aka: Two Twins Have A Bit Of A Worse Time Than Usual And Suddenly Find Themselves In The Middle Of A Thousand Year Struggle Between Humans And Demons (Which Are Real By The Way)!

. it also happens to be an exercize in having a concept, going “hey, wouldnt it be funny if--?” and then it sticks and you have to commit. i keep trying to explain in a way that Makes Sense, but im gonna be honest. theres just So Fucking Much going on and ive been trying to write this for hours and i dont even know where to start summarizing WAHAHAH. i dont know if its very Canon Aligned but it sure is very Me Aligned and i sure am gonna commit to the bit! anyway. 

its heavily in-progress and was supposed to be a clean one-role swap but! Well!!!! It Sure Isn’t Anymore!!! 

under the cut since im Incapable of keeping things short:

funy lil swap au! ft:  Yui: “Older” Brother who Thinks he’s in charge. a beleaguered 14-year-old who stumbled into being a slayer and super isn’t prepared for this. Unfortunately, having your sole remaining family turn into a demon is kind of antithetical to “go home and pretend nothing happened.” he is handling this very well. (lie) a user of wind-breathing, his main priority is keeping him and mui safe, and is a bit overprotective. which is a problem, since mui will charge headfirst into the first sign of danger to protect him. their relationship is a bit messy, but they’re pretty much the only thing holding each other together. a kid trying so hard to act bigger than he is-- and inevitably, routinely failing.

Mui: Odd Little Creacher secretly hiding Rage More Powerful Than A Thousand Suns. just barely surviving the attack of their family one fateful night by That Man, he manages to completely break the curse and hunger or being a demon through his own sheer will. unfortunately, he also completely loses control of himself and, in order to make sure that energy doesnt completely tear him apart, his consciousness completely mists over-- leaving him rather airheaded and distant in an attempt to hold back the roaring of a new power he cannot control. . but hes so silly!! ^w^ couldn’t hurt a fly!!

Murata: Some Fucking Guy who just so happened to get roped into all this. is just absolutely baffled this kid is out here slaying demons like this, and is honestly doing his best to make sure he doesn’t stupidly get himself killed. despite being at a higher rank than them, though, he’s kind of... well, he hasn’t gotten the hang of water-breathing techniques. try as he might, he just cant quite reach the same skill level as some of his peers. even still though, he has to keep trying. he has a job to do, and promises to keep. 

Susamaru: Professionally identifies as a Problem. a user of beast-breathing, she just kind of... shows up one day and starts antagonizing. originally started fighting the twins for the honestly-kind-of-reasonable reason of “That Kid Is A Demon And Thats A Fucking Problem” but got distracted messing with yui enough to get. kinda curious about the other one. she’s loud and brash and fucking annoying, but at some point she just... asserted herself. and never left.  she’s an odd case. ridiculously skilled at the whole slaying-demons thing, she just... doesnt seem to take things seriously. has a penchant for irritating people on purpose-- but its purely for the extent of understanding how they work. what makes them tick. she’s here for a good time, not a long time. most of her peers don’t like her much, but once she’s decided that she likes someone, theres very little she wont do for them. and these nerds just so happen to be next on the list. 

. all in all, its just these dorks against the world. there’s just. a ridiculous amount of mess ive written about how they function and how their arcs shape up, and while there Are some other roles and etc written up, my brain has been completely laser focused on These Four In Particular, so . \o/ ! anyway, heres a bunch of ambient sketches from all over the place of Them(tm)

but since its makin people feel attacked, lets take this apart. itss a general fandom statement ("why are we doing this") and partially a joke since ur obviously not meant to take "schizophrenia demon" seriously, n i assume since one of this user's friends(?? i forgot to ask) spam rb it, they thought it was clear. even tho it was a neutral exasperated statement, the tags added the "reason" why the post was made (which a lot of autistics do cuz our emotions have to be justified by neurotypicals esp when we meltdown or have discomforts with specific sounds) was assumably bc personal squick

if u look in the notes there are 2 additions that are concisely saying "shadow sou is manifestation of trauma" (true for schizophrenia and system hc) and "it's incredibly inappropriate to treat his hallucination like this even if ur joking" also true, n im gonna go one step further bc i actually messaged this person instead of doing the hypocritical thing (u say this person "attacks a joke" n tags it, meanwhile u attack this person in the main tags meaning it takes up everythingggg. over one sentence!)

