By morning, he was born, awoken within the confines of a solitary train in the midst of a city overrun by puppets. With only a voice as compass, and a puppet guide dressed as lamplight for company, the dark-haired puppet boy followed directions without complaint. There was no greater purpose than to prove as useful to the one who had awoken him, and to his creator– his Father, Geppetto. 

There was kindness in the old man’s eyes and something else entirely he couldn’t quite pinpoint. It was nice though, being spoken to with such warmth and gentility. Something within him stirred, if only for but a moment.

His Springs were reacting.

By afternoon, he found himself changing, memories of a life someone used to lead beginning to weigh on his mind more heavily than any physical object he was made to carry. The name Carlo whispered to him in his mind by a voice that belonged to someone who was dear to him– or were they dear to “Carlo”? The distinction was hard to make, and only grew harder as the hours ticked by. The change wouldn’t only alter his form of thought, but physically alter him as well, what was once short and unruly hair now having grown to his shoulders in silken tresses.

His father seemed upset– The puppet couldn’t understand at all as to why.

His Ergo was whispering.

By evening he had felt many new emotions– or were they just being relearned? The feelings coursing through his body, pain that made his mechanical heart ache, lifelike eyes sting with the need to shed something from them– but what? Happiness that rumbled sound from a place within him he never knew existed prior, and anger that caused his body to grow hot from rage. With every new ? bond he formed, he felt himself change; With every loss he endured, he felt himself grow. With every memory he could recall, the puppet boy felt Carlo stir deep within his heart.

His hands were covered with blood, oil, and grime– he wasn’t ignorant to what that meant.

Not anymore.

He felt warmth.

By the next morning, he had been reborn, no longer the naïve puppet boy from yesterday’s rainy morning, and not quite Carlo from those days when he had been alive. By next morning, he was changed– both and yet neither. He would keep the name, though. Carlo was who he was at the core of everything, even if he was hardly anything like the Carlo who used to be, but neither was he the newborn tool having stumbled out of that train anymore, either. 

He was something new, a collection of memories and experiences meshed into one, giving way to someone else entirely. His hair had greyed through the power of ergo coursing through his body, its length being allowed to grow even longer. Though his face still remained youthful, his eyes told the stories of, not just one, but two lifetimes-- and they were tired, if not relieved; There was pain but there was also hope.

His heart was pounding.

i've seen a lot of dp fans in the dpxdc fandom talk about not having access to comics so here. it's completely free, good quality scans (for most things), basically any dc comic you could want is there. you should have an adblocker but the ads aren't the worst if you don't, just noticeable and annoying. you're not gonna get a virus, i've been using the site for years, as have many other fans.

if you genuinely want to read the comics, take advantage of the sites comic fans have been using. there's new and old stuff and everything in between. crossovers too. whatever you want to read, you'll find there.

one of the cashiers at the grocery store i go to is so fucking fixated on shoplifters and it drives me crazy any time i check out through him (i try to avoid him but his checkout is often the most open/empty - hm! i wonder why! - and im often on a tight schedule w the bus). he brings up shoplifters every opportunity he gets and he seems so convinced that theyre a huge problem.

BUT WHAT REALLY GETS ME ,,, is that today the customer in front of me was needing a price check on one of the items bc it should've come out to be cheaper, so he was kind of apologetic abt it and saying "ah well, yknow, six dollars is six dollars, especially with how expensive groceries are right now" and i was nodding and agreeing (trying to show that i dont mind the wait and also solidarity my guy good for u for speaking up and getting the price fixed on that) AND THE CASHIER AGREES. FULLY ACKNOWLEDGES AND BEMOANS THE FACT THAT GROCERIES ARE CRAZY RN. AND THEN GOES ON TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SHOPLIFTERS. HUH ??????

I love learning about regional differences within countries or even regions. It's an American internet so even I know that New Yorkers are on a whole 'nother level of exceptionalism and being from Brooklyn specifically Means Something. Tell me, how does the rest of Brazil feel about people from Rio? What sets the Quebecuois apart, aside from speaking French? Does South Africa have stereotypes about people speaking all the different languages they have? Does being closer to North or South America mean something in Mexico? Italy hasn't been one cohesive country for very long, how shattered is it still? Etc etc etc tell me about regional stereotypes in your dear homeland Ethiopia make it a fight if you have to. #madre solo hay dos #ana servín #mariana herrera #shitty screencap posts (TM) #buckle up here's a numbered list of all the things I loved about this scene and them in this episode #1) the fact that they weren't even pretending here #they were just hashing things out being their usual cute supportive selves with each other #and it's still indistinguishable from them acting like a couple to the point that the driver himself was like 'naww y'all are so cute' :))) #2) the fact that aside from the characters who need to be against them being a couple for plot reasons #they're having random characters be outed as straight-up shippers (first ceci and now the driver apparently) idk it tickles me #3) the fact that what this scene is aluding to is mariana knowing more about being lgbt than ana #I really appreciate them not only not forgetting that mariana is bi but actually leaning into it and bringing it up very matter-of-factly #in a context where it was very much relevant idk why I wasn't expecting it but it's really great to see #4) the fact that even though mariana is fully intent on keeping ferrán on as a sidepiece (lol) #her scenes with ana even when they're not having to pretend don't feel like she's just counting down the minutes to see ferrán again #especially here like the way the 'we complement each other perfectly we're a team you've taught me sooo much' just comes so effortlessly #it doesn't feel like she's saying it to keep up the couple charade for the driver's benefit bc a) we know what she sounds like when she acts #and b) it only seems to occur to them that the driver is listening and that they may have to continue pretending AFTER they say all that #so this is really just mariana wanting to gently assert herself to ana and try to resolve the issue they've been having #and her way of doing that is to praise her and talk about how great they are together becase that's what comes naturally to her #idk idk I'm rambling the point is that that earlier scene at the restaurant with the forced handhold made me a wee bit apprehensive #like maybe ana would go overboard with the pretending and mariana would act uncomfortable every time they had scenes together #esp knowing that she would rather be kissing ferrán at the moment #so this was nice to see and once again I like how they are choosing to frame this storyline and their scenes together #especially considering the radically different places they both are at emotionally
