Wick Head Cannons for how I think the twins came to be and the shadow entity (?) probably being involved- (Actually this is just a ramble-)
Ok so.....
This is really just a thought that has been rotting and scratching in the back of my mind from a year and some months now and it's just......
So you know how most of Wick's lore is basically left up to up to interpret? Well a lot of people seem to lean into the "Mary cheated when John left for war" but..... explain when in the audio of Mary begging God to "forgive her of her sins, she was evil from the day she was born, and she hopes to be released from her sins" (that part has me questioning some things-) and the babies crying we can literally hear what seems to be a demonic growl at the end....
Now, I know that the possible theory of her cheating may be true but....what if the twins weren't of a regular father? But a demon? Like we hear in John audio when he was going to kill himself that Mary had "Invited the devil into their bed" and she blamed her problems on the church she loved so much.....
Now that may mean that
Speculation one:
Mary probably slept with a demon and in turn face birth to the twins (and they may be actual changelings), she freaks tf out, goes to the church about it (well more like the pastor) and he like "no bae I ain't fixing that shi you throw those devil spawns TF out, and get yo ass in here after and start repenting" and she may not have she keeps them, John comes home, find out his wife fr cheated and all of a sudden when he's arguing with her Tom starts crying (because the shadow entity came back for them to place a curse of sickness) and shi starts down spiraling. LIKE FAST. Benny at that time knew what was going on but not to a great extent until he died and Mary at one point use to actually care and love her children but with John probably isolating himself, the pastor pressuring her about the evil she brought into the world and the shadow entity seemingly lurking around in the forest (I think it was in one of Calebs audio John was telling him that he's not strong enough to fight of the evil in the woods or smth-) probably waiting for an opportunity to strike. And it did get one. All because of Mary. She starting neglecting her kids, probably even starved the twins and Caleb (look at them, I mean seriously why do the look so malnourished??? Even when Caleb was alive he looked like a skeleton already-). I think the only person that got a little attention was Benny (Old Man Edwards audio about Benny). So when kids started dying (She most likely killed the twins. Probably suffocated and burnt Tim (in his NWO design and mask) and for Tom it was more brutal like.... Chased her kid around, beat him and then probably shoved him off the bridge or in the well.... I'll save this for later) And when she died the pastor peiced together that "Oh fuq this placed is cursed ASF there's a demon fr fr" tries to perform an excorsim but the entity shows up and is like "Nawh today you gon die" and the cue his death by the twins....huh.....now that I think about it maybe the pastor helped Mary kill the twins-???
Uh that's it I guess, please send me your ideas on what probably went down in Wick......Jesus that was in my brain for so long....I didnt even write this properly-
Oh well-
Thank you for reading my spiral into insanity.

Billy the Kid x b!woc reader
Being the pastor’s daughter meant you had to always be on your best behavior, never stepping off the right path, walking the straight & narrow path, and her eyes towards heaven. That was until a certain outlaw rode into your life, and taught you sometimes it okay to have a taste of hell with a little bit of heaven.
A.N: reader’s last name is Bennett.
A.N2: Thank you all for the likes & feedback from part one, here’s part 2!
UPDATE: Part 3 is here!

Over the next few days, you tried to ignore Billy like the plague. He had a different idea, he would follow you like a lost puppy, never close enough for you to see, but you knew his eyes were on you. Going into town: you knew he was there. Working at the bar: you knew he was there. Even in church: you knew he was there and it drove you crazy. You all were taught to not look behind you during service, eyes forward and towards the pulpit at all times.
You were yearning to catch a glimpse of him, just to know you weren't crazy. However, you couldn't risk getting scolded by your mother for improper behavior. So you sat still, the burning of his eyes on you nagging you the entire time. As you waited for your father to finish saying goodbyes, you heard a voice behind you. “I should’ve known the pastor's daughter could clean up so well,” Billy said, looking you up and down.
“I didn't know the cowboy knew the Lord’s word either.” you responded, looking at him. “We all have our secrets, darling.” He said, a smirk appearing in the corner of his mouth. “So what are yours, Billy?” you asked, leaning on the wall and looking up at him. “I'm not telling mine if you're not telling yours, Ms. Bennet.” He grinned. You peeped inside the door and saw your father still in the middle of a conversation, so you had time. “Alright, I'll let you ask 3 questions about me, and I'll do the same with you, deal?”