this user clarified in priv dms "i honestly don't mind *any* joke ships on their own, it's just. concerning as an overall fandom trend of only ever treating hallucinations lightly or inaccurately - though i didn’t realize people would latch onto this, otherwise i would've clarified the actual issue sooner" n went on to point at specific times people shared unintentionally triggering content like they're jokes for yttd n other fandoms, n pointed out the issue that if you critique in detail that people usually try to trigger you assuming ur also psychotic (which can be upsetting even if ur not), and said that apprehension was why they didnt make any long post on it and only replied to friends' comments on the post

greenie my beloved i swear every time i read anything about fair ithilien it adds a year to my life, and also in honour of the post you rb about fanfic details and research, i have a question, do you have a favourite little detail in fair ithilien (or a few little details you love) that is something that you (or the equally as lovely ms sparkly) spent quite a bit of time on that went mostly unnoticed or didn’t get the hype it deserves!!

this is such a kind, lovely ask that really made my day! i've had a few personal setbacks these past few days, including a muscle injury sustained after hitting a deer, so this is a balm for my soul.

oh goodness, there are quite a few of these! a lot of these details i love the most are also well loved by our readers, which makes me happy -- we really do have the best readership bar none. i'll just write a few that pop into my mind, most of which are @sparklyslug originals and which made me feel many an emotion upon first reading them.

sparkly has done a lot of incredible work in emphasizing the fact that steve and megan are two sides of the same coin -- megan is what steve could have been if he were female and had had more attentive parents. a knockout detail that's so small but speaks volumes is this thing she added in during chapter 2 of three weddings:

"Steve follows her subtle elbow-gesture (Megan, with how she was raised, never points a finger at anyone or anything) to where Max is standing."

it's just such a great character detail that speaks to megan's whole deal -- polite, occasionally to the point of a terrible feedback loop. speaking of feedback loops, here's another detail of sparkly's that really gets me, from there's a phrase that fits:

"As Steve explains the situation, it’s so clear he’s trying his hardest to be calm, to be level for Megan, whose warm voice Eddie can occasionally hear chiming in in the background of the call, but Eddie knows him better than most. Eddie doesn’t have to interact with Megan to guess that she’s freaking out, but doing that passive-aggressive WASP “oh no, it’s fine, it’s fine” thing that’s practically genetic. Which, Eddie knows, kicks off the same programmed behavior in Steve, trapping them both in the kind of horrible feedback loop that has been (Eddie almost wishes he didn’t know this, but he does) one of the foundational issues in their increasingly rocky marriage."

to me, that's the perfect summary of the breakdown of their marriage -- a horrible feedback loop of passive aggression where they don't actually talk about anything, because they don't know how. it also contrasts how eddie and steve later communicate with each other, far more direct and a little more than confrontational. it does so much with such tight, concise details.

as for details I've specifically contributed, oh man, haha. it's hard for me to talk about my writing in a way that isn't neutral erring toward critical, mainly because i've been through a battery of programs and career choices that have leant themselves to this behavior of mine, but by golly, am i gonna deliver because you asked so nicely.

people have noted how much they enjoy the gay man to gay man conversation that's in (well, that basically is the entirety of) there's a phrase that fits, but this is a detail i love, because it's a callback to how eddie learned to be comfortable with being gay, with this aspect of himself, in a context away from hawkins:

"“And aren’t you so proud?” It’s vicious, not innate but learned from Lloyd and the boys. Read him like a book and hit him where it hurts, sweetheart, Lloyd had purred, steady like a soldier by Eddie’s side when Tom sneered at him to impress his new boy toy. Eddie has found his own version of calculation that suits his own purposes just fine, a mix of cool cattiness and Dungeon Master character analysis. Will’s lucky it’s just Eddie taking a swing – Lloyd would have absolutely eviscerated Will if he were here right now."

both of the named people in this scenario that eddie is thinking of have been dead for a number of years, both due to tragic circumstances. this is truly a distilled moment in time, but eddie has still been permanently shaped by those who are no longer there, for better or for worse, people he only got to know for a short time before they were taken from him. tom's a complicated case for eddie, but eddie will always, always miss and love lloyd, and that lives in his body and his actions forever.

