V-v-v-v-v-a-V-v-v-v-v-v-r
Season 6 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume DQ
Rip credited to "Green Monika Takeover"

Requested by crickqt! (Discord)
If you're truly deep in the trenches of SiIvaGunner like I am, then over the course of reading all of these blog posts, you may have noticed a rather...curious omission from my coverage. I've covered jokes both obscure and relevant, storylines big and small, rips of every part of the spectrum from Outertale to Loopdeloop Griddy to Sex - Steve Harvey. Yet all of these have one thing in common: They're all from within the SiIvaGunner channel. And as should perhaps be expected, SiIvaGunner is far from the only place where high quality ripping occurs nowadays.
SiIvaGunner was, of course, not an entirely original concept to begin with - mashups using video game music have existed for ages, and Chaze the Chat himself has made it no secret that the channel was an evolution of a subculture from SoundCloud, inspired heavily by the works of toonlink, as I mentioned back in Aphex. Yet the channel certainly carved out its own niche and style: its presentation as bait-and-switch mimicry of the actual GilvaSunner channel, paired with the mysterious insistence on full anonymity of each rip's creator, gave SiIvaGunner its own feel, one that it would only further refine as the fanbase grew and lore began to develop. For those first nine months, there was nothing else on YouTube like SiIvaGunner.
Yet when the channel's true "ending" was announced in the last quarter of 2016, near the end of Season 1, several people were distraught to see it go after just a few months. And keep in mind, it took until February of 2017 to get any sort of confirmation that SiIvaGunner was actually going to be sticking around beyond occasional events - and before November 2016, we didn't even know if the channel would return at all. So it comes as no surprise that, on October 1st 2016, we'd see the birth of the first true "fan channel" aiming to continue SiIvaGunner's legacy - TimmyTurnersGrandDad. And even as SiIva returned, TTGD grew to form a fanbase of its own, its own smaller community, with many of SiIva's rippers even contributing different things to both channels in parallel.
I'll be completely earnest with you all - the reason I haven't covered fan channels on this blog before is due purely to my own lack of experience with them. I've been glued stuck to SiIva alone since 2016, and the rabbitholes of the various fan channels simply appear too vast and deep to go down the same way I myself do here on this blog for the main channel. But, TTGD aside, there is one fan channel that deserves special mention, one that has quite often intermingled with SiIvaGunner itself and has such an immediately recognizable identity from all others - the namesake of V-v-v-v-v-a-V-v-v-v-v-v-r itself, Vvvvvavvvvvvr.
To put it concisely, while TTGD aimed to initially be a SiIvaGunner successor, then moved to be more of a SiIvaGunner alternative, the nature of the Vvvvvavvvvvvr channel has always been a fair bit more...dubious. You'll notice it just from clicking on the channel yourself - everything from the profile picture, to the header, to the titles and thumbnails of the videos uploaded to the channel have a far more chaotic, unpolished, almost "trashy" feel to them. This is because, with little exception, Vvvvvavvvvvvr aims to be almost entirely unfiltered - with minimal quality control and a submission process open to anyone, its effectively a big sandbox for rippers of all skill levels to submit to, the output almost best described as the SiIvaGunner equivalent Twitch Plays Pokémon. And much like that phenomenon, Vvvvvavvvvvvr somehow, through the unfiltered voices of hundreds of contributors, managed to find its own voice, its own set of recurring jokes, and eventually develop its own lore to tie it all together.
References to Vvvvvavvvvvvr aren't exactly a rarity on SiIvaGunner, either. The YTPMV Rock my Forum, as featured on LAST YTPMV^2 OF 2016 by ripper Xarlable, eventually took off as Vvvvvavvvvvvr's primary channel meme; almost every time the meme has been referenced on SiIvaGunner since, has been in tribute of the fan channel. V-v-v-v-v-a-V-v-v-v-v-v-r, then, is no exception - uploaded during the period of which the Vvvvvavvvvvvr had supposedly ended for good, its a loving tribute to just about every joke featured prominently on the channel, in the form of an incredibly varied medley rip. Scatman John, Reese's Puffs Rap, The Michael Rosen Rap, Chadtronic, Rock My Forum - its not as if these memes have never been featured on SiIvaGunner before, but they're (to my understanding!) such core parts of Vvvvvavvvvvvr in particular, that their usage in combination here makes the tribute's intentions clear.