“Deal. First question: Have you ever had a drink, and I ain't talking about wine?" Billy asked, to which you nodded in response. "Never. Have you ever taken someone's life?" you asked, noticing a slight twitch in his eyes. "Yes, I killed men before.” he replied, making your blood freeze. You felt your eyes go wide. “Let me guess, it goes against one of the Lord’s rules?” Billy asked, a tone of sarcasm laced in his voice. “Yes, a pretty big one!” You shouted, making him chuckle.
“Don't worry sweet thing, I'd never kill something so pure and innocent as you.” He smirked, caressing your cheek with his thumb. “I'm not so innocent, murderer.” You snapped, the grin never leaving his face. “Oh really? So you’ve held a gun before?“ Billy asked, raising his eyebrows. “Of course I have!” you answered, making him gasp loudly and putting his hand over his heart in a mocking manner. “I thought you were a proper lady Ms. Bennett! How dare you touch a gun!” he said, adding an exasperated gasp to his sentence, making you laugh.
“Shut your mouth! I know how to use one, I've just never shot one.” You said, seeing him side-eye you. “You poor soul.” you heard him whisper to himself. “So, why do you bother me so much?” you asked, giving him a sharp and challenging look. “You intrigue me, little Bennett. I don't get how you've had such a protected lifestyle.” be answered. “Having a stable life isn't protected.” You said, shrugging. “Yeah? Because I've seen those brothers of yours in the bar, and they have the same rules you do I assume.” said, making you nod.
“Bull. Shit.” he said, chuckling. “You don't even see how deprived you've been of fun because you’ve had your eyes set on heaven the whole time.” Billy said, and then you saw his smile change, his eyes darkening. “Oh. You poor little thing. You don't know what you're missing out on.” He said, making you look at the ground in embarrassment. “Eyes are up here, little girl.” he said, tilting your head up. “So then answer my last question. What do you want from me?” you asked, annoyance laced through your words.
He smirked and then grasped your necklace and tugged it slightly so you were almost nose to nose. “I thought I made my thoughts clear from the start, honey. I want you.” He said, hearing the desire in his tone.
You stepped away from him like he was a raging fire, and yet you stayed close enough to still be within arms reach. You both didn't say a word, you didn't need to. His word rang in your ears. This man was a walking sin, the devil in the form of a man: a very handsome man. His eyes glued to your face, waiting for your next move.
Just like that the word faded away. You were no longer outside the church, you were in your own little paradise. The one that surrounded you when you got lost in his eyes. Your dress softly flows in the wind, yet you don't feel the chill of the breeze. You didn't feel anything actually.
“I want you”
He didn't know how those 3 words and 8 letters affected you, but then again, maybe he did. Did he want to make you get flustered like this? Possibly. Would you slap him if no one else was around? Probably.
At the same time did you think about what he was saying? Definitely!
Before you could give him an answer, he spoke up first. “Don't you wanna live, honey?” Billy asked, giving you that same signature smile. Fuck him and his cowboy casanova ways, God excuse my French. As a matter of fact, fuck his pretty smile. Fuck his beautiful eyes. Fuck his large strong hands and make you lose your words with a simple touch. And fuck yourself for crushing on him.
Before you could answer him, you were happy to see your father walk out with your mother and father in tow. “Thank you Jesus!” you thought. “Ah! Billy. I see you've met my daughter.” He said, putting a firm hand on your shoulder. “Lovely daughter you've raised, sir. She was just helping me understand the message today, wise girl you have right there.” he said, giving you a kinder smile, but the true intentions remained a secret, one only you two knew.
“Well if you ever want to study the word more, she’ll talk to you about it. Won't you, dove?” he asked, the stern look in his eyes daring you to say “no” along with his palm on your shoulder. “Bringing a man closer to God and Jesus gets you to heaven as you always say.” You said with a nervous smile. Billy, who was now leaning on the wall, gave a knowing look in his eyes. “Closer to heaven” you say, Ms. Bennett?” He asked, a playful edge showing through his words. “Amen to that.” he said, taking your hand and kissing it softly. Before you walked away with your family, he whispered to you one last time. “Now I have a veiled excuse to have you to myself.” And with one last smirk, he walked away from you, leaving you shaken.