Icarus -this DUUUUDE. This GUYYYYY. SUCKS! -“uh-oh looks like I’m infected with the plague better fly directly into a social gathering” -would be an anti-masker probably  0/10

Reekwell and Gushgore -Fangor and Shed part two, but unfunny this time. 1/10 y’all suck give me Fangor and Shed back

Purvox -Purvox is apparently a beautiful red spider who teaches Hazard how to “speak” Spinner. That’s cool. -that’s it. Why did Suzanne even feel the need to name her? I’m grateful for the extra details but 2/10

Ajax -mean. -nobody likes him -this is probably why he gets on so well with Solovet -some sort of flier general, it seems, which is pretty cool 2/10

Hero & Kent -twins, I guess that’s fun -they’re only like eight but they still Smirk Evilly. Good for them 2/10 just because there’s 2 of them

Anchel & Daphne -some randos Keeda mentions as dead. They probably had some sort of significance to be mentioned by name but We’ll Never Know. 2/10 RIP though. I’m sure you’re worth higher than this but I don’t even know who you are

Horatio -crony #1 -has a crush on Dulcet. Didn’t we all 3.5/10. Boosted solely by association with Dulcet

Marcus -crony #2 3/10

Wevox -thought her name was Weavox until I began writing this post -sort of “Was Margaret Thatcher a Girlboss?” vibes -“As it is, Vikus, we will not drink. Web them” is a RAW line and it bounces around my head sometimes -the spiders are clearly very crafty about their political relations but she was not going to hesitate for a MOMENT to consider the ramifications of killing the monarch of Regalia and we gotta respect that -docking points for the girlboss thing, though. 4/10

Stellovet -queen of insults you gotta be honest -had an INCREDIBLE amount of impact for only having like three lines. I remember being like 11 and reading so many fics on Fan Fiction Dot Net where she was a scheming villain -funny how Luxa thinks her endgame is just becoming a princess. She doesn’t care beyond that she just wants to be royalty 4/10

Chim -baby -ok she’s 5 -doesn’t do anything but look confused and help provide a gateway for Howard to look like a good person 5/10, for years of life. What’s even your name? Chimney?

Andromeda -she’s good. She is an Absolute Beast when she crosses the Waterway with Howard and Mareth, definitely saved Mareth’s life -loves Mareth very much :) -shuns Ares at first but comes around, we still gotta knock her for this though 5/10

Clawsin & Bloodlet & Ratriff -Some folks who go to Ripred’s side, Clawsin gets blinded from the Bane, Ratriff gets his arm ripped off by the Bane, it is what it is 5/10 collectively

Reflex -man’s got jokes -very helpful with the code -shoots streamers of silk around the room when they break it -came to Regalia secretly... secretly to whom? The spinners? The gnawers? Whatever, he’s a rebel either way -I had to look up his name though, so apparently not a lot of impact. Sorry Reflex 5/10

Treflex -announced he was joining the quest, then IMMEDIATELY died. Yes king give us nothing -made a good snack? Gross. 5/10

Cevian -the scene where they find her body is beautifully written and so heartbreaking. She’s the catalyst for the entire fourth book -gives Aurora the opportunity to make her first ever big impassioned speech. It’s what Aurora deserved -still, she doesn’t get any dialogue so I can’t vote her super high 5/10

Euripides -seems nice -always described as “Vikus’ big grey bat,” never just big bat, never just grey bat -tells Luxa to teach Gregor how to ride a bat because his neck is getting bruised lol -nice of him not to embarrass Gregor though 6/10 speak up for yourself, king

Pend -takes Boots back to Regalia after the moth brings her to the crawlers’ land -Vikus recognizes him by name which is really impressive since crawlers look pretty homogenous, although we are told Vikus is better than most at picking them out. Still, Pend is probably a high rolling crawler. 6/10

The scorpions -I know I’m supposed to be doing named characters but they’re pretty cool. The passage they’re in is a really fun read. Mad respect 6/10 I’ll see y’all in Scorpio szn, baby

Razor -showed SHAME and GUILT in the first book when he got called out by Ripred -raised Pearlpelt as if he was his own. In payment, Pearlpelt knocked him off a cliff and then tried to eat him to hide the evidence 6/10

Fangor and Shed -funny dudes. -apparently constantly drunk 6/10

Gox -Gox got shit DONE, okay? Gox got shit DONE. -would eat your carcass without a moment of hesitation. It’s fine. 6/10

Hermes -this guy is great! -brings Luxa her crown -gets seriously injured while protecting Lizzie on their way to Regalia -might be dead tbh no one ever says 7/10

Keeda -okay listen. Keeda’s great. Keeda is that warrior at the Battle of Marathon who ran all the way back to Athens to report their victory and immediately die, except Keeda was reporting that the gnawers were about to invade -listen I know she was dealing with some other stuff, but Vikus asks, “how many rats?” And she says “many. Many rats” ??? No estimate? “An army?” Whatever. We give her a pass. 7/10 RIP

Pandora -FUCK -her death was possibly the MOST disturbing passage I’ve ever read. I could see it so, so vividly in my head. Man I remember the horror -she just wanted to explore 7/10 but also 2/10 for emotional trauma

