MEGAFAUNA OF NORTH AMERICA -- THE MAMMOTHS OF THE WEST.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a Columbian mammoth (Mammuthus columbi), a species of mammutidae reportedly much larger and taller than the woolly variety, and a mastodon is in the background. Mastodon's generally had a browsing diet, distinct from that of the contemporary Columbian mammoth, which tended towards grazing. Artwork by Raúl Martín.
EXTINCTION: Both species disappeared from North America as part of a mass extinction of most of the Pleistocene megafauna, widely believed to have been caused by a combination of climate changes at the end of the Pleistocene and overexploitation by Paleo-Indians, c. 11,000 years ago.

Manos is a mammutida- couldn't fit that in the poll itself.
Also rip me for that typo in the title. Too late to fix it now!

Is any proboscidean belonging to the extinct genus Mammut (family Mammutidae) that inhabited North and Central America during the late Miocene or late Pliocene up to their extinction at the end of the Pleistocene 10,000 to 11,000 years ago. Mastodons lived in herds and were predominantly forest-dwelling animals that lived on a mixed diet obtained by browsing and grazing, somewhat similar to their distant relatives, modern elephants, but probably with greater emphasis on browsing. M. americanum, the American mastodon, and M. pacificus, the Pacific mastodon, are the youngest and best-known species of the genus. Mastodons disappeared from North America as part of a mass extinction of most of the Pleistocene megafauna, widely believed to have been caused by a combination of climate changes at the end of the Pleistocene combined with overexploitation by Clovis hunters.

Sneak peek at what I've been working on! A Pleistocene inspired fantasy setting for 5E, as opposed to your traditional Holocene medieval-esque fantasy. Trying something new here in that the base species for the setting have fewer traits than most 5E species, but you can select additional traits at certain levels to customise them further. So yes, you can play as a human with an alligator tail and scales, an alligator person with mammoth tusks, or a cat person with a thick fluffy coat from mammutida (mammothfolk) heritage.
This is the biggest project I've worked on and it'll be a few more months before I can publish it, but I'm very excited about it.

This book will be released into the wild in under three weeks now. It's been a long time coming and I can't wait to share it with you all.
Illambria is a Pleistocene-inspired setting incorporating many Ice Age tropes. Bundle up warm against the effects of extreme cold as you venture into the unknown as a human, mammutida, sabertooth or alligatoi. Become a bard specialised in storytelling, a wizard who weaves, or a druid channeling powerful megafauna.
You will uncover the secrets of ancient and powerful magical items, fight off ice mummies by the Sea of Lost Souls, and learn to harvest components from the world around you to create all manner of useful items.
The Frigid World of Illambria: coming to DriveThru RPG October 20.

Last week was a busy week at my day job, but things have calmed down a bit now! For the next week I'll be focussing primarily on Rocket-Powered Space Football. After the second round of playtesting, I'm really happy with where it's at. While there might still be a few more tweaks, I'll be typing up the final draft of the rules this week.
I have also finally got my hands on Affinity publisher, so I can have this little game looking its very best for publication. This smaller project will be a good test run before editing The Frigid World of Illambria in Affinity to achieve the final product.
Speaking of Illambria: art has been completed for the four species' pages (human, mammutida, sabertooth and alligatoi), as well as a piece for the section on Heritage features (previously shared on this blog!) I won't be commissioning more art until I get my next paycheck from my dayjob, but I have a few ideas for things I'd like to commission once that happens. Getting closer and closer to the final product with every piece I see and it makes me so, so happy.