Your dad had no idea what he had just done. For a man of God, he seemed to be blind to the works of the blue-eyed devil in front of him.
The man who preached on saving souls from temptation just presented the blue eyed silver tongued serpent with his new Eve.
And the apples were looking riper by the minute.

Ok so I hate cheating tropes
BUT I had this fuckin idea in my head for a few days now and holy shit
Little lamb already being in a relationship with someone that her father set her up with (maybe their dads are like really close or something) but meeting rafe and his family at church one day completely ruins things
I'm talking about little lamb telling her parents that she's going to church for some late night bible reading and her dad gives her the key to the church and she tells her boyfriend (let's say his name is Richie) that her father doesn't really let her out past curfew unless it's for a good reason (her curfew is like 8pm and 9pm on a good night but if it's for like church things than he's like reluctantly agreeing while little lamb's mom is ecstatic about her loving Jesus or whatever) and that coming over to her house without invitation is like a big no no (even though rafe is like coming over whenever he can cause you know he's a BadBoy™️)
And like rafe gets her a necklace that matches her purity ring (this is a little self indulgent here but not the point) and the necklace is like super expensive and had a really nice 'R' on it and Richie thinks it for his virgin ass but really the rafe Cameron
Her father kinda despises the Cameron's bc of all rafe's run in with the law but also because of the cover ups that ward does for rafe, he thinks that all of the Cameron's, except for wheezie, are sinners because
A. Rafe is an absolute psychopath and a 'delinquent' (he's not wrong y'know 👀)
B. it's rumored that Sarah is not a virgin and that she cheated on topper (so the exact 'opposite' of his little girl THIS ISN'T MY ACTUAL VIEW OF SARAH IT'S JUST WHAT I THINK THAT RAT BASTARD PREACHER MAN WOULD THINK OF HER)
C. Ward used to be a pogue (he's an evangelical Christian of course there's going to be some classist bullshit going on)
D. Rose is seen as the other woman even if it may or not be true (since we don't know what's her deal it's either she's a homewrecker if ward divorced his wife for her or she's trying to replace Cameron's ex wife is she's dead or missing, I DON'T HATE OR THINK OF ROSE LIKE THIS IT'S JUST WHAT I THINK AN ASSHOLE EVANGELICAL PREACHER WOULD THINK OF HER)
E. He thinks that wheezie is just an innocent soul trapped in a troubled family (again he's not wrong but he gets all high and mighty over it, y'know bc he's a preacher and has major savior complex problems, he probably offers bible lessons from his youth pastor for wheezie but she begs ward not to do it and he listens for once, preacher bitch gets mad but doesn't say anything and honestly he thinks that ward is corrupting her innocent soul but mama lamb jumps in and says it's fine)
BUT that him and his family being all kind and forgiving towards them and welcoming them into the church will do wonders for rafe and his family so he kinda just puts up a fake smile at the Cameron's whenever they enter the church but little lamb's mom is like 'stop being so mean, Jesus said to love thy neighbor and gosh darn it that is what we will do even if they're... sinners' she says with a forced smile as she lightly scolds him in the back so that no one will hear them and she makes little lamb be all friendly towards rafe and the rest of the Camerons. I imagine little lambs mom is like way more cool about this kinda shit than little lamb's father
Rafe likes to tease little lamb about losing her purity ring as he's balls deep in her and says something like "oh baby... Looking at that ring knowing that you're not married and that I'm not your boyfriend is really does make this so much more fun" He grunts and thrusts harder into her as he laces his hands with hers as he plays with the ring absentmindedly as he reaches one hand down and play with her clit as he grins
"and the fact that I'm doing this in your family's church really is doing something for me" he chuckles and feels her pretty pussy flutter around him as he says these dirty little things "fuckin on the church pews... Who knew the preacher's daughter had it in her" she's clawing at his arms trying to bring herself back to earth but rafe knows that isn't going to work so he grabs her hands
"you keep moaning like that and people might come in here to see what's wrong" he holds onto her hand again and puts it back on the pew "and if people come in here they won't think of you as a little lamb anymore" she moans into her hand but he can still hear her little high pitched moan as he holds her hips even tighter as she's bent over the pews
"what if" she cuts herself off with a moanas she gives up on trying to silence her moans and holds onto pew for dear life and looks at her purity ring without a care in the world "what if that's not what I want- oh!" She grips the pew she's bent over with a harsh grip, and looks down and takes a glimpse at his cock intruding her perfect pussy "oh my freaking god!"