As if that wasn't clear enough, certain segments of the fast-paced C-R-O-W-N-E-D are dedicated to referencing specific Vvvvvavvvvvvr rips (formally "vips") on an individual basis. A section using sentence-mixed AVGN clips, for instance, uses the same clips, sentence mixed in a similar fashion, as Crazy Bus Tylenol. There's references like this strewn all about this dense medley, yet as many in the comments have made clear - none of them get in the way of V-v-v-v-v-a-V-v-v-v-v-v-r just being a fantastic rip on its own, without any context or knowledge of the fan channel itself.
While I don't fall into that category in particular, as I'm of course aware of the fan channels that are more active now than ever - I am still very much an outsider. Yet I've once again been privy to take a peek down the rabbithole through this request, and I learned a lot about Vvvvvavvvvvvr as a result: Its a genuinely valuable platform with a fun and zany community, however small it may appear from the outside looking in. The near complete lack of filter or quality control means that anyone, even you reading, could submit something to the channel, a first step toward a great ripper's journey - a good number of SiIvaGunner's members who first joined around 2018-2021 got their start by contributing things to fan channels just like Vvvvvavvvvvvr. And though I may never become a full-on fan to the same degree I am SiIva itself, I'm of course eternally grateful and happy for their existence - through collaboration and teamwork, these channels help keep the art of high quality ripping alive.

George Jetson and Sword Art Online. It's 2022.
If you don’t know, I contribute to TimmyTurnersGrandDad, aka that old SilvaGunner knockoff channel with gradually decreasing reason to exist, and I’ve pretty much called it home since VvvvvaVvvvvvr died as a creative outlet.
Okay, now on to the actual subject of this post: George Jetson, the modern space age father. Did you know he was born a month ago? He’s a living, breathing baby of November 6th, 2022... also, remember those headlines about Sword Art Online trapping its players inside of it the same day? I knew that whole metaverse thing was sketchy. Of course I simply had to make 13 rips to form a channel event that could commemorate the not one, but two occasions.
Well, the George Jetson thing wasn’t completely my idea. It was originally suggested in November 2021 as mostly a throwaway idea, hey, let’s do a George Jetson’s birthday event, it’d be funny. He’s being born in 2022, after all, and Wikipedia has a birthday listed for him that totally wasn’t just made up by a random editor at some point! (Wikipedia no longer lists this date.) Now, the person who originally pointed this out suggested that the event could be dedicated to Hanna-Barbera rips, but I thought that was a bit lame.
In my head I pictured some kind of event themed around retrofuturism, since that’s what George Jetson’s birth represents in the first place, although I wasn’t sure how such an event would really play out in the somewhat limited medium of high quality video game rips. Due to that and George’s supposed birthday obviously not being real Jetsons canon, I shelved the event, not sure if I’d pick it up again.
Now, I don’t remember where I saw this, but somewhere, somehow, I learned of Sword Art Online’s upcoming release, which reminded me of George Jetson’s impending birth, and I thought: Yeah, I could make some rips about Sword Art Online, and some rips about The Jetsons, and maybe I could scour the net for anything else set in the year 2022 (I ended up using exactly one other thing in a rip), and I can pretend November 6th is George Jetson’s birthday for the sake of this high quality rip event.
Okay, I want to touch on the elephant in the room, which is The Jetsons on SilvaGunner. Honestly, I wasn’t motivated by... that stuff at all. Or, at least, that’s what I want to say. Ultimately, The Jetsons is a novel source for rips because of its history, and my interest in doing an event about it is probably not entirely despite its ripping history, and it's probably why I did more Jetsons rips than Sword Art Online rips (considering I know practically nothing about either series), but still, I tried to keep the SilvaGunner out of the event as much as possible, with one pretty indirect exception.
And that's the story of how I spent about 5 months piling up some rips for this thing inbetween my regular ripping. At the end of the day, I think the event went over well, it obviously didn't reach its full potential, at least on paper, but considering I basically did the entire event by myself, I don't think it could have realistically been executed much better.
The main thing I wish I could change is the order the rips released in (the part I had the least control over, of course). It kinda worked against establishing Swort Art Online as part of the event, but then again maybe I just didn't make enough Sword Art Online rips. I mean, The Jetsons was always going to steal the show, so maybe it couldn't have been avoided. One annoying thing was people thinking the intent behind the event was related to SilvaGunner's Jetsons rips, although admittedly the upside-down date thing is kinda clever...
