In the second of our two-part exclusive interview, Lewis Hamilton talks with SunSport’s Formula One man Ben Hunt

While Hamilton is battling against Vettel for the title, he no longer has to fight it out with his former team-mate, Rosberg. The two had known each other since they were kids, but their relationship turned toxic at Mercedes, and when quizzed if he was happy Rosberg retired, Hamilton added: "It has not made things easier for me but it has made the environment a better place to work in. When you remove a negative and then replace it with a positive, it is like having a circuit-board and you have a bad fuse, that’s the whole frickin' unit gone. When you replace that fuse, the whole thing works again. I am still pushing myself to new limits. He could be here and I’d still be driving like this and he knows it. It’s like when you have been in an unhealthy relationship. You only stay in it because you love that person. It is not until that relationship ends and you get further down the line you realise, 'Shit, that relationship was not good for me.' We are now positive as a team. The hurricane that was built within this team is now blowing towards Ferrari." If he wins the title here in Austin, or next week in Mexico, Hamilton will equal the four titles held by Vettel and Alain Prost; however, he would become the only British driver to achieve the feat and this will cement his place as the nation’s greatest. Sometimes in his post-race interviews his sincerity is missed, but Hamilton says being a British-born four-time champion would be incredibly special. He said: “It definitely means a lot. What does it mean to me winning a fourth world title? It is difficult to say until you have got it because you don’t know how you will feel. It is a strange sport, because people complain and say that I’ve won it because I’ve got a great car, but every single world champion has a great car. It is not like tennis where it is down to the athlete. Here, it is down to the team. It is about the driver being able to exploit that complete package. But to take a step ahead of the other great drivers in Formula One, I would be very, very proud. I don’t know if you even notice but when I am on the podium and when I look back and see the British flag, I am very proud of it and I hope people see that. It is a very humbling experience."

Hamilton has since been linked with a move to Red Bull to join Max Vertappen in what would be a sensational move in Formula One. However, Red Bull boss Horner has now ruled out a move for Hamilton as he told SunSport: 'What Lewis has achieved in Formula One is second to none, but we're very happy with the drivers that we have. Christian Horner has ruled out a move for Lewis Hamilton to Red Bull Hamilton has struggled this year as there have been issues with his car at Mercedes 'They are committed as a pair not only this season but the next season as well. So I can't see where we would be able to accommodate Lewis.' Horner continued to discuss the ongoing problems at Mercedes, revealing that he has been informed that there will be upgrades to their 2023 car. 'I'm sure they are going to sort their issues out – we're certainly not writing him off yet. 'We're hearing about big Mercedes upgrades, I'm sure Ferrari aren't happy with their current position either. So we're fully expecting things to converge quickly.' With expectation that Red Bulls' competitiors will improve this year, Horner believes that his drivers will face strong competition in future races.  'Some of the racing has been fantastic and we  saw a great race again (in Saudi Arabia) between our two drivers. 'If you have two dominant cars who are racing each other then I think that does create a spetacle in itself but I have no doubts that the opposition will be coming back quickly, especially as we come back into the European season when updates start to come through.' In the second of our two-part exclusive interview, Lewis Hamilton talks with SunSport’s Formula One man Ben Hunt

Lewis Hamilton is ready to inflict three more years of pain and misery on Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. The Brit is on the verge of winning his fourth Formula One world title and can clinch it today at the United States Grand Prix in Austin if he wins and Vettel finishes outside the top five. Hamilton took a swipe at the German, who famously crashed into him at the Azerbaijan GP earlier this season. He also reveals the truth about his feelings on the shock retirement of his ex-Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who he labels "negative." Hamilton delivered his verdict on Vettel’s actions in Baku after biting his lip for four months. He said: “How Sebastian behaved in Baku and what he does has no bearing on me or how great I can be. I know where I stand in terms of being a competitor to him and I think he knows it, too. There is always respect. I don’t think, 'You did this to me.' It’s not important. It goes back to when I was a kid. I’d get a lot of racism. I wanted to knock the kid out who said stuff, but my dad would always say, 'Do your talking on the track. Beat the kid and that is more powerful.' Actions speak louder than words. Win the championship and that will silence him." Hamilton is poised to agree a new three year contract with Mercedes worth an estimated £120million, despite having fourteen months still to run on his existing deal, and while he has made no secret of the fact he is a fan of the Italian company’s supercars, he says he is out to make life a misery for their F1 team for the duration of Vettel’s contract. He said: "I do see the red car and I am a fan of the company and the brand. It would be an honour for any driver to race those cars, but it has not been an option. If Ferrari wanted me, they would have approached me. I want to work with people who want me. If they don’t want me, it is no problem. I am happy to make their life a misery for the next few years. Sebastian just re-signed, so for me and Mercedes, our goal is to make him and Ferrari unhappy for the next three years!"

Chelsea makes decision on signing Harry Maguire with England team-mate lined up According to reports, Chelsea has decided not to pursue the signing of Harry Maguire as they have shifted their focus to another potential player. The 30-year-old defender might depart from Old Trafford during this summer transfer window following his removal from the captaincy role. As for Chelsea's current options at center-back, they include Thiago Silva, Benoît Badiashile, Levi Colwill, and Trevoh Chalobah. However, there have been strong links between Colwill and Brighton, indicating a potential move, and Chalobah's departure has also been rumored.