"c'mon baby, I know you can curse" he leans in and whispers in her ear "I've heard you do it before, playing with your pussy in the church bathrooms cursing my name AND god for 'sending me to test you' oh I know all about that" he chuckles and rubs her clit even faster
"oh my fucking god! That's so good" she holds her skirt up and let's rafe see her bare ass as he's taking her from behind "holy shit that's fuckin good" she moans out and looks back at him He laughed and let her fuck herself back onto him "now just where did you learn that, Little lamb" he says as he looks at her cute round ass bounce as she's moaning loudly again
"I'm not stupid, rafe, I've seen my fair share of videos" she huffs out a laugh before it turns into more, almost feral, moan and reaches down and guides rafe's fingers around her clit just the way she likes it and lets her skirt fall over then again before rafe just lifts it up her waist "oh god just like that, holy shit"
"maybe I was wrong" he says as he takes control back and thrusts even deeper in her "maybe you're just a wolf in sheep's clothing, huh?" He lets her rub her clit as he thrusts into her at a faster and an unsteady rhythm as he feels her getting closer too "oh my little wolf is surely full of surprises, ain't she?" She nods her head before he pulls her hair to make her look him in the eyes as he takes her from behind "c'mon answer me, little wolf" he makes eye contact with her and enjoys the fucked out look in her beautiful eyes as she struggles to even think as she moans so loudly and plays with her nipples with one hand and plays with her clit with the another
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Him calling her little wolf instead of little lamb is so funny to me 🤭 (you can ignore this but I had to get this out of my head and I'm actually kind of scared to post this on my main so you're cursed with this thought... My bad 😚)
This au is based on the idea of what would happen if little lamb's family isn't at all what it seems, so you know it's kind of a more self righteous than the wards but at least there's no drugs or run-ins with the law or cover ups for said run ins with the law or infidelity (mostly 👀)
HOLY SHIT IS RIGHT ANON OH MY GOD????
It's been so long since we've had a Little Lamb and Rafe moment I'm HERE FOR IT 🤤🤤🤤 I literally have no notes on this the description, the content?!! THE NECKLACE?!!?
Lawwwdddd forgive me I'm about to fucking SIN -

Genuinely curious, is character witness never a thing for the prosecution? They can't call people to be like, "yes, I know the accuser, they would never do this without good reason, they are not a liar"? Or is this a function of "innocent until proven guilty"?
IANAL but as I understand it, the prosecution cannot call character witnesses about the defendant being a total piece of shit unless the defendant has called a character witness themselves and thus raised the issue. just like they cannot call you to testify, but if you do, they get to cross-examine you. and as I understand it, character witnesses about other witnesses are almost never called to support the other witness because you should present them as believable anyway and if you call another guy to say "totally trust the first guy" it isn't super believable. character witnesses about other witnesses are called by the other side to say "yeah that witness is a total piece of shit who lies all the time." call a character witness about one of your own eyewitnesses and now you have two witnesses the other side can impeach the credibility of and either one of them tanks the credibility of the testimony.
in either case, the additional character witnesses would be called to impeach someone's credibility, and a pastor would not do that

Hi! For the sake of not making one post too embarrassingly long, I'll ask instead of reblog.
In this post you say the kind of Christian that Carlisle is would be fine with murdering non-innocent people. I respectfully disagree, but you have my curiosity peaked, so if you don't mind elaborating, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
- Vinelle
So this rests on a central presupposition that is not explicitly stated in canon, which is that by what SM has laid out, Carlisle was raised as a nonseparating Puritan.
But I also want to be clear about the rephrasing here. What I said was that by all accounts "for the kind of Christian he was raised to be—murdering non-innocent people would’ve been totally fine." Which is not the same thing as "Carlisle would be fine murdering non-innocent people." This disconnect is actually something I consider central to his character and the way that I write him--if you combine actual history with what Meyer laid down, the kind of Christian he was raised to be should not have big hang-ups about murdering people who "deserve it" but Carlisle does and that tells us a lot about who he is.