So, uh... yeah admittedly I just wanted to waste some time rambling about something so there's not really any moral or point to this lol, except I guess that the future is now. (Or at least Sword Art Online's poorly-written future is now, since we still have 40 years until we truly meet George Jetson, but you get what I mean.)

hi
I'm XYSam, I go by any pronouns and I am a fan of mainly Love Live! I make high quality rips for channels such as SiIvaGunner, TimmyTurnersGrandDad & VvvvvaVvvvvvr!
The playlist linked here contains my rips on TimmyTurnersGrandDad, where I contribute to the most. As you might have guess, a lot of these contain Love Live songs, but also, you might notice a song appearing in Space Jam: A New Legacy, "Mercy" by Jonas Brothers, appearing in one or two rips every now and then. I don't know.
I may post here every now and then, posts will probably be memey/shitposty. Have a good day!

Todays rip: 20/03/2024
old town ribbon race
Season 4 Episode 1 Featured on: The SiIvaGunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special Collection '17-'19
Ripped by Moder112
youtube
Y'know, I've had this rip in the drafts for a pretty long while - I've wanted to write about it for so long, but its almost difficult to explain why I like it so. I sometimes wonder how many other people are as attached to the original Intro Title / Minigame Theme - Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race as I am - it was a genuinely shocking little rip that managed to utilize the creepiness of the original song, whilst also tying it all subtly to the ongoing side story of Mr. Rental's rampage on SiIvaGunner. Yet it was the kind of rip that didn't make its presence all too known after the fact - save for a big reappearance on SiIvaGunner Fusion Records last year with *** EVERYTHING IS FINE ***, the rip's appearances have been pretty darn scarce. That is, at least, on SiIva - what I learned in researching for coverage on old town ribbon race, is that the meme took on a life on its own elsewhere in the internet.
That's right, it's fan channel time again - the very same one that V-v-v-v-v-a-V-v-v-v-v-v-r covered not that long ago, even. Its always a bit difficult to discern...anything, about Vvvvvavvvvvvr from the outside looking in, because of just how vast and bizarre its output is - its a channel that accepts submissions of just about ANY kind and has made it its brand to basically be a dumping ground for any sort of vip (Vavr's name for high quality rips) possible. Yet through it all, in 2017, a certain familiar Barbie game for Game Boy Advance made a reappearance - with a vip simply named Horse: Blue Ribbon. From there, the meme was reborn on the channel as just "Horse", mainly using a remix of the original theme by ripper Moder112 as its main source for future vips - continuing to see use pretty regularly in a number of bizarre, spooky rips.
All of that was, of course, entirely lost on me - yet in a way, that made discovering old town ribbon race on SiIva all the more impactful for me. I had no clue that others remembered this bizarre one-off horror rip as much as I did, nor that there had secretly been this subset of rippers already fiddling around with how to turn this eerie theme into something so hummable. Old Town Road is a song I already find deviously catchy, one I've covered before with Mob Corral - and so to me, old town ribbon race wound up feeling like the perfect culmination to things all those years later. The rip that had filled my 2016 self with such intrigue was now finally being played around with in fun, creative ways - by, as I'd now later learn, none other than the very same ripper who'd been doing so for years beforehand without me knowing.
There is of course a comedy to old town ribbon race inherently, in making a country/pop banger out of a theme otherwise most known for how much it unsettles people. But there's that other part as well - it IS genuinely a banger, using so many creative and fun GBA-quality samples that all feel in line with the original creepy song, even including the sampling of Among Us sound effects used for its percussion. A lot of the samples are from Moder112's prior mentioned remix, yet the authenticity of the rip was so good that I hardly even considered that as a possibility - it doesn't sound like its using anything "fan made" so much as its just naturally working outward of what Old Town Road would sound like in this style.
I'm really happy that nothing gets forgotten on SiIva - that was one of my big talking points in Violet Snow Memories, if you'll recall. This really isn't one of those cases, because Horse found a life all on its own - yet its almost just as fun to see how memes like it live on in such strange, silly ways. Meme evolution! How fun. old town ribbon race. What a good rip.
