People usually talk about ‘opposites attract’ in regards to Minkey, but what about Jinkibum? Kibum who beat out thousands of other candidates in national auditions, vs Jinki who didn’t even know how to dance when he started. Kibum who met Jinki in training and thought, “there’s no way we’ll be on the same team.” Jinki who’s perfectly fine not standing out, who takes the role of mediator, who would rather compromise than push a point; vs Kibum who knows exactly what he wants and fights for it, who can’t help but shine in and out of the spotlight, who speaks his mind, always.
And the thing is, they compliment each other so well. They look out for each other, constantly. Jinki looks at Key like he hung the sky, and Kibum looks at Jinki like he’s coming home. Jinki is gentle with Kibum, because he knows that he feels very deeply; and Kibum is supportive and straightforward with Jinki, because he knows that he can get too into his own head.
It’s Kibum going over the choreo step-by-step with Jinki until he has it down. It’s him telling Jinki, “don’t try to be funny. Just be yourself, that’s pretty enough.” It’s Jinki offering his hand to help Kibum off stage. It’s the way Jinki almost cried when Kibum brought a gift for him to the shooting of DICE. It’s Jinki celebrating every single award that Kibum wins, because he’s so proud. It’s the fond grins every time they reunite, the words they don’t need to say, because they already know. It’s Kibum going off script at SMTown just to tell Jinki how much he missed him.
SHINee is five, and every relationship within SHINee is beautiful. Jinkibum just holds a very special place in my heart.