Nonseparatists, who arrived to the US as the Massachusetts Bay colonists (as opposed to the earlier migration of separatist colonists who settled Plymouth) in the 1630s, made up over 70% of the Church of England clergy in the 1600s when Carlisle was born. They came later and many were still in England in the 1640s, making it perfectly reasonable that Carlisle's suddenly widowed dad hadn't attempted to make the jump with this kid he barely knew what to do with. They didn't aim to denounce the Church of England, but rather to reform it from the inside. They recognized many things as capital crimes, including many things we would not consider to be capital today, like blasphemy, counterfeiting, and adultery.
So if Carlisle really was an "obedient son" (TW 331), all signs point to him being obedient to the laws of Puritanism, which should've included being perfectly fine with some people dying for their egregious sins. So either he wasn't Puritan, or he isn't obedient. Let's test these in turn.
Q1: Was Carlisle a nonseparating Puritan?
We don't have a lot here--there are only a handful of pointers in the saga, even including Midnight Sun, which in instances where it Josses the original canon, I am inclined to side with the original canon, messy as it is.
We know the following about Carlisle's upbringing:
He was born in the sixteen-forties (TW 331)
His father was an Anglican pastor (TW 331)
His father was "enthusiastic in his persecution of Roman Catholics and other religions....and believed very strongly in the reality of evil" (TW 331)
The other thing we know about Carlisle is that he was born "just before Cromwell's rule" (TW 331). Vampires supposedly lose their human memories, except for the strong ones. So...let's assume for a second that Carlisle does not actually know when he was born (which makes no sense whatsoever, but fine, Stephenie, it's your world) but what he remembers and passes on to Edward is his birthdate relative to Cromwell? Well either his father hated Cromwell, which does not jive with the "persecution of Roman Catholics" part, or he loved Cromwell, which suggests he was in support of Cromwell's Calvinist reforms of the Anglican church.
In the sixteen-forties huge swaths of the Anglican priesthood in Britain believed in Puritan ideals, and these usually went hand-in hand with the latter two bullet points above. Add that to the Cromwell thing, and what SM has described, inadvertently or not, is a Puritan minister, not an Anglican priest who considered his fidelity to be first and foremost to the Church of England.
This boy is as Puritan as they come.
Q2: So why isn't he okay with killing sinners?
I attribute this to Meyer just fundamentally not bothering to research or think much about what she was writing until it spun out. She not unsurprisingly took a very LDS approach to murder, ignoring the fact that even by her own writing, there were lots of reasons that Carlisle should think it acceptable to murder someone (and maybe he did! We never did get inside his head about what happened after Edward returned!)
What I take issue with is Meyer's seeming thinking of the idea "he's a Christian ergo good and compassionate" when that is incongruous with the very brand of Christianity she otherwise laid out. Puritans were not interested in compassion and goodness, they were fundamentally interested in righteousness.
So it’s not because all Christians are good; many are not. It’s certainly not because Carlisle was taught to be against murder at all costs; he was not. Carlisle is not down with killing people…because he’s Carlisle.
And this gets you to why I'm still writing about this goofy series that on balance, I think was quite poorly written, going on 14 years after I read it for the first time. It's the disconnect between how Carlisle was likely raised and the man we meet in canon that actually gives a ton of insight into his character. From this break you can infer that he's not a milquetoast "Every life is sacred" kind of person (which is what I think SM had in mind and how he is written and acted in the movies), but rather that his whole life has been a struggle against people who thought that at least some lives were beneath them--first his father, then Aro, then Edward, and as you've pointed out, the rest of his family to a certain extent.
"So I didn't agree with my father's particular brand of faith" (NM 36) doesn't even start to explain this guy. He is fundamentally a rebel; a stubborn man driven by his own internal compass and not by what other people tell him is acceptable, and that's the kind of characterization that I find rewarding to sink my teeth into.

Tumblr media
************************************
It’s been a few weeks since Mandy Winchester had arrived in Hope County.
Joseph had a few of his followers keep an eye on her.
God told him about her. That she was the one. The one that will guide the Project to the New World.