Queen Athena -ICONIC one-liner in Curse of the Warmbloods, absolutely demolishes the gnawers over their treatment of the nibblers -I’m really biased towards her because Athena is my favorite goddess -probably could’ve done more for Ares, especially as seeing she’s supposed to be perceptive and a really good judge of character and whatnot 7/10

Daedalus -flinches in fear when Boots says she’s gonna sing a for him, specifically -basically pledges his life to Lizzie in the event the Code Room is attacked so that’s very nice 7/10

Heronian -she’s in a full body cast, but that will not stop her. 8/10

Susannah -can we talk about how she lost both of her siblings and she just keeps trucking along? -REALLY wish we knew more about her -clearly Very Kind. Can you please ask your daughter to be nicer -takes really good care of everyone she comes across :) 8/10

Min -creaky old cockroach dance 9/10

Frill -was cool -taught everyone the marks of secret -taught Hamnet about pacifism and stuff too -I get the feeling she was wayyyyy more important to Hazard and Hamnet and their survival than Gregor’s narrative really dives into 9/10

Mr. Cormaci -nice man. Gave Gregor quarters. 10/10

Gregor’s grandma -cool lady, you can’t deny! -tells Gregor he can’t outrun his issues -has a super cool quilt -who IS Simon??? 10/10

Scalene, Euclidian, Root, Cube, and Newton -felt obligated to include all these kiddos because they are, in fact, named, even though none of them get any dialogue or anything else for that matter, really -Scalene was a little nibbler pup that found her mom in the Arena, Euclidian and Root are two more that the mom was looking for, Newton was one that no one claimed but some other guy was like “any of us will take him” which is :’) but also, so, so sad. -Cube was the pup Luxa named that ended up in the pit in the Firelands -Scalene and Newton survived a genocide and Euclidian which is baller any way you swing it 10/10

Tick -:( :( :( -the selflessness. -I shipped her with Temp when I was 8? I can’t answer for that 10/10

York -LMAOOOO this guy’s a LEGEND -7 ft tall. -fights with a zweihander. -says fuck, canonically. -hosts hundreds of nibbler refugees -very loving uncle to Luxa, helps her learn how to rule - his exasperated affection towards Howard when he finds out Howard stayed in the Firelands even after he got sick was very cute 10/10

Honorable mentions: Perdita and Dulcet Their roles are too big in the last book to be included in this list, but these ladies both get a 10/10.

im going to say right off the bat, i agreed to some of these. some of these i liked. a lot i agreed to because i was afraid to say no because i didnt want to upset them. some were forced on me. some were made without my knowledge. i will not go into specifics on which ships belong in which categories unless its necessary because this post would be extremely long, but please keep this in mind if you see me reacting positively in screenshots.

for context, this was after i reblogged a post about people waiting for minors to turn 18 being gross. yes it was a vague, no i do not care. i didnt say anything to them, they came to me about this unprompted and on their own accord. if the shoe fits, i suppose.

theres been a few instances of this, but heres the main one

i run a cool blog over at @broadcastappear​. i got with a friend of mine and they made theirs one day, i made mine the next. of course, i was excited about this! i wanted to tell everyone about my cool new blog, so i started messaging people! them included!

before i get into the screenshots, here is the premise of both of our broadcast blogs:

slightly odd radio host trolls who talk to each other over the radio waves. my friends troll for their blog is crazy and stuck in the desert, mine is slightly less crazy and stuck in an apartment. shenanigans and extremely cryptic flirting ensue.

so i messaged them with a link to my blog after i made it.

its a cryptic radio blog. same concept, formatting, plot, everything.

same day. it was an hour later, actually.

they were confronted about this and denied that their blog had anything to do with ours, even though it was a clear rip off. their blog has since been deleted, i believe. 

anyway, in conclusion, i just really wanted this off my chest.

do with this information what you will. i dont care if i get hate for this, the people who know my situation know how badly this has been on me mentally. ive been archiving things in a server for months while ive been trying to cut them off and im just... fed up. i cant do it anymore. i feel gross. i am the main hub that this is circling around and no one can say thing about it but me. theres a lot more to this that im not adding, mostly because theres less proof but i still know it to be true.

im tired of adults being weird and nasty in this community. i know im an adult too but at least im not gross.

What is mspec gay?

So I made this account because I saw there was an mspec gay culture Tumblr, but it was like all of the types of mspec gay and lesbian, and I want this one to be more specific. I love and support all mspec Gays and Lesbians, but I did want a more masculine centered mspec gay blog!

So, I know the name is mspec pan gay culture, but any bi gays, Omni gays, poly gays, y'all feel free to drop in here too.
