for anyone, let alone someone as powerful as the Six-Earred Macaque himself, to leave behind and still survive.
And yet, somehow above all odds, he could see the dark furred tail weakly trying to thump against the ground from where Wukong had rolled him onto his back. The Monkey King was leaning over him, his own tail shaking stifly along with his arms as he ran his hands over his sideburns and through his hair as he was making an odd half-laugh and half-muffled yelling sound.
"Wukong, wh-oh my HEAVEN!" It was Red's turn to yell, staring down at the the other monkey in the ground.
"Hello to you too," Macaque said through gritted teeth, an expression of severly inappropriate for the situation amusement on his face.
He looked... bad. He looked bad, those were the only words Red could think of to describe the sight. Whatever glamor he had was gone, his eye scar and what would have been his milky white eye in full vew.
Unfortunately, it seemed as if something had happened because the eye was definitely not there now. Much like a nice chunk out of out of the matching arm. And he had a nasty gash in the same side.
That explained the sheer amount of blood everywhere.
"How are you alive right now?" He breathed out in disbelief.
"Let's just say," Macaque groaned, bringing up his good arm to wipe away some of the blood from his face. "Immortality and invulnerablity aren't the same for everyone. I literally cannot die."
"Like..." Red swallowed, looking at his wounds again. "Cannot... at all?"
"Cannot at all," Macaque confirmed. "But man can I get beat to shit. Healing takes forever too, but I'll heal."
There was a soft sniffling sound and something that sounded like a laugh from Red's side and when he turned he could see Xiaotian grimmacing with a half smile on his face. "I'm glad you're not going to die but never save me like that again please. I'd rather us both be hurt but in one piece next time. I almost dropped you pogoing out of there too."
"There ain't gonna be a next time kid," Macaque growled, but it was weak and didn't have any real bite behind it. He looked at Xiaotian with a glare. "And stop crying. Like I said I'll be fine, give me 3 days and I'll kick your ass when I steal you for training again. Just didn't want Peaches over here keeping me up all night with his crying if you got really hurt."
The mention of his nickname got a reaction out of Wukong, a soft chuckle and a heavy exhale of breath. All 3 other people watched in confusion as he leaned down, resting his forehead against the other monkey's softly as his tail started to sway in the sand. "I appreciate it... but now I'm gonna keep you up all night cleaning your wounds you idiot." His words were harsh but his tone of voice was soft, gentle almost, and if they listened closely they could hear a soft almost imperceptable rumble from his chest.
"That's, uh..." Macaque started, looking away from the face so close to his own. "That's still... better. Right?" He sounded just as, if not more, confused than Red Son and Xiaotian were at the Monkey King's bizarre and unexpected reaction. But he didn't tell the other ancient to stop.
"OH!" Red said suddently, turning to Xiaotian. "The demons, are they-!?"
"Dead," he responded with a sigh. "Like, super dead. If they managed to survive that explosion they were definitely buried in that... mountain-lanche? Whatever, they're not coming after us."
"Good," Wukong said softly as he sat up. "I'm gonna fly Macaque back to Mount Huaguo, you two follow us. Get cleaned up. Stay with us for the night?"
His words were stilted, awkward, but heartfelt.
The two men woudn't have said no even if they weren't.