She passed through Hope County to get some gas, some grub and sleep. But before that Archangel Raphael had told her about Joseph. That she needed to protect him no matter what.
She had a few encounters with a couple of peggies but of course they didn't get to see her face because the second they broke into her hotel room she planted a bullet in their heads.
She's a professional hunter, you know demons, vampires and shit but of course no one knows of her job.
When Joseph found out about the hotel incident, he knew that it was The Mother.
God had told him about her arrival.
He couldn’t approach her right away.
The Voice told him to be patient, and that he’ll tell him when the time was right.
Raphael had told Mandy to wait until he approached her, and go with it from there.
Again no matter what happens, Joseph must be protected.
Then that day came, Mandy was at the Spread Eagle bar with Mary May, Grace Armstrong, and Nick Rye having some drinks.
When 3 cultists approached her while she's sitting at the bar.
Everyone in the bar sees them, and are reaching for their weapons.
"The Father wishes to speak with you" one of them says to her.
She turns around, forgetting about why she was there in the first place, and says.
"I don't know who that is. But if he wants to speak with me he can tell me for himself".
He didn't take kindly to this, forgetting Joseph’s orders.
He aggressively grabs her arm, pulling her away from the bar.
“Let me go asshole!!!” she yells.
She punches him in the face, knocking him out.
The other 2 pull their guns out, unsure if they should aim at her because of Joseph’s orders.
Everyone else in the bar pulls out their guns, and aims at the other 2.
I mean everyone, Mary May, Nick, Grace, the cook, and a few locals having drinks.
Mandy who is shaking her hand after punching him says.
"If The Father wants to speak with me then I will go myself" she says.
“Mandy, you don’t have to go. We have no problem killing these peggie fucks” Mary says to her.
She replies, “No it’s fine Mary. I just wanna know what The Father has to say to me, and if I need backup, I’ll let you know”.
She leaves the bar, and gets into her truck.
Mandy has learned a lot about the Project at Eden's Gate from the locals
She knows they meet up in a church in the middle island next to Dutch's region, and she’s also 100% sure she knows the eldest brother Jacob because of her husband Joel.
She knows Joseph needs to be protected because Raphael told her to, and she hasn’t seen him at all. Not even a photo of the man.
Entering the center island, it's all fenced up, and has barbed wire.
She makes the only left turn down the road to Joseph's church.
As she pulls closer to the property, she sees the front gate is open.
A sign in front that says "The Church of Eden's Gate".
"What the fuck am I doing?" she asks herself, “Is this really worth it?!”.
She steps out of her truck, and approaches the church slowly.
All the Cultists on the property eyeballing her like she's a piece of meat.
This isn't the first time a bunch of hillbilly fucks eyeball, and stared her.
When she gets within 10 feet of the church.
A man with no shirt on, tattoos, beard, his hair tied up, rosary wrapped around his hand, and yellow Aviators steps out.
She stops dead in her tracks the second the church doors open.
“That must be Joseph” she says to herself, “He’s quite a handsome man”.
He gives her an intense stare that makes her spine go numb.
Her stomach feels like it's twisting, and turning in knots.
She doesn't say anything, she stands there, trying to make herself look intimidating and fearless.
This 5'3, 135Ibs, 40-42 year old woman who can knock out a fully grown, bushy bearded, crazy eyed hillbilly Cultist with one punch.
Tries to make herself look terrifying even though she's had her encounters with monsters in the past.
Joseph looks up at the sky, and he softly says.
"I have heard so much about you".
Confused, Mandy doesn't know what to say or do, she stands there and hopes Joseph continues with whatever he has to say to her.
It's almost like he can read her mind, he steps closer to her, placing his hands on her shoulders and says.
"He told me you would come. God said that the The Mother will arrive''.
“Damn it Chuck!!” she says in her head.
After a few minutes of not saying anything, Mandy finally speaks up.
Taking a deep breath.
"T-the Mother?!?" she asks, confused.
Joseph nods his head, "Yes" he says softly.
He places his forehead against hers, his hands on both sides on her head.
Confusion drowns her mind.
Joseph moves his head away from hers, and says.
"The Voice told me you would come. The Mother will show herself. It would be your face".
He places a soft gentle kiss on her forehead, and pulls her into a tight embrace.
Mandy, with no other choice, hugs him back. Her hands placed on his chest.
Hoping he would release her soon because she is beyond confused, and will need to process what is happening.
Even though Raphael told her, she had to do this. She was still confused by all of this.
After what felt like hours, he lets her go.
The first real question she asks is "Why me?".
He places his hands on her head again.
His thumbs rubbing the soft skin on her cheeks.
Looking into her brown eyes as if he was looking into her soul, he says.
"It's all part of God's plan, he brought you to me. To be my other half".
Mandy hasn't been romanticized, or been spoken to like that in several years.
The only ones she had left in her life are her 2 daughters.
Whom she lost custody of 4 months ago.
Hearing Joseph's words brings some peace to Mandy knowing that there is someone who cares about her other than her family.
Even though she doesn't know him that well herself.
He knows her very well, like he's known her for years.
She knows he needs to be protected, but the other feeling she’s getting is different.
If she’s developing feelings for him then that's not a good thing.
That’ll put a target on him, and make her look like a traitor to citizens of Hope County that are being tormented by this man, and his followers.
She knows he's not possessed by a demon, or any sort of spirit because her hands are placed on his bare chest, and she's wearing iron rings that were soaked in holy water.
He holds her in his arms. His left hand on the back of her head, and his other on her upper back.
She looks back, and sees about 15-20 of his followers watching them.
Like they were all waiting for her answer.
He lets go of her, his arms still wrapped around her, and asks “What do you say?!”.
Unsure, and not knowing what she’s gonna get herself into.
“Umm, can I have a few days to think about it?. Then I’ll give you a straightforward answer”
He nods his head, “Of course”, and he plants another kiss on her forehead.
He has his followers make a path for her to go back to her truck.
She gets in, and drives back to the Spread Eagle.
******************************************
She pulls up to the bar, still not sure what her answer is.
Mary May, Nick, Grace and Pastor Jerome sitting at the bar.
The moment Mandy walks in the bar Mary immediately asks.
“What did Joseph want?!?”.
“Umm, he uhh” she takes a deep breath, “He asked me if I wanted to be The Mother of Eden’s Gate”.
They all look at her in disbelief, then at each other.
“Well you said no didn’t ya?” the cook from the kitchen asks.
“Well of course she said no” Mary says, “That be my answer right off the fucking bat”.
“What did you say when he asked you?!” Nick asks
“I told him that I would think about it” Mandy responds.
“You’re not thinking about joining those peggie fuckers?!?” Grace asks.
Mandy sits down at the bar, and sighs “On the drive here, it got me thinking, and I thought it would be a good plan. That I say yes to joining them, but on one condition they can’t torment none of you guys, and not just you guys. I mean everyone in Hope County. No stealing properties, businesses, killing innocent people, and forcing them to join the cult”.
They all exchanged looks, and after several minutes of silence Mary spoke up.
“It’s a great plan and all, but do you really want to be a part of their shit?!?”.
“It looks like I don’t have a choice. If I say yes, I give them my piece and they accept it, then you guys are free. But if I say yes, give them my piece and they say reject it”.
“Then it was nice knowing you Mandy!” the cook says from the kitchen.
“I asked Joseph if he can give me a few days to think about it, and he said it was okay”.
“So what are you gonna do?!?” Nick asks.
“That’s the thing. I don’t know what I’m gonna do. Either way there’s a chance I might end up dead” she replies.
“We know you’ll make the right choice Mandy” Jerome says.
“I hope so too” she says, and gets up from her seat to go outside.
“Where you going?!” Mary asks.
“I have to make a few phone calls” she replies, and leaves to her truck.
She gets into her truck, and drives to a secluded part of Holland Valley.
Behind the Lamb of God church.
She gets out of her truck, and prays to Raphael.
“Hey Raph, it's me Mandy. I need your help, so get down here ASAP”
After a few minutes the sound of wings fluttering behind her.
“Okay, Raph I really need- Gabriel?!?!” she says before turning around, and seeing a different Archangel.
“Yeah, yeah. I know, I know. You were expecting Raphael” he says, sarcastically.
Stammering over her words. Unable to even two words together.
Wha-? Where? Why?!?”.
“Are you gonna finish any of those sentences?!?” he asks with a snarky tone.
“Where’s Raphael?!?” she asks, irritated.
“He sent me on behalf of him” he says.
“What?!. Why?!” she exclaims.
“Okay Man, I’m gonna need you to take a chill pill, and let me explain on behalf of my big bro” he says, again with a snarky tone.
“Okay, okay, fine. What was he gonna say?!” she says, hands on her hips. Calming down a little.
“He says. Just to summarize it” Gabriel says as he pulls out a piece of paper, unfolding it, clearing his throat in an overly dramatic way, and reads it without even looking at it.
“Just say yes!!!!. Do what you were sent here to do!!!!”.
He balls up the paper, and throws it at her head. “Do the job, and get it over with!!!”.
Mandy scoffs, “Really Gabe?!. These people are my friends, they’re being tormented by this man and his followers. And if I join Joseph, and his Project I would be betraying them!!”.
Gabriel shrugs, “Well it looks like you should join them to protect your human friends, or not. This isn’t my problem. It’s yours. Peace”. He gives her the peace sign before disappearing.
“No, Gabe no!!!” she exclaimed, and he disappears.
She groans loudly in frustration, and looks up at the night sky.
“Seriously?!? Come on Chuck!!!. Fuck!!!”
Mandy knows what she has to do.
In order to protect her new friends, their businesses, and their families.
She has to say yes, and be The Mother of Eden’s Gate.
Hopefully they’ll come to terms on her offer.

What's Missing from The Remaining
Tumblr media
Minor spoilers for The Remaining (both the film and the graphic adaptation). But, really, all these characters look the same, so good luck identifying who the ones on this page are.
The Remaining is an ambitious horror film about the End Times, but my biggest problem with it is that the Gospel it presents is super vague. It basically boils down to, "Believe and have faith in God to be saved, or live selfishly and die." No one explains what faith is or what people need to be saved from. I don't think it's even made clear why the End Times events that happen in the film (the giant hail, the earthquake, the "locusts") are being unleashed on the earth. In fact, the name of Jesus isn't even mentioned.
What's really needed in this movie is for the one pastor character to stand up and give a speech to all the scared people sheltering in his church…
"The reason all these horrifying things are happening all around us is because God is pouring out his wrath. He hates sin, and that's all any of us have been doing with our lives. If you don't think you're a sinner, then ask yourself if you've ever lied or stolen anything, if you've ever lusted after a man or woman, or if you've ever hated someone in your heart. Are you envious of others? Have you ever disrespected your parents? Do you even believe that God is real? And if you do, do you love anyone or anything more than you love him? What do you spend most of your time thinking, fantasizing, or worrying about? These are all crimes against our Creator, the only Holy Being in all of existence. And he's been patient with this world that hates him for so long, but the time has finally come for him to bring the hammer down.
"I pastored this church for years, and I thought I was doing all the right things, checking all the boxes. But my heart was more focused on furthering my own fame. I read and studied the Bible all my life, but I wasn't living by it. I never truly repented, never truly trusted. I was trying to do it all myself.
"Look…there are only two kinds of people who aren't guilty and condemned before God: perfect people and forgiven people. All those people who 'died' right as this craziness started? Their bodies are still here, but their souls are with God now. Each of you probably knew at least one of them. Do you think they were perfect? No. But they were forgiven! Why? How?
"Two thousand years ago, God sent his only Son into the world as a man, and he lived a perfect life. He never did any of the wicked things we all are guilty of. He was absolutely innocent in all things, but he willingly died by excruciating capital punishment as if he were the worst criminal in history. He did that for you! For all of us! He took the punishment we deserved so that we could be pardoned! And then he came back to life so that anyone who knows that they're inadequate to get to heaven on their own and accepts his death in their place can be with him forever in eternal glory.
"That's what they had that we didn't. They trusted that Christ's sacrifice had covered their sins, while we were out there either trying to make up for our sins by ourselves or pretending that we didn't have any sins in the first place!
"I hate to say this, but…the people out there who've died from the earthquakes, the hail, the plane crashes…unless they had a last-minute revelation, it's too late for them. But it's not too late for us! If you hear my voice, you still have a chance. Trust in Jesus! Repent of you sins and give up trying to earn your own salvation! He'll forgive you. If you let him."
Yeah, that would've hit the nail on the head way better than what we got.
